Great food , friendly atmosphere. Never disappointed...one of my favorite places to take company

This review is from a dining experience on Thursday March 16th. It was noon and we were a party of 6. We waited about an hour before we were seated. Burgers and salad bar with a side of grilled chicken were ordered. Burgers were ok. They forgot the grilled chicken and a side of fries. People who had the onion straws really liked them. JJ's wasn't too bad and actually if the service was a bit better I think we would have enjoyed our visit more. Our party of 5 was seated right away but because of COVID-19 they had posted physical copies of the menu around the restaurant on the walls. We had to get up and stand over and close to other customers eating to read these menus one at a time. This doesn't seem like the most practical option. I had the shrimp and grits which were fine, just a little overcooked. My husband had the breakfast tacos, and everyone else ordered something different. The consensus was that a lot of things were from frozen, but it was decent breakfast food. Our waitress was polite but touched us and leaned over us each time she came up to the table. She had extremely dirty fingernails and even spilled water on one of our guests but didn't notice or at least didn't acknowledge it. Staff was excellent and food came out timely. For being a typical breakfast, eggs, meat, hash browns, and bread of some sort, we found it a bit pricey. Offered choice of toast, biscuit or english muffin. Opted for english muffin, never mentioned there was an additional charge. Coffee was nothing special and it is $3.29 per cup! Breakfast 2 people with a tip was $34.00! Again food and service was good, but overpriced in our opinion. read more

I had the shrimp and grits may have been the wrong choice to order but it taste bland only thing I enjoyed was the choice of toast or biscuit that comes with it. The biscuit I chose and ordered a side of hash was the only food that got me by. Was under quoted on waitlist, waited and hour and a few minutes, quoted (30min) gave em extra 20min to clean tables. As we sat, saw multiple clean tables for just my fiancé and I to wait way over 30min what a bummer. Although had a good service with the waitress. read more

Yup! It's totally worth the wait. Very busy on Memorial Day but we decided to wait it out. Killer hashbrowns. Fluffy pancakes. Thick bacon. Classic breakfast all around. Would definitely go back. read more

Awesome little cafe/diner. Only open until 2pm is the biggest drawback. I had the Thursday special, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn. It was delicious and served hot. Waitress was very pleasant and kept my tea full. I would definitely go here again. read more

Great casual breakfast spot, we had eggs biscuits hash browns and pancakes. Service was attentive food was delicious!

Ordered breakfast to go and was pleasantly surprised. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy which were delicious. My boyfriend had the corned beef hash which was great, although they were a little skimpy on the portion. Also asked for some crispy hash browns which they actually made correctly. I would recommend the breakfast here if you are looking for something more than fast food. read more

One of the best go to breakfast or lunch restaurants in Rockport. Friendly service lots of options and good food. Prices are reasonable and locals eat here. Too bad old location got destroyed in Harvey but this one works too. We will definitely be back. read more

Delicious breakfast! Traditional Eggs Benedict was yummy and hash browns were fresh-not frozen-and cooked perfectly!

Amazing food! This place is the place to be. No empty seats when we were eating. It was a little wait but they got a table clean right away. Food did take awhile but that is to be expected when your that busy. French toast with hash browns and bacon is what I had and oh my the bacon was cook perfect very Crispy. read more

My husband went her a few weeks ago and said it was amazing. We went today and the service was awful and it was the same waitress. We had to get up to get our own coffee and my order was wrong after it taking over 45 minutes after we ordered to get food. The food always decent. Sausage is way too salty. Update: we went back this morning since most of the other diners are closed on Sunday. We had to wait forever for our food, but the food was amazing. The breakfast tacos are amazing. read more

Was at JJs in Rockport by Walmart on Tues morning about 10. Had about 15 min wait for a table. Waitress came shortly and took order. Over 38 min later after watching one order at a time come out of kitchen, table by table, we got our food. Husband did not get his toast with eggs until after his egg omelet almost gone and asking 2xs for it. His sourdough toast was a bun toasted. Then when we got the bill he noticed he was charged extra for sourdough but was never told. He mentioned it to cashier who was our waitress, and she said she never knew that it was extra. So we wont be going back. However, food was good. Service not so good. read more

We are about 1/4 of the way through a year-long cross-country driving excursion and this is the BEST breakfast place we've found yet! Besides the food being perfect, the staff is incredibly attentive and helpful, without being intrusive in the slightest. Dear JJ's. I was so disappointed that even though I took the time to make a reservation for 8. From the moment we walked in the hostess made she we knew that we were an inconvenience. When a table opened up for 8 instead of seating is like you should have, you went ahead and sat another party of 8. FYI that's not how reservations over walk ins work. To top it all off Several times two tables opened up and you Preferred to seat others instead of putting two tables together and seating us, the ones that had reservations. We were rudely told to go to the bar and wait there and every waitress passed by us and rolled there eyes and Once again made sure we knew we were on the way. From how I understand it, Hurricane Harvey took out the original location and they moved over to the area by the community pool, and WalMart. This was my first time here and it was so good, when you go to a diner and want that feeling of locally ran, vintage/authentic place. Then this is it. I ordered the corn beef hash breakfast plate and all of it tasted fresh. The hash browns were alil crispy and dry but still good. Call me bougie but I asked for no ice in my water, and asked for lemon juice to be in it but regrettably they couldnt provide the fresh lemon juice but they would bring me a plate of lemons so you can be your own bartender lol. It wasn't a huge loss or big deal. The food was delish and I cannot wait to go back. From what I hear that during serious weekends and holidays this place is insanely packed. read more

First off, exceptional Covid precautions. All employees were wearing masks. Menus were displayed in various locations, not handed out. After each party left, tables and chairs were vigorously cleaned. I had Gary's omelette which came with hashbrowns and for an additional quarter, an English muffin. The omelette had three eggs, sausage, cheese, and mushrooms and was yummy. Good cup of coffee that never got close to empty. Overall, a really great breakfast. read more
