The roast pork rice place came first, it was pretty standard. Some of the crispy pork skin wa very chewy, didn't get the nice cracklings. The bbq platter sampler came bbq pork, soy sauce chicken and regular chicken. The bbq pork was sweet and very tender, it reminded me of the Chinese cured pork belly. The place is great! Jon Gege is known for their Cantonese styled bbq/deli. The food is really good and the entire space was kept pretty clean. It has a somewhat of a high end, modern Chinese cafe aesthetic. There's the option to order for take out, as well as to dine in. I dined in on a Saturday at around 6, and had to wait roughly half an hour for a table for 5 people. Service was decent. You're able to scan the code on the table to order. But my family is on the older end, so the waitress gave us a tablet, which is helpful because the tablet is definitely easier to view than a phone screen. There's also a robot that delivers food. Jin Gege shares a location with Yao Yao, which specializes in Szechuan cuisine. You're able to order from both restaurants at the same time. read more

I was in town visiting, and right from the airport, my dad instead we eat at Jin Gege for lunch. Since we stopped in on a weekday afternoon, we were seated right away. I let my dad take the lead in ordering and we had: soy sauce chicken, congee, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The chicken was so tender and flavorful! The congee was a nice addition with the gentle flavors complimenting the chicken. It was such a filling meal and we even had leftovers to go! At the end of our meal, it was difficult to flag someone down for the check and to-go boxes. I understand it was a weekday and service was slow, but we did wait quite a bit with no one checking in on us. Even with our leftovers, I would say the price of the dishes are on the more expensive side, so maybe don't come if you're looking to stuff yourself. We have been at the San Leandro restaurant multiple times mostly for dinner. Our most recent visit was on 4/11/26, and there was no line, however, there was minimal service provided due to lack of staff. I would recommend to come here for lunch if the roasted duck is your favorite because it usually gets sold out at dinner time. read more

I have to say their soy sauce chicken is on point and consistent each time with my purchase. Not everything there is good but for HK BBQ items, I like most of them. The Cha Siu and roast duck and the soy sauce chicken are my favorite items there. I'm each time was pretty good! I can't speak for everything there because most of the time I ordered for takeout. Even when I get home, the items were still good. Price is also very reasonable compared to the South Bay where I reside. I would definitely recommend it if you are on the road and passing by San Leandro. Most of the time, I make an extra purchase to have enough for the next meal. I like to warm it on in the rice cooker when the rice is done or when it has a few minutes left. I add all the soy sauce on the rice. The rice because a lot more flavorful! Kids love it. read more

This spot is located in the same plaza as Joanne's and safeway. It's right next to ShareTea in the back corner by where Foodmax is. The plaza comes with plenty of parking, even if you're around the corner, there is no way you cannot find parking, so that's a plus. My gf was sick and really wanted some congee for dinner, so I came across this place. While I was there, I ended up getting their shumai (I'm always excited to see that they serve dim sum food for dinner), shrimp fried rice and bbq pork. Everything was true Hong Kong style and delicious, with a decent portion for a pretty good price. I can only speak to the experience of taking everything to go so I don't have any pictures, but I will edit and add photos when I come back. Shrimp and pork congee: not bland like other congee you get, it was full of flavor and topped with green onions and peanuts. So please be aware if you have a peanut allergy. It added an extra texture that you don't think you need, but once you bite into it, the saltiness from the peanuts makes sense. Shumai: this was pretty good, fat, round and juicy shumais. There are other places that serve the same style shumais for cheaper, BUT, they sell these all day, and I think for dinner, especially if you're craving, these are worth the prices. Shrimp fried rice: I know it sounds basic and how can you have a good or bad review for fried rice, but you can. 10/10 this is the same kind of shrimp fried rice I grew up eating. There is that perfect "wok-hey" flavor. It's a bit of Smokey added to what could otherwise potentially be bland ass fried rice. But these were good and well cooked in a wok with it being just enough savory and salty to leave you full but still wanting more. BBQ pork: I wasn't planning on getting these, but I saw them hanging by their butcher