I would give this recently re-done restaurant a fourth star if it wasn't for the fact that it is really loud there; too loud to comfortably talk to friends without nearly yelling. Also, we were seated in the indoor patio area and it was pretty cold. They did a beautiful reno here, giving it a hip, urban vibe with cobalt blue back-lighting around the bar, open dining space, kind of dimly lit, and packed with happy, loud people. Service was attentive, the french onion soup warmed us up, dinner portions were adequate, desserts were spot on. I would try coming back here on an "off" night when the weather get warmer. read more

Been looking for a place with some elevated bar food and I think this could be the local spot. Prices were more than fair for what you get. Came in for a drink and something to snack on last night (and to see what Sutton Place had been converted into). I normally focus on food first and not ambiance, but the changes were pretty impressive. Place has major curb presence now (inviting blue-purple lighting that draws you in and really separates JJ Coopers from the surrounding buildings). The interior looks just as good. New distressed wood accent walls, quartz bar, classy height-top seating available and new flooring to name a few of the changes. Went with a GSB Massive and an amaretto sour for the lady. They crush some ice on the top of the beer which I am not a fan of (actually thought the line was frozen when I saw it and I was getting a beer slushy). Ice/chilled glasses with craft beer is a huge no-no. Good news is they do have premium products on tap and this is a quick alteration (just ask your customers if they want the crushed ice!). Mixed drink was reported as very good. Ordered a cheese and charcuterie board. You get to either pick two, three or four. Went middle of the road and selected manchego cheese, chorizo and serano ham. The portions are very generous,the quality is good and the presentation was awesome (served up on a big wooden slate). You get a couple of toppings: red onion, two jams, and baby pickles (forget the name). The jams were awesome (actually requested more crostinis so we could eat it all). Saw some of the other stuff coming out of the kitchen (seared tuna and a variety of burgers) and they looked killer. Will definitely be back to try more! Docking a star for the time being for a couple of service issues. Beer ice issue was outlined above. Actually had to order my beer twice (so it took about 5-10 mins longer than the mixed drink), which was somewhat understandable because the place was busy and there was only one bartender, and there seemed to be some sort of leak because water was flowing onto the bar top (unbeknownst to me, soaked my napkin which consequently soaked my lap). read more

This is my favorite restaurant in town! We Had my daughters Bridal Shower there yesterday in the back room with the retractable ceiling and from the beginning to the end, Perfection!! The food was delicious and our guests were raving. Matt (Chef) worked with us, as we had a vision of what we wanted. The service was Terrific! My daughter, our Bride, gave it out of a scale of 1 to 10 a 100%. Our family and friends were so Happy!!! Our server was awesome & most of the food was good. Here's the deal: Liked: opens pretty late Friday/ Saturday for late night grub, service was on point, calamari (both traditional & buffalo style was great) our server brought the buffalo on the side since our group of 4 was undecided on which to do. My salmon on the chopped salad was fantastic ((salmon recommended by server) & salad was super filling, Prosecco came out on ice, waters stayed full, indoor or outdoor seating including outdoor patio, love it! Could have been better: blueberry lemonade tasted like chemicals so my friend sent it back, they replaced with a red sangria which was equally gross. Terribly loud and busy. We had a reservation and were seated 15 minutes after. Our first drink orders took forever. Beyond burgers are not supposed to be "well done" the chef should read the directions, they're red / pink when they're done. We ordered three and all three were over done. Dark brown with rotten avocado on them. A side of mashed potatoes were brought out cold. Ordered three burgers, one order of lobster tacos and it took over an hour. I will never patronize this restaurant again. This visit was with my family, and we were not received with a warm welcome. We waited for nearly an hour and still no food came to us. Everyone around us received their food, ate and had multiple check ins with their waitress. We were the only family of color in this place, so make your own assumption about why OUR service differed from the rest of the customers. Went to a Halloween party/contest paid $65 cash $85 credit/bank card, ATM at their door not working so most of our group paid $85 cover charge for party of 10..(open bar and small appetizers 9- midnight .Beware service last night was horrible! our assigned server brought dinks over twice after tracking her down! after that it was waiting at the bar being ignored by bartenders instead of enjoying and dancing with the great DJ music. Appetizers brought to our table ONCE by a different person not our assigned server that NEVER came back and ghosted our table of 10. Contest totally flawed, 2 girls that BOUGHT costumes that knew the bartenders and most likely knew the servers won; so many great creative costumes, none won, go figure absolutely no prize for creativity of other costumes. Would never recommend going their for a paid event. Then business owners wonder why locasl leave town and patronize places out of town for events. What was even funnier is that the crowd didn't even cheer for them I heard Booo, costumes were bought not made, most knew it was pre determined, Bartender and server's choose winners?? How horrible when our assigned server saw our table once, and appeared very unhappy to be working; and random bartenders barely paid attention to who was in front of them. Its ok our creative group didn't win, whats wrong is there were many creative costumes to choose from. No coincidence the bartenders choose 2 girls, most likely friends of the server's as well, of course they will deny. I wasn't planning to write a bad review, but I am writing one because of an incident that happened yesterday and the manager's overly defensive response this afternoon. Yesterday I came in for dinner after a day at the beach. I ordered a Beyond Burger and immediately got sick to my stomach after leaving the restaurant. I called today to let the restaurant know that I had been sick last night, still was shaky, and that they should check their supply because I was worried for their other customer's welfare. I also would have appreciated a refund for at least my part of the meal. The manager called me back super defensive saying how "immaculate" their restaurant is and they sold lots of Beyond Burgers, yet I was the only one who complained. All he had to do was apologize and say they'd look into it. Maybe offer me a comped future meal, if not a refund. I probably wouldn't have cashed it in! The over defensiveness about how many people go there and how immaculate they are was not appropriate. That is what's causing me to write this review. We waited super long for our food and were swatting flies away from our beer. So they're not that immaculate and their popularity is probably more so due to their location than the quality of their service. Additionally, a review immediately below mine is complaining about their Beyond Burger order. I'm guessing their meal was around the same time as ours. It says the burgers were not cooked right and the avocado was turning. Maybe they charred the Beyond Burgers in the same area as the Beef which can make a vegetarian sick. Maybe the avocado got me sick. Ugh! Be careful folks! Don't end your beach day the way I did! read more

