I get scared calling around to auto shops because I know nothing about cars and they can tell so they automatically hike up the price. Johns was the 3rd auto shop I called early in the morning and was immediately greeted with a friendly "Johns auto shop this is Sean how can I help?" After a bunch of rude shops. I had no idea what was wrong with my car so I just explained to him what I was experiencing while I was driving. He told me to bring it in, anytime in the afternoon and they can start off with a diagnostic to pinpoint the problem. He let me know they were extremely busy, but he would get to it as soon as he could but it would have to stay overnight. He called me next day in the morning and let me know that it turned out to be something small and a simple quick fix would help! I left paying $170 bucks! I am so thankful for Sean and the whole team over at Johns auto shop! They immediately made me feel like family and that's something everyone should learn from! Needed to get my Daughter's 2021 Mazda CX-5 an Oil Change within a week before a road trip down to San Diego (which she failed to tell me was already overdue), and our usual mechanic was booked out to over 3 weeks! She found John's on a Google search with a special for their Full-Synthetic Oil Changes. Reviews were good on here and Google. Called and spoke to Jordan who said that they could do it the next day if we could drop it off in the morning and leave it with them for the day and they would for it in before the end of the day. Dropped it off around 0900, and by 1500 Jordan called saying they were all done! So, they said they could to do the oil change within our timeline, were friendly, did the service as promised, and at a great price!! What more could you ask for? Brought my car in on Nov 30 because of a number of issues. The check engine light had come on and I was getting error codes for the fuel pump control module. The battery had gone dead and required a jump. I also told them the audio system including sounds for turn signals had momentarily stopped working a few days before but had started working again. They kept the car for four days but stated that all the issues were caused by the low battery which they charged. They charged me $184 for the analysis which was fine. However, when I got the car back, I found the audio system was not working but now was permanently not working. It seems to me that if they were going to charge me $184, that they would check one of the symptoms and that the car would not be returned to me with an issue that I stated when I handed it to them. I called them the next day to discuss with my service advisor and was told he would call back but he ghosted me. Will take it in to the dealer. read more

Well my dad took his Toyota Sienna van in because the heater didn't work there was a clicking nosie in the dash so I no that it's Usually a blender actuator that's bad thought they would tell us how much an which one but instead they didn't even look at the heater said it was low on water an that's probably why the heater didn't have hot air so don't worry about the clicking Noise even if it was low on water any garage Mechanic would know put water in an check for heat they didn't even do that what kind of Mechanics, do they have working there? So my dad's heat still didn't work so Le to me tell you what they did do for my 86 year old dad now remember he brought the car an Specifically said the heater doesn't work they took it Upon themselves to tell him what was wrong with the hole van Which was an An estimate of $12.000 we been driving the car for couple years with no major issues so what I'm getting around to is they charged him 200.00 dollars an didn't even look at what we brought it in for oh so YouTube Mechanics know more than the Mechanics there because I I looked on Youtube the fist video the guy said clicking the blend door showed me how to fix it pulled the glove box out one little air duct out 3 screws took me less than a hour an pulled it a part cleaned it put it back heat works great no thanks to John's automotive an it didn't cost me anything but an hour of time really mad about the way they did my 86 year old dad so I don't know about the Mechanics Abilities there at there shop read more

Went in for an oil/filter change. Left with an unsecured airbox allowing dirty air into the engine with resulting altered airflow parameters set for the engine. Dirty air can ruin an engine. I am glad I checked that after getting home. I then checked the oil level, and it was 1/2 quart overfilled which can cause seal and gasket leaks if left unchecked. I had to return to get these problems rectified. I highly recommend checking for these items before leaving any shop since they are too busy to do so themselves, as I have been informed. This problem is more common with many other shops as well. Always double check the work if you value your car. read more

