I had a positive experience overall. She texted me the day of to confirm my appt. She asked me some questions about my skin care and my goals. Based on my simple routine and low maintenance style, she made some recommendations for me--drinking more water, always using spf on my face, and using baking soda and coconut oil--to help my skin tone and moisturize. The facial was fine-- and she did lots of extractions -- who knew I needed that? She even got rid of the peach fuzz on my face (I have never that done before!!). A brief neck, head massage also came with the service. This was all part of my Groupon purchase. She asked if I wanted my eyebrows cleaned up (a separate service), to which I said yes. She waxed and shaped them nicely. She also suggested that I look into "microblading" my eyebrows. I had not heard of this. She doesn't offer this service at this location but gave me the name of a neighboring salon. She is a full service salon. I agree with the other yelpers on the initial response. I, too, texted for my appt because the voicemail said that was the best way to reach her. I didn't hear back for a week so I called and left a voicemail. I called a few days later and luckily she answered the phone and I was able to make an appt before my Groupon expires. So it is important to book appt right away, even if that appt is far out just to make sure you get it in! Her suite is a small room in a much larger space with salons in a place called "Salons by JC" which is located next to 24 Hour Fitness and Vons in the shopping cneter off Midway. That should be part of the address/directions on the Groupon itself or in the text for appt confirmation. I go to this 24Hr Fitness and Vons all the time but never paid attention to this place, which is full of many individual salons for all sorts of beauty services. in the beginning, it was a wonderful experience. I had a facial done. I'm older so really do much for my skin . I had extensions done unfortunately I did not have a good experience. I have naturally curly hair and I don't think she was used to working with my type of hair. I spent quite a bit of money and unfortunately was not happy at the end. I wish I can give 0 star review here!!! Rude!! I am extremely disappointed and honestly shocked by how unprofessional and disrespectful this business is. I purchased a skincare voucher on Groupon, and since it was expiring soon, I called multiple times to book an appointment. Every call went straight to voicemail. I clearly explained in my message that the voucher was expiring soon and that I needed to use it before the deadline. 'JOJO' completely ignored me. When I tried calling again, she still didn't answer, and the recording told me to text instead. So I texted her -- and her reply was unbelievably rude and dismissive. She told me she could only see me in December, which is after the expiration date, and she didn't care at all about the situation. Her tone and attitude were completely unacceptable. The way she responded made me feel like she treated me differently because of my accent or because I was a Groupon customer. She talked to me as if I didn't matter, with zero professionalism and zero respect. I've visited many skincare places, and I have never experienced such rude, careless, and unprofessional behavior. If she is fully booked and cannot fit me in before the expiration date, then she should honor the service after the expiration -- that's basic customer service. But instead, she refused and acted like it was my problem. This whole experience made me feel discriminated against and completely disrespected. Her "I don't care" attitude explains exactly why this business barely has any reviews. Guys! Don't buy 'Groupon voucher' for this place. I also see that they rude to other Groupon customers. And genuinely hope people can go better place with kind service and who is respectful. You losing business with this holiday season. I am leaving this place shocked, annoyed, furious, and a million more negative adjectives. This "business" is a complete joke. I wish I could leave this place negative stars. First and foremost, this place is so confusing to find. The place's sign is so tiny, that you wouldn't know it says "Jojo's Beauty Bar" until you walk up to it. My sister bought me a facial groupon for this place towards the very end of October and it actually expires today (January 27, 2015). I had a facial appointment for today, but it didn't end up happening because Jojo is unprofessional. The first time I contacted her is when I tried calling her, but she didn't answer and her voicemail said to text her. So, I texted her mid December asking for an appointment. She was booked for the time I wanted, so I told her I'd text her back again when I'd be able to schedule an appointment. The next time I texted her was the beginning of January, and she didn't text me back until 3 days later. Whenever I would text her, she wouldn't text back, so I'd have to text her again asking her the same thing--I was double texting. The last time we texted was 2 days ago, and she said "See u then" but did I see her? No. I did not see her. The hairdresser that was working there asked if I texted her reminding her of the appointment, and I