We had lunch here before hitting the beach on a hot Saturday. It was getting packed around noon, but we were seated at a nice high top by the windows. Nice cool A/C. The menu has a good selection of American food and they serve brunch until 2pm, so I picked the vegetable quiche and my friend had a burger. The vegetable quiche was delicious - full of spinach, mushrooms, golden soft onions, red bell peppers and cheese. It was as big as my plate. It came with a choice of toast (or potatoes) and ham (or sausage). My friend said his burger was great and they let him switch out his fries for a side salad. Service was good, and even though they were crowded they let us stay back a little bit while we watched the US Open on the flat screens. This is one of my favorite places to go for a casual dinner or brunch. It's in my neighborhood, so I go often, and always get the quinoa shrimp tacos. My man and his son love the pulled pork mac and cheese. All their salads are huge and delicious. For brunch, I highly recommend the pulled pork hash. It's beyond amazing! read more

The food was relatively bad for the price that they charged and the service wasn't that great.They left me and my family waiting for an hour after we ordered. It would have gone on for longer if not for us asking for a check on our food. I was originally deterred from the restaurant from the sign you see when you enter that says "in JJ coopers we stand for the flag"(this is referring to Colin Kaepernicks respectful kneel in response to the police brutality and injustice that was occurring at the time). Had dinner at the bar at JJ Coopers last night. Food and service were great, as usual. What ruined my dining experience however was the idiot that was yelling and slamming his hands on the bar every time his hockey team scored a goal. This was so freaking irritating! Irina (sp?), the bartendress, asked me how everything was, and I told her it would be wonderful except for the idiot making a racket at the bar. Her reply was "Well, he's just enjoying the game". Wrong response! She could have said "I'm sorry, sir, I understand, but there's not much I can do about it." Or she could have spoken to Matt, the manager, and asked him to ask the moron to quiet it down. I mean, c'mon! People are trying to enjoy their food and drink and they shouldn't have to tolerate a freaking asshole that thinks he's watching that stupid game in his living room! Amazing choice for our office holiday party! Upstairs room is fantastic and private, staff incredibly attentive and professional, food absolutely delicious (especially those mini egg rolls!!). My husband made a reservation for a party of seven for Mother's Day. Unfortunately last minute two people from our party had to cancel. We show up at the restaurant, waited at the door for 5 mins before anyone acknowledged us. As we waited it felt like all eyes were on us. When they finally acknowledged us we told them that we were now a party of five. They told us they could not give us our original table and that we needed to wait 5-10 minutes. The manager told us that he wasn't going to lose money on those two chairs. When they finally walked us to our table-they placed two 24" tables together, a typical setup for a party of four. As you can imagine it was super tight. To make matters worse this setup was tucked in a corner. Interesting enough several tables were empty. We also overheard the hostess say, " I don't know where to place them" to the manager. Maybe because we didn't look the part ( the only family of color) but they definitely went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome. Although it was going to be very difficult to find a place to dine for Mother's Day we decided to leave. So if you want to feel like a second class citizen, this is your place. read more

Sitting in the back patio with a retractable roof is quite nice - and less noisy. Staff is attentive and friendly. It takes a while for the food to arrive so don't be in a rush. Made reservations for our bridal party of 18 the night before our wedding since we read tons of great reviews. I'm so happy we did! The food was delicious and the service was great. On the night of our reservation, the manager called me to inform that the previous party had arrived to their reservations late and asked if we could come 30 minutes later because they would try to get that party out by then. Of course! We appreciated the courtesy call, which was unexpected. Our entire party arrived by 8:30 and the previous party still hadn't left, but they were in the process of getting their bill, etc. We didn't get seated till 9-9:10, which is the only reason why they lost a star. Afterwards, things just went uphill! Our server was amazing and friendly. Their drink selection was great. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed our night! read more

I was having a last minute surprise party for my cousin and my friend recommended JJ Coopers. We had a few days to pull it together and Rob could not have been more helpful. I think I put him through the wringer a bit because it was last minute and things kept changing. Well, he gave us the most fabulous menu! The food was extra specially delicious! Skirt steak, short ribs, pasta with broccoli rabe, sausage and shrimp. Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about the broccoli rabe. The room was beautiful, the servers, Michele and Ryan were exceptionally professional. It was a delightful experience. I will go there again and I recommend it highly. read more
