Joe's Steam Rice Roll is delicious. It's also the busiest stall in the New World Mall Food Court. It took almost 30 minutes to get my rice roll on a Friday and lunch time. We ordered the Joe's Signature Rice Roll (beef, pork, dried shrimp, egg, and corn). I put peanut sauce, soy sauce, and chili oil on it. So good! We'll be back!

Large Pork Steam Rice Roll with scallions and bean sprouts

Had some of the best rice pork rolls ever from Joe's. The rolls were flavorful, thin and had a good chewy texture. They were filled with bean sprouts and scallions. I added chili crunch oil to the dish which took the rolls to another level. We shared a large order which was plenty since were tasty a variety of tasty foods in Chinatown. Service was good. Rolls are made to order and do take 20 minutes to make. The place looked clean and organized. Many people were in line so that is a tell tell sign the food is tasty. If I visit NY again, I am definitely trying some more of these rice rolls. So good!

Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I didnt find joe's good. I think the steamed rolls only tasted okay after adding the peanut sesame sauce, but it shouldnt be like that. If the steam rolls are delicious it should taste fresh and silky by itself, and joe's was not able to deliver that. I also ordered the soy milk and it was unfortunately quite bland with some graininess to it. Staff were nice and it came out fairly quickly. Plenty of seating inside the food court.

Smooth, silky steamed rice noodle rolls at this food hall location. Bunch of different filling combinations available from the classic shrimp and beef to "loaded" with shrimp, beef, roast pork. We tried the loaded and it was prepared fresh. We suggest to-go if you want to avoid the noise and crowds. Add a little soy sauce and enjoy. $10

Phenomenal. The quality and freshness of my Rice Roll with shrimp and eggs was top tier. It was the first time my wife and I have ever eaten it. It tastes how it look. The silky, smooth, and delicate rice roll was the perfect blank canvas for the shrimp, eggs, and other fillings. We topped our rice roll with chili oil and soy sauce. My only complaint is that we didn't get another one before our trip ended. Great price point and customer service from the young man!!

Located in New World Mall, near the bathrooms behind the escalator. Their rice noodle rolls are delicious. You can add an egg for an extra $1. Soy milk is $3. The wait was 35 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. There were A LOT of people. You have to find your own seats. Be careful!

I am not sure what my fiancé ordered but we were trying to have a quick breakfast after an appointment and everything from here is always so good. The rice roll is always so thin allowing for all the flavors from the toppings to come through. The other one was like a fried scallion pancake wrapped around meat which was also super delicious and lightly crispy. The service is always nice and quick which we enjoyed as well because we were both super hungry.

Why 5 stars? Because I have a confession: I love rice rolls. --- --- --- I didn't even know what a rice roll was, and I'm still not sure I do now, but what I do know is that I want them in my life as often as possible in the future. Via Jando's guidance, we visited New World Mall and went staight to Joe's Steam Rice Roll. I ordered one with Beef, Scallions, Corn and Lettuce and then sat at the table next to the stall waiting for it. As I waited, I realized I missed that one of the items is called "Joe's Signature", which I would have ordered had I seen it. I missed that because their monitors have some kind of Roku advertisement flashing on the screen intermittently, which hides parts of the menu at various times. This screen glitch is my one and only complaint about my experience. Fast forward to my number being called and, praise sweet baby Jesus, I was in heaven. This was "dance in my seats in between bites" good. I think it was a combination of the fact that I hadn't ever had anything quite like it, AND that it was so delicious at the same time. I ended up finishing this, and visiting another stall. What I ordered at the other stall was perfectly fine, but I kept thinking about my first true love the whole time. Eventually, I told my friend, "I gotta get another rice roll before I leave this place." Much to his dismay, I did. Round two was the aforementioned signature roll. And guess what? While also awesome, I think my custom concoction was even better. I'm a steam roll guy now and that's that.

Joe's rice rolls are delicious! It is located inside the New World Food Court in the mall. The rice rolls are made to order and you can add toppings inside as well. Each rice roll is around $6-8 depending on what you want. There are options for curry fish balls as well. Out of all the rice roll places I've tried, this place is my favorite! We got the fresh shrimp rice roll with corn and cilantro. It was fresh, soft, and tasty. Would definitely come back again!

Flushing location. This place is overrated. The space is so small. They have the first shop location in this small food court/hall, so they attract all the customers. The vendors in the back are so bored that they're on their phones. There is limited counter seating, and when people walk past you, it's easy to get bumped. It's not a comfortable eating situation for a big group for sure. I got the soy milk, and it was good. They have condiments, like soy sauce and chili sauce. No bathroom.

Maybe I had my expectations too high, but I thought that this place was alright. Now, a stall in the New World mall, this rice roll stand offers a variety of your favorite breakfast dish--rice rolls! They're made-to-order and you can also add a bunch of different toppings to your rice roll (on top of the three free veggie choices that you get upon ordering). I got their specialty rice roll, which includes dried shrimp, beef, and a couple other toppings. I thought that it was okay. Although it was filling and had generous portions of the meat, I thought that the rice sheets were a bit thicker than I would typically like. Nonetheless, it was still a good rice roll spot, but just a bit overhyped.

