Cute front entrance

Stopped by for gas and saw the resturaunt right across. We were hungry so we stopped in. Everyone was so kind and understanding with whatever we needed. Prices are reasonable and proteins are huge! The ravioli was the best with beef and pork stuffed in them. The fettuccine Alfredo had smooth and silky noodles but the chicken was a little too dry/tough. The chicken in the parmigiana was good though! The free focaccia bread was unexpected but yummy! Great addition to the meal. Clean bathrooms and a great dinner to keep going with our 12 hour drive home.

It sucked, most of the food was not fresh nor eddible because there were too many toppings. I ordered a pasta with white sauce and I thought it was nice but THEY PUT LOTS OF FUCKING BUTTER AT THE END OF THE PLATE basically made me MAD. It was nothing like Italian food It was more of like sucked American food that tried to make normal Italian food. But the reason I put 2 stars is the service it was pretty good

Goat cheese and strawberry salad

Came here for some lunch while on a weekend away with my best friend. Overall, it was just ok. The restaurant appears to be a converted diner, but they have a lot to offer within the menu. Directly left is the pizza area complete with oven. Facing the rear right side is the kitchen, and then there's plenty of seating with tables and booths for the restaurant. If you go to the right through the main door, then you're in the bar, which I did not check out. I started with the spinach and strawberry salad with goat cheese and almonds. I think the spinach must've been on its last freshness date because it tasted bitter. The goat cheese was nice and the almonds were supposed to be toasted. I then had a meatball parm hoagie. I was very disappointed. I really need to start asking if the meatballs are homemade or not. These were definitely not. Four small Chef-Boy-R-Dee tasting balls in a hoagie roll that made them look even smaller. The roll was too soft and should have been toasted like a grinder. The sauce and pizza cheese were plentiful and made this sandwich. I only ate the meatballs and a quarter of the huge roll. I also had an Orange Creamsicle "drink of the month." This was nice and strong with the alcohol. My friend had a Stromboli with ham and peppers. Again, he was satisfied but not thrilled with it. He even got upcharged a buck for tomato sauce in a cup which he did not ask for. But it did improve the Stromboli. Pepsi products here. Ugh. With so many choices on the menu, I'm not sure if anything is a real winner or everything is just average. Overall, we were full at the end. $56 including tax and tip for one appetizer, one drink, and two entrees. Oh yeah, I also picked up some of the "famous wings" with Caribbean Jerk rub but I brought those home and can't tell you how they were as I haven't had them yet. Hope they're better than what we had for lunch. They have over 20 flavors of wings and the waitress said they sell a lot.

Calamari marinara over linguine

The outside is not much to look at, neither is the inside really. The staff was friendly and very attentive, they definitely deserve more than two star. However the food was fair. To start the salad came very promptly, however the tomato vinaigrette was not tasty. My husband was unable to even eat it. The bread that came was also tasteless, however the breadsticks were very good. I had the chicken piccata. It was very tasty with a lot of sauce, a bit on the watery side. Served with fresh spinach and a side of my choice of a baked potato. There was a lot of chicken, enough for two servings. My husband had the calamari marinara. The seafood tasted tinny, the sauce was very watery, and the overall taste was not great. The linguine was slightly overcooked.

Stopped here for a late dinner because all of the other area restaurants were closing at 9:00pm. We ordered the French Onion soup, some wings and the baked stuffed clams. The French Onion soup tasted better than it looked. It was unlike any French Onion soup I ever ate. It tasted a lot like vegetable soup and all of the cheese melted and sunk to the bottom. I don't think I'd ever order it again. It was strange. The wings were decent. Not good and not bad. Nothing more to say. The baked stuffed clams were not good. Not sure what the stuffing was. It was like a clam on the half shell with stove stop on top covered in butter and broiled. Not good. The service was friendly but not what I'd consider professional.

Chicken Parmigiana

Went here for my birthday and had the best meal. Great service and really yummy Italian food.

Our order showing the calzone, listed after the rest of the food. Probably why we did not get it.

We were on vacation and this was the closest pizzeria to our stay. It was very good and great price for a large pie.

We had a wonderful meal here. Bread wasn't my favorite, but the pasta was delicious. Nice change from fast food at a truck atop.

By far the best restaurant we dined in during our Poconos vacation. Walking in, we quickly realized…read morewe were in a hot spot because the place was busy for a Tuesday night in September. Despite not having a reservation, we were able to be seated. But I do suggest planning ahead and reserving a table. Especially if you visit during high season. Anyhow, the service was excellent. Our server, Sam was extremely attentive. She explained the menu to you and shared some recommendations. We started out with a Caesar salad to share and knew right then that the servings would be ample! The kitchen was kind enough to split the salad for us between two plates and I'd have thought just half was shareable. But lucky us, plenty to indulge. We absolutely LOVED the dressing but found it a slight tad heavy handed. If we make it back, we'd definitely ask for dressing on the side. But nonetheless we appreciated the authentic Caesar dressing complete with anchovy paste. For entrees we had the penne vodka with sausage and shrimp 360. Both plates were big enough to feed an army and made for nice left overs. But make no mistake, both were delicious! Hit it out of the park, delicious! And beautiful al denté pasta. This meal really hit the spot. Even though we were completely stuffed, we managed to find room for homemade pumpkin cheesecake! I don't say this lightly, but it was hands down the best slice of cheesecake I've ever had. We couldn't stop raving about out it! This is a great restaurant to visit when visiting the Poconos. The setting was elegant in an understated way while being incredibly cozy! I think it would be great for larger groups but also intimate enough for couples.

Basso Cucina Italiana is an Italian restaurant and wine bar that opened in Cresco, Pennsylvania in…read moreJuly 2010. It was founded by members of the Pipolo family, including Bill Jr. and his wife Kim. The Pipolo family, including father Bill Sr. and mother Fabiana, had moved to the Poconos area from the Bronx, New York in 1984. Bill Sr. had a construction business which sons Bill Jr. and Peter worked in after graduating from high school. Bill Jr. first had some experience in the hospitality business when he owned the Calico Kitchen in Canadensis. When a location formerly home to Harrison's Tavern became available, the Pipolo family acquired it with the intention of turning it into an authentic Italian restaurant. The whole building was completely redesigned to resembled a trattoria in an Italian mountain village. Basso became a full Pipolo family endeavor. Even the grandchildren can be seen greeting guests and bussing tables from time to time. Bill Jr. and Peter later purchased the former Jagermeister German restaurant down the street and turned it into the PourHouse Neighborhood Bar & Grille after a renovation. My family and I visited Basso for dinner on a recent trip to the Poconos. We had previously visited the Pipolos' other restaurant, The PourHouse, and were excited to try their take on authentic Italian fare. The interior was nice and cozy. After looking over the menu, my wife and I decided to start out with some cocktails. I had the "Limoncello Spritzer" while she had the "Peach Berry Pink Sangria". Both were very refreshing! For our entrees, I had the "Pork Chop Di Parma" (juicy 12-oz. pork chop topped with prosciutto and red wine demi-glaze served over risotto), my wife had the "Cherry Red Shrimp" (sautéed shrimp with garlic, cherry tomatoes in a fresh basil butter sauce over linguine), our older son had "Tortelloni with a Pink Sauce", and our younger son had "Baked Ziti". Although the wait for the food was a little long, it was well worth it because everything was to die for! Our server was also very friendly and helpful. It's also worth noting that parking is very limited, so definitely try to stop in on the early side. We had an excellent experience at Basso and give them our seal of approval!
