This was my first time ordering from Joes and I will happily be back for more. Absolutely delicious. I had the brisket, ribs, with corn bread, Mac n cheese with bacon topper and cheesy potatoes. The meat was so savory and melted in my mouth. Loved adding the bbq sauce to it as it enhances the flavor. The corn bread was nice and sweet and fluffy with the drizzle of butter on top. The cheesy potatoes were also very good and I ended up adding bacon to it which was was a stellar idea. The Mac n cheese was also very yummy and creamy and adding the bacon on top really gave it that nice crunch and saltiness. I also got the peach cobbler (not pictured) which was delicious. One of my favorite spots in Gilbert! Joe's has a cafeteria style line, where you line up with a tray and let the staff know what you want to get. I got the brisket sandwich with potato salad and cornbread, which was so delicious. The brisket was very tender and was not dry at all. I ended up getting the potato salad for the side with my sandwich and it was delicious! It's a little on the less creamy side, which I think was perfect for the barbecue. I also highly recommend getting the cornbread with their honey butter. So good! It's a very laidback atmosphere and they also have an outdoor patio for seating. Ordered a baked potato, chicken breast and greens at 3pm on a Friday. The greens were lukewarm. The chicken was cold. The $9 baked potato must have been sitting for hours, the potato was separating from the skin and had that nasty brown color. I was too hungry to take it back and didn't feel like bothering with the aggravation. The golden BBQ sauce and regular BBQ sauce had great flavors and they weren't too sweet or salty. $40 lunch for 2, way overpriced! Came in for a late lunch. Plenty of tables open on a Saturday and who can resist BBQ? My sister has a pulled pork sandwich which looked amazing! She lives here and highly recommends. We came here for a late lunch and there were quite a few people here. We always saw this place when we were in the area but finally tried them out. The menu had a lot of food that sounded delicious. We ordered one meat plate ($15) with pulled pork, chopped brisket, and mac n cheese and ordered another meat plate ($15) with sliced brisket, ribs, and potato salad. Two fountain drinks ($3 each) topped off our order. We waited a few minutes for our food to be ready since they were preparing it before we paid. The food tasted good and I liked the chopped brisket, sliced brisket, mac n cheese, and the potato salad. The pulled pork was okay to me and their cornbread was delicious. Of ALL the meats we tried, the brisket, chicken & pulled pork were the BEST we have EVER had!!! We had NO need to add any additional BBQ sauce cause it was so dang good as is!!! I find myself here every time I visit Phoenix. Joe's is just that good. From the food to the service, it's all so satisfying. I usually come with a group of people, so I always get to try a little bit of everything. The ribs just fall off the bone. The brisket is tender and cooked so well. The sausage has a great snap when you bite into it. The pulled pork is moist. The BBQ pit beans have a good balance of sweet and savory, and they're so hearty. The coleslaw has just enough sauce and isn't overly dressed. The cornbread is so soft, and the honey butter that comes with it pairs so well with it. I could have that every day. I can see why Joe's is an institution in Gilbert. No matter how much time has passed since I've been to Arizona, I can come back knowing that I'm consistently getting good food. read more

I love the BBQ and the two stars has more to do with the obliviousness to allergies. My husband told the take out server that I had a severe allergy to tomatoes that could put me in the hospital and asked if they could accommodate a side salad. The girl said yes I understand I have a pecan allergy I'll make sure they know. After we got home with our food I went to eat the salad. Thankfully I dumped out the salad onto a plate to mix the dressing in, and a big piece of tomato came out with it. It's really concerning that we spoke to them and did everything to prevent this and yet I still could have gone into anaphylaxis potentially died at minimum would have gone on a ride in an ambulance and had to stay in the hospital. Do not go here if you have a food allergy. This is not the first time I have had this issue with the Joes franchise I had a similar issue at Joes Farm grill. read more

I have been coming here for just shy of 20 years and have never walked out disappointed or still hungry. My dad and I argue what meal is the best deal. He will always get the 4 meat plate with a side of beans. I think he does this so he can take home leftovers. But I am a meat plate girlie, with ribs and the brisket (well worth the extra $1) with either the cheesy potatoes or the braised greens. The sauces are all amazing by the OG is special. Their homemade root beer is the only root beer I'll drink. It's creamy with a vanilla hint. It gets busy but moves quickly. There is always a place to sit, just look outside. There is another air conditioned area. I recommend getting a bottle or two of the sauce to take home because even though it's always worth the trip out to Gilbert for me, it's nice to have some sauce at home for any immediate cravings. read more