I noticed the splash shield under my car was hanging loose and had scraped on a driveway. Since I hadn't been thrilled with my previous auto repair place (see next Yelp review for that), I called John's Auto Care, remembering that I had gotten a flyer from them in the mail. I explained the situation and Tom said to bring it right in. 10 minutes later, they had it lifted up and let me know that several bolts and clips were missing from the last time someone changed my oil. Isaac made a very good, but temporary repair and Jordan is working up a quote for the permanent fix. They did NOT charge me for this service. I was stunned. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Soooo happy to have found an auto repair shop I can trust! read more

I placed a challenge in front of John's Auto Care in the form of a repair for which they knowingly were short of a Ford specific, expensive tool. Service Consultant Jordan accepted the challenge, discussed a possible solution with his technicians and me, and the shop completed the job for below the estimate. The key here was to keep my 2010 Ford Fusion at THIS shop rather than the local Ford dealership where the job was botched previously in 2020. As a highly knowledgeable customer (I've been a shadetree mechanic for well over forty years and only farm out the tougher jobs) I truly appreciate the shop's professionalism, communication, and detailed notes regarding work completed on my well seasoned fleet of four. I was trying to fins somewhere to change synthetic oil without charging and arm and a leg; I got a flyer in the mail for John's Auto for a good price and decided to give it a try. Everyone there was SO nice and helpful. I was surprised they even gave me a ride to work when I dropped my car in the AM. They weren't pushy about things they found on the car that needed attention like other places, and I felt they were honest and upfront about all the services. I got a coupon for an oil change so I took in my vehicle and according to the coupon I can get a tire rotation. So the front desk guy told me that they only do it upon request and so I told him OK I would like it done. When I went to go pick up my vehicle, he told me that the tire rotation wasn't done because my two front tires had a better tread on them for better traction. Well, I told him that it didn't matter because my car is all wheel drive. He mumbled and had no response, probably because he assumed a woman wouldn't know any better. read more

At my first visit, there was a misunderstanding with my service request, and I ended up paying for a service that I didn't really need, while not getting the diagnostic I came in for. While I did have them perform a few of the services they recommended (and they did them well), I sent email feedback to Ron, the service manager, not expecting to ever hear back. Within hours, I heard back! Ron's response was just perfect, and he immediately made things right. Great mechanics and a manager that wants to please his customers is a great service these days. I had a brake light issue with my Chevy Traverse. The delalership and AAA Auto Repair wanted at least $150 to just diagnose the problem. John's Auto Care did the diagnosis and repair for a lot less than the diagnosis only charge from the other repair shops. I will return in the future. read more

We've used them twice. The first time was not a great experience, but we wanted to give them another chance. Both times the price from the quote changed significantly to what we got charged. The second time they DID make it right after we questioned it. And the service they performed was satisfactory (the problems were fixed). Just double, triple confirm, IN WRITING, what they are charging you before you commit. Despite making it right, we won't go back. There is just too much competition out there to deal with that again. read more

Had a great experience recently and love supporting a small business owner. There was a change in management in the past few weeks. For much less than what I have typically paid at a commercially-owned oil change business, John's provided me an oil change, brake inspection and rotated my tires, among other things. The service was friendly and caring. I let them know I thought I may need new brakes based on my car's mileage and they came back to let me know that I was fine for the time being. There are a few times when an auto repair is nothing short perfect, this wasn't one of those experiences. Ever waited 7 1/2 for a smog test and oil change? If your answer is no, don't worry. This place will hook you up with the most unreasonable wait of your life. You'll probably need to come back for the smog check though, doing both in the same day would only make sense. The customer service itself was horrible, the desk manager was hostile on the phone when asked why it was taking so long. No discounts on labor or parts were given despite the long wait and poor service. In fact, half of the time waiting for the service was charged as labor. Tell me who in their right mind takes 4hrs to change the oil in a car? I could do that myself in an hour and a half. Don't come here if you want to spend less than $125 for an oil change. This is the 4th time posting this review due to threatening phone calls, messages, and the general manager's (Brian) attempts to make this review appear invalid. This was a real experience that actually occurred despite their attempts to make it appear otherwise. read more

