The spacious dining area!
Keith H.

Johnny's Pizza House in Baton Rouge in our only outpost of this major Louisiana pizza chain, which is more widespread in northern Louisiana. As a graduate of ULM, I have eaten more than my fair share of Johnny's Pizza! What makes Johnny's Pizza special is its simplicity. It has fresh ingredients, prepared well, and sold for a very fair price. They have pizzas that range from the 8" Personal, to the 16" Large. The classic is thin crust, which is cut into rectangular slices rather than wedges. It's awesome! The best option in my opinion is the famous Sweep the Kitchen (without anchovies for me). It's a supreme with all the excellent ingredients. There are many other specialty pizzas on the menu, or you can build your own. Walk up to the counter and order, then the nice servers will bring it to your table. If you are there for lunch, you can enjoy the buffet instead. There are also calzone like "Flips" to try, as well as desserts.

The whole slice is less than a quarter inch thick, and it was pretty charred up. Disappointing.

My wife is from North Louisiana, so she was pumped when Johnny's came south. Unfortunately we have been consistently disappointed with this location. I don't like to leave reviews unless they are positive, but I can only give so many chances. The pizzas last night were overcooked and had basically no cheese/toppings on them. Tasted like cardboard. Had to throw them away. It was a bummer. It looks like we will have to get our Johnny's fix when we head to Shreveport and Monroe from now on...

I can't get enough Johnny's Pizza. I grew up with it and live in Dallas now. If I pass one - I'm stopping! The pizza was incredible as always. I was the only person there the whole time. The place is in bad need of updating and a deep clean; but it is what it is. The entire country is wearing a mask except one of the several young kids working there tonight. He didn't have one on ten whole time. Irresponsible. I'll assume there was no manager on duty. I wouldn't make a beeline to come back to this location... but that pizza sure was good.

Super meat-no ham (it's too sweet, to me)

I used to live in Monroe, La, johnnys is the best stop for pizza there. So when I found one at home I was elated. This pizza is just as good as the one I'd get up North. I've been to this location maybe 4 times. I have never had a single complaint. They now give take and bake pizza, my only complaint with that, is they only offer(ed) it in a large. I can't eat cold pizza, so take and bake is a great option for me.

Breadsticks and cheese sticks.

My friends, who are originally from Monroe, took me here to "rep the 318" after a long day of hiking. We ordered two 14 inch pizzas, cheese sticks, breadsticks, and the cookie. Our total was around $60 after we got the 20% off for checking in on Yelp. I didn't really care for the breadsticks, but the cheese sticks were so good. Basically like a cheese pizza once you dip it into the marinara sauce. I couldn't stop eating them. We got a veggie pizza with no olives and pepperoni on half and extra cheese. - The perfect pizza. The crust has a little bit of sweetness to it and they give you the perfect amount of veggies. I think without the extra cheese, there wouldn't have been enough. So make sure to get extra cheese if you like your pizza gooey. And a pepperoni and jalepeno pizza. I only had a small slice of this because I don't really care for such meaty pizza. They gave a lot of pepperoni! Which is good. Everyone else in my party enjoyed it. Cookie - okay. You need to get this. We ordered this right before we left and it was so hot and oozing chocolate. One of the best cookies I've ever eaten. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it was really good. I'd come back.

The filthy inside of the red pepper shaker

I have been here but it's been a while and OMG I can honestly say I'll never ever go back. For or a Pizza joint that used to be ok this place has fallen off a cliff!!!! When we walked in today there was filth actually clumped and stuck to the floor. If I had not been a guest of someone else I would of just left, yeah it was that bad! The salad bar area was filthy and ice cubes were actually sitting on dirt and melting dirty water into the messy nasty salad bar, GROSS AND NO I DID NOT EAT SALAD!! The pizza was not tasty but the actual pizza table was relatively clean or at least appeared to be. I tried to eat the pizza but it all tasted dirty and then after tasting a few different kinds of pizza that I had shaken some crushed red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese on I was like DAMN IT's STILL NASTY so I opened the shakers so I could drown out the flavor of the yucky pizza with hot crushed pepper flakes and parmesan cheese I SAW THE FILTH ON THE INSIDE OF THE LIDS! What the FRICKING FRACKING DISGUSTING NASTY CRAP!!!!!! I ALMOST PUCKED !!!! Don't go here !!!!

BBQ wings

The only reason I eat at Johnny's is bc my partner grew up around one. But every time I order from this one my wings are never right. Why say you have buffalo if you only give out BBQ and not to get picky but they don't even toss the wings they just pour a huge amount of this SWEET bbq on them. This last time I got a sprite and there was mold from the ice and from the drink spout. I don't know what they are going thru but this was my last time going to Johnny's.

I had to "Sweep The Kitchen" for our anniversary. Luckily it was a pizza rather than a chore! Thanks Johnny's Pizza

We really do love this place, which is why this review is disappointing to write. Unfortunately,…read moreour most recent visit was not up to the standard we've come to expect. The first issue was with the quesadillas. Both of them arrived smashed together, stuck to the paper wrapper, and neither had been cut into slices. Instead of being easy to share and eat, they were difficult to separate from the paper and ended up as one large, messy blob. I ordered the shredded chicken quesadilla and was very disappointed with the flavor. The chicken had a burnt, leftover-grill taste that made it hard to enjoy, and after one bite I couldn't finish it. It also seemed to have very little cheese, which made it feel dry and lacking the cheesy goodness you'd expect from a quesadilla. My boyfriend ordered the pork quesadilla. While it was better than the chicken, it still had an unusual off-flavor, and it had the same issues with not being sliced and sticking to the wrapper. On a positive note, the chips, salsa, and queso were excellent and ended up being the highlight of our meal. I do think the queso is a little pricey for those of us trying to stick to a budget but love to dip our quesadillas in it, but it was still very tasty. Despite this disappointing takeout experience, the employees are always kind, friendly, and welcoming. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. We're hoping this was just an off day because we've had good experiences in the past, and we look forward to giving them another chance and hopefully updating this review with a better experience.

I'm typically a creature of habit and hate experimenting when I'm hungry, but I've definitely ventured out of my comfort zone with trying different items, and have not been disappointed thus far. The waitstaff are pleasant, friendly, and accommodating. As other reviewers have said, the atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The place tends to get crowded at peak times, so reservations have proven to be a good idea. I've also noticed that take-out is a popular option as well.

There's no organization to what anyone is doing. The dining room tables aren't bussed and about five walk-ins and me are waiting for online orders. There's nobody directing the kitchen and no front-end person catering to the three tables there. Now I've worked in restaurants for half my working life and some in grad school. These deficiencies are exacerbated by not having a firm managerial hand. It's what happens when everyone is in their 20s with little to no experience in the world reacting to a rush rather than being proactive. There's no reason why I should wait 20 mins for two pizzas when I get there after ordering it 15 mins prior to leaving my house just down the street and 5 or 6 staff working. There were enough people to handle the rush if they had more leadership and direction. That's the sad part.
