This was my first time visiting Joe's Buffet. I knew I was in for a treat when I saw a man slicing fresh meat that was dripping with juice. The toppings offered are all fresh. The variety of bread selection was excellent. The staff seemed so friendly and happy to be at work. The process was no more than 5 minutes for my sandwich and I was on my way. Ok so first off, my mother was STARVING and insisted we eat lunch ASAP. We ended up here at Joe's Buffet, she said that she heard they have a mean Roast Beef sa-mich she wanted to try! I of course didn't want the same, I went for the Pastrami, and it was to die for! I ate the first half so fast that I forgot to take a picture, lmao, nothing new for me though! We even got a salad which wasn't too bad, I just wanted it to have some black pepper or olives, but I guess I could just go to Olive Garden, LOL! So as everybody else has mentioned this place has been here for quite some time, as you can tell from the building and signs, very nice staff and fast! I've been coming to Joe's Buffet for over ten years and these are by far the best sandwiches. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The sandwiches are huge and jam packed with meat. I always get their roast beef sandwich but they have plenty of other meat options. If you're feeling indecisive from all their side options you can go wrong with the Macaroni Salad. If you're trying to find parking during lunch or frankly any time good luck. With Joe's being located in the heart of downtown parking can be a pain in the butt. There's an entrance in the back along with the parking. All I can say is that if you are craving for a real and excellent sandwich, then you need to go to Joe's buffet! I haven't been inside da actual restaurant but man their roast beef sandwiches are filling. My dad brought home a sandwich for me and it was stuffed with roast beef, Swiss cheese, lettuce and pickles. This place is a Fairfield legend! Been eating here since forever, finally giving Joe's a review. Everybody knows about Joe's buffet and loves it. They are very affordable and generous with their portions. Roast beef sandwich! Hole in the wall joint with all the goodness packed inside. Step inside and see for yourself! Joe's is one of those places that when you tell people "I've never tried Joes" they go "What? Oh man you have to try Joes!". So today I decided to treat my lil sis to Joe's since she is one of those people and loves the food. It was exactly what I expected in looks, simple decor, food served up cafeteria style. I decided on a turkey sandwich with lettuce, mayo/mustard and cheddar cheese. My sister got the same, but with ham instead. I liked that they sliced the meat right in front of you and packed on a decent amount. Bread was soft. The sandwich wasn't anything spectacular though. They serve your sandwich with au jus and we both decided to go with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. The food was decent, but I wasn't blown away by it. I thought the au jus had a really funky taste and smell to it. It wasn't like any other au jus I've had before. I ended up not using it on my sammy after a couple bites; I just couldn't stomach the rest. The mashed potatoes were your generic standard, drowned in the same au jus. At 17.50 for both of us, I though it was a little on the expensive side. I guess I'm just not a Joe's kind of girl. I think I'll keep to Luigi's in Pleasant Hill. read more

Since I don't eat condiments, I got the French dip roast beef sandwich with provolone!! It was so incredibly yummy, tender, moist.. Everything you could ask for from a sandwich!! Since it was me and my friend's first time there, the guy behind the counter wasn't shy about showing us what he has to offer! After I ordered my sandwich, my friend couldn't decide between roast beef and corned beef. Downtown Fairfield's most coveted sandwich shop...we finally made it. Joe is happily carving meats and sloshing sauces on bread. Large portions of meat are served on a variety of breads. This place is obviously about the meat! Order as you walk in just like subway. There are several people taking orders on the sandwich production line. here is an adjacent room with tons of seating and forks, napkins, aluminum foil, ... I had the roast beef as recommended, my son had turkey and cheese The roast beef is served with sauce over the meat as well as one to dunk into. It was certainly moist, but both the sauce and meat were bland. It needed some spice so I was highly disappointed. You still get a good bargain on quantity for your money, but I wanted quality. :( Turkey and cheese was better but still on the plain side. The star of the show was surprisingly the coleslaw! It was delicious, creamy with a little sweetness. Perhaps I will try the pastrami with Swiss and coleslaw the next time I'm here...I won't go out of my way to return though. Oh my goodness !! This place was fantastic !! And they were so super friendly - like beyond nice ! Joe himself was there and when asked what his favorite sandwich was - he said roast beef and pastrami which my husband got. I got the pastrami and our exchange student got the open faced hot roast beef ! The portions were generous and the sides were plentiful. We tried the cole slaw, pasta salad and green beans.
