5 of us drove out to Kapolei to eat lunch at Johnny Rockets at Ka Makana Alii. It is located a few steps from the theater and Old Navy. When we entered there was no one at the podium to seat us so we waited a bit for someone to show up. Finally a guy shows up and although there were so many unoccupied tables he sat us on the left side way in the back with the sun hitting the table even though we asked if we could sit on the right side. This would have made me rate this a 1 star but... It earned it's 2 nd star since it has rides snd games for kids and adults both once you purchase a card which you slide to start all machines. Beware cuz if you slide it and it appears to not be working, don't keep swiping it or you may end up playing the same game 4+ times. It earned it's 3rd star because the assistant manager allowed us to move tables as she had helped us when we asked about the machine which of course started working after my daughter asked. It earned it's 4th star since our server was so personable and friendly as he saw us wearing Little Pony Hats for a belated birthday lunch for my granddaughter. Came here for a child's birthday party. It was the first time I've been and the first time I realized it was kind of like Chuck E Cheese. I'm going to have to say the food was not great but all we had was the pizza and the chicken wings. The pictures of the burgers looked good but I did it have one. They have a bar with TVs, a whole bunch of kitty games and a diner and cubby area. This place was pretty large for the amount of people that were working last Sunday. We ended up sitting ourselves. Located at Ka Makana Ali'i, this location is super convenient for the West Side. If you have kids or just want to go out and have a fun evening, this is a great place. There's plenty of parking at the mall. The restaurant is bright, welcoming, and open. It's got a lot of bright lights and visual stimulation. The seats are roomy and sitting booths each have their own flat screen tv mounted on the walls. Nice touch. The food is pretty standard. Pizza, salads, burgers and fries. etc. The best part is you can order alcohol too. They have a great party menu that offers up deals on food and game cards. The games are pretty updated. There's a good mix of arcade games, skills games, and claw games. There's something to play for everyone. Overall a pretty nice place to take the kids out. We went to Johnny Rockets to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I made a reservation in advance online on the RockNFun website. The staff were very helpful and courteous. Jeff our server was very understanding and awesome. I asked him multiple times for milkshakes cause you know if if one kid wants a milkshake, the others will want to order a milkshake. He always asked if he could get us anything and was nice enough to get us plates and forks for the birthday cake. The food was great, perfect for kids. My family had a blast. Standard burger joint but what sets this apart is the kids arcade section. I was able to enjoy a great burger (sourdough burger) with onion rings. Ask for the spicy ranch on the side and you won't be disappointed. I sat at a table and my server Carson was great. Checked on us constantly and refilled all our drinks. Seating both inside and out. I took my daughter here on Black Friday and we sat at the counter. We both ordered burgers, but she had fries, I had onion rings. The food? Average! The price? Fair! After our food, my daughter wanted to share a strawberry Oreo shake. Winna winna chicken dinna! They gave us the full glass, and the metal cup leftovers! We enjoyed every bit! Cool new place in the new mall. Heard about it from my sissy and friend and thought the kids would have a blast...dining/seating area is small in comparison to arcade area and bar. Decided to redeem tickets, prize selection for less than 150 tickets were disappointing. My kids prefer the ride on games and the claw prize games over ticket winning games so I could see their disappointment when we pointed out the prizes they could pick from. Heartbreaking! As the kids were picking out their awful prizes, our buzzer went alerted us about our table so we quickly shuffled our way through the game room and to the host. I must say, I like that they have a place to wait around for a table and entertain the kids because the day was hot outside and the mall has little to zero shade. Makes me wonder about what it's like when it's pouring rain out there. Anyways, our waitress passed us about four times and each time she said she'd be right with us. After finally taking our drink orders she came to us with sodas with no ice explaining that they were out of ice and that she'd bring us some asap. After ordering our appetizers and meals, she came and dropped off a glass of crushed ice...hmm no bueno!! I don't get why she couldn't take our glasses, remove the warm soda, add ice, then refill. So we figured she meant for us to pour our own ice into our cups. Fine! We didn't have to wait too long for our food, the flies didn't wait long either. As soon as our food touched the table, huge horse flies swarmed around us. Let's just say that after lunch my two year old learned how to shoo flies away and sing "shoo fly, don't bother me"!! We had to ask for napkins three times, along with some other customers around us. Check out was taking a while so I decided to stand up in the line to pay our tab...the line moved slowly, not sure why because I was third in line. When I finally got to the register, our server was there cashing out some other tabs and when I showed her my receipt she said "dine in customers pay at the table" without glancing at me...I think she saw my expression and she stopped what she was doing and looked at me then apologized, took my receipt and my payment. First time to a Johnny Rockets. Cane for lunch and it was fairly empty now that most schools are back in session. We ordered: Loaded street bacon cheese tater tots - it was ok, seemed far less than shown in the picture on the menu. Onion rings - good Bacon cheddar burger - Yum! Spicy Houston burger - good Smokehouse burger - good Oreo shake - Yum! Kid's chicken tenders - good So they are known for their burgers. I would say ranking among burger