While visiting the area, I visited Joya for a spa day. I wasn't sure how I'd like the style/decor based on images. However, the Moroccan theme turned out to be more visually appealing than I'd imagined. There were plenty of spa amenities I was able to enjoy after my treatment--my favorites being easy access to the fitness center, the terrace pool and the whisper room, where I was able to take a lovely nap in. Service was wonderful from check in to check out. The reason for my 4 stars is that for the price of my massage, I'd expect more. I've paid less across the country and out of the country and gotten more. The therapist was great, but the massage was 120 minutes and when I flipped over on the table (face up), I expected the massage to include legs and it did not. That was quite disappointing to have half of my body left out of the massage. When I was face down there was some time spent on my lower half, but even still, very little. Ultimately, I expect a full body massage at the price point and if it's not going to be, it needs to be stated on the services menu. read more

This is a beautiful and relaxing spa! The theme is Moroccan with flowing drapes, candles, soft couches, crystals and amulets. Every spa service allows you access to multiple spa amenities, the most unique being the spine alignment steam room with special seating to accomplish that. My massage therapist was Ashley, who has been in her profession for 18+ years and you can tell. She worked every muscle to perfection. My only regret is that I didn't go for 90 minutes-chose 60. This will be my new special treat whenever I can do it. Pricey, but there is an AZ resident discount and they have specials often. read more

Ever since I moved to this area, I had heard of Montelucia/ Joya spa at the Omni hotel and resort, and wanted to go. I made a mental note months before my birthday that on the weekend of my birthday, I wanted to treat myself to a spa day. I'm not one to treat myself outside of my birthday or another special occasion, so I really had to plan it well. I left my house around 8 AM, I live in Queen Creek, so it took almost an hour to get there. My first treatment was a customized, Joya massage at 9 AM. I had Chris, he was lovely. Because it was customized, it was a lot of rubbing oil. I don't mind that, plus I really needed the relaxation. I told him it was his birthday and he added complimentary, hot stones, which ended up being my favorite part of it. He was great. Then I had my 10 AM facial with Celina. I loved it. It wasn't really that relaxing, because we hit it off and we're talking the whole time, but she educated me so well about my skin, she gave me so many tips on skin care routines, she had lived in LA for a long time, just like I had, so we ended up talking about all the places where she used to work, etc. I loved her. She also got me a $35 birthday coupon to any product that I wanted which I ended up getting a $40 product for five dollars. That was another birthday promotion. I also got 20% off as an Arizona local. One of my family members got me a $150 gift certificate for my birthday, so when all said and done, I got my massage, my facial, and products for $300. I would definitely recommend, doing your research, looking at their website. They have rotating specials, especially if you can go during the week and not the weekend, the prices are lower. The amenities are spectacular, as you would imagine. As soon as you walk in, they have a beautiful crystal, and they direct you where to go from the crystal. It's kind of cool. The crystal changes colors, I put my hands on it, and made a wish! You got your own locker, robe, and sandals. You can use all of the amenities. They have a beautiful relaxation room that has canopy beds. It's a quiet room. I believe they call it the whisper room. I laid in there a little bit after my treatments and it was very relaxing. They also have something called a social room, each for the females and males. It's really a waiting room for going into your Treatment. They also have nice, spa infused water, as well as snacks while you're waiting. They have bathrooms, showers, and locker room area with plenty of amenities. I took a nice long, shower there and washed my hair. They also have some thing called the Hamaan ritual. You start in the Hamaan, relaxation room. Then you go to the steam room, then, the cold plunge, then the hot tub/whirl pool. Then the sauna, then you end up in the Hamaan meditation room once again. You do this rotation for as many times. I did it twice. It's very relaxing, it's great for your, body, mind, and soul. As well as alternating between the hot and cold is great for your circulation, digestive, stress levels, and metabolism. If you have a treatment, you get free parking, whether it be valet or self parking. You also get to enjoy all of the three pools. They have a pool that's within the spa overlooking the Camelback Mountain, which is gorgeous. However, that was my one thing that I had an issue with. My plan was to go there, relax, order off of the menu, and have may be a drink and some food. However, there were a bunch of chairs that looked empty, but people put their hats or whatever on there, so there was really nowhere to sit. There was no one working up there. No menus, no one serving you anything. It was just really busy and kind of a mess. I didn't end up staying too long, but it was a pretty rooftop pool. I ended up going to the main pool, ordering from Centro. A delicious salmon, salad, protein bowl. Less than $30, took 10 minutes, I stopped by the pool, ate and then left. Overall, my time there was highly enjoyable. It is a beautiful resort, a, magnificent spa, and I want to treat my husband for our anniversary and September. They have a lot of packages for a couples. Had a great experience here. We came in for a couples massage. Arrived early to use the spa facilities. On the mens side the facilities were nice but unfortunately the steam room was unavailable. The sauna was working well. The spa has a Moroccan theme. We didn't use the terrace with the pool which I believe is available exclusively for spa guests but it looked nice with a great view of the mountains and plenty of chairs. All of the space staff provided excellent customer service and treated us to truly relaxing experience. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful day spent at the Joya Spa. We had lunch by the pool with beautiful views of Canelback Mountain and the frozen mangos were very refreshing. Followed by an 80 minute deep tissue massage... it was a perfect day. Although, they have raised the prices considerably. I was shocked my massage after tip was around $400 plus. Also I my therapist asked me what flavor oils I preferred like any other place and asked if I would like to add cbd. I said yes and picked the lavender. I had no idea that would tack on an extra $50 and they added a "suggested" $75 tip! I thought that was a bit outrageous but all in all it's a beautiful spa and a great place to relax. read more

