Since I found Joe's Pizza on Yelp, it's only fair to sing their praises here as well ... I carried out last Friday and Joe's is my new favorite sausage pie on the north side. We also tried their white pizza which was excellent but (in our opinion) made better with the addition of just a bit of pizza sauce as a side dip, so might add to our next order. Ordered steak sandwich, breaded cauliflower appetizer, thin crust cheese with one topping (ordered pepperoni), and one of their salads with blue cheese and bacon bits. Steak sandwich was really good. Fresh roll/bread and steak was well cooked. Grilled onions were tasty. Good ratio of steak to onions. I would highly recommend. Breaded cauliflower was really good. Came with ranch. They weren't soggy and remained nicely crisp. I would get them again. Salad was really good too. A bit small for the price but quality contents. I would get it again. Only hitch was in my pizza order. It came as just a plain cheese with no topping as I ordered. Just the cheese was good, but given I paid for the topping and I like my pizza with at least one topping I was a bit letdown. Overall for a plain cheese pizza it was good. I have to say, I have lived in Norwood Park for almost 10 years now (gulp) and I had never heard of, much less tried, Joe's until one night out Maria T raved about how great it was. So the next time we wanted pizza, I thought of giving Joe's a try. I couldnt find a menu online so when I called I ordered the old standby, pepperoni. It came within the hour they quoted and while it was good, I wasnt sure it rated the high rating I had heard about. Fast forward a month, when it became pizza night again. I now have a Joe's menu and decide to give it another try. This time, I now know they offer jalpenos and together with red bell pepper, arrived a pizza of truly fanastic quality, with a great flavour and thin (and not crackery) crust. Hello? "Yeah, what do you want"? The guy that answered the phone was having a bad day. I'm not sure whether his dog died, didn't get much sleep or disappointed with another bad year for the Bears. The Bears will do that. I'd like a sausage combo and small fry. "Fine, give the guy 45 minutes". Wow!!!! We actually found a place in Norwood Park that didn't suck. Joe's is a tasty Oasis in this normally bland, Eastern European Geriatric ward. We ordered a pepper and Cheese pizza which was out of this world. The Jalapenos really mixed well with the Red peppers and Cheese. My wife and I are new to the Jeff Park area and were in search of a pizza place. The two best are Joe's and Phil's Pizza de Oro. I have ordered both and they were good. Tonight we decided to do a taste test on the same night. We ordered a small sausage from each place and find our new place. We called Phil's first, then Joe's and placed our order for delivery. After 35 minutes, Joe's arrived...3 minutes after Phil's pizza was ringing the bell. ROUND 1....JOE'S....I'M A FATTY SO FAST IS GOOD We put the boxes side by side and Phil's was a bit larger. Opened the boxes up and Joe's looked better cooked with the golden brown on the mozzarella and more sausage. ROUND 2....JOE'S....PHIL'S HAS THE SIZE BUT MY WIFE SAYS SIZE DOESN'T MATTER. Taste was next. As any true red blooded Chicagoan, I grabbed the corner piece first from Phil. The cheese slid of the the slice but, as I stated earlier, I'm a fatty and can't be stopped. I reconstructed the piece and took a bit. The sauce was a bit sweet and you could taste the oregano. Pretty tasty to say the least. Next up, Joe. I grabbed the corner and the pizza pulled easily from the rest. The sausage had more flavor and the cheese was tastier. The crust was also amazing. This was the perfect pizza. The BLT 'zza....so good I could marry it! Been supporting this neighborhood pizzeria for about 2 years now. And as adventurous of an eater that I am, I'm spool happy with our weekly order of the BLT pizza and mozzarella sticks. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The crust is thin and light and savory. The chopped veggies are fresh and plentiful. And they top it off with the right amount of creamy mayo topped by perfectly baked cheese. The dine-in area is small but charming and serviced by very friendly waitresses (as far as I know, there are only two and they both are great at remembering customers). On the downside, there isn't much room so unless you're OK with noise and being a bit crowded don't try to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night. read more