These guys are great, I came in with a fuel emission code and they took care of me. Though the light came on a couple times after fixing the issue, they rectified the problem for me without charge. Their warranty for their work is great, these guys are honest and have fair pricing. Sean is very helpful and was able to work with my car without issue. I've loved this shop since I found them two years ago, and when it comes to quality car repair, they are on top of things. Let me say that again. They have GREAT mechanics. Unfortunately, on my last trip there, I found out at least some of the staff are also belligerent and bigoted. When a guy named Casey in the office practically shouted, "Everyone knows Obama is gay, his wife is a tranny, and their kids are rented!" I knew it was my last visit to John's. This was said to me, the customer, who dared disagree with him about a political discussion that he had started, in front of another employee. At that point, I extracted myself from the conversation and started texting my wife about the exchange. The second employee was the guy actually helping me with my service, and he apologized for Casey's outburst, but at that point the damage had been done. I suspect Casey saw the target on my back when I drove in with a hybrid, but this guy was off the rails to the point that I would not be able to trust the work the mechanics do on my vehicles again. Again, great mechanics, but I can't imagine any situation where a customer should know what an employee's political affiliation is, much less be made to feel uncomfortable by an employee's clearly over the top conspiracy theories. read more

Great prices, great customer service. I live 2 miles away from John's Auto Care and they picked up my car from my house, serviced it, and dropped it off at my house, all in the same day. No extra charge to pick up or drop off my car! When they dropped off my car, I noticed that the tire rotation I had asked them to do was not on the receipt. The technician explained that he had checked the remaining tread depth on the tires and they did not rotate the tires because all the tires had 7 mm of tread left except for one of the back tires which only had 6 mm of tread left, and if they had put the back tires on the front of the car (i.e., rotated the tires) the car would likely not drive straight. I said that was fine, and they left. Then they showed up again 10 minutes later and handed me a revised receipt with an added note explaining why they didn't do the tire rotation! THAT is customer service! read more

Hello all, I was referred to this shop by a friend several years ago. I take all my vehicles here. I have experienced complete professionalism with the front desk employees and the manager RON as well. On a recent visit for an oil change, the oil cap was accidentally not put back on after the oil change. John's auto care offered to send out a crew to clean my garage floor that only had minor oil drips on it and RON was completely professional and gave me a double refund for the service. They have done several other jobs on all my vehicles without incident. I have never had to bring a vehicle back for the same issue. I really appreciate John's Auto Care. I was having issues with my car and suspected a potentially serious engine problem. I tried taking it to the Roseville Hyundai dealership, but they turned me away because I didn't have an appointment and told me the earliest appointment is a month out despite my efforts to explain the seriousness of the engine issue. I took it to John's to see if they can help me. Sean listened to what I observed wrong with the car and pointed out it sounds like an engine issue that should be covered under my exiting power train warranty. He suggested I call Hyundai warranty directly and see if they can help. They offered me a ride home so I can get back to work and leave my car with them until I have things sorted out. Hyundai ultimately helped me find a dealer to get my car into the same day to get the issue resolved (turns out it's a engine rod bearing recall related issue). I really appreciate that Sean had my best interest in mind and provided helpful guidance to help me find a solution. Now that's what good customer service should be like! I was on a road trip and the brakes on my 2011 Ford Flex hit their end of life. Luckily, I was stuck near Johns auto care when it happened. Embarrassingly for me, being in the custom Automotive business for 30+ years, I had this issue. Yes, I should have inspected the brakes before leaving home. But, I didn't. So, I had to find someone I could trust and who would charge me a fair price, after all, I am used to paying wholesale for all of my automotive needs. The crew at John's Automotive are professional, and the price was right. I have to say that the service was excellent, beyond my expectations. They gave me a shuttle ride to the place I was staying for the day and I really enjoyed talking to the driver. I was back on the road in a few hours. Bottom line: I have worked with many different automotive shops all over the world, I have hundreds of Limousines scattered across the globe so, I am required to maintain relationships with repair shops as a service to my clients. If, in the future I have a client in need anywhere in the Sacramento area, I know exactly where to send them for excellent service. They use quality parts.
