Everyone has different opinions. I will speak from my sincere experience. I sent my wife there with our car for a simple brake job. I had an idea of what was wrong, and I knew what wasn't wrong. The manager there, who was very nice and cordial, must have recognized he had a woman with a young baby to take advantage of. I knew what was coming, but I couldn't get down there myself. My wife was quoted almost $1200 for a bunch of un-necessary repairs on a car that was fairly new (4 years old) and with less than 35k miles. These repairs weren't necessarily preventive measures; they were actual repairs that were pending, according to Joe's. Later, when I got off from work, I took the car to another place, kind of a hole in the wall garage, to fix the brakes. There was nothing else wrong with the car, according to this place. Maybe a need for some tires, but nothing close to the things Joe's claimed. For example, Joe's told my wife my rotors were completely bad and couldn't be shaved. This other place showed me the rotors and explained their condition to me, which was actually good, not perfect, but very much in good condition. If for no other reason, this is why I am leaving Joe's with this bad rating. I felt they straight out lied to my wife, and that doesn't make me happy at all. After $130 spent fixing the brakes by this other place, the car has been doing great. Joe's really pushes their AAA rating. They really lead you to think they are an honorable outfit. Again, everyone has their own experiences. All I can say that my car is running just fine, without all those "repairs" presented to my wife. You don't have to agree or disagree with my report here, I'm just honestly telling you what happened. read more

Got to the place after work. I was greeted by David Simms & Ozzy. They checked out my car and got me running smoothly again. I have worked with David at the Mercedes Dealership so I just followed him to this new location. Turned out to be a 5 Star service. They also have a nice comfy waiting room with all of the water you can drink. It happened to be the hottest day in LA this day. Joe, the owner came out to bring me water also. He is the owner. I have to say I am impressed. The last place I went to the owner was more interested in seeing me after hours than fixing my ride. He was very professional! I will be going back again. read more

I am not one to write reviews but had to in this case. This repair shop is the best shop I have been to in over 20 years of owning a car. Ozzy is truly the most customer friendly person I have met. They took in my Audi and repaired the brakes well below what I was expecting. I even got the yelp.com discount. Ozzy even lent me $20 for a taxi to the airport and put it on my bill. He then offered to drive me to the airport instead (I said no because my company was paying for the fare). I got a call from him for a repair estimate in 3 hours and it was repaired the same day. Again, below $$ what I expected. One other thing about Joe's aside from the top notch customer service is the great location. I take the Blue LIne to work and the shop is right next to Willow Station. Extremely convenient to drop the car off in the morning and pick it up after work. In short, I highly recommend this repair shop and compliment Ozzy on his great customer service. read more

I am a road warrior - my job is to go all over LA from SLO through OC...I drive almost every day and put TONS of miles on my car. My car broke down on the 405 during rush hour!!! I got the AAA to come rescue me from the exit ramp and they towed me to Joes. I called Joes and asked what time they closed, and they told me that they would wait for me... They looked at the car immediately and told me what they saw that went wrong. One of my belts broke that helps pump water and cools that engine, so my engine overheated. (I was freaking out since I thought my car had blown-up with all the steam that was coming out the hood). So it was great to have instant feedback that my car was not a goner! I was able to sleep that night. They called me the following day and told me what was wrong, how much it would cost, and when they would have it ready. When I went to pick it up, they showed me what was left of the belt and other parts that had broken. They take such good care of me, and I really appreciate the extra mile they go - like staying later to look at the car and give me some instant feedback. They are professional and they always do great work. I have been going here for over 3 years now. And, once called around to see how much it would cost to have the work done somewhere else (not talking about a dealer - I am talking about other local shops) and Joes quote was way less. I also get a discount because I am a AAA member so that helps too. I am so glad I have a mechanic that I can trust! read more

Apparently, Joe has sold his business to Ozzie, who claims he is the manager, running day to day operations. All you will recieve from Ozzie is a big fat customer no service. He was talking on the phone upon my arrival, laughing, and ignoring me for minutes. I had to ask his little assistant for help. Then after leaving my car there for five hours, I HAD to call him and ask what's going on with my car. He said he wasn't sure, and was looking at my fuse box, checking to see if they were alright. I only asked him to replace my dashboard light bulb that Joe fixed months earlier, but burned out, and was trying to fix again under the 12,000 mile warranty that all AAA mechanics offer for their work. This guy needs to go back to mechanic school, and learn how to properly replace a light bulb that even a monkey could fix. In the meantime, I'm never going back, and will file a formal complaint with AAA. read more

