I am not a foodie, I am just an old fashion Japanese food guest. I don't quite understand why sushi rice needs furikake, and why fukujinzuke was served together with Gari? came here with my friend because she been wanting to go after someone recommended this place to her. It was pretty good! Appreciate that there is quite a bit of parking in this area and that there are many seating tables available. We were the only ones in this restaurant during the afternoon time on a weekday, so very quiet. I liked that the staff did not rush us to order and helped us with suggestions on what to get. Post spa and craving sushi we happened upon Jin Sushi. I sometimes struggle trying new sushi spots (so I'm not disappointed) but, wow am I excited I tried this place!! First of all Ashley, the host, greeted us warmly and patiently waited for us to look over the menu. We spent probably 15 minutes just staring at it because everything looked amazing. Then, once she was taking our order she enthusiastically told us about each roll and hyped up our orders. While we waited she asked if we wanted some miso soup, and brought us waters; it was incredibly welcoming and comforting. Finally, I got home and got to tuck in, the fish portions were perfect, the rice was tasty and the perfect texture, the flavors were a delight. It was all really fresh and so so good. I even had a couple leftovers and they were still good a day later!! We got takeout but the entire vibe of the restaurant is so cute, lots of options for food, great looking deals ($35 for two ramens AND California rolls & $5 apps!). My husband and I love Jin Sushi, we've going her for years and I just realized I haven't left a review. The host, Ashley is so kind, she feels like family! We get the double salmon roll and ask for it seared which is an additional charge. We also like to order their spicy mayo along with our rolls. When we're extra hungry we love to get the miso soup, gyoza, or fried shumai. Ashley has practically memorized our order! The restaurant is clean and has a warm vibe with Japanese aesthetics, manga pages line the walls of the booths. Other rolls I like to get is the baked salmon roll, while my friends and family have ordered the monster roll, sunset roll, and teriyaki chicken. I've tried their oyakodon as well which was pretty good. I think one thing that's tricky is sometimes getting into the parking lot, also since they are a very small team (it's usually just Ashley and her husband) sometimes there can be a wait for the food. The wife and I went out today for lunch. We decided to stop by a new place and check it out. We were pleasantly surprised about the portion size and the price of this establishment. I would definitely recommend this place if you want some great sushi. To speak about the service might be a little tough since we were the only ones in there. Beware they might have some odd hours since one time I came around 2-3 and it was still closed for lunch even though the hours didn't match the sign. Checking out the Yelp reviews we decided to give it a try. While the outside of the restaurant is pretty bland, the inside of the restaurant is very clean and neat. We were warmly greeted by the chef and by the host. They offered interesting variations on miso soup (one with langostino and another with mussels). I gave the langostino one a try and was surprised that it was a large bowl, vs. the typically small bowls that sushi restaurants offer. It was pretty tasty. My wife ordered the tempura and a roll with spicy tuna inside, albacore on the outside, and thin crispy onion rings on top. She loved the tempura, but the roll was too spicy for her. I gave it a try and it absolutely packed a punch. The hostess did tell us the roll was spicy. But hey, we're old hands at eating all kinds of spicy food. So we weren't worried. This was *really* spicy. I ordered the chef's choice of nigiri. Each piece was well-presented and he honored my request of no shrimp or octopus. We had food left over, so we grabbed to-go boxes, and I got to finish my wife's meal later. :-) Other Yelpers talked about the pace of service. It's probably not a place for someone who wants to grab a quick lunch because of that. But we were in no hurry and left very happy to get our sushi fix. read more

It's just ok, as much as I wanted to give this place 4+ stars after eating some sashimi's I couldn't after we got our nigiri. Their rice wasn't sushi rice, their nigiri were poorly constructed using regular rice not sushi rice with a hint of vinegar that's supposed to go into the sushi rice. After a favorite sushi restaurant of ours recently closed we figured it was time to perhaps find another one to add to our favorable list in Tacoma for sushi. I have also thought that some other favorite sushi restaurants that are still around cut back their hours of operation so dramatically during the covid lockdown that I felt the reliability of them having their original hours again seems unlikely. This makes it not accommodating at all and to work with such a narrow window (we are talking like a two hour opening business hour window before closing again) makes it not worth the effort of going to at all. So it was indeed time to add some new blood and hopefully a new favorite sushi restaurant and it did indeed turn out being that way with Jin Sushi. Excellent spicy tuna rolls, yellowtail sushi roll and more of a deluxe sushi roll that had some sliced apple in it which proved to be excellent. We had edemame as our appetizer that was garlic flavored. It was very good as well! The sushi menu is fairly large so there are lots of variety in the menu which is great. All the food tastes very fresh and was delicious which easily added Jin Sushi to our favorites with ease. Steve and I are glad we found a new sushi restaurant of good quality rather having this be a trial and error experience or a process of elimination experience from the bookmarks in which we would have to drift around some more looking for a suitable sushi restaurant. It isn't always easy to find good restaurants of certain cuisines and felt like we lucked out finding a hit so quickly with Jin Sushi! read more

My husband sampled three types of sushi--yellow fin tuba, tuba, and eel, his favorite was the yellow fin. He had one of my gyoza and said it was a tasty crab. I hadn't had fujikinzo(not sure the spelling) but it was already lightly salty. Service was good. Seating was comfortable. Bathrooms were clean and fresh. They have a good selection of wine, saki, liquor and beer, a few mixed drinks, plus a Korean fruit drink and soft drinks, tea, and iced tea. The menu is extensive and has many different rolls, fresh cut sashimi, different types of Japanese ramen, and teriyaki with lunch specials. We ordered an off menu item: Korean hwe duhp bahp. Which literally means raw fish rice bowl. It is their version of a chirashi bowl. The salad in it was super fresh, with a splash of sesame oil to make it umami. And a side of fresh steaming rice to add to your bowl. The only thing I wish they had done was add more roe tobiko to my bowl. My husband ordered their pork tonkatsu ramen, and we were both impressed. It tasted the best out of the places we have had in Tacoma. The broth was creamy and nutty.