station and really craved some. This went really well with the congee. It was full of flavor, sweet but not too sweet and super juicy and tender. This was very good; I both liked and disliked the fact that they use porkbelly slices. The flavor is there, but it was also half fat. After a few pieces, I felt extremely sluggish. I will be coming back. I can't say anything about their service or dining in yet, but I will, hopefully soon. I heard their soy sauce chicken was the best so I need to taste for myself. Interior of this restaurant is modern, clean, bright. Their bbq selection like salt baked chicken, soy sauce chicken, roast duck, roast pork are all very delicious. Well seasoned and juicy. The rice in their meals comes out dry and its been like that on multiple occasions that I've eaten here. Ordering can be difficult if you don't know how to use a tablet and sometimes communication with the employees is difficult since only a select few speak english. The Soy sauce chicken and salted chicken are good, not overly salty, and the skin has a nice springy texture to it. The chicken and duck are a little skinny though, with most of the pieces I ate lacking meat. Bbq pork was meh, lacked any bbq flavor, and just tasted like they only dunked it in sugar water. Also the fat was solidified because of the cold so not my favorite texture. Wonton soup (not pictured) was decent, with the shrimp wontons having the same filling and flavor as ha cao (har gow). To get your money's worth, I would order a half portion of meat, and split an order of rice because they give a lot of rice. New restaurant that took over fusion pot! It's a split restaurant with a fish specialty on the other side that hasn't been open yet. I came to try out this place with my mom and grandma and agreed the interior was nice and everything was clean as it is still brand new. We ordered the fried noodles with soy sauce and the combo rice platter with chicken and duck to split between the three of us. The noodles were ok, it tasted really simple and nothing really special. What we really liked the most was the roasted duck! It was juicy and fatty, really reminded us of the duck in Hong Kong. The price for it was also good compared to other locations around the area. Ever since moving out of SF, a lot of cafes or Cantonese style diners are hard to find. This place popped up for us and they noted specializing in bbq items. I was so stoked since I love bbq dishes especially the rice plates. You can also get those items from ranch 99 but it's not the same as diners/cafes. Parking isn't hard to find and the wait was about 15mins before we got seated. This places gets packed since it is quite small. We came here on a mission to try their bbq rice plates. Ordering was through a tablet and I find that more places are doing the QR code which is kinda nice. My husband and I got a plate each: Soy chicken, roast duck rice plate. Salt chicken, bbq pork rice plate. The rice plate includes some beans, pickled veggies, Chinese broccoli. The food was ok. The duck skin should be crispy but it wasn't, you couldn't tell them apart from the soy chicken. Overall the food all tasted the same with no distinctive flavor which they all should have. It was a little disappointing because ranch would prob have better duck. They may of added a lot more msg since we got thirsty and had headaches afterwards. Commentary regarding the service... I typically am not as picky about the service as food and taste are top priority, but I feel the awkwardness and discomfort of the situation have to be addressed. When my partner and I first arrived, they were at half capacity. It was at 2pm which was a later time for lunch. They asked us in cantonese if we were 2 guests and I said yes. They were seating us all the way in the back where we would be covered and have a hard time getting attention. We asked if we could sit at one of the many tables that were in the main room and clearly visible as where most of the guests would be at. He kept refusing, saying this was the only small table available despite the fact that there were at least four other options available for us to sit at... Anywho, we decided to leave... There were two of us showing up at 4pm on New Year's day. Restaurant was not busy: a few tables and a few people ordering to go. We were seated right away with an ipad to order food. I read that their house specials is soy sauce chicken. Green beans and the steamed spicy yellow croaker are not Cantonese food but they were also somewhat marked popular from reviews I've read. Plus we ordered wonton noodle. Soy sauce chicken: tender and flavorful, with sauce and honey braised beans. Both of us liked this dish the most. Green beans: deep fried first then stir fried with ground pork and aromatics. Quite authentically done with good aroma, even my mate who's sensitive to garlic liked it. Yellow croaker: fish is