just thought that was so hilarious. The man I asked was nice, though, so I won't say anything bad about him. Plus, he told me they're each their own businesses who rent the space, so it's not like they're connected. Anyway, why would I have to follow up when SHE is the one who booked the appointment for me? I'm not going to remind her that I have a facial. In early October I purchased a Groupon to receive a facial here. I made an appointment immediately on the phone for a month in advanced. When it came the day of my appointment I found it very odd that I did not receive a curtesy follow up call to confirm my appointment, so I called, TWICE. I never heard anything. After spending 20 minutes trying to find parking, because she failed to mention they have parking I walked in right on time for my appointment. I asked where JOJO's beauty bar was and they said have a seat she will be right with you.... 15 minutes later a young lady approached me questioning me about my appointment. She asked me if I made an appointment, and I said yes, a month ago. Then she asked me if I followed up... I didn't realize paying customers needed to follow up with the business. Comedy!! I have been going to JoNelle for 6 years or more... Honestly can't remember and have no idea why I haven't written a kick ass review! Jojo can handle all of your spa/beauty needs. She is a great esthetician. I trust her with my facials and she always does a great job and leaves my skin glowing! I can rely on her to make the experience relaxing and calming. It's difficult to find a good esthetician one that listens and is great at looking at your skin and recommending treatments that you need without upselling you. I have never been pressured to purchase anything I didn't want or pressured to purchase product that's not her style! She can also handle Eyebrow shaping, waxing and when she is finishing her facial she always works in an amazing head and shoulder massage that makes me want to immediately book another appointment! Oh dear.... DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Really should have listened to the Yelp warnings. This last Wednesday, my husband booked morning facial appointments for today. So, yes, we booked the appointment just a couple of days ago!!!! And, This booking was all done through texting. We said " Saturday works for us " and Jojo's last words were " see ya Saturday!" That sounds clear and confirmed, right? We arrive and text her. We get a text from Jojo, that said ," I thought you cancels ". The texts couldn't have been more clear. " see ya Saturday " and confirmation on our part. And she said the texts were weird....Um. What's weird about booking an appointment for 9 and 10am and a " see you Saturday ". She's somehow trying to blame us for her screw up!? From where I come from, "see ya Saturday"... Pretty much means you will see that person Saturday. Which also means, I'll wake my ass up at 730 am on a Saturday morning to get to my confirmed and scheduled appointment. What a fun and refreshing change of pace! I have been going to the same hairstylist, who I love dearly, for the past two years, and haven't had any reason to change or go anywhere else. However, I'm glad I ventured out. Though the parking can be difficult, and I would recommend getting there 5 or 10 minutes early to find a spot, I didn't have any other qualms or complaints whatsoever. I was lucky enough to find Jonelle to have my make up done for an important event, and I loved the way she applied my make up! It wasn't caked on or over done, she worked with my natural features and just highlighted them. I have been coming to see JoNelle for over a year now. I first started with getting facials last February (which I absolutely LOVE) and she has now become my hairdresser and has given me spray tans as well!! JoNelle does it all! JoNelle is incredibly professional and is amazing at what she does. I go in for a facial every month and each time she switches it up to keep things exciting and new. She cleans my face, performs extractions, does microdermabrasion, the occasional light chemical peel, uses masks, etc. She switches it up based on my unique needs each month. She also waxes my eye brows and colors them to match my hair as well. While she lets the mask or peel set on my face she gives the most relaxing upper body and head massage that makes me wish she would never stop!! She's incredibly attentive to my needs always asking if I'm warm enough, if the pressure is okay and checking on how my face feels. Every time I leave my face looks and feels a million times better!! People always comment on how great my face looks, how smooth it is and how little my pores are. As for when JoNelle does my hair I'm incredibly picky and have been known to freakout after haircuts. My hair is super fine and instead of using permanent dye we use a deep color conditioner that makes my hair so shiny, soft and the color I like it. JoNelle constantly checks with me to give me a piece of mind about what she is doing and how much she is taking off which I greatly appreciate!! During both facials I decided to get my eyebrows waxed and oh my god I have never been so happy with my eyebrows!! I received numerous compliments on them!
