This is a great little cafe that has awesome breakfast and lunch menu items. I typically get their breakfast omelette called JJ's Omelette with a side of their homemade cheese sauce (can't go wrong with this combo). The wife gets their French feast. JJ's Cafe original location got hammered during Harvey so they closed for a long time. They reappeared a few months ago and although the location is different, the quality of their food never left. It's still tasty good! They're now in a strip center just off 35S in Rockport. Their menu looks a little different from what I remember a few years ago. My brother-in-law and his wife who live in Rockport told us that JJ's Cafe is one of the few places that re-opened after Harvey that serves a decent breakfast. So, it's always crowded with people lined up along the wall just to get in for Sunday brunch or even a weekday breakfast. Imagine our surprise when we walked in and got a table for 4 immediately. That does not happen - according to our Rockport locals. It's in between season - the winter Texans are not there yet! Anyway, the food was delicious and we consider ourselves lucky to get in quickly and enjoy brunch. We were hungry from a missed meal the day before! First visit and sadly our last. Food was pretty typical of a cafe but sadly like many others they charge a fee for credit cards which is 100% deductible on their tax returns, in other words they are charging the customer for something that they actually get back. I almost hate to write this review, because this place is already so busy, but I won't be selfish. This is a small local owned eatery that is only open for breakfast and lunch. They are always very busy especially on Saturday and Sundays. They have amazing omelets that are very well served. When asked what type of cheese you want, there is right choice in my opinion and that is their own Jack cheese sauce. That sauce is so good. I could just eat it by itself. Today we had the meat omelet with the cheese sauce with the country potatoes (I also added cheese sauce) and a fresh baked biscuit. Simply amazing. read more

The hot chocolate for my granddaughter was not only delicious, but a beautiful presentation of whipped cream, chocolate drizzle and cinnamon dust. The hash cake was perfect. The "Bodacious" omelette was Bodacious. The pork chops were perfect! Grilled with coarse pepper and lightly salted they were still very juicy and tender! The pancakes light and fluffy. The bacon was nice and meaty. Even down to the little packs of jelly on the table that included not just grape and strawberry but apple, orange marmalade, and blackberry. The tables outside are bar height and not accessible for handicapped people. They won't serve us at the picnic style tables and because we have a dog, they won't serve us inside. Love this place Great brunch or lunch. Nice varied menu. Great service. We tried on three separate occasions to get into this place, and there was always a waiting list. Finally early - before 9- we got a table for four plus high chair. Make you omeletefor me with bacon, mushrooms, pepper Jack cheese. Delicious. My husband wanted meat and was able to order the cheesy chopped steak as did my son. My daughter in law got the salad bar and grilled chicken. Grandson had the grill cheese. Everything was great. Arrived July 9, 2020 after the lunch rush at about 1:00 p.m. and we were promptly seated. I ordered the one egg breakfast with hash browns and bacon. My wife ordered the Patty Melt. She commented that the PM was excellent. By the way our waitress, no name, was great! I was served my plate and the over easy egg looked strange but it was done to my request. The hash browns were a bit too crispy! And were cold! The biscuit, as usual, was piping hot and was very good! The bacon! Well, it was burnt! Had the lunch special today. Beef enchiladas and honestly from someone that frequently cooks authentic Mexican food, JJs beef enchiladas did not disappoint! My mom and I drove by on our way to Wal-Mart Sunday morning, and could not believe how packed the parking lot was for JJ's Cafe. We decided to try it out for lunch. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. When we walked in, we were expecting it to be a lot larger on the inside, due to the cars that were there earlier, people had to have been waiting, but I see why. It was worth it. I had the chopped steak with jack cheese and bacon, side of stir fry veggies, and was able to add a salad bar for $.99. The salad bar was nice, really fresh and had a lot to offer. The table next to ours ordered the Shrimp and Grits, and let me tell you - they looked amazing. The lady eating them said it was too! And worth every calorie. I may have to try this the next time! The chop steak was very good, nice size, the stir fry veggies had an amazing flavor, even better than a Chinese restaurant! The plate came with Texas Toast as well, but I did not eat this. Our waitress, Dawn, was the kindest woman, and very attentive.
