Johnny tomatoes went above and beyond for my order that a food delivery platform really messed up. A huge shout out to Jen...she was awesome while we both tried to figure the mess out. No shout outs to the delivery agent who really wanted nothing to do with it, but refund 5 dollars on a 30+ order. i just moved to the area from NJ and tried a few different pizza spots with very low expectations. johnny tomatoes brought my tastebuds back to life. nothing will ever compare to a NYC slice but this place will taste like heaven after you've tried the rest. bravo! we'll be customers for a very long time. read more

Let me start by saying I am a northern born and bred and I've lived in North Carolina for 5 years and food is my passion. I can say I have been searching for a authentic New York pizza joint for all 5 years i have been living here and when I walked into Johnny's i immediately knew I was going to leave feeling satisfied and FULL. I ordered a pepperoni, meatball, and garlic Stromboli and a cannoli with a drink and when I food arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the portions...HUGE... From the moment of my first bite until my last I felt like I was transported to home. I couldn't ask for more when looking for something to fill the void I have from missing this type of food. Then I finished my main course and took my first delectable bite of a true blue cannoli, yum is the only word to express my feelings on the cannoli. The staff was amazing and friendly and notified me they DELIVER depending on how far you are. Pizza was so soggy crust was awful. I was very disappointed every one said how good it was. I'm from up north and it didn't compare.

Not bad, decent crust, decent sauce OK cheese. Staff was a little lackadaisical in the front of the house but the pizza maker in the back came out and talked to us and asked how we enjoyed our food. I would say it would be a great takeout place or for a quick lunch. read more

I don't have anything bad to say about the food or the service, it has been good every time. The problem I have is the phone system is so difficult to get through it's always says "user busy" and if you do get through the call gets dropped sometimes. read more

First visit last night. We had two pizzas, a large pepperoni and a large combo, and were delighted!!! We picked up so we were able to meet the friendly staff and enjoy the nice, clean restaurant. The large size pizzas were ample, great for a family of six ;) The pizzas were very tasty, had a wonderful crust, and the perfect amount of cheese and toppings. Was surprised that we have a state ordered mandatory mask mandate and none of the employees were wearing masks. Ordered a several pizzas, pasta and rice balls. The pizzas and pasta were bland and nothing special. The rice balls parm were very good. The menu stated sausage and mushrooms - if either of those were in the mix it was trace amounts. Too many great pizza options around to return for a second try. read more

Pizza is decent, a bit expensive tho. The Stromboli's are good but the sausage skin has to go. The last two times we got the Stromboli's the sausage was not that tasty and too much, too much skin! Perhaps some different sausage will make things better. With that being said we're going to have to for another place for Strombolis. read more

We've had 4 pizzas from here. My NJ hubs says pizza is real NY style. Thin crust is good but often soggy in the middle . Flavors are good but we prefer a more crispy center crust. read more

Recently catered a party from Johnny Tomatoes, they are the nicest family to deal with. The food is absolutely amazing. Best pizza I've had since moving out of Brooklyn. Their heroes are fantastic, they key to a great sandwich is to start with real authentic Italian bread, and Johnny Tomatoes nailed it. I highly recommend their eggplant parm and their potato croquettes as well. This will definitely be our new "go to place" for catering. Sorry I don't any pictures to post. A+ for Johnny ! read more

This was my second time ordering from Johnny Tomatoes. My wife ordered a large cheese pizza and requested curbside pickup. I went to pick up the pizza and the parking lot was full. I called for my curbside pickup but no one answered. I decided to put my mask on and go in. When I entered I was shocked to see customers waiting in line with no masks on. I understand that it is the choice of each individual customer whether to wear a mask or not. I totally respect that this is a choice for the customer. However, when the state has mask mandate I expect that if you operate a business (especially a restaurant) within the state that you and your employees wear a mask especially if the employees have direct contact with the customer. To my surprise, neither of the two employees at the counter were wearing masks or any kind of face covering. There was also not proper social distancing between customers at the counter. I found all this very concerning and made sure I took the proper steps when I left and got home. When I got home I opened the pizza box to find out that I did not get what we ordered. We ordered a cheese pizza and got something that was not even close to just being cheese. I decided to call and let them know. When I called I talked to a young lady who didn't really seem to care. She didn't offer to fix the problem she just apologized. I ended up throwing the pizza out, no one in my house likes what I received. Might as well of burnt the money. I liked the pizza I got the first time, but obviously not tonight. I know everyone has a bad day and I don't expect perfection but I do expect to get what I ordered. If I do not, and call I expect a satisfactory option to correct the issue. I hope you correct these issues but I personally will not be back due to the obvious of lack of care and concern for the customer (wearing a mask during a pandemic), and not offering to solve the issue of an incorrect order. read more

We stopped in this place after hearing that Steve Sileo, of Sileos NY Deli and our fellow NYer said the food is great. Steve's food is great so we trust his review. My husband and I shared a chicken parm sub and it was the best I've had here in NC because the cutlets were pounded thin and coated in bread crumb. I liked the sauce and the cheese and next time I'll order extra because that's how I prefer mine. Tasted great and plenty of chicken on bread they make in house.I saw a potato and egg sub and a rice ball on the menu too and I'm going to say I've never seen one on a menu anywhere in Charlotte. I'm interested to try some pizza or a pasta dish next. For context , we grew up in Queens and lived in LI. We've had lots of pizza/Italian food.