This used to be one my favorite spas and places to go and spoil myself. However yesterday, we went as a group to celebrate my cousins wedding and the experience and customer service was just awful. From being told on the phone that there were no day passes and the cheapest way to go is to get a blowout for ($54 with the membership discount). Then onsite as my cousin was getting her hair done, they told her $80. However, online it says $70.. and then when we went pay, they charged us $90. I asked the manager why such a difference between what's posted online and what you're charging me.. and he said it's up to the stylist to determine the price. Really not cool. The cherry on top, one of the cousins got a pedicure, with a technician who would not stop coughing to the point she was crying.. she was then charged $30 (without being made aware prior) to take off her gel polish and then the lady said she didn't have time to put gel polish back on.. and if she wanted to use the amenities she would have to do the fast dry.. (another $20). Really sucks that I would not recommend this spa nor will I be going back. The locker attendant was rude and took forever to even find her. read more

Let me start by saying the spa grounds and facility are beautiful. While the amenities are nice, I believe it is overpriced. $200+ for a service. $90 for a day pass. Coming from NY, where everything is over the top, you do not get nearly as much for your money here. I've been here a few times, and unfortunately my last service at the salon was disappointing. The lady who did my pedicure started late, did a mediocre job and was actually unable to do the French pedicure that I wanted. I'm art massage experiences are average at best. I did some research at spa prices and Joya had some of the best deals. The spa is gorgeous when you get inside, the massages we received (side by side couples massage, which not every location could accommodate) was absolutely wonderful, and the pool area with food and drinks had the most beautiful view of Camelback Mountains. Get a good seat with an umbrella though - that sun hits down on you hard and people really lounge for a while so the seats get filled up fast. The drinks are a bit watered down so get friendly with the staff so they can recommend the best options. The amenities were great as well. Absolutely wonderful saunas, whirlpool, relaxation rooms, etc. to try out so definitely make a whole day of it especially for what you spend. read more

