Lunch there this week. My thoughts: The Good - The building is nice. - The portions were filling. The Meh - The food was just kind of a cheesy clump, lacking much flavor. - The tri-tip was grissley and would not have been good to eat on its own. - The staff appearance and activity. I watched who I thought were customers sitting at different tables, talking to staff, just kind of roaming around. It finally occurred to me that they were staff. I get the relaxed atmosphere, but there was nothing that made them stand out as staff at all. I think I'm done. After waiting for almost an hour, we were seated. The last 3 times I've been here, at least one person in my party has had incorrect food delivered. Today it was the wrong Bloody Mary, uncooked hash browns & toast and bacon instead of sausage. We never got the hot cocoa we ordered. I did that while I was at my daughter's eye doctor appointment when I put our name we where like 20 people ahead of me and a wait of 55 min or so which was perfect by the time we arrived we only had to wait about 16 min and only 5 people ahead of me. We ordered our food, and the server was great. The food came out fast, and everything was just the way we ordered, and it was fresh, hot, and delicious. Damian was a good server he was busy but always stopped by to check on us to fill up our drinks. My daughter is in a wheelchair and I asked the host if we could sit in the front table because of her chair. He was thinking about the far back booth by the fireplace I would not mind, but she would be blocking the servers when they are coming around the conner. We went for a Sunday Brunch and used the online wait list to skip the long wait in the lobby. It's a basic no frills brunch spot with great food. Husband got the 3 meat hash and I got the 1/2 order of the corned beef hash. The 1/2 size was still more than I could finish. I want to comeback and try one of the ginormous pancakes and definitely will. read more

Delicious. Great for groups like we had. We went after work and they had plenty of space to fit 15 of us. Joe Momma's is a big hot spot for breakfast in Meridian. There was a bit of a wait to get in, but it was tolerable. We got a couple of scrambles, pancakes and a few other things in our group. It was pretty good, your standard breakfast spot, but maybe a little better. Our waitress, and everyone else, was super friendly, and the black coffee was pretty good. What I love about Idaho is the friendliness and family feel of the restaurants. A few more healthier options would be great, but whatever, you can make it work. Nice little spot. read more

We had a delicious breakfast! I don't always order pancakes at restaurants because not everyone makes them the way I like my pancakes but the pictures made them look so good. I decided I give them a try and YES, my pancake was so delicious!!! All you need is one Pancake since they are so huge, I could barely finish the one I had. The bacon was PERFECT. I love good quality bacon and they definitely serve that here at Joe Momma's. I wish the serving of eggs that cake with the meal was more. My husband ordered the biscuits and HASH. Warm, delicious and fresh biscuits. He enjoyed his hash meal as well. The coffee was great and we never had to ask for refills. We had a great sever who made sure to always check on all her tables. The food was quick and the wait wasn't long. It's a large restaurant with plenty of room for social distancing. We would definitely return for the pancake breakfast! read more

This review is limited to the crab cake bennie. It's a 5! We pre-tasted the hollandaise and it's a 9.5/10, just a little bit of salt was needed for the full flavor profile to reveal itself. Fresh, creamy, and light, not that nasty gravy mung some restaurants mislabel as hollandaise. Crab cakes are made in house with good quality crab meat, celery, and green onions as the primary notes. Fresh, light, delicious. My wife thought the green onion in the cake was a bit too strong, but good for me as she tends to order everything without onions. Hash browns were toasted nicely without being overcooked. All 3 orders of the crab bennie we place for our table were consistent. We were hesitant at first on a crab cake (envisioning frozen pucks), but it was spot on. Just one dish, and we look forward to enjoying more items at Jo Mamma's. read more

