As a bit of a traditionalist, I wasn't sure if I would love the place that came into the same location as an old towne favorite restaurant that I have always known and loved. But I was surprised by the beautiful atmosphere, the yummy meal, and the incredible service. We loved our waiter, Christo. Stormy weather came along and threw out the electricity. So, you would think that he would be running around like a chicken with its head cut off, but Christo was gracious and on top of it until the lights come back on. Nothing disrupted, evening: magical. They left a few things for my traditionalist heart to recognize inside, so next time I will get a reservation for one of those booths. read more

We celebrated Christmas Eve at Jojo's. They seated us promptly as we had a reservation. Our table was in the bar which was fine, as far as being close to things and feeling the festive spirit. The food was very good. My husband was disappointed with the lack of flavor of his Veal Milanese, but everyone else was very pleased with their dinners and all were pleased with the apps to start. Service was very good also, despite it being a very, very busy night. The only complaint we had was that the space between the chairs and the bar stools is very narrow. A man was standing behind my daughter and son facing the bar and servers could not get down the aisle to serve other patrons. It was a constant bumping and "excuse me" and servers coming close to spilling and dropping because this gentlemen would not move. Another man sitting farther down the bar insisted on moving a bar stool out to make space so no one could sit next to his party at the bar. He left the stool in the middle of the doorway, creating a hazard. Also, he dragged the stool and just sternly spoke to my adult children to "move it" while he battled against them, hitting my daughter in the back. It was almost comical. Now, I realize the restaurant is not responsible for customers' rudeness, but, I do suggest they do something to alleviate the narrow passage between the bar and table and chairs. We would not go back if we had to sit in the same location again. read more

As foodies, we try a lot of different places and you can't win them all. Jojos is one of those losses you take when trying new things. The prices for the portion sizes are not that great. We left there hungry and are currently en route to a shake shack. read more

Kudos to Jojo's! We had an amazing experience last Friday. The ambiance is really nice and comfortable. The drinks were reasonably priced, generous and well-made. The bread on the table had a very nice variety from which to choose. We ordered the special, Lobster Filet Wellington. It was priced well and absolutely delicious. The filet was perfectly prepared: medium rare, as ordered. The lobster was a nice touch. We ordered augratin potatoes (rich and wonderful) and green beans almondine as sides. Our fantastic waiter, Danny, brought the potatoes and the entrees. He showed us that the Wellington came with asparagus and asked us if we still wanted the green beans. How thoughtful for Danny to mention this to us! We didn't have the green beans as the asparagus was plenty to eat. We can't wait to go back to Jojo's! read more

Exactly what was needed in Chagrin Falls. Reminds me of Blakes restaurant before it burned down and became 17 River Grill. We have not dined in the dinning room, but the bar area is fantastic. Very well laid out, tables are available first come first serve. Lots of room at the bar, the food is wonderful. Get the colossal shrimp cocktail. Calamari is fresh not chewy. We had the filet mignon. So tender and cooked to the doneness as requested. read more

