In my opinion, the adobo fried rice is the best bang for your buck. You have a large portion of delicious fried rice that could probably feed 2 people. The lumpia was alright. I wouldn't order that again. It only came with 5-6 pieces and was really light and airy. The sauce that came with it also tasted watered down. While most people probably go here for plate lunches, we stopped by for an inexpensive breakfast the day after we were married. Our resort was nearby, but their breakfast menus weren't that appetizing and pretty expensive for what you got. Yelp came to the rescue and we ended up here! I ended up with their version of French toast, which was amazing-it was fluffy, thick, and delicious. My hubby had the breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, Portuguese sausage, spam, and white rice, which he enjoyed very much. He insisted on having spam for breakfast at least once in Hawaii, so he got to check that item off the list! Both were under $10 per meal while stuff at resorts were $20+ per meal. If you don't want to wait an hour & spend a fortune at the restaurants upstairs, consider heading down to the food court for a filling and tasty meal at Joey's Kitchen. This is perfect vacation food in the sense that it doesn't taste very healthy - it's a cheat meal for sure! I got the garlic chicken plate and it reminded me of state fair food - very fried (like literally I think the chicken was dunked in a deep fryer) and saucey, but yummy. It comes with macaroni salad (DELICIOUS) and sticky white rice, mmm! My sister got the Hawaiian plate and was impressed by the authenticity (we found out the hard way that you don't eat the outside leaves on the pork lau lau! They're kind of like the corn husks on a tamale.) It was definitely an experience to remember! Looking at the pictures, you wouldn't have been really able to tell that Joey's Kitchen is actually inside a mall food court, but it really is. It took a while to find and parking wasn't the easiest since you had to pay if you weren't staying at the hotel or planning to shop. But I did it since the pictures looked pretty outstanding. It wasn't hard to the location once you found the food court and Joey's had a huge menu of options. I wanted to try to kalbi plate but they were sold out and it was barely 11am. The menu is heavily populated with grease, carbs, and protein so if you're the healthy watching your waistline or calories, this is not the place for you. But luckily for me, I'm not that person! Talk about my vacation body and diet, haha. Opted to share the Pork Adobo Fried Rice (8) and it was amazing! The rice was so fluffy and the adobo was so flavorful. It just seeped into the rice and you had adobo in every spoon/fork full! The portion was big enough for people to share and be completely full. It smelled delicious and tasted even better than it looked. I wish I had a chance to try everything at Joey's ... but the one dish was already a winner in my book. I mean if you mess up fried rice, can you even really be a restaurant?! They opened a store front in Lahaina as well if you're not a fan of the mall. Instead of a scoop of rice and mac salad, I went with two scoops of mac salad. Also their adobo pork is amazing, but be careful of the peppercorns! This isn't just a lunch or dinner place. I noticed Joey's Kitchen while walking around Whaler's Village on a recent visit to Maui on a brisk January 2020 weekend. It was nice to be able to buy dinner here and not worry about resort prices, although it's a little pricey here too. Joey's Kitchen serves up a plethora of local culinary dishes and treats that will likely get your tastebuds rolling. I arrived here around 6:30pm on a Sunday evening. I needed nourishment after running 13.1 miles earlier that day around Lahaina and needed some nourishment to recover and recuperate. I'm glad that I didn't have to travel far to get a nice option for dinner, although this place can get pricey. Joey's Kitchen is located in prime resort area, so it was basically intentional if you decide on spending money here for your dining options. Joey's Kitchen serves up local cuisine to everyone cruising around Whaler's Village for the day or night. I eventually settled on the loco mock plate with a side order of French fries. It came with white rice and the total cost was about $20. It was definitely a sticker shock to me, but as mentioned before, resort area prices and I just had to roll with it. I did enjoy the small little dining area that they have in the food court, where you can dine there after receiving your order from the counter. Joey's Kitchen is quite possibly one of the few local food places in Kaanapali without having to go outside the resort hub and not eat at the surrounding hotels restaurants. I didn't notice Joey's Kitchen on my last trip to Maui pre 2020. Probably they're relatively new, as of January 2020. The overall experience here at Joey's Kitchen - Whaler's Village was typical, fast food counter affair. It's your typical plate lunch type of thing, but more in a relaxed environment. It's nice that they are here, but surrounded by other dining choices that says we're here just in case you prefer something quick and easy, instead of the sit down dining option. Joey's Kitchen is basically a good choice for me, especially when I wanted to buy something quick and have it in my hotel room while watching television and wind down for the evening. The entire time