Loved it! Wish I lived closer. Our friends decided to go here before heading back to Seattle. We were a party of 7 and the waitress was so good at her job. She was friendly and patient and fun. She put up with our loud obnoxious visit of friends whom we haven't seen in years. The food was home cooked and delicious! Prices were also great for the portions you got! We all ordered breakfast and let me tell you the pancakes were so good and overflowing the plates. I wish I'd snap some photos of the food but I felt my friends may think I'm a little strange. Update 8/20/23 We've eaten here multiple times over the last few years and their food and staff have always been consistently good. Being able to get on their online waiting list is super helpful as you can watch where you are on the list and not have to sit there and wait for a table. Three stars for three attempts to eat here. Went to Joe Momma's for a quick and tasty breakfast, and that is exactly what I got. I've been here several times, and have always been more than satisfied with the service and the quality of food, with a warm comfortable atmosphere. I was there on Sunday, and greeted by a friendly host who sat me away from the larger groups, which was very considerate. I was then greeted, almost immediately by a friendly server, a server who seemed genuinely happy to be working there, and very nice. I gave her my order, which came to me perfectly, not to mention the coffee was hot, which seems to be difficult task for other restaurants I've been at here in Boise/Meridian/Kuna. I highly recommend Joe Momma's and look forward to going back soon. Its amazing how a few smiles can make an experience so much better. Joe Mamma's is a great breakfast establishment in Meridian, Idaho. They have great service with friendly waiters, and they have an awesome log-cabin-style decoration theme that makes you feel at home. I will admit, that this was my first Denver Omelet in Idaho and It was impressive. Sometimes this place can get packed on the weekends so I would be prepared to wait for a table, or decide to go on a weekday when it isn't as crowded. Now to the Denver omelet review: I have gone here 3 times now in the time of being in Idaho and I will say that this Denver Omelet satisfies all aspects of the masterpiece omelet. Good oil base, fresh ham, and pepper ingredients. Bread was well-buttered and toasted perfectly. I've heard lots about the long wait to get in, and I've definitely seen the lines, but when we arrived we were seated immediately! Friday morning around 10:30. Our server was really attentive, quick, funny, helpful, and kind! The environment is a lot like a log cabin, and it has the best classic diner feel. We ordered the hangover burger (10/10, so filling), their classic 2 egg breakfast with hash browns (also delish and a very generous portion of hash browns), and their very popular stuffed French toast. We picked blueberry! We both ordered coffee, and a cranberry juice. Coffee was nothing crazy, just yummy diner coffee that hits its own spot. Everything was ridiculously good and I left in a food coma forsure. Will definitely return here! Pricing was great considering portion sizes. We came in for Mother's Day breakfast and the place was hopping. My daughter did the call-ahead seating so our wait was maybe 45 minutes. When it was time to sit, they wanted to seat us at a high-top table but that wouldn't work as we had a 3-year-old in tow. We told the host and he apologized, so our wait was maybe 10 more minutes which was no biggie. Our food was killer with large portions so everyone was well fed. UPDATE: I have to remove 1 star for the lame policy of "No To Go Orders on weekends". I understand they are very busy and currently only servers can put in a To Go order, but I think it's ridiculous to lose revenue and/or customers by this policy. Either train and allow hosts/hostesses to key in the order and use a spot at the bar for the pick up spot to have a bartender/server to accept payment, or specify a server who can do To Go orders more easily than the other servers (possibly someone in the bar area). I am a single person who doesn't have much need to have a long wait time on a weekend to sit by myself in a busy restaurant. So me and my roommate gave this place a try twice about a month apart in case the first was a bad one off. Both times the food was Luke warm and not flavorful. The first time the wait staff was fighting with the kitchen staff so loud you could hear it from the table and the second time the waitress was so rude and condescending that we both decided never again. Empty drink with no refills both times and just crap environment. If you want me paying $20 a plate after drink and tip for food you need to provide a reasonable need to not go elsewhere. read more