In my search for consistently good thin crust, I always come back to Joe's. I've been ordering from Joe's for about fifteen years. It's a rock. That was a remark on the reliability of the establishment, not the make-up of the pizza. Every now and then the sauce will be a little too sweet. When talking food, someone will suggest trying someplace else. We will. It will be lackluster. The next time, sure enough, we get Joe's . I got the pizza delivered it came on time and it taste decent I mean Gino's East and Giordano's is better but I can't complain. I wrote an overall glowing review just 10 days ago, but unfortunately I had a bad experience recently and had to downgrade. The Italian beef combination sandwiches were not good. They tend not to taste as good on the weekend, there must be someone in the kitchen who makes them differently, you can tell because they also package them differently than on the weekdays. The sausages were quite gray, the beef was cut like deli meat, and the bread was way too huge for the meat portion. They didn't dip them either as requested, instead they put cups of au jus on the side, which I do not like, and has never happened before. They also gave me the wrong soda. They must have been out of the flavor I ordered and substituted, which made me upset. The pizza was good, it was very flavorful. read more

When my bf and I first started dating 3 years ago, he raved about this pizza place. One of our most memorable dates is when we ordered Joe's pizza and wings and watched Die Hard. Over the years, we've continued to order from them, but recently they've really messed up our orders, and we are not ordering from them anymore. In the past year, we've ordered from them at least 10 times and each time, there's always something wrong with our delivery order. One time they forgot our ranch sauce, then the next time, we got BBQ wings instead of hot, then the next time the pizza was WAY underdone, and today our pizza arrived ice cold. The amount of times they've messed up our order has just become unacceptable, and we don't want to have to go there and pick it up just to make sure they get our order right. Came in on a weeknight for the first time. Greeted by a friendly waitress who gave us great service. Everything we ordered was superb. Garlic bread with marinara dipping sauce, fresh garden salad, and sausage pizza. Pizza crust was thin - but not too thin- and perfect balance between crispy and chewy. I had a sausage thin crust pizza for dinner. I thought the pizza was really good. The crust was nice and crunchy. The sauce had a very nice flavor. It was a great blend of spices. The toppings were fresh. The sausage was very good. The only minor issue may be the slight amount of oil on the surface of the pizza. I also had a chance to try the Italian Sausage sandwich and fries. The Italian sausage sandwich was good. The sausage had good flavor. The sandwich could have used a little more sauce. The fries were just ok. They were the crinkle cut type which I normally really like, but these seemed more like oven baked fries. I keeping my 4 star review based on the very good pizza! This is one of the best "Mom and Pop" Pizza places on the NW side. The key to getting the food right for most Italian dishes is the red sauce, Joe's got it down. It is consistently awesome. I've lived in Jefferson Park my entire life, and have been eating at Joe's since I was a little kid...I used to rave about this place, and my parents always got their Friday night pizza from there, but no more. The last several years, they have really started to take a turn for the worse. I live three blocks down Mango (cross-street off Higgins) and it took them over an hour to deliver a pizza and Italian beef sandwich. Then to boot, they forgot the fries that came with the sandwich. Seriously? The last time I ordered from them, I asked for easy cheese and extra cooked (like another Yelper, I find they undercook and the cheese is relentless), and the chick on the phone sounded truly ticked off. I should have hung up right there and went somewhere else, but I persevered. I also ordered onion rings and a salad as there were four of us. When it arrived, the pizza was underdone, as usual, we opened up the onion rings, and there were FOUR, literally FOUR little onion rings in the basket. I called to ask what happened and their response? "Oh, we do half orders on all sides now." You WHAT? I said you sure didn't charge me half! She said well, next time we'll give you a free order, I said forget you, there won't be another next time. I told her I have guests over and now I looking like an idiot giving each person one f**king onion ring. I have been eating at Joe's for about 25 years, and it breaks my heart to see them go this way. Bad service, bad delivery, prices going up, and the pizza just sucks. I started going to Dino's further north on Higgins and while their pizza is nothing to dance about, it's very tasty and their side dish portions are freakin huge. read more

