99 Degrees Roll, Salmon Poke Taco, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Pork Bowl
    Jessica K.

I went all in with ordering from Jounetsu. Although everything I ate was good, I can't say I was really wowed by any of the items I got. The tonkotsu ramen was good but I prefer a richer broth and it just kind of missed the mark for me. The 99 degree roll was good and worth ordering. The pork bowl was okay, the pork just wasn't tender like the pork that is served in the ramen. The salmon poke tacos were the highlight here.

I've come here a handful of times. Me and my daughter enjoy the food here it's really deliciousness. We've had the ramen, appetizers and rolls all very deliciousness. Staff is welcoming and polite. There's a patio that's nice to sit at. Depending the time of day. I do recommend

I am a returning customer because my wife and I loved the food and experience the first time. This time I stopped by to only get the coconut matcha drink and before placing the order I had asked for extra matcha. The employee agreed to add extra matcha on top and so I proceeded to order 2 of the coconut matcha instead of just 1 for myself. When I was given the order, there was a thin layer of matcha and I was told that they are running out of matcha. First of all it is only 5:30pm and they close at 9:00pm how can they serve customers just coconut water with a few splashes of matcha .. Secondly, even if that was the case that they are running out of matcha, it should have been brought up to my attention and I would have only ordered 1 for myself. If I wanted coconut water, I would have gone to the store and gotten it for $5 or less and not spend $13 on 2 coconut water drinks. How disappointing. Looking for parking here is terrible too.

My favorite ramen spot! The space inside is a bit small but cozy! The service is pretty good and polite. The food is the best! I ate their tonkotsu option and i thought it was so delicious! I also felt that the price was better for the amount and quality compared to other places. The amount of ramen was substantial and the chashu and egg were delicious.

It was a dark and stormy night.... Finally a cold moment to come to probably the best ramen spot in all of Long Beach and enjoy a terrific bowl of spicy miso broth with plenty of noodles, chicken meat and everything else. The spice level was actually perfect. I was also surprised that I didn't feel full after having consumed every single drop. My partner and I enjoyed the gyoza while she partook the crispy shrimp appetizer. The help looked after our needs for water and brought out food swiftly. It's a small place but we got a table pretty fast. They have outdoor seating with heaters pointing in the right spots. Parking was a small challenge but manageable. I'm happy to have made it out and experience great food.

Broth was good, my pork was a little overcooked, and the sesame chicken was crisped nice but didn't have enough batter for me. The noodles were a bit too thin for my tastes, resembling angel hair noodles to me. It was a good place to go eat though!

This place was surprisingly empty and the service was attentive and fast. The food taste like it's made with so much attention and love. The ramen had such an umami flavor that paired perfectly the the spice.

Ordered spicy tonkatsu ramen, crispy rice with spicy tuna, pokemon roll, and 99 degree roll. A big fan of the crispy rice because the rice was both soft and crispy but not a big fan of the pokemon roll. The poke on top could've used a little bit more pizzazz as it tasted like it was only tossed on soy sauce. Service was slow but ok as food did take a little long to arrive. I did however like the intimate setting of being able to see into the kitchen and watch the process of food being made.

I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen ($18) You can choose your level of spicy 1-5 5 being the spiciest i chose 4 and it wasnt bad i love spicy so i think a 5 would've done it for me. You also choose your meat i picked pork belly. My friend ordered the spicy miso ramen with a level 1 pork belly. I love how small and modern it was inside very stylish w a painting on their wall. The only con is that you have to find street parking Other than that the food was great good quality ingredients and staff was friendly and prompt i highly recommend! Obey parking laws on the street

My first time trying this local spot, got takeout and the quality was there. The spicy tonkatsu was delicious, the noodles are thin style but cooked well. Very solid bowl

This is a nice Thai owned Japanese restaurant with very friendly service and delicious appetizers and ramen lineup. Parking is tricky as you will have to hunt for a street parking spot hopefully nearby. I was able to snag one right across the street but nearly got mugged and got hit by a car just to get to the entrance. The shrimp appetizer was something worth revisiting just for that. It was THAT good. The ramen was also delicious. The dining space has indoor and outdoor choices. The 2-seater table we got assigned was uncomfortable to sit in. Hardly any elbow rooms and nowhere to put the bag down or even phone / sunglasses. People walks right behind you constantly making it sorta awkward to chomp down on food. What I found really off putting was the wafting of marijuana smoke the entire time we were eating. I guess the dude next to us couldn't give two shits about lighting up a bowl. I hate the stench and so did my dining companion. Appalling to me that the restaurant staff didn't say or do anything about it. Giving it a 3 out of 5 here -- it's a shame the food was otherwise delicious and the service friendly and prompt. But having to secondhand smoke someone's weed and nearly getting mugged and ran over by a car was a wee too much for me.

The food is definitely amazing. That's what makes you want to eat there. However, the service is horrible. Not only do they lack kind gestures. They seemingly only want to be kind to people they feel fit the demographic that are deserving of their kindness. I don't want to blatantly feel like I'm being racially profiled but it's every time that me and my partner come it feels this way. Love your food but you need to love your Mexicans .

Best spot for ramen, but they have all kinds of goodies. I recommend the Spicy Tankotsu Ramen, ask for well done pork!

Ask the Community - Jounetsu Ramen

Is it big enough to seat a large group for dinner?

Depending on how large the party is, place is pretty small so a party of 6-8 is crowded enough in my opinion

What time is happy hour start & end?

    4:29pm - 7:00pm (Except weekend and holidays)

Where is the best place to park?

Street parking or one of the limited public parking lots. There is not much parking on 4th street, so you may need to park a few blocks away and walk to the restaurant.

Are they currently open for dine in like on the patio? (I called and it said that their box was full)

We are open for dine in this Friday. Lunch 11:30am - 2:30pm Dinner 4:00pm - 9:00pm

Does your broth contain pork products?

You can get veggie, chicken, or Tonkatsu (pork)

Does Jounetsu have rice noodle ramen or gluten free options?

Sorry we don't have gluten free Noodle.

    Any gluten free options?

Yes, there are sushi options with rice that are gluten free!

How do they deliver the ramens? Like is the noodle inside the soup?

Take out tonight had a container for broth and another for ramen

Open already! I want some ramen! Any idea when you'll be open?

Currently doing a soft opening... but it gets busy :)

    When is opening day?

Not sure but it is open now!! Come check it out

I asked her to check with her manager, she came back 5 minutes later and stated her Manager does not know the answer as well. I find that quite odd Hmmmm .. Overall the food quality is great. The negative things on my visit are. 1. It was warm inside the restaurant which made it uncomfortable. 2. Only one small restroom 3. Prices are a tad on the expensive side. $19 to $20 a bowl. 4. I believe management was not being honest regarding my question about being a Michellin Star rated restaurant. How are you in management and dont know the status of your own restaurant? Honesty is the best policy. Good thing, food was good and everyone was friendly. Overall, i would come back because the food is good and the place does not get crowded.

We had the moo package which is primarily beef. There were various appetizers to try and the package was more than enough for 5 of us. Ambiance is pretty relaxed, you get your usuals or people new to KBBQ. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, happy to explain anything so you don't have to be a KBBQ pro to dine here. The service is good, better when it's busier since they check in more frequently. When it's slower you may have less check-in's from the staff, probably due to less staff during slower hours. There IS parking in the rear but the spaces can be kind of tight so finding parking truly depends on the time of day you go. Overall, I am never disappointed here and I recently brought someone here who wasn't a fan of KBBQ and this experience won him over. I even got promised to be brought back again!