Steve Gokorsch 9:10 AM (27 minutes ago) to no-reply Folks, We were at jojo's yesterday and eat on the back patio. Some comments: The email messages regarding the reservation were appreciated. Well done. Keep this up it helps me remember. The hostesses were wonderful. When I asked to move to the patio, and did not know how to get there, one of them said follow me and walked me back to a table. She could have pointed the way, but went the extra mile. Nice. Our server, Calib was excellent. It did take a few minutes for water to be served, however he was on top of serving us. (and he was fun...I kidded him, being Black about his Biblical Amish name...he said he was not Amish.) However...the food missed the mark. I order beef carpaccio, my favorite. I wanted to compare it with M's and 17 River. It appeared that the beef had been sliced earlier in the day and was dry and stuck to the plate. The aioli sauce and arugula with capers was fine...but the dry beef...I would not have left this out of the kitchen. (Presentation was fine.) The French fries were great. Nice presentation and perfectly seasoned. We ALL enjoyed them. My wife and our guest ordered Garden cheeseburgers (my wife's favorite). Two burgers arrived raw, still bloody. Now we like medium rare (pink) beef, and ordered med-rare, but these were raw. We sent them back and they were replaced with two med-rare ones at no charge. But of course we all could not eat our meal together. It is difficult cooking on an open grill. p.s. I am not sure how you can check a big burger like these for MR... Alice's lobster roll had too much mayo, and not enough lobster. The bread was excellent...but the meal was not up to her expectations. Now...that order was for a woman who was raised in Boston on the ocean and who's expectations for lobster roll was pretty high. We kidded Alice when she ordered it saying that she should not compare lobster rolls here in Chagrin with those from home. Oh well. She said she would help update their recipe. My wife and I decided to meet friends and their recent college graduate daughter on a Thursday evening for dinner after numerous great weekend visits to the bar for a drink and appetizers. We sat at the high top with bench and chair seating tucked in the left corner of the front dining, just left of the bar as you're facing it. One of the bartenders was our server. After waiting an extended period of time our drink order was taken. Again after an extended period our dinner order was taken. Nearly one hour later 4 of 5 dinners were served and the last was delivered by a manager roughly 5 minutes later. 2 of our friends ordered the spaghetti and meatball entree. Both said the meatball was tremendously salty. My meal was just OK and my friend whose dinner arrived late felt hurried to finish. His meal was comped but it didn't change the overall poor experience. We will return but if we opt for dinner again it will be in the dining room with an experienced server. We will not sit for dinner in the front area again. read more

This was my first visit to jo Jos bar the ambience was great. The food was good. The waitress is the main reason why I'm writing this review. She was not very attentive we had a party of seven., When she brought out the bread we asked her is the breadSupposed to be cold, her response was I just pick it up., Instead of saying let me get you another basket of bread. We observed her being very attentive to other tables coming back asking if they needed anything not once did she come back to us until after we received our food. She made several comments under her breath while serving our table , when I asked to repeat it she declined. At the end of our service we ordered a cake, we got the bill before we received the cake, so I reminded her that we ordered a cake and had not yet received it. She mumbled under her breath I don't serve it with a very condescending attitude, I stated what did you just say, she stated the server will bring it out.So the Rating is for service. read more

Wonderful atmosphere, terrible food. I really, really wanted to love this place. The menu is very limited and they have a VERY LIMITED menu for gluten free options. If you eat gluten free, I'd go elsewhere. It's really shocking that a restaurant of this caliber ignores offering gluten free alternatives. Even just a bun. Nothing. Even the salads are very limited and small. So if you're hungry that would not leave you filled. Very dissatisfied. We had heard from others the food wasn't good - even those not on GF diet. We asked to order wine with our dinner and our server went MIA .... tracked her down to remind her about the 2 bottles of wine and by the time she brought it we were done with our dinner - mentioned it to the manager and she didn't even apologize, neither did the server! Sad to be writing such a bad review on a place me and my girlfriends had such high hopes for. We went here for my cousins birthday in hopes to have a great special experience. From the beginning our service was sub par. The waitress came over once in the very beginning then not again for another 20 minutes after the rest of the guests arrived to take drink orders. During appetizer orders, she tried to rush off before the whole table placed an order, which would be understandable if they were busy- they weren't. After apps she took one to box up and didn't come back with it for a half hour (gross, wherever it sat, whoever it was around didn't want to eat it after the fact). Then our entrees arrived, my cousins medium rare ($68) steak was well, well done. Everyone's pasta was very very bland, flavorless and lacking seasoning. My pasta was dry and hard (as in under cooked). The prices were higher than an average dinner so we all expected higher than average quality. Our waitress didn't come back once to offer more drinks, which were all empty since before we received our entrees, (the food runner said he couldn't take a drink order) or see how our food was (it wasn't good), or to refill water which was also empty since mid meal When we asked for our checks we didn't see her for another 32 minutes (to be exact) to where we had to grab a manager to please ask to get us out of there. The manager stated she can't help our waitress and she'd be over soon. Another 10 mins went past before she finally gave us our checks which were all messed up and incorrect (there was only 5 of us, simple orders, few items). We all had to Venmo each other cause we didn't want to wait any longer for her to correct them. At this point we had been at dinner for THREE HOURS. I hate to write something so negative but others were complaining around us with other servers. Standards just aren't what you would expect out of such an expensive restaurant in such a high end location. read more

