For this 18% automatic gratuity, you will be ignored, it will take forever to get your food, and will have to beg for a drink refill. Charming atmosphere....cozy....sand dollars are unusual and good.just one of the many cute places to go in Racine. * I had to laugh at the reviewer who said: " The neighborhood seems safe at the edge of Racine downtown..." People in Milwaukee (suburbs) think everything in Racine must be scary... when the opposite is true! It's a shame Racine has a bad image with Milwaukeans. Not sure why. Milwaukee is conservative in thought and if someone thought something was crappy in 1984, it must still be that way. I know too many people who will go to Port Wash and the two restaurants up there and think *how charming*...when Racine has so much more to offer. I have lived in Mil. longer than Racine (30+ years) and in my opinion Racine is such a great place to live! read more

Great. Obvious, love the nautical look. The food was ok for the price. The silver dollar are very good. I rather have one more fish then the side dish The pasta salad was bad and the coleslaw was very sour. When we put our name in the hostess said it would be about 20-30 minutes for a table. It took one hour and 30 minutes before we got seated. I would see people leave, but know one was cleaning up the tables. I counted 5 empty tables with dirty dishes. No one clean them up for about30 minutes The hostess was quite rude when she sat us. When we where standing in the hallway there was a group of waitresses gather in there station complaint about working. They could have been cleaning off the tables so we could have sat down and got our food. Don't know if I will be go back there. Racine has a lot of good restaurants I think I will try them. read more

We visited last night for their fish fry and was sorely disappointed. This place is not the place it once was. As long time residents of Racine, we are accustomed to the Long waits for a table but 45 minutes to get very average food and small portions to boot was such a disappointment. The legendary sand dollars (ours were limp and without flavor)are a thing of the past. We have always loved the ambience of this place but we wasted $50 on two dinners, one mixed drink and a glass of wine. Went home hungry! read more

Yardarm Bar and Grill is appropriate for this bar and grill tucked into a space besides a marina. The night we came (Wed.) has live music, but we were a bit early for that. The night we came was not a night when any clam chowder was served ... that's a Friday soup. It's too bad since we were looking forward to the chowder. We did order the perch platters. The perch/batter are made just right ... good batter, good perch. The meal comes with "sand dollars." Different. Good. Popular. I heard someone order sand dollars at the next table ... nothing else ... except for may the drink. The service was friendly, good and the prices reasonable. read more

I went here on a Sunday at 5pm. There is a pretty large parking lot to south of the restaurant. The neighborhood seems very safe being on the edge of Racine's downtown. I was in a group of 6 and we easily got a nice table in the corner. There are at least 3 rooms inside where you can sit and eat. The center room also contains the bar and the area where the cooking is done. I had the small perch fish fry. They have fish fry on every day. It came with sweet slaw that was pretty good, you can taste the nice apple cider vinegar. The french fries are really unique, they call them sand dollars and they are round and have cheese shaken on them. There were 5 pieces of perch. The waitress was very nice and competent and made just the right number of visits. Overall the meal was nice the price was $12. read more

Long time fan of the Yardarm; changed ownership, so we thought that we would try the new place for a meal on father's day. The layout is basically the same with a change in the grill placement and other changes in the bar area. I am vegetarian and could always count on the grilled cheese. Not any more, they don't have a grilled cheese on the (adult) menu. I tried to order it (how difficult can it be to make a grilled cheese), it was a terrible experience. On the menu was some sort of lobster grilled cheese $9. They wanted to serve me that, I explained that I was vegetarian. I was told by someone, manager?, she never identified herself, that I could get the grilled cheese for $9. ! really a $9 grilled cheese, same price as the lobster grilled cheese. I was taken aback at the price and said so. I was told by nameless that she had gotten only positive feedback on the menu prices (defensive). I was told that because it was a special order not on the menu (really a grilled cheese) I would have to pay that amount. After further conversation the unidentified person said that I could get it for less by a buck or two. Anyway I won't share the rest of the frustrating conversation just to get the dang grilled cheese, but when it came it had some sort of sauce on it that I didn't know would be the case, not happy. They ended up comping my grilled cheese because I wasn't happy with it. Like it was my fault. My daughter always get the chicken fingers AGAIN no longer on the menu. The nameless person tried to explain that they only had so many deep fryers and couldn't tie one up for chicken fingers. She was defensive and seemed frustrated and even my teenage son said that she didn't listen to me (and he is an expert). So she ordered a hamburger, which was more like a hockey puck. I did ask if the grilled cheese and chicken fingers could return to the menu; I felt I was scoffed at and told that they just had the menus printed and would NOT change them. I don't suppose they had ever heard of inserts. My son always orders fish, which he loves errr loved. The fish that he received was mostly breading, and smaller portion etc. The sand dollars portions were definitely smaller than we had been served under the former owner. I really felt that I was made to feel responsible for the troubles that we encountered. Guess what? We won't be back unless the call for a small basket of sand dollars becomes too much. But I am learning to create them at home. read more

