I stopped into Joseph's after a long day at the beach. It's a small space inside, but they have some tables outside as well. The service was friendly and they offer pizza by the slice. Their pizza is a heavy dough for me, I prefer a lighter crust. They also offer entrees and ice cream as well. I would return and try something different, or if I were really hungry, I would order a slice of pizza again. I would also order a pitcher of beer and snag a table outside and enjoy being at the beach. read more

Took a group of 8 there for dinner Saturday night. Small place on the beach side but they are always very accommodating in getting us seated. Garlic knots are the best here, get them "swimming" in garlic butter.....delicious. We had three different types of pizza while we were there and all were very good. They took very good care of my parents who are older but love Josephs, finding and brewing a fresh pot of decaff coffee just for them. Service staff was very good and made sure that we had everything we needed all night long. read more

YUCK! Very dissapointing! Both my husband and I were not at all happy with our food! It all began when they served my red wine at about 90 degrees...then served me a bowl of salad dressing with a about 3 pieces of salad..then my chicken picatta was dry and overcooked and my husbands eggplant parm was just meh!!! He ate 4 bites and was done! We ate at Mezza Luna the night before and it was fantastic! If you want real italian - go there!!! read more

Pizza was terrible. Soda was watered down. Dropped by for a quick slice. Walked in, no pizza in display, they say go ahead and sit down. Takes 15+ mins to heat up slices that had obviously been pre-made and sitting for a while. Soda was 3/4 water, told the waitress, she brought back another one that was also watered down. Pizza comes out, it was not appetizing to look at. Dove in hoping for the best, the best was no where to be found. Sauce was thin and generic, cheese covering was also anemic. Pepperoni was pepperoni, the only way to screw that up would be if they made it in house. Mushrooms were of the dry type. If your in between going here and some where else, go somewhere else. read more

One of the best pizza we've ever had. Personally we like lighter crust in which they made it that way for us. Bite size garlic knots were AMAZING! So was the Greek salad. Our server Joel was very nice and helpful in every way. Can't wait to come back again. read more

Love this place. Went there today after not going for a long while. Time just wouldn't allow. Things are just as good as we remember if not better We love the atmosphere, even though we sit outside. This was my 3rd time eating here. The first time I ate there for lunch by myself. I had spaghetti. I thought the taste of the sauce was kind of odd but thought maybe it was just my taste buds, since I had read several good reviews about this restaurant. So I took my wife and son there to eat and we all three had lasagna. The sauce basically tasted like they opened a can of tomato paste and put it on the pasta . I have never had Italian food that tasted this strong and unappetizing. And to make matters worse, the management and staff really don't seem to care. The service is terrible. And, when you bring matters to the attention of management they have a very non-caring attitude. I am not sure why I gave them a third chance, but I did. But never again! read more

this review is only for the gelato here. i think they need a better storage system for the gelato because it was looking kinda melty and sad when i got there. I got chocolate covered espresso bean gelato. the taste was pretty good and i loved that there were actual chocolate covered espresso beans inside, but hated that it was already half melted by the time i got it so i felt like i had to scarf if down my face so that i wouldnt just have liquid gelato. read more

I've been in Jacksonville the last couple days. Tried the Stromboli and gelato. Had to go back next day. Had lasagna and cannoli. This was my last evening, pizza, with anchovies and terimisu. We had a mother's day brunch here prior to hitting the beach. Anti-Pasto was good. Son loved the pizza, service was SLOOOOOOW and parking was difficult as to be expected on Atlantic Beach. If were down there again, I'd stop in but I wouldn't make a trip out there just for Joseph's. read more

Joseph's Pizza has always been my families go to place for great food! The environment is warm and inviting and the customer service is unparalleled! For out of towners visiting the Atlantic Beach area, Joseph's Pizza is the place to go! My boyfriend and I got 2 different pizzas and both were amazing! We had Courtney as our server and she had us laughing the whole time! The pizza is made fresh so be prepared to wait 20 minutes but it's worth it! Besides being hilarious, Courtney was courteous and stayed on top of refilling our drinks (which I know can be a problem at some restaurants l). The food here is absolutely fantastic and the staff is super friendly! Had the chicken Marsala and it was the best Marsala I have had. My blue cheese dressing was made in house and the feta was fresh and crumbly. The salad was super fresh and the garlic knots were perfection. I was even able to drink killer whale cream ale here which is my favorite local brew. They also apparently have great beer specials during the week. Great place for the family too. Struggling to find a replacement for Nero's. We stopped into Joseph's at the beach. I just really wanted to get a good old school hand made pizza, something messy and traditional. After looking around at what the other customers were eating I decided to switch gears and do some old school pasta! I ordered lasagna. My wife got a medium vegetarian pizza, my son did a create your own pasta, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. If you like garlic- you are home here. They use quite a bit in just about everything. It was good. The Alfredo was pretty ok. My wife's pizza was garlic overload- I couldn't eat more than one piece. My lasagna was a whole different story- beefy tomato sauce, ricotta and garlic bread. It was a classic private restaurant old fashion presentation in a boat broiled and hot. It really hit the spot! Very good sauce lots of chunky tomatoes and onions. Reminded me of many places I've been to in New Jersey growing up. Straight out of the seventies or eighties- a refreshing throwback. Most Italian is either over priced minimalist or generic corporate portion and presentation. That's what I wanted, that's what they delivered. The dining room is small and generic- it's a storefront what can you really do with that? The parking like everywhere at the beaches is annoying and awful. The service was good, on point. The prices are a little high for the ambiance but inline with the market rates for the type of food. I'd go back. I'd probably try the 18 inch cheese pizza. read more

Joseph's is a local staple in Atlantic Beach. It's nice to have an italian alternative to Al's, but I definitely think Joseph's shines in areas outside of pizza. Pizza is a tricky thing, because everyone kind of likes a different style. I don't really like the pizza here...the crust is too thick and crispy for my liking (I prefer Al's). I've been for brunch a couple times and it's so-so. The bottomless mimosas taste like they are made with Sunny D, and to me, the breakfast choices here seem to be more about quantity than quality. There are some unique offerings, though, like the breakfast pizzas. Sitting outside is definitely preferable, because it's located in a good spot. The tables fill up fast, though. I usually come to Joseph's for some other Italian dishes like pasta. They have a wonderful aiola pasta, which is just olive oil and garlic. Their rosa sauce is also delicious on linguine. If you have had the pizza here and aren't crazy about it, I'd recommend returning and ordering a different dish. read more
