Visited Johnny's today for lunch. Walked in to a really cool atmosphere. TV's everywhere. Was seated quickly and gave our order to the waitress that was very personable!! Ordered the tenderloin sandwich which was huge. Couldn't even finish it all. The restaurant was vey clean. Bathrooms were surprisingly very clean also. Great place to eat for lunch or supper. We were going to try out this location for the first time. It was spacious and clean. We were seated immediately and the male server got us waters, we told him we were ready to order. He said I need to go to get my pad real quick. So we said okay and then he came back with a female server and she said, "there is about to be a shift change and that server will take your order". They could have easily taken it and told the new server. We waited and waited and various servers just walked by us. So I went up front and spoke to one and she was rude and said, she would look into it. Nothing happened and no server came and she just stood at the desk up front. A bunch of servers were pretty much just standing around in the back talking. So we went up front and I told her we were leaving and she was put out about that (we had not orders anything). I asked who the manager was and she was ticked about that. No apologies just rudeness. No ratings on the food because there was no order! read more

I just went to Johnny's Tavern for the first time today for the Chiefs game. Johnny's is a good option for Chiefs games or sports watching in general. There's viewable TVs from every seat in the place. I ordered boneless wings and fries. The boneless wings (chicken nuggets) were good size. I noticed the portions are huge here for the most part from looking at everyone's plate. Johnny's is a standard sports bar vibe. The space is quite large. They have daily specials and a few draft beer options. The service was pretty good for the most part. I think they were maybe slightly understaffed for a Sunday game day but overall good. I'd recommend Johnny's if you are looking for a sports bar to watch a game. read more

Had such a great time, I forgot to take pictures of anything! Came as a party of 9 and we were able to be seated within 15 minutes. Server and other staff were so friendly and knew all the right recommendations. Fun facts, the bombs are based off of current/past employees. The table favorite was Anna's bomb! I had the apple walnut cranberry salad which was a nice sized serving and plenty of toppings. Also had a side of fries which were okay but I would've liked them a little more salty. You can go wrong with Johnny's for sports. Several large tvs throughout the bar to watch the games and they have daily specials. They have all of your favorite bar food their wings and pizzas are great and their smash burger as well. If there is a Johnnys near you while you are in KC give them a visit. read more

My husband and I really enjoy eating at Johnny's . They have great wings. I honestly struggle sometimes to look at other options of what to eat on the menu. I have seen several times the Jambalaya and was curious to try it. Everything on the menu looks appetizing and I think you can't really go wrong with any of their menu items. I decided today was the day I would try the Jambalaya. I even added the shrimp for the up charge. We usually always go to the Ridgeview location. It's a great location and the service is always great. We decided to come to the Antioch and 95th location. It was super busy but we got seated relatively quickly. We did wait a good amount of time for our food. When my Jambalaya came out the food looked disheveled were. The plate presentation was messy. There was a spoon served with it and a piece of toast that looked like it quickly got soggy from sopping in the sauce. I personally like crunchy toast. Dare I say I like toast to be toasty. The shrimp was large and was really good in flavor. The andouille sausage was good. Definitely recommend adding the shrimp. Another strong recommendation is change the plate that the food is served on . Perhaps a deeper bowl type. Also it wouldn't hurt to wipe the excess food on the side of the plate before it gets served. I mentioned it to our server and she agreed the food lacked presentation. Johnnys is typically our go to restaurant for chicken wings however today was disappointing. Received overcooked chicken wings dried out, chewy and tough. We ordered double dipped bone in wings dry to touch and they came out smothered in a lot of buffalo sauce. Not what we ordered and server agreed and stated cook got it wrong. We were hopeful as we love our "typical double dip dry season wings" but we were wrong. Server took back the smothered wings to the kitchen and they came back with same wings that were dropped in fryer overcooked and dry. Lesson learned cooks don't like food sent back even if they got it wrong . We will try a different Johnnys location for wings and hopefully we get our favorite wings. This location wasn't busy at the time plenty of empty table. Server was great seemed stressed already when he came to table when we arrived. Then he just had to serve the overcooked wings. I want to give a shoutout to the staff here after I had an incident with my car outside their business. They were the only place open so I went in to get help. There was a very helpful young man there who came out to assist us for a bit and they were all very nice. They made an ice pack for my husband as he was hurt. You are in the right place if you are into sports bars, pub grub, and American fare. However, Johnny's has a menu different from what you might expect. I was surprised at the variety of food options available. You can eat here several other times and try something new each time. I have rarely had a bad meal here. Sometimes the pizza can be drier than I would like, and burgers may be great one day and off the next. Do not come here if you don't like TVs! There are TVs all over the walls and even one at almost every booth. We sometimes come here on KC Chiefs game days, and it is a riot. They play games and do trivia, and the building feels like the windows will shatter when the team scores. They have a good variety of beer to keep you going, and you might get loud along with everyone else. The staff are generally good. We have had some staff who are less attentive than others, but that happens anywhere. If we go here on a Sunday, one of the wait staff (I can't remember her name, and I feel terrible about that) recognizes my family. She knows what most of my kids like to drink and will usually not even need to ask us. Things like this make it a great spot for my crew to visit. read more