If you go here for one reason and one reason only, it has to be for the homemade ice cream pie. On our yearly visit to the parent's boat in Racine, we were taken to the Yardarm for ice cream (beats DQ any day). The fiance was convinced that he could finish his own slice, while the parents and I shared one. We shared a peanut butter fudge and the fiance had the chocolate cookie dough. (I tasted both). Oh so yummy! The crust is made out of Oreos and the ice cream is packed hard and topped with whipped cream. Definitely a dessert to remember. Next year maybe we will try the food. read more

I was between a 3 & 4 stars for this place. You have to know going into this place that the decor and food is classic Wisconsin- dark atmosphere with lots of knick knacks all around, with lots of fried food options on the menu. The owners and servers were very kind. I had a really fun time eating here because of the people and the atmosphere. The food was good too! The sand dollar chips are the best!!! read more

We have been coming here for years because the atmosphere and staff are great. The vast majority of the time the food is also great, but there have been the occasional non-crispy sand dollars. The other side of that is say something to your server - if it isn't good they will address it. There is usually one of the owners on site. read more

It sucked. We got there at 7:30 ish waited 10 minutes for a table. Took just as long for the waitress to come over and ask us if we'd like anything to drink. By then we were calling another place to eat. Fried green beans were burnt black. Fish tasted gross. I ordered my fish sandwich on rye bread & got it on a burger bun! The two stars are for the music. The band playing the blues were great! The servers were nice and friendly. The food was bad. Their famous sand dollars were cold and rubbery. The perch was cold and over breaded. The sweet and sour coleslaw should have been called sauerkraut. The mahi-mahi was ok. I was surprised that the fresh steamed vegetables were heavily salted. The food is always great at the Yard Arm. It is one of the first places we visited when we came to Racine. Jay's Steak Sandwich is awesome. And the sanddollars are amazing. I would go to the Yard Arm just for the sanddallars. The service can be a bit slow sometimes. But that wouldn't stop me from going. read more

I was at the Yardarm to see the musician that was playing there on a Wednesday night. Service was great, everyone was super friendly. My favorite drink is a chocolate martini and this place made the best one I have ever had, hands down. And the sand dollars... YUM! read more

Friendly service and food came quickly. We were very disappointed! We ordered two of the 5 oz chuck burgers. The sand dollars had no flavor and were soggy- big disappointment. The burgers were even a bigger disappointment. My burger was so over cooked - I asked for medium and got extremely well-done. My wife asked for medium rare - not even a little pink showed - well done as well! The server asked how our burgers were we just nodded as we were struggling to swallow. We were in a hurry and didn't feel like waiting for another burger to be prepared; we will not be back. read more

We went there on Friday, since we hadn't been there in a few years, I thought we'd try it again. Now I remember why...we both ordered the fish platter. It was ok to say the least . I wasn't happy with the seating, we literally had people seated next to us facing right at us as we ate. That was kinda awkward ! We ordered the fish platter for an extra dollar you get to choose two kinds of seafood. I chose the walleye and shrimp. Very small portion for the price. One small walleye and six small over fried shrimp. They over piled the chips so the plate can look full. I went for the seafood, we were never offered a glass of water. We had to ask for some. My wife and I are constantly trying new foods and restaurants, but I can assure you that yardarm will not be one that we will be returning to. Thanks anyways. read more

The food and drinks are great. Don't try to go on a Friday night if you are in a rush! But if you can get to the bar to sit, it's worth the wait. The bar is a zoo when there is live music, and you really can't hear the music from the dining rooms. During my most recent visit, I was telling my sister how great the food was, but we were there to hear the live music. We decided to eat in the bar and it was a mistake. The bartender was holding open my credit card for the drinks we had ordered, but "couldn't find us" when the food was ready. When we finally went to check on the order after the woman next to us received hers, he handed over the food - all boxed up as a to-go order! The food was cold and the much awaited Sand dollars were soggy. When we told the bartender of the problem, he was argumentative and unapologetic. The bill he handed me included an order for someone else's meal, and when I pointed that out he argued about that. Other than the music, it was a very unpleasant and unfulfilling experience. Lived in Racine for 54 years and this place just keeps getting worse and worse. Limited menu with high prices; burgers cooked beyond well done (burnt on the bottom) and we asked for them medium. The wait in their "dining room" was over 1 hr for the food and the sand dollars were way over cooked. There really isn't any kind of a view from the bar (which is why we sat in the dining room). And the reason we got for the long wait was that a parade got out and everyone came in at once....well if you have seating for lets say 50 people then you need to be able to accommodate it as if they all came in at once - basic rules of a restaurant! And you would think a bar/pub would have faster service and great burgers, but not this place. We hadn't gone to this place in over a year due to poor service and food quality, but decided to give them another chance due to other folks giving great reviews....but I see nothing has changed. Very sad and will NEVER go back...don't waste your money. read more
