I've been coming to this mom n' pop shop for over two decades, and the quality of their kimbap still remains high and up to par. The shop is located in the same strip mall as the Korean supermarket. The place is quite quaint with about 5-6 medium sized tables. It definitely gives hole-in-the-wall vibes. The service is quick and efficient, and everything is made to order. You can watch the whole process of your kimbap get made: rice and ingredients on top of the seaweed, rolled, brushed with sesame oil, and cut. I've tried most of their kimbaps [tuna, bulgogi, jinmi (spicy squid), cheese, kimchi, yuboo cho bab (fried tofu skin kimbap), Angel kimbap (keto)], and my top three are: bulgogi, tuna, jinmi. I absolutely love their spicy chewy noodles with vegetables (jjolmyun). It's not that spicy and packed with shredded cabbage, carrots, and cucumbers. Their spicy rice cake (ddukbokki) is decent and hits the mark. The steamed dumplings and fried chicken were okay. The hand-pulled dough (vegetable) soup (sujebi) was good. They also offer delivery through Postmates. I'm always coming back here to get my kimbap craving satiated! read more

I've always passed by this place due to it being inside the same plaza as Hannam Market, but am only getting to try it now. Came here tonight with my friend and her daughter because she wanted tteokbokki. Once we got there she realized she also wanted Korean fried chicken. So we ordered tteokbokki, Korean fried chicken mild and donkatsu. The food for the price felt mediocre and the portion of the tteokbokki was so small and the flavor wasn't really there imo. Also, the picture of the Korean fried chicken looked like it would be actual chicken thighs but what we got was more like orange chicken. Some parts were so hard my friends daughter had to bite those parts off. Definitely not worth $29 for some fried chicken nugget like chicken. The sauce was off too, never had Korean fried chicken that tasted like sweet cinnamon. The donkatsu was okay when compared to the other two, but it tasted over fried and dry. Service was also just okay. They weren't friendly but also not rude. They close at 8pm and we were still eating at 7:51pm and I felt like the workers were literally sitting there staring at us when it wasn't even 8 yet. So we just packed up and left. If the food was actually good I'd come back, but this place definitely was one of those "now that I tried it, I know what I've not been missing" spots for me. read more

I wanted to grab a quick dinner that was easy to bring with me on the go, so I decided to stop by this spot to get some kimbap! They offer a variety of different rolls here, but I went with the beef and tuna rolls. They make your kimbap to order so it is super fresh! From the two I ordered, the tuna was my favorite--the seasoning in the tuna is really good and it complements everything else in it really well. The beef one was good as well, however, I wish the beef itself had a bit more flavor. I'm not a regular at Jongro, but I have been here a handful of times and just have never left a review. It's my favorite kimbap place in OC! The food tastes so comforting and hearty, and there's just something about the atmosphere that reminds me of when I used to eat kimbap as a kid. Speaking of the food, there are several selections of kimbap that you can choose from. My go to is always the kimchi kimbap with their spicy rice cakes! Their rolls are so large!! And the rice to filling ratio is perfect. They also have katsu and sujebi and a whole host of other authentic Korean cuisine. The ladies there are also the sweetest! It really feels like they're just friends who work together. They are quick to bring out banchan and water. The vibes are pretty laid back, like a small restaurant to catch up with your friends. With "kimbap" in the name, you'll expect to have access to a variety of quality kimbap, and I was pleased with the variety and satisfied with the quality. I had the bulgolgi kimbap, and the veggies were good, although the beef was a bit dry and crumbly. The kimchi fried rice was really good and had a unique kick of green peppers and lots of depth in flavor with almost a cajun profile. One of the best spicy seafood ramen and Tuna Kimbap I've tasted. Friendly service. We had the shrimp fried rice, steamed dumpling, bulgogi Kimbap, and the combo (spicy seafood ramen & half order of Tuna Kimbap). The soup was delicious and spicy, but I could not stop eating it. It tasted like jangpong but with ramen. I would have like to have more seafood. All I did taste was squid and fish cake. A few slices of spam, but I don't eat meat so I put it to the side. My daughter had the dumpling, beef Kimbap and fried rice. She said she liked it all. Our only dislike was that the egg yolk on the fried rice was over cooked so there was no yolk like in the pictures and we could have done without the red bell pepper. All tasted great though. She said the Kimbap tasted better than the one at H-Mart in La Mirada. Will come back and try their fish cake soup next time and get a full order of the Tuna Kimbap! Quick satisfying food for a hot day. I tried multiple times calling and placing an online order and finally got through to a live person after at least six tries. The online ordering was glitchy and also not updated by the business. Thankfully the place had the air conditioning Blasting cool air. Got these rolls ( approximately 10 pieces per order) : beef, tuna, combo (2), fire anchovy, Inari rolls (5 pieces) and a huge bowl of abalone porridge. We ordered 3 dishes, and they gave us one wrong item. We called and the person at the front said we had to pay for the item difference in a very rude tone. And said it was our fault aswell for not checking our items. She never apologized for getting the order wrong and when we went in person for our food she then there mentioned we should have double check if our items were correct on the screen. I ordered takeout for lunch, and I received a bowl of soup with my fire anchovy kimbap. The total was $8.99 plus tax, and they included a side of radish in the box. The radish was very delicious, and it saved my tongue from the spicy fire anchovies. I like that the roll had a good amount of the anchovies, but I'm not sure I would order this kind again. My friend and I were in search of kimbap Saturday afternoon and H Mart did not have any beef kimbap available, only ham kimbap and fishcake kimbap. Luckily, we found Jongro Kimbap a few miles away and they have quite a bit of options for kimbap, including beef! We made our way there around 2 pm. I ordered their beef kimbap ($5.99), which comes cut in 10-11 pieces (I'm not sure, hard to tell from the picture I took). The order also comes with some pickled yellow radish and soup. I ordered it with the intention of it being a light meal, as I was going to get boba afterwards, but it was pretty filling! No regrets ordering the beef kimbap. In fact, I wanted to come back the next day to try some other things on their menu! Unfortunately, they are closed on Sundays, so I wasn't able to try the other kimbap choices (the combo roll which had beef, kimchi, and tuna kimbaps). I'm learning Korean right now and had taken a flyer with their menu home to peruse later. I saw a section in the bottom that's completely in Korean with $9.99 on it and tried to read it. Made it through 70% of the way and had to use the rest of the menu for help. So that section was about a $9.99 combo they're offering with either udon, ramen, or fishcake soup + kimbap or inari sushi. I'm going to have to try that next time I'm here! Parking wasn't too bad in this plaza. Our order was going to take 10ish minutes, so we walked to Super 1 Mart in the same plaza to get some Chilsung Cider. Wish there was a place like this closer to me, but at least if I'm around La Palma or Cerritos and wanting Korean food (which nowadays is a high probability), I shall be here. read more