The women's area has a sauna which looks new. Also there's a steam room and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi is not really deep. Outside it's a coed swimming pool with a view of camelback mountain. There is a waiter that comes and checks on you and you can order drinks and etc. thru them. The massage was nice. I love the table because it bends. It hurts for my leg to stay straight and she raised my legs up and my head up when I was on my back so she can massage my arms and legs as well. The spa itself is super pretty, and the amenities are really nice. My boyfriend purchased massages for my best friend and I to have a spa day. She enjoyed hers but sadly my massage wasn't the best experience. My massage therapist talked the entire hour, which is kind of the opposite of relaxing. To be fair, I didn't ask her to stop... but I'm not sure how to politely ask someone not to talk? It felt rude. But hard when you plan something and pay $450 (two massages with tip, holiday deal price) and feel like you didn't get your moneys worth. I'm never sure whether I want to spend money on a massage to begin with, so my boyfriend planned it for us... and it makes me regret it no matter how nice the amenities are. It's hard to justify $225 on a non-relaxing massage, some hot tea, a sauna, and sitting by a pool. Came in for a birthday treat for myself. Booked a prenatal massage as well as a pedicure. Margaret was so amazing during the massage. She was gentle when needed and as an added bonus so easy to talk to. Eve handled my pedicure and I can honestly say it was the best pedicure I've had. The zero gravity chairs were life changing. It is quite expensive - so if you have some money set aside to treat yourself - or you are a baller, rolling in the dough, and money isn't an issue - come enjoy their spa services and amenities for some self-care. I live in the area but this is the kind of place you come and feel like you are living the rich, fabulous life and on a royal vacation. I have had the privilege of coming here twice. The first time I came with my sister who treated me for my birthday/pregnancy spa day. After that experience, I absolutely had to come back with my husband and have him experience it - so we splurged and came for our anniversary. I wish I was balling out of control so I could here more often! When you purchase any spa service, you get to enjoy all of their spa amenities. When you first walk in, your guide gives you a brief tour and history of the spa. You also get to select a stone and set an intention for the day at their giant crystal. Single gender areas include: locker room, sauna, steam room, cold deluge, and waiting rooms with fruit and beverages. Co-ed areas including: gym, terrace pool, and the whisper room. The whisper room is a co-ed indoor space in the spa with beds, sheer curtains, lanterns and other Moroccan decor where you can lay and relax. I wish they had a co-ed sauna and hot tub but the whisper room is super unique for a spa in and of itself! My spa package with my husband included a lunch on the pool terrace and we were able to select any two entrees. The food was delicious! The terrace pool is small but wasn't crowded either time. Additionally, I believe it is salt water and so it makes your skin feel so soft! I could spend an entire day laying out at the pool - the best part is the view of Camelback Mountain. It is breathtaking to swim in a pool and lay out on a terrace while overlooking mountains. The spa services themselves were good. Not the best I've ever had in life but still nice. The rooms are decorated Moroccan-style so very bohemian - I love them. There is an up-charge for aromatherapy to be added to your services, which I disagree with since the spa services themselves are so pricey. Why not include them?! But I guess you are paying for the spa's amenities in that cost. I really enjoyed my day at Joya spa. I couldn't get in for a massage but was able to book a facial one day in advance. I highly recommend you make reservations a week ahead if you plan to be here for the weekend. They were very busy! I was luckily able to book a facial for 9am on a Saturday and spent 7 hours at the facility! They have a rooftop pool and serve food/ drinks. It gets quite full so try to grab a good seat with an umbrella early. I was staying at the resort and they allowed me to leave for lunch and come back which was very convenient. The women's locker room is very nice and I used everything including the sauna, steam room, and whirl pool. I also snuck in a nap in the whisper room- beds are firm. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth it! I'd love to come back and enjoy with my significant other. They offer co-ed services and lounge area. read more

My hubby and I went here for an afternoon to celebrate our honeymoon. We had the day pass to access the spa facilities. It was a very nice ambiance, but there were some flies at the rooftop pool, which was annoying, but not enough to make the experience not enjoyable! Anyways, we found a nice spot by the rooftop pool and enjoyed the view. Rested under the umbrella and swam in the water a bit. We didn't order food there, but many people did. We actually had our own food, but they said we couldn't eat outside food at the spa so we had to go outside eat it and come back in. Which is understandable, but was a little annoying that we couldn't eat our own snacks there!! Locker rooms were nice, but my favorite section was the couples relaxation room. We rarely get to enjoy facilities together so it was nice to finally have a room that we could relax in without having to pay extra for a treatment. They have showers, a whirlpool, a cold plunge shower, a steam room, a sauna, and showers. You also get a robe, slippers, and a locker plus there are nuts and fruits you can eat for free in the locker rooms! Would recommend a stop here if you are in the area. I think a day pass costs $75 if you don't have treatment scheduled and $35 if you do. But honestly...I can't remember!!! read more

I've been to many spas and this is one of my favorites for all of the amenities-- they have a warm room, sauna, steam, whirlpool, and cold deluge in a beautiful room as well as a pool looking at the mountains and a whisper room (aka dreamy little adult nap room-- a moms dream) The Moroccan theme is so well done and there's a lot of beautiful stuff to look at in every single room, including the hallways! One of my services was the Vitamin C facial and I 10/10 recommend this! Not only was it super relaxing, my skin looks incredible after the service. Best facial I've ever had. The food at the Joya Terrace (poolside) is very tasty too and reasonably priced. Loved the sweet potato tots and bowl! They were both absolutely delicious. Sadly, the massages are not something I'd pay for again. Especially for the price. Both my best friend and I agreed that our therapists moved quickly and frantically the entire time-- it wasn't restful because they hurried throughout the whole service, including throwing blankets back and forth as they rotated around your body. I was shocked that this was the standard for such a nice and luxurious spa! Hands down one of the worst massages I've ever had. My advice-- get a facial in the morning and enjoy the amenities all day! Or simply purchase a spa day pass to enjoy the amenities all day without buying a service. I received a White tea & ginger body experience, which was alright. It felt extremely overpriced for what I received. They advertise a body massage & warm stone foot massage to go with the service (which was the selling point for me, as I work on my feet a lot) and instead I received a lackadaisical foot rub by hand that lasted all but 30 seconds, and the shoulder rub was equally as disappointing. The masseuse was nice, but did chat a lot which I felt distracted from the service. The only upside was the pool access & cocktails. Eli was our waiter and he was extremely kind. I was pretty disappointed considering the service was well over $300 with gratuity and I didn't receive what was advertised. Unfortunately won't return. read more

