Beware! Most pictures are professional taken probably from previous owner food didn't look like pictures. It was higher food prices for mediocre meal. No daily/weekly discount menu or senior discounts here. Service was good. Ambiance was clean. Had turkey club was good but small amounts of meat on sandwich new owners so not the same

We passed this on our way to run an evening errand and after looking at the menu, we gave it a try. We went in and it's an old bar/restaurant from the 70s or 80s that has its classic charm, but great food. You can smell the meats being smoked as soon as you walk in this dimly lit restaurant. We ordered a skirt steak dinner and it came with a salad. We both upped for the Greek side salad, and that was a large and hearty portion for a beginning salad. The dressing was delicious and was perfect for the pile of fresh veggies and feta cheese. I ordered my steak and was able to choose the starch, so I chose rice. It was about 8 oz and felt much bigger. It was tender and juicy as well. I asked for it Greek Style and only wished it had a tad more lemon, but all places are different. I have no complaints about it. My husband ordered the Veal Liver and it was also a large portion. It came with bacon and onions, mashed, and veggies. He loved his liver and loved the way it was prepared. We found out they smoke and grill all their meats, and we could tell because you could smell it throughout the restaurant. The service was very good. You're able to tell the staff has been there for many years. Our service was also very good. The server made his recommendations and was very friendly. This is a great old school, Greek owned restaurant with hearty portions and delicious food. I'll be glad to come back.

Mario did a great job! His suggestions made the meal even better. I highly suggest the French onion soup & the mashed potatoes ! Fantastic! The bread was slightly warm. The ambiance is dark.... There's a bar, they played Frank Sinatra & had the greats on the wall... very mafia esq. lol Also, you save money if you pay in cash....the price goes up if you use your card....I wasn't fond of that.

I hadn't been since their renovation and made it there last Thursday. It was really cute ambiance - I loved the interior designer's work. The place has options of seating - inside and outside, ranging from metal chairs to comfortable upholstered benches. We got the tom kha to begin with, which my husband, who's not vegetarian, devoured. It was truly delicious! We then got the Kung Pao with mushrooms and it was incredible - the flavors, the choice of vegetables, the sauce - all of it! We also got a chow mein but with rice noodles - this was the one dish that could take some improvement. Granted, the original recipe calls for wheat noodles, and that might be really good, though our rice noodles version of it was came out soggy. Our server had clearly had a long day - she was tired and forgetful (didn't bring us rice and we had a hard time flagging her down to request it). She also just brought us the check after dinner, without asking if we wanted any dessert. All in all, highly recommend this place for delicious plant-based food.

I'd say the trip was disappointing for our party of 5 and what we got didn't match the quality of other gopchang restaurants in LA. For me who did not eat intestines I'd say it's a 3 of 5 place, but I'd say the value for the intestines based on what my party ate was more of a 2 of 5 as it was mostly grease that overwhelmed everything with no meaningful way to reduce it. For the 5 of us, we ordered the double portion of large intestines, beef tartar, and the bulgogi hotpot. The presentation of food initially was great. I've been to gopchang restaurants in Koreatown in Los Angeles and in Korea. I have not been to one that cooks gopchang in a grill with no outlet for oil drainage. For something greatly oily, it felt uncomfortable seeing it cook in an abundance of its own oil. The restaurant's lackluster solution to all of this oil was to dunk in large pieces of bread to soak it up. This not only looked very unappetizing but was not a successful solution. Additionally, letting the gopchang cook in its own oil, left the gopchang to be "fried" crisp and hard. The bulgogi hotpot had a good amount of meat and vegetables, but was way too sweet. They gave a small bowl of chive salad to a group of 5 of us to share, which we were each able to get very small portions of. They charge extra if you want more chive salad. Overall, a very disappointing experience, could not recommend.

However, to my delight when I arrived at 1:40 I was immediately welcomed by a very nice guy at the counter named Rafael. He was able to answer all my questions about the items on the menu as well as a number of microbrews that were available. I had a $23+ reward from the InKind app that would expire by Jan 31st, so I decided to go with a couple of entrees: shrimp & grits and the brisket platter with mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, red beans and rice gumbo, apple coleslaw, plus an excellent microbrew - real authentic southern home cookin'! The portions were abundant, so much so that I took about half the food home. I enjoyed my meal with a delicious microbrew with mandarin peel + coriander. The basic cost of my meal minus the discount from my InKind reward brought the price down to around $43, plus tip - what a deal! The restaurant was very clean with sunlight streaming through the windows (it was 11 degrees outside), light jazz playing in the background (not loud), and a clean comfortable washroom. If it's not obvious from this review and ALL my restaurant reviews the kitchen is not where I shine. I called Hofherr to ask if they could cook my turkey and while apparently they do that it was too late to put in the request. Good to know for next time. Wednesday morning I joined the rest of the North Shore to pick up my raw turkey. I ran into a friend while waiting for it who is more of an expert when it comes to making turkeys and she asked them to give me gravy, a turkey bag (apparently easier and lessy messy to cook in a bag) and some directions. The next day I followed their directions along with some help from my bestie chatgpt. I stuck it in the oven and crossed my fingers we wouldn't be going without a turkey this thanksgsiving. We had a little mishap when the thermometer melted into the turkey (oops), but besides that it really wasn't too difficult of a process. And while I had trouble eating a turkey after seeing it raw my family was thrilled that it was perfectly moist and praised my turkey making skills. I did have a few bites and did think it was pretty good- and i dont even like turkey. I would definitely get my turkey from here again, although next time i'll be ordering a cooked turkey out of convenience. But for those of you who like to cook a turkey I recommend them!