I have been here several times and the food here is consistently good. I love their salads and sides. I'm reviewing this for the benefit of those who aren't big meat eaters. I usually get a house salad which consists of mixed greens. You can add in black olives, cheese, green onions, spicy corn salsa, one top ti with corn bread croutons. Choose from vinegrett, ranch or Chipotle ranch for dressing. The salads here are good quality made with fresh ingredients. Also available for the vegetarian is Jackfruit BBQ. This is is a mock pulled pork. They also have a humongous baked potato with your choice of srveral toppings. Most of the sides are vegetarian also. I thought the service was friendly and the prices were decent. The portions weren't too bad either. This is my first BBQ experience in Arizona so I'm not sure how it compares to other places here. I know it's not the worst barbecue I've ever had, for me that distinction goes to Birmingham, Alabama. I like the flavor of their sauce, but there wasn't much and there was none on the tables. The meat was smaller portions, but the brisket was tasty. The pork rib was probably the flattest rib I've ever seen, and I think it had been sitting in a heater for a while because it was tough in spots. I ordered their greens for a side and while I don't cook them myself, I had a Southern, mother and grandmother who really knew how to cook greens. These greens did not have any flavor so I was quite disappointed and I don't think they were cleaned very well either because there was a dusty taste to them. The peach cobbler with ice cream on top was probably the highlight of the meal. I have no complaints with it whatsoever. I'm not saying I wouldn't try this place again, but I think I'll give some other barbecue places in Arizona a chance before I come back. read more

Came by here the other night for dinner with my friend. She got chicken and mac n cheese, I grabbed the pulled pork sandwich n then we both got cornbread. The line was crazy long but since they have it like a school cafeteria line, you don't wait too long for your food. There is A LOT of seating both indoors and outdoors. We stayed inside since it was a bit windy and cold. Everything was great, cornbread taste so delicious and looked like it's made right in the back fresh, no buttery needed. Just eat it. I'd honestly say the only downside is for such a large facility, the men's room only has 1 stall and 1 urinal which I'd hate to get stuck in a line when I need to go. ha ha But that's really not a big deal because the food is amazing, staff is awesome, they clear off tables super fast to make room for others and overall I'm 100% coming back to try other parts of the menu. For your birthday (you have to show your ID!), you get up to $14 in free food. I LOVE barbecue, so it was a no-brainer to come here. I ordered the "jumbo baker," which is a MASSIVE baked potato with butter, cheese, sour cream, and chives. You can get it with no meat if you want, but like, you're at a bbq joint, so get the meat! I had brisket on mine. I want another one already and it's only been 5 days. My husband had the four meat sampler plate, and devoured 90% of it. He said it was all delicious, but that the chicken was his favorite! I ate his corn bread that came with it, my fave! Loved it. He also got the Mac n cheese, which he enjoyed. There is plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor, so you can find somewhere you like. You get your own utensils and sauces, as they do not come out with your food. DISAPPOINTED!!! I was craving BBQ and I read the reviews (albeit mixed) and thought I would give it a shot. I ordered the 4 meat sampler and got a root beer cake. Literally none of the food was warm. The ribs were almost cold and they were dry, the chicken had a nice flavor but maybe room temperature, the pulled pork wasn't good and finally the brisket could have been great but it was very fatty and room temperature which doesn't make for a good combo. The cornbread was dry and that's what I was looking forward to that. The root beer cake was dry and not very flavorful. This place could be great but the food sits for too long and gets cold. Ordered a two meat got two St. Louis's ribs and four slices of brisket, cheese , potatoes, cornbread, and a root beer the brisket was tender, but a little bit overcooked lack flavor, unless you dipped it in their barbecue sauce, the ribs had a nice bark on it, but lacked a little flavor the cheese potatoes had no flavor to it kind of bland and the corn bread was a little dry. Food was delicious but I took a star off for the service. It was our first time here and the person who helped us looked like I was bothering her by asking a question about the food. No hello and no smile to begin with. When I asked about the ham and if it was on a sweeter side, their responses was " I don't eat it, never tasted it and have no clue. You can get it if you want but I don't know what it's like." It's ok to not have tasted a product you're selling, but there is a better way to respond when someone asks. Then I made the mistake of telling this same person what side we wanted and with attitude she told me "I don't do sides." The next person was a little nicer but still no smile or hello. Joe's has never let me down. I've had their food in person and via delivery. The quality in both instances remains the same, the best there is. I absolutely love when a restaurant takes the initiative to invest in their customers who opt to dine out. That said, Joe's restaurant is always kept clean and the staff is always friendly.