Their Customer Service on the phone truly sincerely devastating BIG TIME I had a legimate valuable coupon and they would NOT accept the coupon on the phone. We've ordered from Joe's every month or 2 for many years. Even though we live 1 1/2 blocks away, we usually order delivery just because we like to throw some extra work for the driver, even though I can walk there in 5 minutes or less. We even tip about $5. This time we ordered 2 sandwiches and mostaccioli and were told 45 minutes. After 1 1/2 hours I called to politely ask about the order and was told that it was still waiting to be delivered, but should be soon. We got it 20-25 minutes later. Neither the driver or the person I talked to offered any apology for the delay. Under the circumstances, a little something extra in the bag would've seemed appropriate. In fact the pasta looked like possibly the smallest order we ever got. We'll probably order from Joe's again, but not before trying a couple other places first. read more

I've ordered from here multiple times for delivery and normally I love the it but my last experience was horrible. We ordered Friday night and we don't stay that far from the place but it took them almost 2 hours to get to my place. I mean with traffic I understand twenty more mins than normal but damn that was a long time. Then not only did they take a long time but they forgot part of the order. My "go to" place for thin crust pizza in the hood. Thin crust being my pizza of choice. I've been getting pizza and other pasta dishes from Joe's for nearly 20 years, both dine in and delivery. No other neighborhood place will make my salads special order.....much appreciated since I can't stand the smell of raw onion. Very fresh ingredients in all of their salads too. Now back to the thin crust pizza, always crispy with just the right amount of chew. Good quality pizza sauce with just the right amount of spice covered with a golden/browned layer of mozzarella. Yummy. For those who like some extra kick, try their giardenera on the pizza. It's great! Pasta dishes are always cooked to order and "al dente." Joe's has good quality sausage and meatballs to accompany their pasta offerings. Excellent marinara (meatless) and bolognese (meat) sauce. Joe's delivery team is always fast to my door. I debated between 2 and 3 stars, and went one up because the eggplant was pretty tasty, and the prices are VERY nice. The biggest issue for me was that all of the pasta dishes ordered by our party were way overcooked and mushy. The sauces were decent considering the rock bottom prices, but come on, it's not that difficult to make the pasta al dente, is it? Nice, clean, remodeled space, and friendly service. Don't go out of your way, but if you live nearby, it's a decent option. Pizza, pretty good, but not unlike any number of local pizza joints. As a kid my mom and I would go out for food maybe once or twice a month.... growing up in the age of teenage mutant ninja turtles my request would always be pizza and this is where she would take me. After she passed away I kinda forgot about this place but one day I had a flashback about back in the day going to this little place and did some research asking family members where it was since back when we were going I was too young to care about names and addresses. Finally found it and made my triumphant return and it brought back a ton of great memories.....all the sobby stuff aside this place has GREAT pizza. Very cheesy,,,great snap on the crust and just a great atmosphere for a night out. Great thin crust pizza, at least that's what we order. Our usual is a garlic and ricotta pizza and they do it all. Fast service and delivery, though we only live about 4 blocks away. Joes is always good for a fresh salad too. We held a birthday party at Joes with about 20 people, they were outstanding and accommodating, they even added an extra server for the afternoon. The pizza is pretty good. The thin is tasty and they don't skimp on extra ingredients. The other items on the menu are tasty enough as well. The problem with them is delivery. Twice I've had to call after 90 minutes asking where my order is. The first time they were nice enough and they were at my door within minutes of the call. The second time the lady on the phone got pissy with me, first saying it wasn't that long since I ordered. After telling her I have my credit card receipt showing it was closer to 90 minutes. Then I was told the order was out with the driver and should arrive soon. It arrived 15 minutes later. No follow up.