The breakfast here is made for people who love to eat. When walking in it feels like a big cozy cabin. It was snowing outside and the fire inside was warm and wonderful. If you sit at the bar it's first come serve so this is where we go. The menu is definitely overwhelming and was difficult to visualize well due to having so many items. The pancakes here are gigantic!! The seriously could feed a beast! The flavor was great but I could barely make a dent. It seemed like such a waste of good food. I think it would be better if they just did it half the size. My man got a chorizo hash and a type of Benedict's. The server was great and let him do half of each so he could taste both. This is a fun place to head for some solid breakfast brunching and libation enjoyment. The menu is the size of most average torsos ie. a pretty large selection. My friend and I have to look through Yelp to see the pictures to decide what we want to go with, every time. We also ask that annoying question often, "What is your favorite?" to our pour server. The best server suggestion was the Korean Hash (not on the online menu). So my friend said yes to the.... hash? (Get it, yet to the dress but it is breakfast. Anyways.) I don't always have FOMO with food. Correction, I always have FOMO with food but extra, a lot more than normal when this dish came to our table. My friend was generous and shared. It was extremely unique and I will get it next time for myself. We also choose to share a pancake so we can get our butter and syrup fix. The pancake should be shared, not mandated though. In addition to sharing a pancake, you should probably make sure you get a toast/biscuit with your meal. The jams/jellies are some of the best I have tasted. The strawberry is phenomenal, the marionberry is up there as well. Other dishes to make you stressed so you can't decide what you want: Trash Tators, Kitchen Sink (super unhealthy and super yum), Crab Cake Bennie. Our service is usually wonderful - ok. There was one case where our server was so fun, attentive, and well fun and now I think I need to pick him out of the crowd and request his section. Con - the wait. It actually isn't logical. There is so much space in this place and almost every time it is half full with a 45 minute wait. I am thinking it is linked to being understaffed? Worth a try! Getting there early is suggested. Been wanted to try this place since I saw it 6 months ago (just moved here). Even though it was in the midst of covid, I would see people waiting outside. Didn't know if that was a good thing or not, as many restaurants weren't doing dine-in. I am a breakfast junkie. I love eating breakfast foods any time of day or night. Finally got in here last week for half a Crabcake Benedict with hash browns. Serving size was just right - even though I know I could of scarfed down a full order. Practicing good portion control is hard dang it. Like ordering something I would not make at home. Crabcake and salmon bennies are my usual go-tos. The hollandaise sauce was good, not great and it could of been a bit more generous. The egg was slightly overcooked - no spreadable yolks here folks. I was hungry and it filled me up, but I didn't get the, 'Wow, this is something I'm coming back for.' The inside was rustic looking and there were a fair amount of patrons. I felt a bit self-conscious when I walked in and asked for a table. The staff was mask-less and as I looked around no one was wearing one - just me. Was glad they put me in a corner booth in the room with the bar. I felt 'safer'. The tables were spaced apart well and thinking of germs floating in the air didn't even cross my mind. I thought there would be a more varied breakfast menu for a place this size. Noticed they also serve lunch, but probably won't go as the lunch menu was limited also. We've been going to Joe Momma's since we moved here 11 years ago. Loved this restaurant but lately not so much. They seem to be changing staff there is no one you see often that might know you from before. Not important when it comes to the food but the food comes out cold, the hostess chooses his friends to seat before you and it's too long of a wait for a weekend meal because they don't get it right or it comes out cold every time. The hostess will put you back several numbers if you even ask how much longer and the waitresses ignore you if they don't feel like waiting on you. Thank God we had one from the smaller room notice we had sat there too long to give our order! When it came time for the bill $50 for two people YES they were all there wanting! All we had was 2 mama specials and two orange juices. I think I can eat at home faster and better and keep my money. Unless you have all day like NOON to get a table on a Sunday, don't bother. It was all super flavorful, the stuffed french toast reminded us of funnel cake and the pancake was so good we didn't even touch the syrup! Size does matter. Bigger is not necessarily better. It is easier to scale down a successful big model than size up a small one to work. These 'truisms' came to mind as we soldiered through our first - and likely last - meal at Joe Momma's new location in the old Famous Dave's BBQ building which Joe Momma's owners purchased, revamped slightly and opened for business last week. They have painted inside accents of the eggs and chickens motif of their old location (it in leased space in aging strip mall in Eagle). But given they upsized seating by 300% (from just under 90 to almost 