Pancakes, good crispy bacon and an overcooked scrambled egg he wouldn't touch. I had iced tea, and the turkey grilled sour dough sandwich with Ortega chile and jack cheese. It was delicious. Came by for lunch after visiting the Warbird museum. The diner was located at the small Paso Robles airport. We could see private planes from where we were seated. I had a burger with fries and my husband had a patty melt. Food was typical diner fare and we enjoyed it. Nice service and we'd go again if visiting Paso Robles. read more

BEST LOCAL BREAKFAST JOINT IN PASO!!!! I hate to even leave this review as I enjoy my secret little breakfast spot but I'm all about supporting local! The food here is simple and straightforward. Don't come here looking for some brioche French toast with muddled berries on top. No... this is just basic goodness. If you're looking for fancy, go downtown and pay $20plus for a half portion plate dressed with fig frawns. The secret here imho is the ranchera sauce. You need to order some up with your eggs, breakfast burrito, or whatever else you'd put salsa on. Its insane!!! So yummy there's even a story about it on the back of the menu. The place is always very clean and inviting. The servers are kind and work hard to keep the patrons happy. Kids love to watch the planes come and go as you enjoy your food too. So this place is at the Paso Robles Airport and when you enter it has a very open space with high ceilings with a big window showing private planes on the tarmac. The restaurant is to the left of the building. I will say that upon entering the restaurant it appears to be a bit tight. They have bar sitting to the left and dine in to the right. We got seated right away and gotten our drink orders immediately. We ordered a couple of things: Tuna melt sandwich (3/5)- the tuna melt was so salty. That's pretty much all I can remember from this sandwich. Hamburger with Bacon- I mean it's like any other burger. Tri-tip sandwich with chili soup (5/5)- this is the second time my aunt has ordered this email and she said it is really good. Veggie omelette (5/5)- Another good meal. I gave them a 4 star cause the tuna sandwich was extremely salty and I love salty food and plus our server kept on forgetting that we ask her for water or a refill and another server would have to tend to our table. My first experience was a meh experience (chorizo breakfast burrito) with standard fare, but the second -- well, I see what all the hubbub is about. * I like the efficient and responsive service * I like the menu from all walks of life With fare prices, I got a Denver omelet with home potatoes. The omelet had pieces of really good ham, and all the fixin's. The home potatoes were made fresh, but could have used onions and peppers or some seasoning -- they were just toasted up and crisp (good with some needed ketchup). Fantastic diner hidden out in Paso at the airport. Classic dishes. Would recommend coming for breakfast. The wait is sometimes long, especially for large groups, but that tells you how popular it is. After a morning of wine tasting in Paso Robles, I wanted a good, hearty lunch. Came across this place online and had a feeling it would be exactly what I was hoping. We arrived to the Paso Robles airport and easily found Joe's One-Niner Diner. We walked in and it was exactly as anticipated; full of locals and very home-y. We sat next to the window which gave amazing views of this tiny airport on a beautiful sunny day. Everything on the menu sounded great. I went with the chicken-fried steak, which the server (who was sooo sweet!) assured me would be a great choice. My fiance ordered the tri-tip sandwich. After enjoying the view for a few minutes, our food arrived. My chicken fried steak was topped with a beautiful amount of gravy, just as I'd hoped. It came with a hefty serving of hash brown, eggs (I got scrambled), and an english muffin. First, I dug into the hash brown. Omg, best hash brown I've ever had!! They were super hot, cooked perfectly, and has a thin crispy layer on top. Next, the eggs, solid. I finally started my chicken-fried steak which was perfection. The gravy was tasty and the steak was perfectly crispy on the outside with just the right amount of tender meat inside. Amazing! My fiance also loved his tri-tip sandwich. Breaks my heart to give a 2. The service was so so sweet; our server was lovely and all the other workers there were nice too. My boyfriend and I both got the chicken fried steak with hash browns; I don't eat eggs, so I got fruit instead, and he got poached eggs. The steak was good and the gravy was nice. My fruit was kind of old, honestly, the pineapples were browning. However, the reason for the 2 stars - within 10 minutes of leaving, my boyfriend had a violent reaction to the food, leading us to assume that there was bacteria or something in the eggs since that was the only thing that he had that I did not, which lead to food poisoning. In our years of dating I've honestly never seen him have anywhere close to this, and he is still a bit sick today. We won't be going back, it just isn't worth it, which sucks as this is close to home for us. read more

