Food was okay. We got Shrimp Alfredo and seafood linguine (the creamy sauce was good but definitely did not taste like authentic Alfredo sauce) the calamari in linguine tasted fake (rough and chewy). Fried Calamari was alright also. We've had better. Broccoli cheddar soup was watery and not a thick delicious soup. Clam chowder soup tasted more like a canned potato soup (very disappointing). The garlic bread was absolutely not edible (NOT fresh at all, hard as a rock with absolutely no flavor). The cannoli was the only thing that I would rate a 5 star. Came here for dinner with family got seated quickly ordered appetizers, drinks and dinner. Well the appetizers were fine but the main dishes for dinner were a bit disappointing. The Manicotti was burn to the plate.. the Eggplant sub looked like the eggplant was thrown in a deep fryer and forgot about then tried to cover up the bad taste by overloading it with mozzerella cheese, and lastly the chicken in the chicken marsala was quite dry even though it comes in a sauce. Very nice "old school" Italian restaurant. Bread was OK, marinara might be not as zippy as some may like, but everything was fresh and good. Their in-house made salad dressings are a really strong point. My 1000 Island was excellent, and my wife raved about their Italian. My daughter had the Philly and liked it a lot - very flavorful. Her 2 kids "child portions" were pretty substantial, and they offer those also to Seniors. I had the angel hair, which was great and which you can't find at a lot of Italian restaurants anymore. I do not understand how people will line up for mediocre Italian food at chain restaurants like Olive Garden when 3 minutes away is much better food and homemade dressings and sauces. A hidden gem. First time was pretty alright. second time, we were barely checked up on to the point we had to ask another server to get us refills on our drinks while she passed by because our server wasn't checking up on us. The third time, probably last time, that i went, we were sat in the back area and, while it wasn't horrible service, I found a long black hair in my food. it wasn't me or my moms, since neither of us have black hair and it was way too long to be from either of us. it was disgusting. Have eaten at Napoli since they originally opened in Monroe Mall. Eat here often, both dine in and takeout, with no complaints. Great basic pasta dishes, fresh crisp salads with homemade dressings, and good garlic bread. My husband also likes the combination deluxe sub (basically a Philly) and the veal sub. Wish they didn't charge (or charge so much) to get a salad instead of the other side options for the subs, that's my only "complaint". Other than that, prices are reasonable and in line with a small local Italian joint. read more

Great food and service. Occasionally you'll get a new staff person but most of the time the staff is friendly skilled and attentive. The restraunt is decorated in a somewhat cheesy but nice Italian theme. There are nice art prints and I love the vintage and Italian music they play. You can get a nice quiet spot for a date no problem. I personally love the food but if you are an Italian cuisine snob it probably isn't the place for you. However for those not overly concerned with authenticity it is delicious. Complimentary garlic bread and oils with balsamic vinegar are served upon arrival. I've sampled multiple pizzas, ravioli, fettuccine Alfredo, cheese ravioli, and even the kid's chicken tenders. All were very enjoyable. We ordered scallopini veal Parmesan, scallopini, veal, à la piccata. And eggplant Parmesan. Nothing was cooked right whatsoever. Veal was over cooked and leathery sauce was watery. Bruschetta, honestly I don't know what was in it other than two little pieces of tomato, more like salsa Verde. I literally took two bites of my à la piccata and I could not eat anymore. It was so disgusting. Service was excellent. But this food was done incorrectly, poorly and bad quality. The scallopini à la piccata tasted like chicken fat in water with a pound of oregano on top of a piece of leather. 56 years ago this place was good. Ordered the veal.. It smelled like an old boot( It was SPOILED RANK) Asked to speak to the manager to tell them how disgusted I was as I proceeded to walk out. It was my first time here and I definitely won't be back. The atmosphere was a blend of Old Locals who all seemed to order one thing on the menu ( Chicken Parmigiana). If you aren't a regular their you will be treated like an outsider. Don't WASTE your money here, I'd suggest eating at one of the many other restaurants in the area. read more

Menu handed to me by the hostess was full of bread and debris. Not a great start. Lasagna was served in a boiling dish. Not a joke... the sauce was almost nonexistent but what was there was boiling hot. Obviously had to wait a few minutes to taste. I've read the reviews and thus far my experience has been pleasant. The salad dressings are made from scratch. I love when restaurants take the time out to make their dressings and dips.. My blue cheese dressing is a little thin however the flavor is still present. I received my salad in a timely fashion along with my bread and dip. I ordered the Vegetable Lasagna. I am sure the vegetables are not fresh veggies. They are either frozen or prepackaged. The spinach is a little coarse; which also leaves a little bit of an after taste. The overall taste isn't horrible...the quality of ingredients just need to improve. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have 3 stars because of the quality of ingredients.. I had to get up after 30 min.s of no service and go to the kitchen to ask if we could please get more drinks and then she came to our table and slammed my soda glass on the table never said a word to me and turned and walked away. When we got our food it was tasteless and l My husband's steak had very little taste other than a kind of dish watery odd flavor and my steak and cheese was a far cry from "The best cheese steak in town " as the claim on their sign outside. I found an unappetizing looking bit of something in it and did not finish another bite. We will nevvvvvver eat there again ! OVER ALL REALLY DISAPPOINTING ! THE ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THE DINNING EXPERIENCE IS The manager was very kind and did not charge us for this miserable meal. Just an awful experience. read more

