What a great place to spend dinner. The cheese curds was a great appetizer choice. The cold pitcher of beer with a good burger worked for me. Worst restaurant experience in a long time. Took elderly folks out for lunch. Service was absolutely terrible. We almost left before ordering, wish we did. Took 60 minutes to get our perch lunch after waiting 20 minutes to order. Waitress blamed it on a small grill. Really? Perch was barely ok at best. Potatoes and salads were not edible. Bread was very stale. Was the worst $15.00 lunch I could imagine. Service was as bad as the food. Other tables around us were composing too. Will not ever go back. Beware. read more

My Girlfriend and I Visited today (7-6-18) for a fish fry, my only complaint with the food was the lack of Parmesan on the sand dollars, Now the service I could complain about all day, 10 minuets to take our drink order (1 drink and a water) , 18 minuets to deliver the drinks and another 12 before the waitress came back to take our order. The food is and has always been great, the service is slow and lacking and needs improvement. If you have the time and are not in a hurry, otherwise go elsewhere. read more

A friend who used to live in Racine helped me discover this gem of a locals bar and grill on a recent weekend. A cozy nautical-themed joint a block or so off the main drag that I've somehow missed in several years of visiting Racine. This place reminds me of the charmingly divey bars and restaurants along the piers off Commercial Street in Portland, Maine. I never thought I could get that same feel so much closer to home. Go with friends and enjoy good times along with a cold beer and a heaping plate of fried seafood. The food was good but the service was horrible. It took 25 minutes after we were seated to have somebody take our drink order and then another 20 minutes before food order was taken. Our food arrived after 70 minutes of being at the restaurant and then 20 minutes after getting our food the owner came over and told us that it was time for us to leave as the next party was there and they needed our table. Never in my life has this happened at a restaurant. To make matters worse we had a large party of 13 and originally had two tables and they decided to put us all at one round tables so they could use the other table. We obliged them and squeezed in and then they never used the table where the extra people were at. Complete waste of our time and made it uncomfortable for everybody to squeeze in needlessly. We had to ask many times for things that we were missing such as drinks, soups and food. I will not be going back to the yard arm and would steer anybody away from them if you are averse to poor service. read more

Still about 3.5 stars. Stopped in yesterday to have a late lunch with my wife. Only a few folks there. they were getting ready for a St. Patrick's Day evening crowd. Wife had the perch platter ($14.95). 5 large pieces of fish along with sand dollars and some really bad vinegar based cole slaw. I had the small perch plateer, 3 large pieces of fish ($12.95). Nice lunch. Please note that the entire establishment is now no smoking. A policy that went into effect when they reopened after their winter shut down for cleaning. I applaud the move. read more

Have been going to the yardarm for 30 years. Of course I got the walleye sandwich. Big bun and one small thin piece of walleye. Half of it was practically just skin and breading. My first time here left a pretty good impression on me. Went there to catch up with an old friend and ended up staying til close. We were seated by a cute electric fire place away from the live music in the other room, per our request. Our waitress was phenomenal at attending to us although the place was packed. The food was ...meh, but the atmosphere and beers made up for the over cooked Mahi Mahi and tough tenderloin steak sandwich. The meals were not wprth the price (that and the blandness gives this plave 3 stars). Our entrees came with BLT flavored pasta and sand dollars (potato circles.) I was plesantly surprised to have our waitress say she left our tab at the bar so we didn't feel rushed to exit after our meals were done. My friend and I kept chatting away and she kept our beers nice and full. When we had our fill, we went to the bar, quickly found our tab and paid a pretty reasonable amount for dinner and drinks for two. Attire is casual. They take cash and credit. Parking lot in back. Live music most nights. Table and bar seating. Clean, rustic log cabin look. Friendly staff. Great little bar. Not so great kitchen. read more

Had I known the sisters were going to sell the place this spring, I would have eaten there every night savoring the atmosphere, the drinks, the food, and the staff. We loved walking the plank - which is drinking every on tap beer and root beer. So much fun! We took all our out of town guests here because of the super unique decor and layout. You felt like you're on a boat. Now it's Joey's. I went twice and sadly to report - the de-nautical it and replaced with alcohol typed stuff. The tables with charts of Lake Michigan are gone. I planned a trip at a dinner once. Now the perch is served on Wednesday or Friday. It comes on a metal tray that transfers the heat away from your food. The filet was crispy on the top and cold and soggy underneath. No ice cream as big as your head. No walleye fingers for the kids. They can have a hamburger just like any old restaurant. I've mourned the loss of my favorite Racine hangout and now moving up north. read more

A group of us came to Racine to do a little holiday shopping and we were looking for a place to have lunch. We checked Yelp and decided to try Yardarm. Boy am I glad we did. It's a cozy boating themed restaurant right on the water that is vintag-ey without looking out of date. One of the reviews boasted "best hamburger" and after reading that we fully intended to order hamburgers. Well the menu is full of fried delicacies like fried shrimp, which I ordered and fried cod which one friend ordered and my other friend was tickled to see fried bluegill on the menu. Well none of us ordered the hamburger but we were all pleased with what we did get. One of the owners (two sisters) stopped by our table and asked if everything was alright. We were very pleased that our "regular place" was closed and we discovered Yardarm. We'll be back next time we're in Racine! read more

Awesome fish fry with fresh water fish (I had perch). Classic Wisconsin style with a slice of rye bread. The sand dollars are to die for. Went on a Friday at 6pm. Very busy place on Friday for the fish. It's a small oddly laid out place with different rooms. It's tight quarters to say the least. The food I thought was quite good. I had the Cajun catfish, it was cooked very well and was flavorful. The sand dollars everyone is raving about are good but I thought they would be crispy like a chip, so I was a bit surprised when I actually took my first bite of one. Had their sweet n sour Cole slaw, not my thing, I'll try a different side next time. Overall I believe the average they have of 3.5 is a good average of what to expect. I would advise if you don't like tight spaces with people in close quarters try and go early or late, or maybe not on Friday. read more
