My experience was decent. First time at this location, i typically go to Huntersville. The wings weren't good. The temperature was very hot, which is a plus. When I ordered, I asked for mild. I came in to grab pick up needless to say i found a gem in my own backyard. Quick, efficient, professional. The guy at the register made me feel welcome. Probably the most welcome ive felt in north carolina in awhile. Guy knows his boxing. That cheered me up. The kitchen is on full display and it is clean. I love that. But the food was even better than i had hoped. Just from the smell i wanted to pull over and dig in. The single slices are huge. The smallest pie is sizeable. This is a delightful mom-and-pop style pizza joint in the Ballantyne area. There is plenty of parking in the shared parking lot. They have super large slices of pizza. You can get a variety of different Italian items like calzone, Stromboli, etc. the pizza was pretty good. It appears that they sponsor and get back to the community for children's athletics. The place was clean. They have indoor outdoor seating. The staff were friendly. If you're looking for a nice slice of New York style pizza, this will be your place to go to. Tony's is the best place for no frills Italian food that hits the spot. I typically get the eggplant parm platter and it is a generous helping of eggplant, spaghetti and a side salad. It's normal for me to get two portions out of a serving. My fiancé enjoys their calzones because of how generous the sizes are and though there's an up charge for the premium toppings, they seem to include quite a bit of each ingredient. Horrible service! I ordered a double pepperoni pizza, a steak and cheese pizza, and 8 piece boneless chicken with BBQ on the side. I placed the order online through Tony's Pizza website. The order was to be ready by 5:30 pm today. I arrived at 5:45 pm. I was told by the woman running the orders on the line that my food would be ready in 5 minutes. I thanked her and waited patiently. 10 minutes passed and I inquired how much longer it would be. She had the ugliest reply so much so that her male colleague with glasses had to intervene. He said it was coming right out it and with a few minutes I received what I thought was my order. I arrived at my location to find that my entire order was wrong. I received a cheese pizza, a chicken sub, and toasted ravioli. I immediately called the restaurant and the female employee who was running the tickets answered. When I explained my order was incorrect, she preceded to question me as to why my order was incorrect. I stated because I didn't receive anything I ordered online. She asked me my name and I'm positive that's when she realized she gave me "David's" and not "Davis." At this point, she said, "Well I'm not sure why you have that order while your order is here. Why do you have that order?" I said, "Ma'am, I didn't grab the order from the counter, you handed to me." From there, the conversation turned hostile. She did not apologize for her error and told me to contact Doordash for credits or a refund. I explained for the fifth time that the order was through the website. Although the website may be powered by Doordash, this order would not show up under my DD account. She continued to repeat the same statement and cut me off enough times to turn a simple misunderstanding into an unfortunate and nasty experience. My brother had to take over the conversation but to no avail as the employee continued her belligerence. My brother asked for the manager's contact information and she refused. That is unacceptable. To make matters worse, she hung up on him. Sadly, Tony's was requested by my brother for his birthday, the same brother who got hung up on. It was a one hour roundtrip to get to this location. Moreover, it was my first experience at Tony's Pizza. As a family, we will NOT go back to any location. The food isn't worth the worse customer experience I've ever had. Sadly disappointed today I haven't ordered from Tony's in a while just because I heard some racist comments from the staff. But my mom really wanted a slice of their pizza before she died. I know this sounds like I'm being ridiculous, but my mom is in hospice and she asked for a slice of pepperoni, jalapeño and anchovy pizza so as a good daughter I am I order. I go to pick up the pizza slice and the guy tells me sorry no anchovies. I said well that's disappointing. Maybe you should've called me. He said oh well I say well my mom was really looking forward to. That is one of her last things that she wanted to eat. He says oh well. I remember my mom buying Tony's Pizza for my middle school sleepover and how excited she was when she didn't have to cook breakfast for 12 girls because we wanted left over pizza for breakfast. We had this delivered last night. We hadn't tried it before but my wife is from NY and wanted something to remind her of home. They use Door Dash for delivery which is too bad. I checked the box 'for hand the pizza to me' vs 'leave on front porch.' I get an email that pizza was delivered to front porch 5 minutes after it was delivered. Sure enough, it was cold. Not even warm. Pizza itself was bland, crust was very chewy. We won't be trying it again. Farleys is much better. As for Door Dash, as long as they want a prepaid tip, I'm not using them either. I ordered two slices of pepperoni and one cheese. First of all, the woman who takes orders was one of the most personable people I have ever met. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how much bigger this place is from what it looks from the outside. This place shares the parking lot with Sunflour/GetFitFoods/BayLeaf and a couple of other businesses. I'm not sure if this was done on purpose, but all the businesses face away from Ballantyne Commons Pkwy so they are not really visible from the street, just know they are there. In any case, you walk into Tony's and you find yourself in a large dining room. There is outdoor seating as well (covered) so I'm sure it's nice to grab a slice and sit outside. The layout of the dining room "funnels" you through the middle and to the counter where the guys are waiting to take your order. All the "regulars" were greeted with a familiar "how are you doing today?" and I even heard the staff asking a customer about a recent trip/vacation... nice to have that sense of community. I took advantage of their lunch special combo of two slices (pepperoni/cheese) and a drink. It comes out to a little over $8 with tax. I threw in a large tip cause behind the counter you see the guys working their asses off, filling orders, and handling the lunch rush. Once your pizza is warmed you get called over the PA system that it's ready and I totally forgot how big NY pizza slices can be. Looks like they have other menu items, hot sandwiches, and pasta... I was in the mood for some New York sized pizza, so decided to hit Tony's again. Again, I ordered 2 HUGE 24-inch slices...one Pepperoni, and one Sausage and Mushroom. Think I prefer the Pepperoni...as the latter tasted a bit bland. The reason I went down a star is this - Flies! There was a fly hovering all around my table. Truly, it was such a pest that I could barely eat. Also, made me lose some appetite (as hard as that may be to believe to those that know me lol!). Maybe they should pull out some bug spray? I feel like pizza is such a personal thing. Not everyone likes the same style so it's hard to know if you will like it or not when someone tells you what their favorite pizza place is. That being said, right now Tony's has been our go to pizza place when we are craving pizza and wanting delivery. It is close to our house and we have enjoyed it every time we have gotten it.
