    Salt & pepper fish
    Glenn J.

Old school full service Chinese restaurant with a Korean twist. Please seems orderly but had an old musty smell. Jon Won looks like an old neighborhood favorite so decided to try. An older lady greeted me right away and sat me down. My experience was a bit quirky. She guessed what my ethnic background was and suggested House Special Home Made noodles, I agreed to try since she seem very excited about the home made noodles but she took the menu right away before I could even look at it. I looked at their Yelp profile to look for something less typical. Unfortunately, I would have much rather have something like the jajiang myun which you don't see everyday. I just ordered salt and pepper fried fish fillet to accompany my noodles. She was bragging at how good the salt and pepper fish was and that it was made fresh using halibut. Chow mein was unusually sweet and the shrimp was scarce and dry/shrunken. Noodles were clearly not home made. If they were, the noodles were older and overcooked. Almost mushy. The fish fillets were crispy fried but clearly not firm and sweet like halibut. It tasted like a much less expensive Swai fillets. The check total was for over $48. Which was a bit surprising for a diiner for 1 person. No rice, no soup just hot tea and water. I would have okay with the food except had expectations raised when she told me the noodles were hand/home made and the fish was halibut. She reminds me of a sweet Asian grandma so I politely left without complaint.

Closed down. Kind of disappointing, I thought the price looked great and the food looked good on yelp. Disappointing.

Love the family owned business! We threw an 18th birthday party for my son here and they closed the entire restaurant for us! You can't get home cooked feel type food like it at any other restaurant!

Chinese Korean food. Mom and pop shop that survived Covid. Price is still great from JJAMPONG to JJA JANGMYUN that is still good~

Here's a polished, warm restaurant review that keeps your voice and details intact: This place feels like a hidden gem that's been quietly doing things right for decades. The server was incredibly kind and welcoming--she mentioned she's been serving at this location for over 14 years, which really shows in the level of care and familiarity she brings. The interior is definitely a bit outdated, but honestly, that's part of its charm. With the great-tasting food, it feels like a throwback to the old Chinese/Korean restaurants that used to line Garden Grove. It's especially cute that they're still using very old menus from decades ago. There's even a handwritten note explaining that with everything going up, prices are about $5 more than what's printed--refreshingly honest and endearing. The atmosphere is family-friendly, comfortable, and unpretentious, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a solid meal. I've lived in OC for more than 30 years, and I genuinely wish I had discovered this place sooner. It's a reminder that some of the best spots aren't flashy--they're just consistent, heartfelt, and full of history.

Hidden and understated mom and pop shop kinda of a place for Chinese Korean cuisine. They are super friendly and accommodating. Food hits the spot but understated this is old school style that you kind of have to have experienced in Korea to appreciate such as the lack of kimchi but with pickled sides. Only knock is prices are on the steep for their offerings and breading on their fried offerings are a lil thick , otherwise the taste is there

Came here for our work Pre-Thanksgiving Lunch. Greeted by the friendliness owner. She gave us some recommendations and we were all happy we did. Our favorites were the giant potstickers and the Mongolian Beef but everything was great. Even when we were stuffed we kept eating Glad we got to celebrate here and have added a restaurant into our rotation

    Spicy seafood noodle

This is a great take out restaurant. I absolutely love the food but the service is really bad. After my experience at the restaurant i checked other reviews and realized that my experience was common. The lady who manages the front had such a warm personality when we first met her but that changed very quickly over the 30 minutes i was there at the restaurant. It gets quite uncomfortable when you see her causing drama right in front of you. That being said the spicy seafood noodle here is better than the ones have tried in buena park.

    Jjampong and jajangmyun

One word: AUTHENTIC. This place reminds me of a jajangmyun places in Korea when I was young. Me and my wife ordered jajangmyun(black bean noodles) and jjampong(spicy seafood noodle soup) Jajangmyun hit the spot - this is EXACTLY how it should taste - and this is the dish you should try here for authentic taste. Jjampong was really good- prefer it to be but more spicy, all else was awesome. They don't have yellow radish, but they had onions to dip in black bean sauce if you asked.... Ahhhh the nostalgia. !!! The authentic taste of jajangmyun brings back the good ole memories when I had this in Korea.

    White kimchi

Back again, every time I visit LA and Garden Grove I always make it a choice to stop by here. This is one of the best places for jajangmyun, I really love their house made noodles and their kimchi pairs really well. Their kimchi is not the typical red, but a white style kimchi that pairs well with the flavors of the black bean sauce. Also their fried dumplings (mandoo) is really good I highly recommend this family owned and operated restaurant. Service could be hit or miss because it's just a sweet grandma running this place and her husband I believe as the cook. So if it's super busy I would say don't be afraid to ask or call her over but also be a little understanding. Ambiance is def. a hole in the wall but I enjoy it, a flash back to old restaurant decor of the past with its unique used/vintage charm.l

Wonton Soup! Broth was *chefs kiss*

Amazing food and our Lady Server/Owner was awesome! Felt like we were in Seoul. Jjajang Myeon 9/10, Pan fried dumplings 8/10, Shrimp Fried Rice 7/10, Sweet and Sour Pork 9/10, Wonton Soup 10/10.

Free parking in a small rear lot shared with Walgreens (it will look like you're pulling in to Hyatt parking). Mild noise level inside; can be noisy outside depending on how busy the adjacent road is. They have a good amount of food and drink options, from noodles and rice to dumplings and pig ears. Fountain drinks are self-serve, and they also offer canned and bottled drinks. The veggie dishes, fried rice, and noodles are delicious. I highly recommend the spicy wontons. Their dim sum options aren't the best I've ever had, but their other menu items make up for it. You order at the kiosk and pick up your food when your number is called (they sometimes bring it out to you if you're outside). Prices are on the higher side, so don't go here on a budget. Come later in the evening and eat outside if the weather permits! You'll get thinner crowds, good ambiance, and yummy food.

[Parking]: Free parking in the rear and the parking spaces are shared with Hyatt House and Walgreens. [Amenity & service]: Small space with both indoor and few outdoor tables. A restroom is available. Our party waited approximately 20 minutes for the food even though the restaurant was only half full. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings, Braised Beef Noodle Soup, and Pan Fried Pork Dumplings. *** Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings (6 pieces - $13.50): The skin was a bit thicker than I had expected and the broth had an average flavor. Steamed Chicken & Corn Dumplings (6 pieces - $13.00): I should have read the menu more closely as these steamed dumplings contained corn and I certainly wasn't expecting this ingredient. They tasted alright. Shrimp with Pork Siu Mai (6 pieces - $12.50): Ironically this appetizer order was probably the best of the three, but damn hefty price tags for 6 small pieces of pork siu mai. *** 3-star for the food but bump down due to (1) the food took a long time to prepare (20+ minutes) despite this being a fast-casual restaurant and (2) the portions were small relative to the somewhat expensive prices. This is the most disappointing restaurant I have experienced out of all the restaurants I have visited that are part of the Chubby Group.