Food: So i have been to jongro for years because i don't know any other place that serves good sujaebi and after moving i have been craving their sujaebi for a year so i finally got it but however i was very sad because they had changed their sujaebi to be a lot thinner instead of their thick delicious ones before so it doesn't feel the same. however their naengmyeon was delicious with a hint of sesame oil and better when u add the sides that come out with it vibes: it's a very small location which has no AC which is a bit hard considering the heat service: the service is great just some older korean ladies who i can speak korean with overall- it's a cheap spot compared to many other places and an old classic which i will come back to but probably not get the sujaebi anymore read more

I recently came back from Korea where they have these one stop shops and kimbap shops where I had the best pork cutlet kimbap of my life. I was craving kimbap, so I decided to try this place. I was pretty hungry and decided to get the rabboki and the combo kimbap. I couldn't decide which roll I wanted so I got combo which has tuna, kimchi, and beef. The only thing is the rice is on the outside instead of inside. This kimbap was so delicious! I loved the flavor. Out of the three I preferred the kimchi which I thought I would like beef best. The tuna was pretty good too. I didn't like the beed as much. The rabboki was just okay. I wish there was more sauce, more rice cake. There wasn't that much sauce either. This place is nostalgic for me. I've Been coming here since high school, don't live in the area anymore but my family's home is nearby. Whenever we're in The area I try to come here once in awhile. The food is not fancy but it definitely tastes homemade and I love it. I've tried almost everything there since going as a teenager but my favorites are their seafood ramen, udon, Tteokbokki (?), dumplings and all their Kimbap! The owners are so cute and sweet. The cutest little Korean mom-&-pop shop ever! Some of the most welcoming and nicest Korean ladies I have ever met at a Korean food shop. My friends and I decided to come check out this store as we were recommended by our other friends to try out one of our favorite cuisine. We drove around 20-30 minutes from the Westminster area and was definitely not disappointed whatsoever. After analyzing the many options that were provided to us, we decided to go for the spicy veggie noodles, ttebokki, pork cutlet, and tuna kimbap. It was my first time trying the spicy veggie noodles; however, that had to be my favorite. Everything mixed so well in the dish; I would describe it to be the perfect bite for a hot summer day! It was tangy, sauce-y, and light; the cold noodles were bouncy and airismatic. As for the ttebokki, the rice cakes were the best part of this dish. It was thick and chewy - just the way that I like it. For the pork cutlet, the pieces were thin and crispy. It was easy to eat and left a lot of room for me to keep wanting to come back for more. The sauce wrapped the whole dish together, allowing for a different experience in each bite. Lastly but not least, the tuna kimbap was up-to-par with my expectations. The tuna meshed so well with the veggies alongside the complementary side dishes that were handed out (kimchi and pickled radish). My group and I were left feeling extremely satisfied/full. Happy tummies! The service here deservedly needs all the recognition; each of the ladies made us feel at home. The hospitality is off the roof! The ambiance of the place was personal and modest. I'm glad I finally tried this place. It's a little hole in the wall with limited seating. I went during lunch on a weekday so it's not too busy, just a bunch of to-go orders. The portion sizes are pretty big and the kimbap is solid. I do prefer the beef over the tuna. They give you a little soup with the kimbap. The ramen tteokbokki is also very yummy.
