This is my first time trying Jollibee and I have to say, it's not bad, but it's not the greatest. With it not meeting my tastebuds and expectations, I'll give it a 4 stars. Out of the blue I was craving Jollibee so we drove through a storm for it LOL. Currently there's no dine in so you can either order through drive-thru or call and pickup inside. Upon arriving, you can spot Jollibee right away. We kind of looked through their menu online beforehand and while waiting through the drive-thru line. The line moved pretty quickly, so it wasn't a long wait. We ordered 10 pcs bucket (spicy), halo-halo, pineapple juice and rootbeer. Approaching the window, we were greeted, orders was repeated back and food was ready right after paying. We ate there in the parking lot so the chicken was fresh and delicious. The skin was crunchy just how I like it and the meat was very flavorful. The pineapple juice was so refreshing and delicious, I would definitely order more than one next time. Good spot for a quick lunch or dinner. We have been here several times now, and my favorite order is the fried chicken! I like the spicy chicken just how it comes, and my fiancé really likes adding some of the gravy that comes with it. A few of the other items we've tried are the palabok, which I thought had an interesting flavor but was overall kind of meh, and the ube pie which was really good. I was introduced by my Facebook friends to meet at the Pinoy Corner. I said, "where is that?" So, here is the story. Jollibee Restaurant opened at this triangle strip mall between Main and Kirby. Then, other Filipino eateries opening up after that. Hard to miss but difficult to get in here once you missed a turn, you'll have to go around to next turning lane. I often see my Filipino friends posting how happy they are eating at Jollibee in other parts of the world. Ever since the introduction, I have been back for lunches after doctors appointment. Since I don't eat much fried chicken, I can't speak for the difference from other fried chicken joints. But whenever I order chicken, they are always piping hot. I didn't care for spaghetti because it's a little too sweet for me. I haven't tried burgers but I know it's very good. I normally order palabok. It's soft rice noodles with pork sauce, topped with sliced eggs, boiled shrimps and crunchy onions. It's my favorite because it doesn't require much chewing. Customer service is better and they have more common sense than other fast food restaurants. They don't make fun at me because I'm new to Filipino food. Just be sure you're not too hungry yet when you go because for fast food, they were super slow (took 40ish min after placing our order to get our food). I'd suggest calling ahead to save you some time and reduce any hangriness! Here's what I tried: - 10 piece bucket (spicy): there wasn't any spice on the chicken which was a little disappointing, but the chicken was super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! - Mashed potatoes w/ gravy: this was a nice yummy side! The cup of mashed potatoes was a little small, but they gave plenty of gravy (1:2 ratio). - French fries: standard, not seasoned fries - Peach mango pie: a sweet little dessert! The outside pie crust was crispy, and even though it's small, a couple bites was enough to satisfy my dessert cravings. I got the spaghetti and 1 pc fried chicken combo, and it was a good amount of food. The spaghetti is always delicious with the little bits of sweet sausage, tomato sauce and cheese. I chose the spicy fried drumstick and was surprised at how spicy it was. The marinade penetrated into the meat really well, and it has the chili pepper kick that makes your tongue tingle a little. The absolute worst drive thru experience I have ever had. I was told to just pick a spot outside the restaurant and it would be max 15 min before someone would bring me my food. 45 minutes goes by so I go inside to check the status of my food, (6piece meal with 2 sides, and a pie). I was standing there after telling them my order for about 5 min. Im told they are waiting on one of my sides which I do not believe takes 45 min to make. The manager discreetly grabs a side that had been sitting on the counter before i even walked in the store that was supposedly just made and adds it to my bag. That side had been there for way longer than "just made". The reality of it all was that I paid money to them at the window for my meal just for them to forget about me and have me waste my time waiting outside for a meal that probably would have never come out if I did not go inside. Food was cold and drinks were flat. Never coming back to this location again. Hello, my name is Hannah and I watch mukbangs on YouTube which is how I ended up at Jollibee. There is only one location in Texas and being that it's a Filipino chain, it makes sense that it would be in Houston. I read that there is one opening up in San Antonio also. I had to try Jollibee for myself even though friends and family said it was just ok. And it was just ok. Starting with the Chickenjoy, I tried both the original and spicy versions. The original was good but nothing about it stood out to me. The spicy one definitely will make your tongue tingle but was pretty tasty and flavorful. I just wasn't super impressed with either one. Both were served hot and fresh though so thumbs up for that. I also tried the burger steak with rice and while the mushroom/gravy/rice combo was good, the burger steak had an unappealing texture to it. Lots of people compared it to either a Salisbury steak or meatloaf texture and taste. To me, it was like more like a frozen TV dinner kind of steak with gravy. I was not a fan. The Jolly Spaghetti was pretty good. I was forewarned that it has a sweeter taste than your traditional Italian spaghetti. There is definitely a sweetness but it's not overpowering. The sprinkle of cheese gives it a savory balance and I'm not mad about hot dogs in my spaghetti. Peach mango pie - My two favorite fruits came