I was so impressed! I completely disagree with @Jon J. (and I did see Joe while I was there)! I went to the shop for the first time on Aug 14. Ozzy was wonderful and very customer service oriented. I came in because my check engine light was on, he took my keys, and came back to chat with me. After chatting for awhile I asked if we could get things going with my car and to my surprise it was already being looked at! I got a call about 45 minutes later that I just needed a new gas cap and when I mentioned a few of my external light bulbs were burnt out and they fixed them for free! I got dropped off at the shop and my car wasn't quite ready and Ozzy gave me an ice cold bottle of water and they had a nice waiting room and even had crayons and coloring books for kids! The only thing I did not like was that they charged me for a diagnostic test to see why my check engine light came on, but did not tell me about the charge when I arrived or the cost. They did give me a good discount on the cost since I'm a AAA member. They also told me that the air filter I had just got at Jiffy Lube two days earlier was the wrong one for my car and was absolutely ineffective! This was my second time for an oil change and Ozzy assisted me both times. He was very professional and made me feel welcomed and comfortable. The customer service was great! I scheduled an appointment for the oil change yesterday and Ozzy told me to bring it in at 8am this morning. My car was ready to go within 40min! Yay! This place was wonderful! The clips that held my power window in place had snapped, so my window wouldn't go back up... I took my car to Joes and they took it in right away. Within a few hours, they ordered the part, it was delivered and installed - they even sprayed my car down real quick! I took my car in for an oil change, and to have my brakes looked at. The guys there were friendly, and the little sitting area is nice... however, $45 for an oil change is outraaageous. Plus, I needed a new air filter, my rear brakes cleaned, and my wheel hubs replaced.. which they quoted me $825. I almost fell out of my chair. I know I'm a girl, but my dad worked on transmissions for Chrysler for over 30 years, so... While the cost may be slightly more as they are Napa Auto Care certified, as a union employee, I value that they put quality, service and care of their employees over getting you 'in and out.' So I am long overdue on reviewing Joe's Auto Center. Let me preface this by saying that when it comes to mechanics, I always go in with a somewhat distrustful outlook. We've all heard the news stories, or know someone who has been ripped off by unethical shops. That being said, I'm pleased to say that Joe's is the best IMO. I appreciate being able to drop my car off early, Joe's accommodates a 7:30am drop off, and when I was getting ready to call an Uber to take me home, Joe promptly offered to have his brother drive me home. Saved me about $8 on an Uber, and is just one of the reasons I like this shop. The first time I brought my car in for a look it was at the 60k mark for service. Joe's shop did the inspection and only minor items were found. In fact Joe stated that not much needed to be done at all. This was a trust establishing moment for me. Joe could have taken that opportunity to up sell unnecessary services or work, and I (being totally ignorant of how the car works, other than stick the key in and drive) would have taken him at his word. Ever since that first experience, I've taken my car back to Joe's. This past week, I had the 90k service done, oil change, front brakes replaced, cabin filters, etc. Joe and his capable mechanics, and last but not least, his friendly wife, who works the front desk, always take good care of me, and I know that they take good care of others too. I found Joe's on yelp a couple months ago, but never made it in for maintenance and an oil leak. My car wouldn't start, so AAA recommended towing it to Joe's. I got there just before closing. Youseff (Joe) was really nice and his brother gave me a ride home. Youseff called me the next morning and explained the issue was my key- yes, my key. The chip wasn't registering with my car, so the fuel cut out. I brought my spare key and it worked. I had Youseff check out my oil leak and he got back to me with an estimate I thought was really reasonable. I picked it up and was really impressed with how clean the engine was. We were driving down the 405 freeway on a Saturday, when our radiator blew. AAA towed us to Joe's, who (luckily) were open until 3PM. I was afraid that our engine had seized when it overheated, but they were able to fill the radiator and get our truck started. They gave me an estimate and said they'd have it ready by noon on Monday. They called at 11AM Monday (an hour early), saying it was ready. The cost exactly matched the estimate. I am so impressed with their service, friendliness and competence. I've already recommended them to everyone I've talked to about my experience. I discovered around 5:20 pm today that I had a nail stuck in my tire. After some quick googling from the parking lot, I found Joe's and called to see if they could fit me in to the end of their day (Yelp says they close at 6). They told me to come by, so my panic subsided a little bit. They took care of the nail easily and even offered me a bottle of water. I've been bringing my wife's and my cars to Joe's for about two years now, and we've yet to have a bad experience. Joe and his family obviously take great pride in their work and the business. The shop is clean, very open and honest about what needs worked on, and repair notes are thorough. And when he tells you they do a safety check on the car, they actually do a safety check (you know because tires are inflated to the right PSI and he tells you about that middle brake light that's been out for 6 months). My car overheated during rush hour on a Friday on the 405! AAA towed me to Joe's, you can leave your car in their parking lot and they work on it the next day. They replaced everything with new parts - I had these exact parts replaced 2 years earlier at a place that charged less money but they used after market parts. Joe's charged me about $200 more to put in everything new, I shouldn't have that issue for about 7+ years. They did a great job, my car runs like new. A few weeks later, I took it in again because the belt was lose. They fixed it and didn't charge me. I really like Joe's Auto Center. This is my new go to place for my car. read more
