    Avocado/Cucumber/Cream Cheese Roll

My husband and I popped in before a game and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. It's such a small place in a lackluster strip mall, we didn't expect to like it so much. The service was exceptional and the waiter was so friendly. The restaurant is not big so I wouldn't recommend for larger parties. We got sushi and noodles.

Came here from over the bridge looking for some good sushi. Place was clean, fish was fresh, but the sushi had a lot of rice so we filled up quick. Prices were on par and would come back again.

I have been here several time over the last several years and have overall enjoyed the food. Today I stopped In for lunch with my kid while using the laundromat next door. They were pretty busy so we sat down and waited to be helped. Before I talk about the food, I want to comment on the service- which I found to be exceptional. My son ordered 2 sushi rolls, then I ordered an entree and a couple apps for us to share. His rolls came out in the normal time and it was quite a while for the rest of the food. Maybe an extra 10-15 min? It wasn't that terrible but noticeably a longer wait than what appeared to be normal, but they were busy so it didn't bother me that much. When they brought the apps (gyoza and veggie tempura) and my main they apologized for the wait and explained a mix up with the order. No worries. A couple minutes later our server came back and said due to the delay, the appetizers are on the house. (!!!) the amount of times a restaurant has proactively apologized for any service issue has been like zero I think. Basically, every place I've been waits for you to present an issue and then even then usually they just say sorry. They don't even think of doing anything until you ask. I didn't complain and wouldn't have. I still would have left a good review, but I am very impressed with the service. They went above and beyond and I will never forget that. The sushi rolls ordered were the orange blossom roll and the Alaskan roll. They were tasty and beautifully presented. The orange slices and all were so pretty! I've never seen sushi presented like that. (I don't eat a ton of sushi so that's not saying a lot, but from my limited knowledge/experience it's unique). I tried both rolls and the fish was fresh. The veggie tempura and gyoza were tasty- really, can't go wrong with either. I always wish there was more, but these are standard serving sizes. They are $3.99 for gyoza and $7.99 for veggie tempura. For my main I ordered beef donburi. I had Never heard of donburi before today so I was curious to try something new. It wasn't quite what I expected. I didn't realize the sauce would be teriyaki. It was basically the rice veggies and meat all piled together instead of separate with the teriyaki sauce all over it and an egg on top. I was a little sad about the egg. I thought I would have a soft yolk that I could break and enjoy with the bowl but it was more cooked than that. Im not sure if the egg was still all one piece even? It was tasty regardless and with a menu this large, it's fun to try new things. (I'm a creature of habit so trying new things at a place I've been to several times isnt always my jam. Butttt I figured I owed it to the people (you) to try something new and let you know about it.

Best sushi and Japanese/asian restaurant in Tacoma. Great service, always friendly, and always great tasting food no matter what you order.

We decided to stop by here tonight for dine in service. It's New Year's Eve and we are celebrating with our 9-year-old daughter, so this seemed like a great idea. We live nearby, but have never been in. She and I are both vegetarian, so we shared edamame, tofu yakisoba, and tofu teriyaki. Her dad had chicken teriyaki. Everything was really good! The tofu in the tofu teriyaki was my favorite. They were lightly breaded, but not oily at all. Our service was fantastic. Perfect choice.

Our favorite "go-to" sushi for holidays and regular dining. We've been pleased with both take out and dine in.

I had high…read moreexpectations, but since I wasn't particularly hungry, I sat down with a casual mindset, just planning to have a light meal. After finishing, my biggest takeaway was: how has this place managed to stay open for so long? Environment: The place is clean, and both the sushi counter and the freshness of the ingredients are evident to the eye. The chefs' uniforms are also very neat. Taste: Sorry, it's hard to put into words! I ordered the lunch combo. The server asked how I wanted my beef done, and I said medium rare would be fine. But the beef was really tough! The tempura was okay. My friend had the pork cutlet rice bowl--the cutlet wasn't crispy, and the sauce was poured directly on top instead of being served on the side as we requested. So neither of us finished our food and we left. Fun fact: Tempura, though it's deep-fried, actually has the second-lowest calorie count among all Japanese dishes. So what's the lowest? Sorry, I forgot. A long time ago, Japan was considered the end of the continent, so many things that made their way there were seen as reaching the ultimate destination. As a result, the Japanese would thoroughly study everything that came--whether it was swords, food, tea ceremony, etc.--which eventually gave rise to what we now call craftsmanship or the spirit of mastery.

You'll often see the owner, Jose, making the sushi orders himself. He was trained by a Japanese sushi chef who in turn was trained in Japan. The ingredients are very clean and the portions are a good value. The sashimi slices are thick! The scallops are velvet in your mouth. The tempura is cooked perfectly. The sushi roll selections are unique and not like other places that just offer the same flavor. Have you ever ordered a couple rolls and they're basically the same? That won't happen here. Service was fast during the lunch rush. Server was friendly. No complaints. The restaurant is clean and the building it's in has a lot of character and history being in DT. Con: One thing I will ding them on is their Tonkatsu. I've had the Tonkatsu plate and the Donburi. Both times they were overcooked and dry. Come for the sushi!

I wish my service was better, but I got the service i paid for which was zero. They still brought my food out, but lowkey its not all my fault I didn't tip. They make you pay in advanced and for somereason I just expected they would bring it out togo. I dont really tip unless im being served and waited and and etc... so yes I was served the food, but wasnt exactly waited on or check on. With that said the food was above ok. Nothing wrong with cheap and good, unless the ingredients make your tummy hurt. Lol. Luckily it was not cheap quality like corner store ramen or anything. My broth was pretty quality also, but could habe used a slight bit more flavor in my opinion. It was a creamy broth and most places keep it clean so its normal that I want more flavor from creamy broth. Lucky for me their spice is actually spicy.

The chicken chashu wasn't chashu, it looked like just sliced up chicken breasts. It didn't have a flavorful broth and some ingredients tasted old. The nachos also had good toppings and fish, but the chips were stale.
