Attempted to eat here for breakfast about a month or so ago when relatives came up for a loved ones funeral. It wasn't busy, just a couple tables so we waited for someone to greet us and that never happened. Stood there patiently for a good 5 minutes when a patron came in behind us and went to the bar and was immediately greeted by staff! hmm. After another 5-10 minutes of being ignored we left! By the way, if one of y'all would've taken the time to at least say hello or acknowledge us (smile, nod, wave), we would've waited. This is tough because we really used to love this place. Part of this bad review is on the waitress. She seemed rushed and annoyed. She didn't ask us what we wanted for drinks. And she seemed bothered when I told her. My wife and I both ordered the irish benedict. Seems like a simple enough dish to make for a restaurant. But when we got it the eggs were almost hard boiled. Totally solid yolks and the sauce was congealed. It was pretty gross. But because they took so long to deliver it, we just choked it down. This waitress was an older lady. She never checked up on us or asked if we needed anything else. When I asked for another coffee she sighed like I was bothering her. This place used to be soo good. What happened? They weren't even that busy. We've been coming to this restaurant on every summer vacation with no complaints but this was lame. Lost a customer this year. read more

Very good service from Jess, who handled 10 separate checks seamlessly Food was solid. Nothing had to be sent back (big improvement over Myst). I had fried clams, the bellies were tiny and the portion on the small side, but they were good "enough". Others had chicken Marsala, chicken parm, salads and Nachos. Like I said, everything was fine (not great). I'd go again given the local options. read more

Best breakfast, lunch & dinner place in the greater OOB area that I know of. They have great food selections, hard working servers, homey atmosphere & affordable prices. I eat at JJ's whenever I can...this time around was a Sunday morning & it was quite busy but I managed a seat at the bar. The bartender was very pleasant & she carried a good attitude doing her best the get everyone's food and drink orders. It's refreshing to see people that have a positive attitude towards their jobs. I had coffee & a glass of tomato juice with my breakfast but just as easily could have opted for a bloody mary, mimosa or cold glass of draft beer. I recommend JJ's any time of the day for a bite to eat or even to stop in just for a drink. Enjoy! read more

My friend & I decided to change up our regular brunch visit to the Blue Pig in Gorham & settled on JJ's in OOB because it was closer after a night out - what an awful decision. Started off brunch with bloodies - the shrimp that came with the upgraded "surf & turf" option was spoiled - it stunk like rotten seafood & ruined the entire drink, it was way too peppery to begin with anyway - the microwaveable bacon piece was okay. The waitress took them off the bill after asking, but I shouldn't have had to, I told her the shrimp smelled awful, ordered a beer & she just left the bloodies on our table until we left. The breakfast was "meh" at best, the sausage gravy on the biscuit was definitely the most lackluster gravy I've ever had. It definitely came in jar, no way they made this. Home-fries were completely mushy even though they looked well cooked so I can imagine they do a huge batch and then let them sit in a heat tray or something. Some serious quality issues going on, or maybe just a big grift as most coastal food places in Maine tend to be. The location is great & the interior has a nice modern vibe - but I 1000% wouldn't recommend it, not even to the tourists. I left hungry & disgusted, so we went directly to the Blue Pig diner & actually had some good bloodies & breakfast. read more

Wish we could comment on the food, but after our family spent 20 mins looking for and compiling an order for our brunch, we called in to order takeout at JJ's, just to be told that they "stop taking orders, feeding and serving at 11:30" (we called at 11:45) however it states that they close at 2pm. So we are now starting over and trying to find another option. Just be aware if you are trying to eat here, they are gonna close close to 3 hours before they actually close read more

Went for breakfast line was out the door. So I thought this must be a good place to eat. No its because the service and took for. I saw my waitress address new tables before even taking our drink order. It took almost 20 to come take our food order and even longer for the food. When I asked, politely, where our food was. She replied it's almost Memorial Day at the beach and the it'll be like this all summer. Finally the food arrives as my son have been being finicky cause he's hungry they forgot the chocolate chips in his, dare I call it, Mickey pancake. My blind grandma could do better. I got the Irish Benny's. Good texture and taste on the homemade had if I wasn't for the pound of salt I tasted. Which didn't even remotely cover for my egg that was more like a hard boiled egg than. A poached soft one. My wife got a make you own omelette. Who ever things peppers, onions, and mushrooms need to be cooked to death needs to try what they make, super brown but uncooked broccoli. Looks like they tried to rush and cook it in a microwave. Left with most plates untouched. Kid ate his parents but we went up the street to beach bagel and were so much more satisfied . If I didn't have to give them a star I wouldn't. Poor service food quality was not worth the 35 min wait to be seated to wait over again. Got a Reuben and a steak sandwich - honestly pleasantly surprised especially for a Monday! I've been to many places in the Old Port and this was actually better. The only thing I'd say they could do better is salting the sweet potato fries a little. Both of us were doing happy dances after the first few bites! read more

On the plus side, they took reservations, the waitress was very pleasant and the French Onion Soup and Clam Chowder were excellent! My friends were happy with their meals but mine was a disaster. First, at 5:30 p.m., they were already "out of" baked potatoes so I got mashed to go with my steak tips. I ordered "medium" steak tips and they came well done and chewy! The waitress took them back and brought back steak tips that were very pink rare! I told her I couldn't eat those. She said it would be taken off the bill. I ate the mashed potatoes which needed more butter and salt and the asparagus, which was very good. I left the bloody steak tips. The bill came with that entree removed BUT I was charged $12 for each glass of Chardonnay wine instead of $8! And my partner was uncharged $4.98 for coleslaw instead of FF after he was told there was no uncharge. Not a good dinner out for us. read more

Food was ok, service was horrible took 15 minutes to be seated there were plenty of tables available, took 20 minutes to take our orders, took 40 minutes to get our breakfast, finished eating took 55 minutes to get our check, we didn't plan to make a day of breakfast at a place to eat. We tried to eat here a few nights ago (middle of the week). We walked into the outside eating area, standing where the sign on the chalkboard said to wait to be seated. We waited several minutes, the waiter looked over at us a couple of times but never acknowledged us, not to say to go inside to be seated or even to say he'd be with us in a bit. We finally went inside, where after a minute or two inside, the female bartender greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere we wanted to outside. So we went back out and found a table, and waited a few minutes more, watching the waiter go in and out, still not acknowledging us, until we decided to just leave.