What a great surprise! I am a pilot and I flew into Paso Robles looking forward to eating at this resturant. It's right on the airport so if you are a pilot you walk right off transit parking to the place! For non aviation people, it's a PERFECT place to watch views of the planes taking off and landing. Food : I got the tri tip Chilla Quiles and my dad made his own omelette. IT WAS VERY DELICIOUS. We were in Paso for a quick stay to visit the light display at Sensorio, have dinner and visit a winery. Our ABNB referred us to Joe's for brunch. I was a bit skeptical because it's literally inside the PR Airport (airport food--meh!) but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a locals' hangout with a really great "diner" vibe. Menu is extensive. Everything you want on a brunch menu. We had the biscuit (HUGE) and gravy with an egg and a sausage patty and a side of hash browns. So delicious. The browns were totally golden and crispy, the biscuit fluffy and tasty, egg cooked perfectly, gravy OMG. We also had the Huevos Rancheros. Also excellent; perhaps a wee bit spicy for my taste but not a problem. Coffee was hot and kept being refilled and the mugs were so cute. Service was attentive, efficient and friendly. Definitely a "must visit" spot in Paso Robles! read more

A COVID safety warning... On a recent trip to Paso Robles, we stopped in for breakfast at Joe's One-Niner Diner. While I am very, very understanding of the impact that running a business safely during COVID can have (slower service, less reservation availability, etc.), the inverse was happening here...you'd think there was no such thing as COVID stepping into this restaurant! Dining tables in the restaurant itself were close together, even for normal times, and absolutely not at a safe distance from one another. Very, very few of the guests waiting to be seated (including those in the airport lobby, which is how you enter the restaurant) were wearing masks, nor respecting a safe distance as they passed by us or each other. At least half of the staff had their noses out of their masks or were using sheer scarves as a nod at best to the health requirements. Worst of all, the expediter, who was literally breathing on every dish coming out of the kitchen at the face-height counter between the kitchen and service staff, wasn't wearing a mask at all! When I saw a police officer step in, I thought there was a chance folks would change their behavior, but on the contrary; he took his mask *off* when he stepped into the restaurant and went up to a table of friends, where he chatted away for at least 15 minutes, leaving without his mask on as well. We are super purposeful about supporting local businesses wherever we are, but this one is simply unsafe and not somewhere I'll ever go back. read more

Great, out of way little diner located in the Paso Robles Airport. Nice patio for grabbing a bite while watching the planes. Menu is standard diner fare with both breakfast and lunch available until 2 PM. We kept it simple today with just bacon, eggs and hash browns. Eggs were cooked perfectly (big plus for me, I'm an egg snob) and the bacon is thick, meaty and not too greasy. Since it's Thursday morning I can't gauge how hard it is to get a table but there is a nice counter to sit at it the tables are full. Prices are reasonable and you wont go home hungry. Still the BEST turkey Rueben in town!!! And really one of my all time faves!! Love everything about this place and the staff is soooo nice!! This cute spot is EVERYTHING you have to come to LOVE about Joe's only more compact and it comes with entertainment! How cool is that you can have your breakfast while all the planes come and go. And these are not huge 747's the planes here are Cesna's and the like, so little private planes! Now on to the food. Because that's what you really want to know about. It's the same Joe's menu as the Paso location, the same wonderful friendly kitchen and wait staff as you have come to appreciate and it's delicious!! We had the chorizo and eggs, which comes with hash browns, tortillas and beans. Which is enough food for two! Then I had the eggs Benedict which they sub the Canadian bacon with turkey for me. The diner is inside the small airport. Friendly and quick service. I think the area itself doesn't require masks so the diner itself was pretty relaxed in that regard. If you are hardcore masker, I'd say maybe find another place. All 3 of us enjoyed the food very much and appreciated the pleasant servers. read more
