We are so glad we found Sushido and it's very close by us. The quality of sushi was extremely high and tasted delicious so very well prepared! My cousin got the bento box which was gorgeous and I admit I was a bit jealous of; it had a beautiful variety of expertly crafted pieces. We washed it down with 2 large Sapporos! Server was stellar and attentive to everything we needed and even anticipated our elders wanting hot tea refills before they asked. I went on a Saturday for lunch by myself. The place is nice but the floor and the table is a sticky. Service was fine. I ordered two rolls. They were okay. There was a taste to the spicy tuna that I didn't like. I personally also am not a big fan of imitation crab and only a few rolls did not have crab so I didn't feel like I had many options. Went on a solo outing for dinner here, and had a great time. At the time, it wasn't too busy and I was seated right away. The lighting was a little dim and you can hear chatter from nearby tables but overall it was a chill environment. I was disappointed at first looking at the menu and not seeing miso soup but was pleasantly surprised. You receive a miso soup complimentary with your meal. I ordered the cucumber salad appetizer, which was delicious. Lastly, I ordered the Sunshine roll and asked for a small side of eel sauce. It was great. My waitress was very nice and attentive. Went here to get a quick snack. It was amazing! I've had two other rolls from here before and they tasted as good as they looked! The crab mix is perfect, the shrimp tempera tastes fresh! The sushi here is EXCELLENT. I haven't had sushi this good anywhere else in Tacoma, or Washington for that matter. The chefs are very generous with the portions in these rolls. The rolls I ordered had exactly the amount of Tobiko that you would dream about, and the fish tasted extremely fresh. The service was great, albeit a little bit slow for what you might expect. Although to give some leeway, there was only one waitress on staff, and she had around 6 tables to serve. Sushido feels like a very classic sushi restaurant, which is hard to find these days, and something I appreciate. The lighting is great, and nice green plants add color where necessary. It was a top rated sushi choice on Yelp and we decided to put in a to go order Saturday night. there was a great selection of rolls and we were excited to try some of the recommendations. I will say for sushi in the area Sushido is very pricey per roll. They also seem to of gone up in price about a dollar a roll from when the last menu was posted on here three-ish months ago. We ordered five rolls. Four for ourselves and one for someone else to have later that evening. Flavor was on and everything was delicious. Unfortunately, my husband and I both ended up sick by morning form what we believe was from the sushi. I contacted the other person that ate the other roll we bought for him and he was also experiencing sickness. I'm afraid we all ate something bad from Sushido in our sushi. Friendly, tasty, plentiful, and expensive. I like the atmosphere. It's a pleasant space, and the service is always friendly. Sometimes a little too friendly -- there's one waiter who has a tendency to awkwardly insert himself into conversations and moves as if he's new, even though he's been there the last three or four times we've visited. The rolls are huge, and there's a fair amount of variety on the menu, especially in their specialty rolls. Some funny, crass names (like "Tastes Like My Ex-Wife!") add spice to the ordering process. Three rolls is plenty for two people, and they're designed to be shared. It's a bit towards the upper-end as far as sushi pricing goes. A meal there can usually hit $70 even without drinks. But they're served on wooden platters that are always adorned with extra decorations -- sometimes it's a musical treble clef made out of sauce, sometimes they actually write out "Sushido" next to the roll. It shows professionalism and dedication to the presentation. The experience overall is simple and casual, so the price can be a little surprising at the end of it all. Went there for the first time tonight. An interesting restaurant. First, the positives. The food was very good. Started with the spicy poke salad, which was spicy, but had great flavor along with a lot of poke and greens. I had the bento dinner. It was huge with a lot of tonkatsu and gyoza. The dinner and accompanying sushi were very good with a great presentation. We also had two rolls which, again, we enjoyed. The service was pretty good with our waitress being friendly and knowledgeable. She seemed to be covering a lot of tables but handled it well. The room was laid out as booths with high dividers between to offer social distancing and privacy. I tried something different with the nigori (means cloudy) sake which was, naturally, cloudy white. Tasty and different. The only negatives were the use of paper plates and soy sauce packets at the tables. Packets and paper plates for to go orders, I get that. In house service? WTH? Very odd. Bottom line was good food at a reasonable price. Dinner, sake, glass of wine, and appetizers came to $99. We plan on returning -even with the paper plates . read more