not fresh of course as this kind of fish is not local, the sauce is a bit too garlicky for us. Wonton noodle: good portion and wontons seemed fresh and tasty. Noodles are cooked al dente, but not very chewy kind as in very authentic cantonese wonton noodle. Probably was not made with ducks' egg yoke. We paid $87 for four items after mandatory 15% service charge. Decent quality food, service was speedy and place was clean. I have seen it previously quite busy with waiting line during lunch and dinner peak hours. As we left the place at 5, occupied tables doubled and steady flow of customers coming in to order bbq items to go or be seated for dinner. My mom invited us to dinner at Fusion Delight but when we arrived at the restaurant, they were fully booked for a wedding banquet. One of the waitress sent us here and said this restaurant is owned by the same owner as Fusion Delight. Since we were hungry, we decided to give it a try. Came here on a Sunday evening to grab dinner and the restaurant was packed. This restaurant shares the same space as Yao Yao (Szechuan restaurant) but separated by a wall. It has a hipster and modern HK restaurant feel and you can see the BBQ items hanging inside the glass case. There were a good amount of chairs near the entrance for people who are waiting for a spot. Surprisingly, we were given a table fast but the staff seated us at the Yao Yao side. Ordering is through an iPad. We were seated at 6:45 pm but they were sold out on all the signature bbq items. It was such a disappointment! Does it make sense for a HK style soy sauce chicken restaurant to not have any soy sauce chicken left!??! Or at least an amount sufficient to make a rice plate. We ended up ordering: Beef chow fun (5/5): huge portions, perfectly cooked with beef that is well seasoned and tender and the chow fun was fresh. We saw multiple tables ordering this item. Water spinach with beancurb sauce (3/5): small portion, a lot stems instead of the leafy section. Taste was average and there is a kick to it. The priciest dish out of everything we ordered Soy sauce chicken Noodle Soup (4/5): a replacement for the soy sauce chicken rice plate that was sold out. They separate the chicken with the noodle soup. Portions were reasonable and staff informed us that the portion of the chicken for the rice plate is much bigger. Chicken is tender and the sauce was delicious. If the rice plate is available, order that instead. Service was close to non-existent. Not a lot of staff but everyone had to bus tables at both restaurants. We had to wait a while to flag someone down to ask for utensils. Final bill with 3 dishes came out to be about $65. They also charge you a mandatory service charge of 15% even though the service was not good. We will likely return for the food, not the service and definitely earlier in the day so that not everything on the menu is sold out. read more

They have a not very big dining room inside passed the BBQ section if you want to have lunch or dinner in the restaurant. The dining room is clean and comfortable. But a lot of customers orders to go here. The BBQ and Soy Chicken are delicious. Many people come here to pick up their to-go orders and enjoy the yummy foods at home. The parking lot is enormous but shared with many businesses. Fortunately, the section close to Jin Gege is a little easier to get a parking space. The parking lot is also clean and looks safe to me. We got the combo bbq plate that not only came with super delicious and flavorful roast duck and soy sauce chicken rice plate but it came with marinated soy beans, yu choi and preserved vegetables which balanced the plate so welll. I'm in love with that plate of food. If it was just that it'd be 5 stars. However I was craving wonton soup and it was just ok. It was saved by the hot sauce that I asked for that looked homemade and added more depth to the wonton. Won't be ordering that again. Service was through a tablet which was problematic because there was a WiFi wasn't working. But the actual servers were great. Kinda wish they'd ditch the technology. Ambiance - Modern decor. Noisy and crowded. Casual. Very clean. Service - attentive, but reactive and you do need to flag them down. It helps if you speak Cantonese, but not a requirement. It's true their recommended tip starts at 18% but it's not a big deal because you can still write in whatever you want. Food - stick with their specialties. Everything that was meat based or came freshly made out of the kitchen (duck, pork, chicken rice) was good and very tasty. Other things that were not made to order were bad. We ordered dim sum and it came hot on the outside and frozen on the inside. We had to ask them to take it back. When it came back, it was hot but was chewy and sinewy. Clearly frozen for a while and quickly dethawed. If we had gotten it for takeout or delivery, we would have been very upset. read more
