We had a car on our trip to Niagara, so we were happy to drive just a couple miles to some local places. Turns out Johnny Rocco's has a happy hour menu for several hours each day. We were seated near the back of the restaurant, which was fine since it was beyond the slightly noisier bar area. Looked like someone was setting up to play some live music. We may have also been seated there because it looked like a couple tables were out of commission with what looked to be a water/condensation leak from the AC. I got the Sicilian pizza, and it was pretty good. It was also generous enough for leftovers to enjoy another day for lunch. We also tried the fried rice balls, which I had never had before. So a meal of two pizzas and the rice balls was super affordable on the happy hour deal. If you're watching your budget, this is a great place for good, affordable food. read more

I frequent Johnny Rocco's often and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience or meal here. The atmosphere is so welcoming. The staff are always so friendly but, Logan is amazing. The guy is awesome and can't do enough for you. You'll never regret him as your waiter I promise. Spencer the manager, always visits and helps to serve the tables with the biggest smile. He NEVER stops and I wonder if he sleeps at the restaurant sometimes haha I've tried every dish and you can't go wrong with anything you choose but our go to's are the Chicken Parm and Salmon, the carrots are so damn good! Chicken is always cooked to perfection and that salad dressing is seriously the BEST EVER! No matter what you have you will never be disappointed AND it is so fairly priced. read more

Unfortunately we didn't get greeted until 5 minutes later plus we didn't get our drinks from the bar until after we were served our soup and bread. I got the potato bacon soup and it was absolutely delicious! She was very prompt with getting our soup and bread out. Unfortunately it was a lot of waiting game for the rest of the night. We waited about 20-25 minutes after we got our soup for our entree. They didn't come out at the same time and I'm pretty sure they only had one chef for the night. The tastiness of the food made up for the service. Our waitress was sweet but I'm pretty sure they over sat her as she taking tables inside and outside in the patio area. Decided to grab some Italian. Friday night is busy with live music. We got seated right in front of the live music, so it was impossible to hold a conversation. Got the chicken tettrazinni. Chicken was juicy but had no seasoning. The cream sauce was good, though. Noodles were a little overdone, but that's better than under cooked. Son got the baked chicken penne and loved the rose sauce. Wife and oldest son each got pizza and loved them. The inside had a nice casual ambiance and very typical for an Italian establishment, a party of five, we were seated immediately which was nice, given it was a Saturday night leading up to peak dinner hour. The service was average at best, our waitress was a bit scattered, stated she would bring bread to the table and took 2 reminders/requests before it was finally brought. For drinks we ordered a round of waters with lemon and she stated "unfortunately we are out of lemons" then later saw all other tables with lemons in their drinks. Despite the service, the food was amazing. Pasta cooked perfectly, sauces seasoned to perfection, and a very nice bake on the calzone. My one complaint was the veal in the veal parm was a bit tough but the breading had a nice crunch and flavor. If I'm ever visiting back in the area again, I would defy return. read more