Atmosphere was the best part. Food is average - they can do Italian but stay away from the steak. Poor meat quality and over seasoned. Customer service was a red flag. Not sure the name of the manger/general manger that worked Saturday night but he needs to go. He should reevaluation his career path, there is no room for this behavior in the Hospitality Industry. How can you tell a Table you would not charge them for a 54$ Filet that was so overwhelming seasoned with SALT/PEPPER and then change your mind+ no offer up a replacement because " you ate to much of that". The worst part of the situation was when we confronted you about that dinner charge still on the bill, you let you staff mock and disrespect my Wife. It was your idea to remove the charge, we didn't ask. Then not to have enough respect for us to let us know that you changed your mind is spineless, I feel bad for the poor waiter you had fall on your sword to deliver that news. Why are you in the Hospitality?? Control your staffs - the blatant disrespect towards my wife was the most unprofessional thing I have ever witnessed. You are the worst professional I have ever dealt with in any restaurant! You ruined the entire experience for our table of 6. I went here recently and had one of the best experiences I have ever had at a restaurant, our waiter Moe went above and beyond the entire time. Everything came out perfectly and at the appropriate time. Overall this is one of the top restaurants I've eaten at in all of the United States, it will receive 5 stars from me along with a return visit. While at dinner we met the Owner who was an outstanding individual with plenty of experience in the restaurant industry and it shows. Everything about this place was thought out perfectly, and for the price it simply can not be beat. read more

Very nice restaurant. Food was excellent! Service was on point- very friendly, knowledgeable. Someone in our party was gluten- free and they were very accommodating. We ordered the tuna for an appetizer, Branzino, wedge salad, wagyu bucatini bolognese and asparagus. Dessert was carrot cake and Italian coffees. Excellent- very good tasting. We wanted the tiramisu, but they were out. That was the only disappointment. As you leave, all of the workers wish you well and thank you for coming in. We will definitely be back! read more

My wife took me here for my birthday, as we have never been there before. Checked in at the reservations desk and were immediately seated. The waitress was excellent and attentive, food and ambiance were wonderful. The restaurant was a little noisy (chatter) for me, but it could be dealt with. There is only one negative issue I feel I need to address. I ordered a Godfather (2 parts scotch and 1 part Amaretto) on the rocks my normal cocktail. Normally all of the top restaurant's we have patronized in the Cleveland area charge on average approximately between $9 and $15.00 for that cocktail. Needless to say, I was shocked when we got the bill, as they charged $9 for the Amaretto and $12 for the scotch, which by the way, was not top shelf. So, in essence, check their prices "before" ordering a cocktail, mine were $21 each (I had 2, $42), when the "cost" of making a Godfather cocktail is around $2.60. That was my only issue, otherwise everything was excellent. read more

Disappointing. A restaurant like this should be able to cook a steak to order. My steak arrived well done. Sent it back and server didn't even bring me a new plate so I could eat my sides which were cold by the time my replacement steak arrived half hour later costed in so much pepper I was sneezing. Sides were just okay. For this price the food needs to be better and the staff should be trained better. After sending back one steak and not finishing the second one and told the server it wasn't that great when asked she shrugged and said oh sorry. We made an early reservation for 4:15 four people. The restaurant was empty except for one table where a wine tasting was going on and the hostess sat us down directly right next to them and their very large spit bowl (really?) so that was our first impression of the restaurant listening to this woman push and pitch her wine sales to the sommelier and his sidekick. Now....... The food....... We ordered 3 steaks each one was prepared at the wrong temp and had to be brought back to the kitchen as we asked for rare and we received 2 medium and one basically raw. The pasta was over cooked and the potatoes were very greasy almost tasted spoiled. Our server was interesting as she said every option on the menu was her all time favorite so we joked about that amongst ourselves as we learned we better not ask her opinion on anything anymore because we now know her answer. Some good points...... the salads were great and the bread basket was very nice with a variety to chose from the crème brûlée was very good and the hot fudge Sunday was good but needed hot fudge as there was hardly any on there and it was frozen fudge (hmmm?) Sooo love that we have such a gem of a place close by. Four girlfriends got together to celebrate a couple of big birthdays. One of our gifts was our server Kimmy, she entertained us all night! She was fabulous! Every suggestion she made was spot on. The sauce from the Scampi appetizer could be served with bread and I would be happy sooooo fabulous! We enjoyed a variety of entrees and of course all had to try the others... Wagyu beef bolognese with homemade pasta, salmon done to perfection, crispy yet moist chicken and you just have to order the scalloped potatoes to share, all divine!!! Beautiful decor! The bar is beautiful, a few dining rooms from small and quaint to large, open airy. Staff very professional and friendly. Nice selection of appetizers from your typical shrimp cocktail (not so typical as the shrimp were the largest I've seen to not so common appetizers. The bread and few different breads are served, warm and with salted butter. A cranberry dark bread and the Sesame baguette were out of this world. We both started with a steakhouse wedge salad, served on ice cold plates and were a decent size and most importantly they were delicious. Dinner, my husband ordered a filet, cooked to perfection and was like butter to cut. Seared on the outside and perfect as ordered. I ordered the saffron shrimp garganelli, six very large shrimp atop a plate of pasta in a saffron cream sauce, definitely will order this again. Average or typical dessert menu which was good. My husband tried a hot fudge sundae with candied pecans, he said it was delicious but it was huge. Finished our meal with French pressed coffee, perfect. There is a patio out back which will open in a few weeks. Can't wait to return. read more