joints falls in the same rank as Teddy's. I definitely like Johnny Rockets better than 5 guys. Not quite as much as I love In n Out. Hands down better than all the fast food joints. Although I have yet to try a Sonics or Red Robin.. but I like burgers. It's messy and meaty. What's not to love? Lol Service was good. Our waitress was attentive. Albeit her tables were on opposite ends of the place so she had a distance to cover to keep up with all her tables. Which isn't her fault. Price of our meal was fair. Maybe we went on a bad day? Service was slow for starters and our server was literally waiting on us and running the bar as well. 15-20 minutes to get our order taken and another 20 or more minutes to get our food (maybe longer). We ordered a bunch of starters and couple of chicken tenders. Us adults loved the wings/sauce (BBQ/BUFFALO). My kids ate some tenders and mostly cheese/bacon fries but everything else wasn't a hit for any of us. We had water to drink l, four keki milkshakes and a bill that came out to almost $100. The food portions and taste definitely wasn't worth the money in my opinion. Tuesday night. Seated immediately. Our server, Jeff, was super helpful and was attentive to our table! This is the 2nd time we've gone there for a little birthday dinner - once before the pandemic and now. Perfect environment for 3 kids under 10 years old. Absolutely love love love that it's 1/2 restaurant seating and 1/2 arcade. It's nice that the kids weren't just stuck at the table for our whole family dinner. They could run around and come back for more fries/shakes and then run around to play games again. Burgers, fries, chicken wings, grilled cheese all basic and tasting as expected. Oreo milkshake was thick and yummy! Straws for the shakes aren't the greatest but we just opened the cap and drank it directly from the cup. Ended up giving our kid the cutest milkshake mustache so we took a picture! With inflation and general rising costs of everything, the price was as expected too. As the night went on it got more crowded since the games are 1/2 on Tuesdays for their members. But still not overwhelmingly crowded. The grill chicken sandwich on sourdough was real white meat chicken. The bacon was thick and not super fatty. The sourdough slices were toasted and buttered lightly. Not gonna lie, I had low expectations from the reviews. But Jeff and the team were on it. We had my nephew's 1st birthday here, there was 22 of us and they accommodated us so easily. Reservations done online and we called to confirm everything, online was a little confusing but that was the hardest part. Not only was the staff amazing but the food was really good too. I thought Johnny Rockets was known for their burgers and shakes but the pizza and wings were so good. I'll also be coming back again for the chocolate peanut butter malt my family pounded the food too fast so I never get pictures there's also a good selection of games! We've come here twice in one week which was yesterday and Monday. What's really weird was that on Monday, our movie started at 1pm, so we were there about 1230ish. We ordered chicken wings and some beer in which we got the wings half off, and our 16oz heini for 3.00! Score! Now, we went back on a Wednesday, about 2:55 and put in an order for the beers and wings again. We're eating and to make conversation we tell the worker "this is a good happy hour!" She then tells us oh the food is only half off from 3-6pm and you ordered it before 3, like whaaaat? That information is not advertised (also took a picture of that menu), AND really? As a worker there knowing that info, wouldn't you tell your customers this? We tell the next worker (shift change) because we had no idea about the food, and she tells us it's okay, and she would give us the half off price. Which was nice; hence the 3 stars ;) so we proceed to order the flat bread pizza. Number 1, not flat bread. Just dough shaped in a rectangle. Number 2, we saw it sitting in the window for about 10 minutes and 3 workers walked right by our pizza. Nope not busy, there were only us there. I went here one time prior and the most recent time on Mother's Day. When I told the hostess I needed a table for me and my 3 small kids she asked if minded leaving my stroller at the front. I said I didn't mind. But then she disappeared to ask the server or manager. It took a while. It confused me bc I said I didn't mind. Any way. We got seated. The food is mediocre at best. Sorry Johnny Rockets. Some of that has to do with the fact that I don't eat a lot of junk food and the rest that it just isn't made well. My server was nice and attentive though. The games are fun but maybe because it is geared to attract older kids too, the games are ridiculously expensive. $113 dollars in an hour gone. Most games around the 7-10 "credit" range to play... not sure how it breaks down. I have heard they want to make play cards specific to location but idk how true that is. We only have one location in Hawaii so it doesn't even matter yet. I also noticed MVP patrons receive a whole 1 credit discount on games. So this was not good from start to finish. First I check in at the host stand and I'm told it'll be 30 min and I get a buzzer. I load my kids card up and tell Him he has a 1/2 hour to play. Right as he begins his first game the buzzer goes off? Ok they were mistaken about the wait, no problem. I tell him as soon as he's done come to the table. I head to the bathroom only to find out you need a code to get in?? Um it's in the back of the gaming area, tons of kids and you need a code to go to the bathroom. Ok whatever....so I get the code, finish up and now it's time to order. Everything is ala carte except the kids meals so ok I order a sandwich, side fries and a coke. They literally gave me a spoiled/ burned sandwich which I can't believe they actually served it and charged me for just the fries and drink! Decided to come eat here so that the kids can play some games after they are done eating lunch. We came at about 11:45 and it was not crowded at all. We were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and was good about explaining the menu and how it works since it was our first time there. He said that all burgers are customizable