I was there, the lady at the counter was nice and friendly. The service was fast and took about 7 minutes to make. As mentioned before, Joey's Kitchen is located at the Whaler's Village shopping complex in the heart of Kaanapali Maui. They are next to the Subway and the pizza joint in the mini food court on the lower level. They're next to the Ono Gelato, which is on the 2nd level of the complex. It's address is 2435 Kaanapali Parkway and they accept major credit cards, as well as cash. I actually had cash that day, so I paid that way and avoided a charge on my credit card. The best way to come here is to stay in the neighboring hotels. If not, uber and lyft can be your friend, as well as rental cars too. Public transportation is an option too, but it takes a while to get around the island. For the most part though, my experience here at Joey's Kitchen at Whaler's Village Kaanapali was nice and brief. The loco moco was good and delicious. Quite the standard that many Hawaii fast food places will do, where the main entree is presented with a scoop of white rice and macaroni salad. The plate lunch as it is called dominates the menu of Joey's Kitchen. I enjoyed the fries though, it was different than McDonald's. I think I prefer that over the other guys. As mentioned before though, prices here can be an eye opener, but it is what it is. If you're here on vacation and want to not venture fare for local cuisine, consider coming here to Joey's Kitchen in Whaler's Village. It is one of the places in the area that stands out because they're just a restaurant that serves good local stuff without the fancy experience. Best thing you can do on any given Maui day or night, is to come here and eat, then go back to the ocean. It's quick and easy, so you don't need to dress up for lunch or dinner. Come as you are and they'll be glad to have you. Recommended for sure, if you are in the area or staying here and don't want to drive anywhere. I know I didn't have a car and didn't want to do uber that evening to find a cheap place to eat. While Joey's Kitchen can be reasonable, in terms of pricing, you can't beat location. Especially when you can dine here and the views of islands of Molokai and Lanai are there in the distance. 3.5 stars for the overall experience. 3.5 stars for the food and service. 3.0 stars for the prices but I was in resort areas, so can't be helped. We had dinner at a nice farm to fresh restaurant the other night, but it still did not fit the bill of what I've been hoping to find... good and fresh Hawaiian food. Following the yelp reviews we walked ten minutes down the beach from the Sheraton Maui and ordered the tempura fish and chips (mahi mahi) and the tuna poke. Both arrived quickly and the fish and chips were one of the best we've had anywhere. Super hot, fresh fish, light batter and hot thin cut fries. Went back for dinner and had an encore of the fish and chips, plus a grilled fish special with Molokai purple yam, pear salad, pecans and edamame on greens --really remarkable combination and very well executed. Joey must be a great chef on his way to building a bigger restaurant with both creative and traditional dishes. Had several take out meals from here. The Garlic shrimp quality and dish was different the 2 times we got it so I assume 2 different cooks/chefs were there. Breakfast: 3/4/22 had French toast, they used thin white bread instead of the thick toast they used before but it was still good. The shrimp omelette was yummy. It came with toast and 2 packets of butter. To the staff: I would recommend putting the butter packets outside the food container cuz when I opened the box, they had all melted onto the potatoes and made the whole thing really greasy. Prices are sooo reasonable. I hope they keep them this way. For dinner went 3 times: best choices are garlic chicken ( fried boneless chicken with sides like mac salad and rice). Sauce is yummy, got it on the side to dip vs the way it comes is on top. Garlic shrimp ( head on prawns style) came 6 large prawns in the order and they were super fresh and not overcooked the first time. 2nd time the shrimp was a bit mushy ( 3/5) I enjoyed but wouldn't order again the ahi steak. If you like ahi steak then it's worth getting and much better deal than surrounding restaurants. The kalbi short rib beef was good as well. Good portions. Had the adobo fried rice: very good but waaaaay too much oil: save your oil or at least try to strain some out before boxing it! Lastly, the lumpia, came 6 to an order. Very crispy and tasty. I didn't like the dipping sauce it came with. Joey's Kitchen is the best deal around with the best food. The counter staff were really great too! read more