When you spend $245 for a 50 minute and $350 for a 90 minute massage, it should be spectacular! And to be handed a bill that suggests 20% is inappropriate. It's really DIRTY including the pebbles and quartz that EVERYONE TOUCHES like a tourist attraction. The products are marked up. And the POOR QUALITY of services is AWFUL. You want to hear SOME DRAMA? Okay sure..here we go: I left my facial with a horrible skin IRRITATION and BURNING REACTION. Oh, and the annoying echo of my amateur aesthetician's RANT & LECTURE ringing in my ears. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I have gotten so many facials over the years and I have NEVER EVER had a reaction. But then..that's because only PROFESSIONALS who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING should touch your face. After calling several resorts and speaking with the Joya receptionist I found it a big RED FLAG that my aesthetician had NO IDEA WHAT I WAS HERE FOR. It's crazy that all the notes from my reassuring phone conversations when amiss. My facial was terrible. TERRIBLE. When you come here you are truly JUST A NUMBER. The lady never asked what skin regimen or products I use. She never asked what I was looking for today or if I want something special. She just GESTURED TO SETTLE IN AND JUST STARTED POKING MY FACE. She was so ROUGH and RUSHED. When I started to speak up about what I was here for she started to RANT and LECTURE and go ON and ON about being careful when you schedule your last facial before your wedding. I'm in from out of town on business & had a day off, so looked for a spa to get a massage. The services were wonderful & therapist very professional. The support staff was lacking greatly. I was told someone would meet me by the entry with the huge crystal. No one met me to tour me as promised. Made my way to the lockers & the young lady assigned me a locker that would not close properly, I could fit 2 fingers & pull the door. I requested a different locker and she replied that's the way they all closed. Just not wanting to be bothered. After the massage I tried to ask where the robes & slippers went, but she was too busy talking to coworkers about how things were getting stolen/how things have not been repaired, all where guests could hear. Went to checkout. They asked how the services were & I said good, but management might want to know some things. I told them but there really was no sincere interest. Been frequenting the Joya Spa for many years- such a gorgeous location. Recently visited and the amenities were not up to prior cleanliness standards and the massage therapist was unprofessional. I spoke to the front desk (Jenna F and MS) and they apologized and extended two day passes to make the experience right. I wanted to redeem the day passes today, spoke to Chris at the front desk, and was told I would be unable to redeem the day passes. No other solutions were offered nor could I speak to a supervisor to rectify the situation. Frustrated this is the way Joya Spa treats a local and repeating customer. The staff were all incredibly friendly and kind. I would absolutely recommend this spa if you're looking for an awesome experience. A group of us visited the spa last month for various treatments and enjoyed lunch and cocktails at the rooftop pool. I had a massage and others had manis or pedis. The treatments were all high quality and so relaxing. The decor is stunning and puts your mind into a state of total relaxation and peacefulness. The rooftop pool is awesome! Arrive one hour prior to your treatment so you can take advantage of the Hamman Ritual. There iis no sign in the main sitting area, so start in the room with the mosaic tile. There is more information in this room. You are suppose to have a black soap cleansing but no one mentions it. The staff is great and i did get a good massage. It can get really noisy here, and the food was average at best. Overall, this spa is nothing special. I was expecting more from all the hype about spas in this area. I understand that the staff may get busy with their guest (I totally get that) but there should be someone dedicated to the phones, who can answer and provide assistance. The spa itself was beyond gorgeous and peaceful. All the staff was very welcoming and accommodating and the amenities were top notch. Enjoying the steam room, sauna, whirlpool, cold shower, warm room, and nap room makes it the perfect spot for a girls day. My massage therapist Ashley was beyond knowledgeable and gave a great balance of muscle work and relaxation. She was well trained and passionate about what she did. The only downside to our spa experience was the terrace pool, specifically the waitress Lola. We were seated over 30 minutes and attempted to make eye contact multiple times which she would immediately look away despite serving people next to us. We finally had to walk up to her and ask about ordering food and drinks to which we got a very rude response about how she needed to clean up prior to waiting on any new guest. I get it was a weekend and the place was busy but also she's at this point had 40 minutes to at least let us know she'd be by and she has just intentionally avoided contact. Drinks took very long to come out and we never saw her again. Trying to get the credit card back and close out was next to impossible. After finally having to wait by the kitchen door she brought out a copy of the receipt to sign but it wasn't itemized or have any details on it other than the final charge and signature line. I assume this was so she could get double tipped as I assume gratuity was already included despite the receipt having a tip line. I tried to wait around to ask or get an itemized copy but she never resurfaced from the inside. I get serving is not an easy gig but to avoid all your customers for that long is uncalled for. Her performance unfortunately negatively reflects the spa and the other staff despite them working so hard to create a positive memorable experience. If I return to the spa I definitely will not go to the Terrance pool based on the experience Lola created. It's unfortunate one person can put a negative ending on what otherwise was an incredible experience. In short definitely go to the spa but skip the terrace pool if Lola is serving. read more

