It was more like a cappuccino with the thick foam (not microfoam) but with less volume. It looked like this place is known for the cinnamon buns so I will come back to try it. There are sandwiches too which are pre-made. Check out the items near the entrance which could make good gifts. Love the artwork too.

I especially enjoyed the carrot cake, it had big pieces of dried fruit which was delicious and gave it great texture. Their turmeric latte was spicy and comes unsweetened, but not bitter. The baristas were mostly nice but seemed a little disorganized, although I think one of them might have been in training. I confirmed that everything was "for here" 3 times and they still gave me my sandwich in a to-go box which is my pet peeve. Overall, though, I really liked the place. I just was at Deep Cove this once for a little day trip so this was probably a one-off visit, but if I lived nearby, it's the kind of place I'd want to come back to.

The chicken Caesar wrap is my favourite savoury item and they have a bevy of baked goods for your eyes and stomach to feast on. The little shopping experience of local treasures is so thoughtfully curated. I picked up a gorgeous glass with the Twin Lions mountains that once again connects this cafe to the North Shore. United Strangers is everything I love about the mount Seymour area, filled with local charm. It always feels like a good place to be.

The interior is pretty neat. They have seats made out of parts of cars, and even the front counter is half of an old school SL. Lots of classic car parts on the walls. Staff are friendly and chatty. No problems there. The coffee selection is pretty decent. They also have cold (sweet) drinks. I had the V12 latte. They put a neat little teddy bear in the foam. Would've been cooler if they put a MB logo instead, but all good. The only complaint is that the car themed couches and regular couches are at different heights. So my friend and I were looking up and down at each other. Wouldn't mind coming back to enjoy the car themed ambience and maybe try a pastry.

Waiting in line, I watched in humour and amazement as he overcharged a young woman nearly 8 dollars for 2 iced coffees with an excuse of "but you asked for decaf... and SOY, and ice..." and then continued to rail on about how only women order Soy, seldom ever men, because it's a fad and no one is really allergic (to dairy).... I mean, it was totally ridiculous how he was behaving. I stood there, my adrenaline on over-drive, both angry but also slightly amused, wondering whether to stay or leave. The young woman then tried to pay with a credit card at which point he showed her his sign of 10 dollar minimum. She tried to tell him she only wanted to iced decaf coffees and wanted to understand why it was more than 8 dollars... He was so extremely aggressive with his energy, really, off the testosterone chart! She just surrendered and dug around for change in her purse and paid cash. I decided to amuse myself and see how it would go for me. I ordered my 2 beverages, one with Soy (-oh the humanity!) and I also explained that I have a dairy allergy and get very sick if I consume either dairy or gluten. I watched him process this while grappling with some kind of inner demon. I'm pretty sure he could tell I had his number, I'm no kid. And I'm also pretty sure he already knew his behaviour was over the top aggressive. Review #13/30 After…read morea tiring session of kayaking at Deep Cove, we stopped by at the Turtle coffeehouse for a quick snack. I ordered a slice of pizza, a latte, and a chicken samosa which the owner/cashier promised to be excellent. He even said he wouldn't charge anything if I dislike it. For the record, when someone says this, 95% of the time, the food usually sucks. Well, let's see. The latte was mostly foam and the pizza looked like the ones from Granville Street. The samosa was definitely a big FAIL--lukewarm on the inside with very little chicken and very doughy and dry on the outside. Overall, it didn't taste fresh. I don't even want to guess how long the samosas were sitting in the display case. Worst samosa ever! Expect some wait if it's a bit crowded because there was pretty much one person manning the entire cafe--and that was on a weekend. The items here were cheaper that most of the shops on the street but let's just say I would pay a little more to dine elsewhere.

And no, there was no sign saying the owners were on vacation. In hindsight, I guess the giveaway was that their LED Open sign was switched off.