We had 11 people in our party and reserved one of the rooms ahead of time. Plenty of room for all of us and we were able to move the tables to form one long table in that room. Our server's name was Libby, if I remember correctly, and her service was outstanding. My burger was delicious and everyone else thought the same of their food. We went in for late night dining in. Most places stop serving right around 9pm. Menu has a pretty good selection. Lots of TV screen around if you're there to watch sport. They also have a room with games and music Jukebox. Fire pit outside for that cool evening outdoor seating. I ordered the firecracker shrimp tacos. It was great. Just the kind of tacos I like. This is a great spot for good food. I have been here for lunch a few times. You can be in an out under an hour. I ordered the shrimp platter this time and loved it. I enjoy both their fried and grilled shrimp. The hush puppies were ok, though maybe just a tad dry. The fries are good, standard fries. Great menu with lots of choices, wonderful food, terrific server (Kristie), lots of TVs turned to sports, and decent prices...what's not to like? They even have an electronic sign outside to let you know if there's a wait! I had the Caprese Salad, an unexpected item for a sports bar, and SO unexpectedly delicious, with pesto, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella balls, mixed Spring greens, grape tomatoes (that were actually flavorful...a rarity), and all dressed with a yummy balsamic vinaigrette. I added the crispy chicken, but there are other choices. This Caprese Salad rivaled any I've had, and it was big enough to take some home for another meal. My friend said the Walnut Salad is also fresh and wonderful, but after hearing our server describe the French Dip Sandwich stacked with real sliced roast beef, she opted for that. They have several potato sides, from homemade chips, to waffle-cut sweet potato fries that were perfectly crisped and OMG good! Kristie also claimed the burgers (several varieties) are excellent, and since she was right about everything else, I trust that and I will be back for one! The reason for 4 stars is that I'm usually not a fan of sports bars (too noisy and the TVs are too distracting), but the noise level was OK, and they have obviously focused their attention on serving great, fresh food. What happened to this place?? This used to be a great goto place cause the food and service was always so great! I went there for a happy hour and had it been my first time, I'd never go back. I sat at the bar and the service was so slow. They all were more focused on dancing with each other, eating or talking with them backs to the bar area. Food was good and drinks were great, but holy cow the service was just awful. I can't believe how little attention the bartenders paid to those sitting at the bar. This review is very sad... I stopped into this place with a few friends to grab a drink and catch up. The outside area was fantastic. Comfortable place to just relax. Our waitress was a gem that would play a bit and great at service as well. This is where it takes a turn for the worse... One end of the patio was filled with a group that had drank a bit and kept yelling at our waitress every time she walked out the door. Due, I am sure, to inebriation they couldn't tell that she was continually making rounds of everyone out on the patio. The last straw was a group of younger (barely drinking age) that showed up and was just plain rude to everyone there. Now understand I was a sailor for a number of years and can cuss with the best of them. But, cussing has a purpose and never to be used at the person trying to serve you. Also that little game of "this isn't what I ordered" gets old real quick. This probably would have continued if I and a friend hadn't decided to take a seat at their table and make a toast to manners and how we could happily instruct them on what was necessary to be in public. They calmed down after that for a while. But it was too late. I now have to give a review based only off of food and those patrons who forget that there are other people at the public establishments. Johnny's Tavern came highly recommended by our family, so we ventured there with a large group that turned into an even larger group! From 12 that we planned on to 17 they were incredibly accommodating. Then our group increased again, expanding to two other tables, bringing our total to 30. Kudos to the staff for being so kind and helpful! As far as the food, many recommendations from wings to pizza to burgers...it's all good. I tried the bacon cheeseburger with season fries. It was very good and the fries were delicious. They have an extensive beer list, which I loved their Dunkel tap beer. Looking forward to going back! read more