For the most part I did enjoy my experience. But there were some annoyances. I had my massage at 11, so I got there 30 minutes early as stated in the email to have time to park and get changed. My massage was done well. The key is to communicate with your masseuse and let them know what works for you so they accommodated what I wanted and the male masseuse was respectful and attentive. I told him what areas to be more firmer (shoulders) and what areas to be less firm pressing. It was overall relaxing. I then had all day to play in the amenities. Because it was midday, the balcony pool was full and I did not see very many beds available. Luckily I did escape to the main pool with no issue and spent my time there. There has to be reservations for those beds. Another thing that was irritating was that girls would leave their belongings on the beds and go inside for hours, making it unavailable for others. It really wasn't fair for others waiting to lay and spend time by the pool, who couldn't because someone's purse or shoes were staking the bed. It was just really poor manners. At the other pool, I ordered a hamburger and sweet potato tots for lunch and it was really good. The burger was tasty as were the drinks. The male server on the balcony, was really great and super attentive and professional. A real gem of an employee. His customer service was amazing. I enjoyed the rest of my day back up at the balcony pool as the crowd dwindled but another really annoying thing was kicking us out before 7 due to an event below. If I had come late in the day I would be pissed. But because I was there for a few hours at that point, it didnt affect me as much. But still, for the price you pay, you should be there at the time it closes. But because of the event they grabbed all pool employees to work the event. They had the front desk worker come out and tell us we had to leave in 30 minutes. Some girls had just gotten there and were upset. It was just really unprofessional. With this spa, you do enjoy the look of it and uniqueness of it, and if you're lucky, you don't get a too crowded balcony pool. But do expect some glitches. It really is hit or miss. read more

Booked a spa day with three friends at 10 a.m. Paid for 80 minute massages and looked forward to lunch and relaxation by the pool for the afternoon. At end of services, no chairs available at spa pool. Told us to use the general hotel pool - full of kids, no view and NOT relaxing. Not acceptable when you pay for a "spa day"! Had to leave spa and hotel and go elsewhere for lunch. Spa was clearly oversold. One friend's massage was in a hotel room with a king bed next to the table! No wonder the pool deck was full. Some rooms didn't have music, one masseuse spent 12 minutes showing stretches, and generally service didn't live up. Manager simply said he appreciated all feedback when we complained. Yep, that's it! (And on a related note, the staff allowed us to place our books on lounge chairs before our massages and when we returned 90 minutes later, our things were just thrown in a pile on a random table! Pros: clean and beautiful amenities, access to everything including rooftop pool, dry sauna, wet sauna, jacuzzi, cold deluge, etc. Cons: the 80 min massage was terrible, no pressure, and a lot of upselling the whole time. It made the experience not relaxing. I paid over $600 and should have received a more premium experience. I am a bit of a spa snob since I've been to so many and expected more from this place. Booked this as a relaxation treat during my third trimester! The pedicure was awesome! However, upon arrival to the spa there was a crabby/not happy patron. She was apparently upset because she was asked to sign two receipts. This might be feedback for the spa, but also it was off-putting for the start of my treat. Lots of color choices, etc. The other weird thing was that the automatic gratuity was 22%. I thought 20 was standard and I would have gladly considered more but thought it was interesting in case other first timers find that helpful to know. Had a wonderful experience at the Joya Spa. I got a signature pedicure and my fiancé got the gentleman's pedicure. The gravity chairs for the pedicures was a very unique experience. Staff was also friendly and helpful throughout the entire day. I recommend getting to the spa as soon as it opens to grab a seat with a nice view. We went on a Saturday and seats started filling up around 12. Highly recommended the chicken tinga tacos for lunch. read more