Excellent Italian place. My friend said, "This is the best eggplant parm I've ever had." I loved the mussels in pomadaro sauce. It was very good. I also enjoyed the penne in a spicy tomato sauce. The eggplant came with two sides, my friend selected penne with freshly grated cheese and Cesar side salad, all of which was good. Our server was attentive for the most part but very busy on the Saturday night, which led to slow refills of our soft drinks, which is annoying when we spent the day in the hot sun with tourist trap places with huge lines and high prices for cold soft drinks, but completely understandable. I'm glad he was busy, working and earning money while too many other people continue sitting out the post-COVID-19 return to work time. An added plus to our server because after my request that my mussels be served in a sauce that was thicker than the normal "broth" stated on the menu, but rather the same sauce as used on the pasta, and his telling me he can't do it and my pushing back, he asked the cook and was told I can be accommodated. I'm not sure what the mid range rating is for. This place was delightful! We had great service, the atmosphere was wonderful and the food was delicious! It was family friendly too. I thought so many items on the menu looked tasty. I went for their lunch special sandwich. It came with a great side salad, which was more than your basic American side salad. This is the off the beaten path delicious restaurant with a full bar and would you believe they sell Veuve Cliquot (ask for the orange label bottle) got $37 Canadian !!! The spaghetti and meatballs with Pomodoro sauce is fantastic but we were highly recommended to try the buffalo wings with the whiskey sauce. Winner winner winner. Came out to Niagara Falls yesterday and decided to eat somewhere on Lundy's Lane because Clifton Hill can be quite overpacked to say the least. Decided we'd try this spot. We were seated on the patio which was nice but there is a high volume of traffic and noise. We heard three ambulances pass in our two hour seating. We noticed right away that the salt and pepper shakers were quite dirty along with the menus. They could use a wipe down. We ordered a Strawberry Sangria which was quite delicious. We also ordered Nonnas rice balls, chicken Caesar salad, classic burger and two kids meals. Let's first start with the rice balls. While the marinara wasn't too bad the actually rice ball fell flat for me. Was under seasoned lacking in spices. Overall 2/5. The Classic burger was just okay too. Again, lacking in flavour. The chicken Caesar was ok but I found quite a few pieces of rotten lettuce at the bottom of the plate. I recommend using higher quality croutons and parmigiano reggiano. It will boost the flavour. What I didn't like were the kids meals. My sons burger was a frozen patty (not fresh) and my daughters spaghetti and meatballs looked like it came out of a chef boyardee can. At last minute we decided to order a small pizza from there brick oven. It was also lacking.. I don't think they were using high end quality pepperoni or mozzarella. The service was good. I'd like to start by say the food was very good. I had penne with shrimp and a spicy red sauce. It had great flavor. I definitely recommend the build your own pasta. We also had the rice balls for an appetizer. They were delicious as well with the red sauce. The third such a pasta served in cream sauce with shrimp and chicken my boyfriend said was really good and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The reason I gave only 3 stars was simply because the staff at the host desk did not even look at me when I came in. After about 4 minutes of being ignored my 6'2 boyfriend walked in and then there was an attempt to help me. Also the restaurant was not that clean. There was debris all over the floor and our table we sat at looked like someone wiped it off but missed every crumb on the table. The place was packed when we arrived for dinner on a Saturday evening so we cozied up to the bar for a drink while we waited. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The mixed drink pitcher was a disappointment. It tasted fine, but the alcohol content was low. The 3 folks drinking that pitcher all commented that it was a weak mix. Low marks there. Our two servers were very pleasant and hustled the entire time. Top grades for their interactions and attentiveness with our group. Couldn't have been nicer and welcoming. My pizza, the "Johny" was good, but could have been better. I love mushrooms but couldn't detect many mushrooms at all. And I was looking for them. The chicken seems average to me. Lack of seasoning? Not sure how to improve the protein here but I noticed that it was lacking in greatness. The rest of the thin crust pie was pretty good. I liked the spices - zestiness - that I occasionally picked up. The rest of our group focused on pasta offerings. They gave high marks to: the LINGUINE PESCATORE, CHICKEN & WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO, MUSHROOM RAVIOLI and BAKED CHICKEN PENNE. Overall, very nice experience in the restaurant. Nice feel and I'd be happy to come back or recommend the venue. I would be certain to talk to the bartenders about the mixed drink situation. And if I ordered the pizza again, I'd ask to make sure the kitchen didn't come up shy on the mushrooms again. read more

I visited this place last Friday with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. Service was great! We were seated right away and all of our food came pretty quickly. Our two-person booth was a little tight, but didn't mind it too much. Our waiter was very pleasant and was sure to check on us. First they brought some warm bread with olive oil, which was a nice filler. My caesar salad was quite tasty and had a good amount of toppings. I had a simple penne with arrabiata sauce and added fiore di latte mozzarella. I'd say the pasta could've used a little more salt and some more of the mozzarella, considering it was a premium topping costing $3.50. My boyfriend had the bianco pizza and loved it. Took a few slices back to our hotel and finished them up soon after. I finished with the Toblerone cheesecake mousse which was super yummy. We will definitely be back. I am usually very easy-going and understandable when it comes to bad service, however, I had to write a review regarding my dining tonight. It was just me and my boyfriend and the restaurant was not busy as they were many tables available. It first started when we walked in and there was no hostess (which is fine, maybe they were busy) but after 5 minutes waiting we walked in and the bar staff looked at us as if we were aliens, I asked them if we could sit anywhere so this guys came and apologized and said he would get the hostess (he was very kind), while the girls behind the bar looked very annoyed that we were there. We sat down, our server came and we ordered our food. Once we got our meals, they gave my boyfriend the wrong order and we had to wait a few more minutes. The server brought his food and left quickly, not even asking us if we needed anything else, there was no time to ask for a fork as the server forgot to bring him one and I wanted to ask for Parmesan cheese. The food tasted fine, my boyfriend got the chicken parmigiana with roasted potatoes and he found one piece of penne in his plate (??). The server never came back to check on us. We were able to ask her the bill and as soon as we got home, my boyfriend had a diarrhea. Yesterday I went for lunch at Johnny Rocco's. I received the platter with assorted meats, cheeses and olives. (Essentially a charcuterie board) I was displeased with the value of this board, it was very skimpy if I must admit. I also ordered a side of fries. Our server Melissa took our order and failed to show up to our table for the meals entirety. In fact, our food was dropped off by another server. I had no ketchup for my fries, I even had to call on a different server to come out and provide us with our bill. Our plates were stacked, my cold fries half eaten, and both waters sat empty. I am quite disappointed overall with the experience. Not sure if I'll go as far as saying I won't be back. However, this was a textbook example of extremely poor service. read more