I had heard such good things about Joeys kitchen and was anxious to try it. What a disappointment! We ordered the shrimp pancit which was made with chow mein noodles rather than the thin rice noodles. The chicken chow fun had no taste and the chicken was chewy, and had way too much cabbage in it. The beef in the loco Moco was chewy, the egg over cooked, and the sauce was teriyaki rather than gravy. The potato Mac salad had a strange flavor like it was made with miracle whip rather than mayonnaise. The banana lumpia was tough and chewy. The portions were small for the price. Joeys is an affordable gem amongst the pricier eateries at Whaler's Village. This was our first time to Maui and we were surprised at the lack of plate lunch/local food options in the Lahaina area. We found Joeys on Yelp and the paper plates with large portions seemed right up our alley. We had the garlic chicken (breaded fried strips with sauces drizzled) which was flavorful and delicious. We also had the Kalbi plate that has a generous helping of really well marinated beef. This place is nestled in a food court but don't be worried. I wasn't impressed with the Shrimp Pancit. Typically there are vegetables in the pancit, but all I got was a lot of celery and lettuce pieces and maybe 5 strips of red pepper. That was it. We were super happy that they offered dine in options during C19 and all tables and chairs sanitized before and after use. So now on to the good stuff. We ordered the following: Kale Caesar with Tofu, Lechon Kawali, Kalua & Cabbage, Pork Pinakbet and Joey's House Fried Rice. The salad was the perfect fresh veg pairing for all the island style entrees we ordered. The Lechon Kawali was topped with a perfectly crisped skin layer while retaining the soft and juicy belly meat. The Kalua & Cabbage was an instant hit as well - with the perfect hint of salt and the shredded pork was so soft and moist - super good and tasted like they cooked it in an imu in the back! And the pork pinakbet - so fresh and so savory. It had the perfect blend of shrimp paste bagoong for the sauce along with the veggies and sliced pork in it - ilocandia style cooking at it's best! And the house fried rice, so simple but so ono - not greasy at all, and every bite was filled with your island faves of spam and portagee sausage and egg! If you are visiting in Lahaina, or Kaanapali, or anywhere in OGG, this is a must visit restaurant! This is a reasonably priced take out/fast casual dining restaurant in Whaler's Village. It's a hop skip from the Westin next door so made for a nice breakfast on 2 days of our recent visit. We ordered the breakfast burrito twice. It's not a huge burrito but it is surprisingly filling with potatoes, Portuguese sausage, rice and cheese. Even though it was tasty and filling I kind of wish they had skipped the rice. They also need a bit more salsa to go with this burrito. The short rib hash plate with eggs is a huge portion and also delicious. This could easily be shared with two people. Compared to sit down restaurants nearby this is a more affordable option and they have a good selection for breakfast and lunch. read more

There is seating outside because the place is located in an outdoor shopping mall. They validate parking and share the space with other stores including Subway. Breakfast is served until 11am, and then they have an all day menu with Hawaiian stuff like plate lunch, loco mocos, kalua pork sandwiches, etc. - Local burrito: garlic fried rice, bacon, egg, cheese, Portuguese sausage, potatoes - it's a pretty good size, though heavy on the rice. The garlic rice was nicely seasoned. Due to the bacon and sausage, it was pretty greasy by the time we got to the bottom (dripping with oil), but it was a solid burrito. It came with a small side of mixed greens - Shrimp avocado omelette: $2 extra for egg whites. Nicely seasoned, generous on the shrimp. It came with nicely crisped potatoes and toast The food was solid and pricing wasn't too outrageous for the area. $10 minimum for credit card, $15 minimum for parking validation. 25 cents for to go containers (if you want to take your food to the beach). I am giving 4 stars for what I consider fast food, NOT a restaurant. Joey's is located in Whalers Village in their super depressing food court. The most expensive HI island, and seriously, this is your food court? Regardless, you can easily order your food to go and eat it on the beach or at least outside at the tables if it isn't too hot. We tried their food first for lunch, then returned 3 times for a breakfast that isn't a bad price for Ka'anapali, and very good considering it's proximity to the Westin, where we were staying. I'm surprised that the local popular restaurants don't have breakfast - its easy to make money on breakfast with cocktails - on the beachfront? - so we instead headed to Joey's and could rely on their eggs cooked to order with breakfast meat and toast. At lunch we ordered the chicharron plate which was pretty tasty and HI plate with kahlua pork which was also good - yummy mac salad, too. The prices are pretty good, and the flavor was pretty good - some days seemed like more care was given than others - they could work on that - but we were happy to have this option as we didn't want to go to Relish when the renovations were obstructing the view. Sometimes the cashier was suuuuuuuuper nice, sometimes the other lady gave stink eye. If you don't like serving tourists, then sell elsewhere, because Maui's economy is built on tourism - most of us overtipping when a tip isn't required at all when someone isn't waiting on you. read more

I came here while visiting Whaler's village and would not Recommend. Nice people running the front-food was not worth the 17$ Rice was well cooked, mac salad good. I got the garlic chicken. It tasted like pre breaded chicken that was frozen then refried in dirty old oil. There was some drizzling of aioli and teriyaki sauce. All around was just not good fried chicken. I frankly have yet to be impressed with most food found on maui. I do live in an area with really good Chinese, Korean, Japanese and mexican food and love trying new places (I'll pay good money for good food always!)
