When I was in college and living in north Louisiana, Johnny's was my go-to for pizza. We got some coupons in the mail, so we decided to go for dinner. The first thing we noticed is that we were the only people dining in. To be honest, we thought they might be closed. It seems for dinner, most people order and pick up to go. We ordered breadsticks and a medium pepperoni power pizza. The breadsticks were very doughy, dense, and had no flavor. They also could have used maybe a minute or two more in the oven. The pizza was really good and had a good ratio of sauce to cheese to toppings. Our only complaint was that we were not given plates, and 3 of us were sharing. read more

It's very hard to recommend a Johnny's Pizza location that doesn't have a lunch buffet any more. Going there for lunch use to be such a treat - I'd schedule work appointments around the area just so I'd "just so happen to be in the area" for a quick Johnny's pizza lunch. Now that's gone. It takes too long to order a personal pizza for lunch. Their pizza is good enough to order for dinner but we live too far away to make the round trip and still enjoy it. Johnny's Pizza House in Baton Rouge in our only outpost of this major Louisiana pizza chain, which is more widespread in northern Louisiana. As a graduate of ULM, I have eaten more than my fair share of Johnny's Pizza! What makes Johnny's Pizza special is its simplicity. It has fresh ingredients, prepared well, and sold for a very fair price. They have pizzas that range from the 8" Personal, to the 16" Large. The classic is thin crust, which is cut into rectangular slices rather than wedges. It's awesome! The best option in my opinion is the famous Sweep the Kitchen (without anchovies for me). It's a supreme with all the excellent ingredients. There are many other specialty pizzas on the menu, or you can build your own. Walk up to the counter and order, then the nice servers will bring it to your table. If you are there for lunch, you can enjoy the buffet instead. Id give it a zero, but I can't, so I give you, a one. I ordered my pizza at 5:15, got there at 6:05, and was told 7 times that my pizza was in the oven and 3 times that it was being boxed up. At 7:15, when I decided that waiting for a total of 2 hours (One hour in person) was enough, I tried one final time to get my pizzas. Oh, and they charge you before they give it to you, if they even give it to you. The employees proceeded to get into a fight because they kept asking the cook to make my order, and he wouldn't (The cashiers were upset that he wouldn't make our order, and the cook had an attitude). All the while, dozens of people came in, ordered, received their order, and left while I stood there. I was invisible to the employees. After the altercation, I was given 2/3 of my order and cut my losses. This is the second bad experience I have had with Johnny's after years of ordering with them. Never again. My friends, who are originally from Monroe, took me here to "rep the 318" after a long day of hiking. We ordered two 14 inch pizzas, cheese sticks, breadsticks, and the cookie. Our total was around $60 after we got the 20% off for checking in on Yelp. I didn't really care for the breadsticks, but the cheese sticks were so good. Basically like a cheese pizza once you dip it into the marinara sauce. I couldn't stop eating them. We got a veggie pizza with no olives and pepperoni on half and extra cheese. - The perfect pizza. The crust has a little bit of sweetness to it and they give you the perfect amount of veggies. I think without the extra cheese, there wouldn't have been enough. So make sure to get extra cheese if you like your pizza gooey. And a pepperoni and jalepeno pizza. I only had a small slice of this because I don't really care for such meaty pizza. They gave a lot of pepperoni! Which is good. Everyone else in my party enjoyed it. Cookie - okay. You need to get this. We ordered this right before we left and it was so hot and oozing chocolate. I have been here but it's been a while and OMG I can honestly say I'll never ever go back. For or a Pizza joint that used to be ok this place has fallen off a cliff!!!! When we walked in today there was filth actually clumped and stuck to the floor. If I had not been a guest of someone else I would of just left, yeah it was that bad! The only reason I eat at Johnny's is bc my partner grew up around one. But every time I order from this one my wings are never right. Why say you have buffalo if you only give out BBQ and not to get picky but they don't even toss the wings they just pour a huge amount of this SWEET bbq on them. I'm from West Monroe. I love Johnny's more than I love my wife. This location is an insult to my lifeblood (ie Johnny's). Every time in order a Sweep, I order it crispy because they undercook their pizza, and even then I still have to load every slice in my toaster oven to give a crisp to the yeast infection they call a crust. I've contacted them multiple times about this, and still there's more texture in a Chef Boyardee can. To add insult to injury, the staff is always high, so if you put in a takeout order, there's a good chance that when you go pick it up, a cashier who looks like Weird Al will be like "Uhh what? Oh, it's gonna be like 30 more minutes or something." I've worked at a Johnny's. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner at a Johnny's. This location is awful. Its a blight on an otherwise great pizza chain and on the city of Bâton Rouge. "They'll get better," I keep telling myself, because I'm clearly an enabler, and the Johnny's Highland location is an abuser. Johnny's Pizza House reminded me a lot of a neighborhood pizza place back in my hometown (in California). It was night of my 15th wedding anniversary and was already a busy day with running around. On the way home from the last activity of the day, I was craving pizza. So, my daughter and I decided to try a pizza place that we have never tried before and was also very close to home. I called to place the order for the "Sweep The Kitchen Floor" pizza. As soon as we arrived, the pizza was just getting out of the cooker, so perfect timing! There was a Yelp Check-in Offer for 20% off a 12" or 14" pizza. The staff member was unaware of this check-in offer, but still honored it, so that was nice. The shop was spacious and there was even a gaming room with dining tables, perfect for those that want to bring kiddos and keep them entertained in an area they can still see them. It's all very pizza parlor style. I love that the pizza was cut in squares and the aroma of the olives, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers definitely stuck to the inside of my car for 24 hours. I am happy to report that the pizza was delicious, but the crust got soggy pretty quick and I think it's because of all the watery vegetables. I wish they cooked it a tab bit longer. Oh well. My buddies from north Louisiana are right. Good slice. I'm a simple pizza guy, but we had the "sweep the kitchen". What usually happens with an "all the way" pizza is the spot in the center of the pizza just becomes an unmanageable mush. Thin crust, nice sauce, cooked just right. The center was done just right. We also had the wings. I won't recommend them. Just baked with sauce poured over them. It is a pizza not a wing joint after all. It came out to almost $18 but was fresh, hot and super greasy which is awesome although bad for one's waistline. During these strange Covid times we were looking for a different pizza source, that stood out from the rest. Johnny's was rumored through a local friend as a place to try. It was difficult to order as their website, (probable computer server) was very stubborn to connect and order. My wife managed to make the order through her phone. I picked it up at their drive in window and raced home. The pizza brought memories of another great restaurant pizza, Savoy Pizza in St. Paul, MN. That was pizza so rich with cheese and flavor to yearn for a several times per year. This pizza was that quality. I owe my brother-in-law for the introduction to this one. We ordered because it was close and the kids wanted pizza. It turned out to be really good! Better than chain, almost as good as some of my NY style favorites. We accidentally ordered this bacon, beef, chicken, jalapeño bbq thing that looked great on the menu, horrified us when we saw it (BBQ sauce was white), but ended up being super-awesome. Now we are once-a-weekers, ordering pepperoni on a Friday. First time here and very impressed! When I first walked in, we were immediately greeted and taken care of. I was a little worried at first because there weren't many pizzas out, but after my first trip to the buffet they were cranking out fresh pizzas every few minutes! The guy was announcing everything new he put on the buffet which I really liked because I didn't have to get up and check for my favorite pizza (buffalo chicken). I love the fact that there is a pizza place around here that serves cheese sauce with breadsticks. Being a midwesterner, you will rarely find me eating a breadstick that hasn't been dunked in nacho cheese, so unfortunately for me, that means I dont eat many breadsticks anymore since most places here dont serve cheese sauce. Johnny's pizza house does and it's amazing. While I'm stoked to have access to the cheese, the breadsticks fell short for me. Lacking greatly in flavor and texture. The pizza is good, but again, the dough just leaves you missing something you cant quite put your finger on. I grew up eating Johnny's Pizza. In West Monroe and Monroe LA it is the best! Going home to visit always meant a night of Johnny's Pizza. I am so happy to have a Johnny's in Baton Rouge again. The pizza is always hot and fresh made to order. The staff is friendly. We have tried all the specialty pizzas and a favorite is the Hog Heaven and another is the Pepperoni Power.