290) in this yuuuge building, it seemed as if the mascot-motif should be a cow for the "moovvvvee 'em in to the feed lot" feel of the place. Nothing worked for us. I like eateries to evolve so I'm not 'boo-hooing' about change of address. I seldom went to JM's old location because the waits for a table could be long and other eatery options are plentiful. I imagine waits will be less long to sit down here, given the tripled number of seats, but everything about this huge space is awkward. And whether you wait 15 minutes now for a table vs 45 in the old space and then wait 45 minutes now for not-as-ordered food to reach the table since with cattle-call seating of 290-ish capacity neither servers nor kitchen can keep up,it is equally 'tilt' for us. TIP: May be wisest not to plan for quick work day lunch hour here. VIBE: Similar to the Three Blind Men and The Elephant parable, you may have a different view of this space depending on where you sit. The seating being used for dining in the dark bar is all high top tables too close together and step up booths at walls. In spite of ADA going on 29 years old, if you have a disabled person in your party, you will not be welcome there. If you sit in the cavernous main dining room with high timber ceilings and too-bright lighting and manage a table near the fireplace, you may be happier. Or if you sit in a booth along the walls. But tables down the center of that room are too tightly spaced for anyone's comfort. And if your party includes a wheelchair user, passages are too tight for that person with only a table or two in the worst location coming into the space being available. (There's a "thanks for your service - NOT" to a vet in a wheelchair.) Also 'thumbs down' to the cheap 'mess hall quality' awkward flatware. And for the distant 'mono quality' sound system playing pop music mix. And for the table clearing process involving a person carrying big plastic tub around to dump dishes into it...crash, clang... SERVICE: Very friendly folks trying hard to cover the too many tables in the too big space. A long pause between seating and greeting and disconnected food service throughout. See rest of review for details. MENU: On oversized, double sided laminated page and a tad confusing looking but actually not difficult to wade through. New items have been added and old favorites remain. EATS: Lackluster experience of not as ordered food and lukewarm dish for one of us. Something we appreciate about JM's is Benedicts are offered in half portions. For which we always order the eggs "poached hard as golf balls". I the old location the kitchen always got this right. So we each ordered half-Bennies here. Alas, not so good for eggs outcome. With no way to fix it. Because after a long-ish wait a runner arrived at our booth to 'auction off' our dishes. "Who gets Carnitas Bennie?" Answer "He does". With "OK" as response the plates - his warm, mine not - were plopped on the table. Our very nice server was busy somewhere in the huge space but nowhere in sight so we went ahead to eat around the eggs. In a medium-ish while she arrived to check on us but we were half-ish finished with the food. The revelation the eggs were wrong was met with sincere "Oh sorry...". A phrase we also heard the hostess say to folks walking out as well when she asked "How was everything..." with negative feedback offered by some. This was in essence 'soft opening' week. So hiccups are expected. But my instinct is this place is just too big for them to get it right. BOOZE IS A PLUS?: Although JM remains a breakfast into lunch hour eatery with "Breakfast" embedded in name and hours no later than 2:30, JM's owners acquired a full liquor license when they bought the Dave's building. (Given how difficult it is to sell behemouth sized old chain restaurant spaces, Dave's building owners may have been eager to offer the license to sweeten a sale). So for those who really must have alcohol with breakfast or lunch, you can get a bloody Mary or mimosa or beer or shot of Makers or anything else. (They don't start pouring hard stuff until 10:00 per state liquor control rules.) Given we'd heard "multiple flavors" of mimosas touted, we each ordered one - cranberry for him, raspberry for me - with lunch. Marginal even at $4 price. VALUE: Two Half Bennies + 2 Mimosas = @$25. I've been wanting to go Joe Momma's for quite some time. Today we finally made it in!! It was a great atmosphere, all welcome, kids, teens, youngs and olds. They had a guy that came to the table to do balloon animals for the kids , and they loved it!! Who doesn't love a balloon animal?! The service from our server Jamie was excellent. She had a fantastic attitude and was very accommodating. The food was delicious and not over priced. All in all it was a great experience. I recommend! read more

Went today for lunch. Note on door said 7% surcharge due to egg prices. I was wrong assuming it was only for egg dishes. I had the tri tip dip which as not good and my husband had finger steaks which he said were good. Both of us had fries. Got our check and we were charged an egg surcharge. I understand the charge if you are eating eggs, but now I am penalized even though I am not eating eggs. Bad business. read more

The restaurant is huge so on Saturday and Sunday you may have to wait awhile for breakfast. They should engineer the use of two cook lines like Cracker Barrel, it would help them accomplish faster ticket times and increase volume through quicker table turns.