and that there are no sides that come with the burger. You must order that separately. The kids decided to get the chicken tenders, which does come with fries and a drink. You can upgrade the drink for $2.50 or so to a shake. My daughter got the Oreo shake. The Oreos were big chunks and towards the end you have to eat it with a spoon. There were about 3-4 pieces of chicken tenders. Kids loved it. My husband ordered the double bacon burger. He loved it, but couldn't quite finish it. I had the veggie burger with bacon on an udi bun (gluten free). They have many options for buns (brioche, wheat, or udi). They also have veggie, beef, or chicken. They offer salads and even hotdogs. There is definitely something for everyone. We also got a side of tots and chili. It is definitely enough to share with two people or more. The tots were nice and crispy. The food was ok, nothing super spectacular. The games in the facility weren't quite age appropriate for young children. They are geared more for 10 and up. I think that there were 3 or so rides/games for young children. The crane games were also very difficult and even if it picked up an item, once it got to the top it dropped it. They should be a little more lenient on letting the kids win more often. I appreciated that in addition to an arcade, there were lots of tables and areas for seating. Big plus, there's a bar near the arcade games with TV's to catch your favorite sports games. Since we were grabbing a quick bite, we sat at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly & attentive. We put in our order and our food came out rather quickly. It's a food, fun, and games type of place but so far I've only ever come here for food both times I regretted it. I'm sure the games are fun it's like being at a fun factory/ Chuck E. Cheese. I ordered the chili cheese tots, sourdough patty melt, and my sister got the bacon cheddar burger. For drinks we got a strawberry Oreo shake and a regular Oreo shake. Everything was horrible and would not recommend. I kept the half of the sandwich thinking maybe my son or husband would want it but it smelled so bad like dog food I had to throw it away. My sourdough patty melt was not sourdough at all instead I had the option of white bread or whole wheat. The Oreo chunks tasted stale. For the chili cheese it's supposed to come with onions and I asked for it on the side but he ended up not giving it to us at all. I wouldn't come back here for food. Johnny Rockets is located in the Ka Makana Alii mall next to Olino theaters. It is a mini fun factory that also has a dine in restaurant. Atmosphere: Its a great place to take the kids when they want to play games. Bonus: When they are hungry, you don't need to leave since they serve food. It can get loud depending on the time of day you go cause there will be kids running around and screaming at every single game. Food: It is a burger and fries joint. So don't expect the soups, salads or pastas. What I don't get is how the burger and fries are 'a la carte'. It essentially makes things more pricey because you have to buy everything separate. Instead on upgrading to onion rings or tater tots (instead of fries) for an additional charge, they got rid of that completely. We paid for tater tots that were topped with cheese and bacon bits, and it was not worth the $6 price tag. We got the Route 66, Smokehouse, keiki grilled cheese, and keiki mini sliders. We enjoyed the food, just wondered why they decided to aka carte their food. They also mentioned that they don't serve fruit punch. When I asked the server why, they said it was because they "forgot" to put it in their order. Umm ok. Overall, we have had wonderful experiences both times we've been here. Love this place! I'm so happy they chose Kapolei for this experimental store! Having the amazing food Johnny Rockets is known for mixed with a family arcade is priceless. They even started doing pizza parties !!! The prizes for the games are top notch and the best selection on the island for kids. Not as big as a Dave & Busters of course but just perfect. They have a happy hour, a kids menu, and even show sporting events. The bathroom is baby friendly with a hanging station. The only thing I wish they had was a stamp thing like chunky cheese does so no one walks out with your kids. All the workers are super friendly, no matter what time of day. My kids loved their burgers and my salad was excellent. Service was fast and courteous. Very attentive and accommodating. My kids then went to explore the arcade and when they returned said that the VR rides are top notch. They even got a gum shocker toy that my youngest was trying to make me pull. I ordered the Teri-Beef Gf Burger with the Pineapple on the side, the bf ordered Route 66 with a large side of Onion Rings-I began with my Strawberry Oreo Cookie Shake-then the Burgers came-the pine apple wasn't placed on the side- then when it came paying for the bill, the waiter gave us another customers bill instead? The whole experience, 3-they didn't have wet naps for the messy burger eating moment, the waiter gave us the wrong bill, and the pineapples wasn't placed on the side- ( I dislike pineapples) will I go back, sure, but make sure that you check your bill. Sat pretty quick with a party of 5 and was able to order with our waiter in a timely manner. Our food came out pretty quick... But I was NOT very pleased with the food. Everything is Ala carte and our waiter did not notify us about that. The cheddar fries were not as appealing and the taste of the cheese was very much like cheddar cheese that I would use for grilled cheese sandwiches. The shake was not all that great and tasted more so like pure milk. Overall our waiter forgot utensils for our salad, he never filled our water, and our ketchup was empty. Read alot of bad reviews about the restaurant and owner Jeff but he was really nice and professional to us on this night. Food was pretty good too. Service was quick and clean. Nice way to end our Wednesday evening. read more

Getting better. Plenty of mall parking. Nice selection of games. Food is improving. Service today was average. Although not busy our waiter checked on us once. Nice option for a decent burger FYI need code for restroom. read more