I've tried Joe's in the city and was happy to see that they had a location in Flushing. Joe's steamed rice roll is known for their authentic cheung fun. The rolls are made to order and steamed in front of you. During this visit I got the shrimp and egg roll. The roll was floppy and delicate, just the way I like it. The wait was short, but well worth it.

Steamed rice roll with minced pork

$5 for that plate, it was originally full I just took the pic halfway. Silky smooth and super soft layers, very appetizing, I needed to add soy sauce since I wanted more flavor. Choice of 3 vegetables, I chose scallions, corn, and lettuce, all 3 are pretty much nonexistent as you can see in the pic. Minced pork was in the steamed rice roll itself, some slices didn't have any pork. In summary very little minced pork, it doesn't contribute to taste. There's also a choice of if I wanted eggs, as in pic the egg was so thin and it fused with the rice roll skin itself, didn't taste like egg at all. In summary this dish is just if you want smooth rice roll skin itself. Toppings are nonexistent. But for $5 it's not bad.

Ask the Community - Joe's Steam Rice Roll

When is the best time to go in the weekend? Early in the morning to avoid long lines? thank you

Hi. You can call the shop 30Mins + and tell them when you wants to pick- up. That’s should be more convenient

    Are they gluten free.?

The rice rolls are, because they're made of rice flour. The sauce may not be if it's soy based.

How long do rice roll orders take? I wanted to try this place today and they told me it would be a 40 min wait for the Joe's Signature!

It depends on what day and what time of day you go but you can always order ahead in the phone. A lot of people do that so that's why orders take so long.

    Are there gluten free options?

    Do they do delivery?

I don't think they do but maybe a Chinese delivery service. Better to just pick up!

    Are they open during covid?

They just reopened for take out from 9am to 7pm

Is there any parking near the Flushing location? (Preferably not in a garage, and anywhere in relative walking distance.) Thanks!

There is a municipal parking across street of Queens Crossing building.

What is the brown sauce on the rice rolls? Do they put it on automatically, or do you have to order it?

Soy sauce. They give it to you on the side.

Service was minimal at best but they just seemed under staffed honestly. And when the server did come by, she was running quickly to and from. The place was not busy when my friends and I were seated. But there was a back room in guessing that had occupants since she was missing in the front seating area. (There was a two person table occupied in the front near us). My party of three over ordered but that was intentional because, any purchase over $100, you get a free lobster and each of us had items we wanted, figured we would doggie bag the leftovers. All in all a great value. The lunch spread had over 7 dishes and we got the free lobster. I was especially happy to see Fried Milk on the menu as an appetizer. They also provide complimentary salted peanuts and pickled radish and carrot slivers. I recommend the snow pea shoots, fried milk, clams with black bean sauce and the Chinese Broccoli with Filet beef. The other dishes like the lobster, noodles and sweet and sour pork were executed well but just not my flavor profile. And with my food allergy, I couldn't try the shrimp with walnuts but it was my friends' birthday so she ordered that for her treat. It looked great! There's complimentary parking if you validate your ticket with a nearby garage, but you need to spend a minimum.

The…read morerestaurant was fairly full and the strangest thing almost all the patrons were wearing their wool hats and coats while seated at their tables. We were famished and only focused on what yummy dishes to order. My wife, son and daughter all contributed their suggestions and we ended up ordering pan fried whole flounder, half of the roast chicken with garlic, filet mignon with Chinese broccoli, fried rice with chicken and salted fish and everyone's favorite dish salt & pepper squid. Once we placed our order and were enjoying the roasted peanuts and free spicy cabbage we realized why everyone had their winter coats on, it felt like they had the AC on and it must have been 55° in the restaurant. I told everyone that once the food arrived things would warm up. Each dish that came out of the kitchen was perfectly cooked and was delicious. The salt & pepper squid with it's minced jalapeños kept us warm enough until the half chicken with garlic and filet mignon and Chinese broccoli came out in rapid succession. The star of the show turned out to be the giant sized pan fried flounder which was not only big but quite scrumptious. Unlike the little scrawny flounder that most other restaurants usually served this was a quite large and very meaty and perfectly cooked. The last dish to come out was a very large plate of chicken fried rice with salted fish. If it were not for the lack of heat, I would have given Chef Wong Bistro 5 stars!

While the food isn't necessarily going to win any awards, their space as a venue is what keeps them unique. Couple this with free onsite parking and spacious digs, and it becomes a destination. The main dining hall is surrounded by bright lights, a large LCD TV, and number of tables that are perfect for groups. This is a pushcart service, which is good news for those who want the nostalgia of choosing things directly from the cart. Not all the service workers are Canto-speaking, as I heard dialects from Wenzhou, Toisan (#1), and likely Fukinese. During the late afternoon, it's important to flag them down because it may take awhile for them to make the full round. From chiu chow dumplings (潮州粉粿) to shrimp dumplings (蝦餃), the selection is standard and well portioned. The steamed variety is preferred here, with some immediate hits in the form of spare ribs (排骨), shrimp rice roll (蝦腸粉), and glutinous rice wrap (糯米雞). The coconut jelly (椰子糕) was especially wonderful and the BBQ pork buns (叉燒包) were nicely steamed with solid chunks of pork inside. Overall, I think the food was consistent, tasty, and well presented. Prices are solid for Flushing and won't break the bank. The gaudy decor extends beyond the main dining hall and all the way into the bathrooms.