Do you like food courts? You'll like this place. Pros: It's much nicer inside than it looks outside which pleasantly surprised me. The food runner is really nice. The food is good. Cons: You get seated, then have to get back up and order your own food on a tablet near the front. Feels very much like fast food. You can't order a drink and appetizer while you browse the menu, unless you want to get up and down and run your card multiple times. You PAY and TIP before any service is provided. Ordering was fairly easy on the tablet, however if you have any out of the norm modifications you'll have to ask the food runner anyway. They accommodated the modification for me verbally. The tablet is the equivalent to calling a business and having to deal with an automated voice directory. You want a second drink or dessert? Get up, put it into the tablet, pay, tip, go back to your table. It's DoorDash but you eat there. Pretty much a food court. Although the food was good, it was PRICEY especially for the self serve approach they've adopted. It's really expensive to not have a real dining experience. I definitely won't be back. Maybe yes, maybe no. The jury is still out for me on Sushido. I will give this place a second try in the future. First off the place was very nice inside. Very clean and absolutely no smells. The decor is kinda modern Japan. The service and staff was great. They were nice and friendly and prompt. Now for the food.... We ordered many things but something's stood out. First off we ordered the Sunshine roll. The signature ingredient was lemon. I personally never had sun a roll so I tried it. Both my wife and I found the lemon very overpowering. We could not taste the rest of the roll. My wife stopped eating it after two pieces. It was the only roll we left behind. The Scallop Dynamite Roll was fantastic! It was my wife's favorite roll. However, upon close inspection of the scallops the scallops may be fake. The Rainbow Row was awesome! It was one of my favorites. We also ordered Ebi and Sake. The Sake was good. However, the Ebi and the shrimp in the other rolls was way over cooked! It was very "Chewy". Another problem we had with the Ebi and Sake was the rice. It was not put together correctly and kept falling apart. Matter of fact, the other rolls seem to fall apart too. This may seem to be a bad review but all in all the place was good. Given the popularity of the place we may just came on a bad night. The Sunshine Roll is just our opinion. We will try this place one more time and see. So Four Stars and not Three. read more

We were seated and greeted immediately. He brought us water and when we asked for straws he rushed off to retrieve them. I'm not even sure we had to wait for our food. Everything came quickly and was absolutely made to perfection. We recommend the Fire roll. There are so many things we want to go back and try. I haven't even talked about how cute the space is with great distance between patrons. 100% will return. I'm not sure I would classify this as expensive as. Our first time here. We were able to walk right in and get seated! The service was friendly and attentive. We tried the avocado bomb, pork spring roll, cucumber salad, and shrimp/veg tempura. The cucumber salad was fantastic and a very generous portion. The pork spring roll was just "ok" and so was the avocado bomb. The shrimp/veg tempura was not very good. We also ordered a California Roll and a spicy tuna roll. The Cali roll was much sweeter than we were used to but good none the less. The spicy tuna roll was good but not great. We also had two pieces of ebi. My guess is they were treated with the chemical that preserves the shrimp as they had very little "shrimp" flavor. All in all is was much better than Sapporo in UP. We still have a few other sushi places to try that were recommended by friends. So we shall see who wins the south end sushi challenge. Sorry to say this place will be off my list. As you can read from many recent the new changes (maybe new owners?) aren't worth our dining our relaxation. PRO The place has a very nice furniture update. The person the guided us was nice, but not a server. Their food is presented nicely. CON Deep frying pot sticker is not my desire method. And their hand rolls are far from traditional. What won't bring me back is the fast food style where you place your order at a kiosk. For their prices I will find a place that treats me like a dining customer. read more