Good evening. I just had the worst experience ever at Johnny Rocco's in Niagara Falls. Usually, I have great times there, but tonight I'm very disappointed and angry with the customer service tonight and a bit disappointed in some of the food. The calamari has changed sinced rhe last visit. It was like the bagged stuff you get at the grocery store and the lemon aioli tasted like it was just plain mayonnaise that was just cooped out of the tub of mayo. We took the lemon wedge that was on the plate and squeezed it into the mayo just to add flavor. They missed adding a drink to our order at the end of the night. I had to do the right thing and told them they missed a drink order on our bill. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that they wouldn't accept a $20 voucher we received when we purchased gift certificates for Christmas gifts. What a kick in the knockers. This is what you get for being honest. The server wouldn't even look into it and/or communicate with the manager to check about this voucher. It literally says Johnny Rocco's on it. It's not the money or amount, it's the principle. This review is for the location beside Stone Mill Inn. (I couldn't find it on Yelp.) The place was surprisingly packed with people for a weekend. The service was amazing, but the food was a roller coaster ride. 1. The bread was warm and came with a nice sun dried tomato olive oil dip which was a nice start. 2. The salad portion was decent but it lacked taste. It looked like the house salad from East Side Mario's. 3. The Italian wedding soup was warm. I like mine steaming hot!!!! The portion was small. It looked and tasted like it came from the can. 4. The best dish was - the Chicken Wings!!!!! They breaded them, tossed the sauce lightly so it wasn't fully covered in salty sauce. It came with 4 carrot sticks which is nice for a change of flavour. 5. My primavera pasta was a good portion with enough veggies. However I would have like it in another type of sauce. And it was just warm. I want it hot!!! 6. My partner had the veal parmigiana with penne pasta and it was a tough meat. After speaking to the manager, he was able to change it to a chicken parmigiana which was a lot better. Tender and moist. They brought the dish out very soon to our surprise. So indeed they know how to please their customers. The way to get to the washroom was interesting. You had to pass by the open kitchen and the pizza making area. So I was intrigue by it. This was the best mistake I made.....our intention was to eat at the restaurant next door but they were closed. I am so glad! The food was really yummy! I started out with the house salad with the house balsamic vinegar dressing--- it had garbanzo beans--- nice surprise. I tried my friend's Italian wedding soup---yummy. This was a new soup for me. Fresh bread and olive oil for dipping--yummy. Carb loading the night before the race. The calzone was huge with a flaky crust full of meat and veggies. The crust of the pizza was also very flaky. The chicken Parmigiana was tender, juicy, and covered in gooey cheese. But I still had more fresh cheese grated on top of it and the spaghetti--- more carb loading. Came in on a busy Friday evening and they were able to seat our party of 5 almost immediately. The decor is simple, think lots of wine bottles and random bottles of olive oil and boxes of pasta. We shared a rice ball appetizer, which was generously sized (4 large balls), salads were plentiful, and bread service was pleasant. Informed waiter of my wife's allergies (sunflower products, nuts and green onions/shallots). No problem, he said, we don't use those here. Then my daughter received her Parmesan potato chips (so-so) covered with a layer of green onions. Not a big deal, she's not allergic. Then my wife gets the Parmesan risotto covered with a layer of green onions. For a place that doesn't use them, they sure use them a lot. It took 8 minutes for another fresh bowl of risotto, which was disappointing. Our waiter was stretched thin. Took multiple attempts to track him down for the bill.