Horrendous service. My steak was very over cooked. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out medium well, leaning towards well done. I wasn't too irritated at first, and was planning to just send it back and get a new one. But then the server didn't even come and check on us for 25 minutes. At that point everyone else in my party had finished their meal, so I didn't want to send it back and get a new one. Our server didn't seem to care and just brought us out check- and she charged us for the overcooked $42 steak that I didn't eat. After waiting another 10 minutes for her to come back and tell her, we finally found the manager who took it off. I get that the kitchen makes mistakes, or maybe even the server put the order in wrong. But the lack of service and lack of regard is inexcusable. We saw several other servers working their butts off. Our was just atrocious. Will not be back again ever. read more

I wish I could give this place a 0 because I never even got past the floor manager who was, hands down, one of the most immature, rude, and surly persons I have ever met. Two weeks prior, when I made the reservations, I asked if we could have a window seat. When we arrived, on time, for an early dinner reservation, we were told that window seating is "upon request, but not guaranteed". I understand that these types of tables are first come first serve, but there were 3 available window tables and the restaurant was not even crowded yet. When pressed to sit at one of the open tables, the floor manager said that we had a reservation and those tables are for walk-ins. I replied that I will cancel my reservation, walk out and then walk back in. Even the hostess tried to help us. The floor manager than told me that we could not do that. If she sat us at the front table, "she would be screwing over a waitress in the back" who needed the table. We were told that they have a rotation that needed to be followed. When I asked to talk with the owner, she said he was not in the restaurant. I informed her that I will be calling the owner and she replied with a smirk, "I will tell Rick, the owner myself......we are good friends". My stomach was actually in knots so if I had even stayed there I could not have eaten. What type of customer orientated manager acts like this and then turns away customers, with open tables right in front of them? Luckily there are plenty of options in Chagrin Falls for a nice meal, with better prices, and non-snotty staff. I really wanted to try JoJos but can confidently say I will be sure to stay away from this place and tell my friends, family and colleagues to stay far away as well. read more

The food is very good - except for the gummy pasta. BUT the worst complaint is how dark it is - everywhere I have been seated, and in particular the "hallway" booths. And they refuse to increase the lighting. That is a shame because you literally could not see your food and took much of the pleasure away from the chef's creations. And certainly squelched any dream of a dessert we wouldn't be able to see. The noise level was so extreme we had to lean forward to hear each other practically scream conversation. Only one soup selection is available, so take it or leave it - but the bread is awesome, even though it was delivered to the table at the end of the meal. The place is beautiful, but parking is a problem - even at 5:30. Would love to go there often but have to cross it off the list of our regular weekly dinners out. read more

we dined at JoJos after a reservation fell through at 17 Grille. the staff at 17 Grille we rude and unprofessional as compared to the welcoming and inviting staff at JoJo's. both stores were busy. both are the same parent owner. but jojos has a far greater grasp of customer service. food was delicious, cocktails were awesome and service was spectacular. heighly recommended. will definitely go back. wil not return to the other place. read more