together in the form of a fried pie and I thought it was absolutely delicious. I tasted both fruits and the outside was perfectly crispy and not greasy. Staff was friendly and the place was neat and clean. First time trying Jollibee. It was alright. I tried the original and the spicy chicken, the palabok, the jolly spaghetti, the peach mango pie, and the pineapple juice. I liked the chicken. It was hot and fresh and the crispness is just like Popeyes. The spaghetti was sweet with cut up weiners in it. That was ok I guess. My bad lazy pot of spaghetti is better than this to be honest, but for fast food spaghetti, it's pretty decent. The peach mango pie was like peach cobbler with no cinnamon or vanilla, no spices, but it was good. The palabok was an acquired taste. It's a no for me right now but I could end up liking it. From the traditional Pancit Palabok aka "Fiesta Noodles" to French fries and cheeseburgers. From a bucket of fried chicken to Garlic Rice to buttered corn and back to Adobo. -Just a slew of dishes you'd never find together in a regular American fast food joint. That's exactly what makes this chain so interesting and unique. It's like three or four fast food joints thrown into one with bomb-a$$ Filipino favorites thrown right in the middle of it. It's funny because I saw many biracial couples here and it reminds me of my many non-Filipino friends. Some have very picky palates and would never eat anything unfamiliar to them. My friend took me to Jollibee for the first time and I liked how cute the design of the store was. I ordered the spicy fried chicken with spaghetti and was surprised to find it was sweet and came with mini sausages. Had my first Jollibee experience in my 21 years of living in Houston today and it wasn't disappointing! I got the fried chicken with sides of buttered corn and mashed potatoes and pineapple drink combo. The fried chicken was good with the chicken incredibly juicy and tender- I wish there was special seasoning on the chicken though because it just tasted like plain fried chicken. The buttered corn was nice but I didn't really taste any butter (probably for the best because it tasted healthier). Mashed potato was great!! Pineapple drink was sweet and tasted much like pineapple so I wasn't disappointed. The combo was $8 after tax which isn't too bad for fast food considering the quality and portion of the food. It had an amazing kick and was very savory. The original chicken was one of the best fast food fried chicken I've tried. Now, I've never had philippeno spaghetti and didn't know what to expect. The worsts chicken fry I ever have. All my 10 pieces chicken all burn, very dry and greasy. The chicken look like they recooked the left over. We can't even eat it. Every single piece is burn dry and greasy. I try to call the store to talk to the manager but the phone ringing and ringing go to automatically message. i've been dying to try jollibee for years, even when i still lived in NJ. yesterday i stopped by with a friend to try their famous ~chickenjoy~ and get halo halo. i ordered a two piece with mashed potatoes, a peach mango pie, and an ube pie. they weren't making halo halo, sad. We both got the spicy chicken. The chicken was good but it was just okay. It had a good kick but i wasn't terribly impressed. it's just standard fast food fried chicken. I'd rather get a CFA sandwich or go to any of the other good chicken shops in Houston over this. the mashed potatoes were pretty good, again, adequate for fast food. I did really love the packaging and the cute little "spicy" flags on the chicken. the only reason i am giving Jollibee 3 stars instead of 2 is because of the peach mango pie. these little bundles of goodness are the only reason i am planning to return. if you are a fan of McDonald's apple pie then you HAVE to try these. Delicious crispy shell, with gooey peach mango goodness inside. the fruit has a very fresh taste too, no fake fruit taste. the ube pie was okay, i wouldn't get it again when i could eat a peach pie. Truly love it and I genuinely will come get Jollibee despite the drive and how overpriced it is in the States. I would suggest to look at the deals and offers to save money. The service to pick-up the food has always been simple, but I will admit that sometimes ordering through drive-thru and at the cashier register they do occasionally get the order wrong, but not always! It's a hit or miss honestly. There was a time where the pick-up order was wrong and there was misunderstanding on both parts. I wrote an email to the business since about $30 of food was missing and I got a call from the business within the same day! They called to apologize and ask if I want a refund or come back another day to pick up the missing food and was given extra food as an apology! I went back a few days later to receive the food and the supervisor, Sonia, was very understanding! Thankful for her patience! I did see some displeased or frowning faces from some of the cooks directly at us, but I'm not sure if it was directed to the situation since it was a lot of food and money missing from the first order or was it intentionally directed at us. Regardless, the supervisor was understanding and I understand that it's the end of the shift and dealing with wrong orders from the week prior is especially annoying! Now for the food: Spicy Fried chicken 4/5: probably right on par with KFC which is a notch below Popeyes. The skin was delightfuly seasoned and tasty.. not as spicy as I'd like though. But the meat,, while tender was a bit bland. However, when you dunk itInto b the spicy brown gravy on the side, it skyrockets to a 5/5. That gravy is FIRE. SOOOOO GOOD. Mashed potatoes 3/5: kinda bland. Not very memorable. Still not sure what the hard bits inside are supposed to be. Chicken sandwich: 4/5 solid. Could go toe to toe with the infamous Popeyes one and might even win. My husband loved it! Peach mango pie: 3.5/5 I know people rave about this. But I thought it was meeeh. Not that special.