Firstly, I tried to call multiple times tonight to get my servers name and there phone not only went to voicemail like it was someone's phone but they didn't even answer. If I could give negative stars for the service my family & I experienced tonight, I would. Our server not only was very unprofessional but also just overall not a personable person to be serving customers. I can't even give the servers name since that is how terrible she was. Every time she would come back to our table she would tell us something person or unrelated to serving us. The food was 3/10 and immediately had to send the Espinaca dip back because it was cold and yet still was on my ticket. Had a wonderful experience here with some close friends. Nothing beats with drinks, food, and good company. Food was delish and drink were cheap too. But what stands out is the service, we had an excellent server who handle a party of 8 but also a party next to us. Definitely a cool spot to chill and eat after a long day at work. read more

I was craving a burger this afternoon but also had a friend coming over to do a charity related scavenger hunt with me. I ordered the burger for lunch and nachos in case we got hungry later. The burger was phenomenal! (I got the one with Gouda on it). It did not come with condiments which made me a little sad since I was out of ketchup at home but that's more a me problem since I ordered it delivered to my home. The nachos were spectacular! The toppings and chips were all packaged separately which kept everything fresh/from getting soggy. My friend had never had Johnny's before and was so impressed by the flavor and overall presentation of the nachos - yay! I'll definitely be ordering again! read more

We had a good experience last night. We tried a few different items and enjoyed them all. The service would be the only thing that would bring the rating down at all. We didn't initially get silverware or napkins or side plates for our appetizers. I'm pretty sure a manager who was walking by saw it and corrected the situation. Went in here on Sunday afternoon to watch NFL games. They proudly say they have 55 TVs, yet for some reason they think they need to have the Chiefs game on 51 of the 55 TVs. Multiple people politely asked if they could just mix in a couple of the other games on some of the TVs around the bar area. The TVs are literally 1-2 feet apart, so no one could possibly have any issue seeing the Chiefs game if they put it on ever other screen, and yet they refused to do so. And they were very dismissive and rude about it when people asked. It's beyond me how you can run a "sports bar" like this. I'd recommend you find another place if you want to watch sports. read more

My husband and I were on our way to a concert and we're trying to find someplace to eat along the way and decided to give Johnny's a try. We went on a Thursday night, so it wasn't crowded at all and we were seated right away. Our server was quick at getting us what we needed. It was happy hour, so we got our drinks for pretty cheap. We each ordered a burger, and they were pretty tasty. They were also very large, so we weren't able to eat the whole thing. My husband and I both agreed that the fries didn't taste good. They were super mushy and just had an odd taste that I can't even explain. When we got the bill, we found out our burgers were also on happy hour price. The food was reasonably priced and good. The staff seemed really stretched thin, our waitress was only able to check in a few times and I had to go to the bar for my second drink. But the worst was the hostess who raised her voice quite high to me when I first entered the building to look for my friend. I had yet to get my mask on and apparently it was her life's work to make sure everyone had on their mask. Had it been my choice, after that response, I'd have left. Slow service I went in to place a small carry out order. The hostess directed me to the bartenders to place my order. So I walked straight to the bar and my visit began to take a negative turn. There were two bar tenders which to me seems like good staffing, but I still stood there ignored for 8 minutes while they spoke to other customers at the other end of the bar. At this point I pulled out my phone and called the restaurant. Within 30 seconds I had an order placed. It was another 3 minutes before one of the bartenders pulled themselves away from their conversations and made their way to see what I wanted to order. Understand that like many others I too worked in the service industry and understand that chatting with customers is a good thing, but not at the expense of helping other customers. In general I do get good service at this location so of course I'm coming back. However, this visit feel short of basic expectations. read more