This was our second time to this restaurant. My wife and I love Italian food. If you do too, don't go here. We were not impressed with the first visit and would not have gone again but, we went this time with some friends invited us and said the mussels were wonderful. Strike one: Two people in our party ordered a martini with olives. Guess what? They don't have olives. They serves them SLICED OLIVES in a martini glass. I should have taken pictures. Strike two: They started the meal with a round loaf of bread they slice half-way through, spread garlic margarine paste in the cut and throw it in the oven to heat the outside for a couple of minutes. Not enough time to even melt the margarine paste on the inside of the loaf. Gross. Survey of our party at the end of the meal revealed: Salads were OK (how can you screw up salad?) the bleu cheese dressing was bland and watered down. Strike three: Salmon was over cooked and dried out (two down votes). Strike four: The marinara sauce was WAYYYYY to salty. (four down votes) The one person in our party who convinced us to go here, said the mussels appetizers were wonderful. (three orders in our party) He said tonight were terrible and he would not come here again. Strike five: Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was great (one vote). Eggplant Parmigiana (served with no parmigiana cheese) no cheese at all. You can get mozzarella meted on top if you request it. (two down votes). We were disappointed. When I got home and read the reviews and sanitary rating of only 94 points (Yikes!), the bad reviews and the attitude of the management/owner responding to bad reviews blaming the patrons and repeatedly touting the fact that they have been in business for over twenty-five years to justify his poor performance in the kitchen and in the dining room is a sign nothing will change. Save your time and money and go to Olive Garden for better food. It still won't be Italian but it will be better than here. In total honesty, one of our party said he would go back again for the Philly Cheese steak sandwich. read more

Casual, old style Italian food in Monroe - and no waiting in line to be seated Friday Night Food: We have been to Napoli's several times now. At times, we have ordered pizza and have never been disappointed. Freshly made to order and tasty. Other times we have ordered a shrimp and pasta dish and other pasta dishes, and they have all been good with nice, sizable portions. We would stick with the pizza first, pasta dishes second, anything else is a crap shoot. Huge plus- you get free, hot Italian bread that is already buttered on the inside along with an oil dipping sauce. Most pasta dishes also come with a garden salad. We must make a short comment about the cheese steak sandwich. We're big fans of cheese steaks and when we a sign posted outside saying they have "the best cheese steak in town" we had to try. Good- yes, the best - nope. Having mayo as a standard is a plus as is offering either provolone or mozzarella cheese. But it just did not have the wow factor. Service: Excellent. Very friendly service and attentive service. Waitstaff well trained and takes care of you like you should be. It has been like that each time we have gone here. Price: Fair prices for the pizza and pasta dishes we ordered. They also have daily specials. Other: Soft Italian music playing in the background makes for a nice, relaxing ambiance. We have frequented Napoli's exclusively on weekend nights and there has never been a wait. Being on Independence, many of chain restaurants have waits often long waits during the prime time weekend hours. Think Olive Garden. We would rather go to Napoli's any day. Tip: Sometimes Napolis has a Groupon. If you see it, try to grab it because it's a great deal. It's too bad they don't have more coupons out there. I got the stuffed shells and they were delicious. The homemade ranch and Italian dressing were good. The bruschetta and garlic bread are great! Service is excellent. Man, I hate to give out bad reviews, but I stopped by Napoli this evening for a large cheese pizza because my regular Italian Restaurant was closed. The pizza was made with a frozen crust. You can easily tell this is not fresh tossed pizza dough. I brought home and my kids, whose favorite food is pizza, wouldn't eat it... 'nuff said. I lived in Monroe for years before ever trying Napoli. I don't know what took me so long, but I was pleasantly surprised when I finally did. The ambience is nice, the decor has a rustic charm that I liked immediately; it's quiet, the lighting is perfect, and the feeling is intimate. The wait staff are always excellent, and the owner is very friendly and accommodating. They have a lot of pasta dishes and some pizzas but I'm not a big pasta/pizza eater, BUT I LOVE their Caesar salad; I've had Caesar salads in big fancy, pricey restaurants that weren't nearly as good as Napoli's Caesar. So for me the main things are the atmosphere, the friendly and efficient staff, and the Caesar salad, and FYI - they do also have vegetarian dises. read more

It's been about 8 years since I've eaten here and after reading others' recent reviews, I admit that I was a bit skeptical. So here goes my review of lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted and seated right away. Complimentary bread, oil & balsamic vineger dipping sauce, and drinks came to the table shortly afterwards. Their bread was delish, might I add! I ordered antipasto salad, and clam chowder; my daughter had spaghetti with meat sauce. The clam chowder had plenty of potatoes and was good, and my salad was very good. I will admit that I've never had an antipasto salad presented like this one was, with large slices of cheese placed on top of the salad rather than in rolls or smaller pieces rolled up with the meats - it looked a little odd to me, however, the taste of it was excellent none the less. Even though antipasto typically comes with Italian dressing, I wanted to try their blue cheese after having read a previous review. I wasn't disappointed at all in our food. Some reviewers weren't fans of the meat sauce, it is a basic sauce, but having tasted my daughter's spaghetti, I thought it was very good. I would def order the spaghetti & meat sauce, something I usually don't order in a restaurant simply because you never know how their sauce will taste. And as a side note: the drinks are huge! I liked the atmosphere and the style of music playing - sort of like Dean Martin & Frank Sinatra. The only drawback: their bathroom is in dire need of remodeling. This is Italian for Old People. I had the baked ziti and it was basically pasta flopped on a plate with a flavorless marinara and cheese that was set under the heat lamp to melt the cheese. I've had bad pasta in my life but this is the absolute worst. My partner fared a bit better with the steak sandwich (he eats meat) and he said it was not bad. I ordered a glass of wine and the bottle must have been open a while because it was not good. Beer is cheap however and tastes fine. The only upside was the server who was attentive without being annoying. I was told when I fist moved here that it was bad. I should have listened. read more
