    Fried Game Hen

Had me at Happy Hour @joyce_dtla What a lovely place for happy hour! Really great southern food! Service was wonderful and loved that it was dog friendly with an outdoor patio. Crystal and Ricardo were both great with delicious recommendations and lovely personalities that enhanced our overall experience! Our dog even got a dog treat and a water bowl . Happy hour menu was satisfying! We loved everything we ordered except the fried hen was slightly salty that day, but it happens. The skin had good seasoning and loved that it was light! The broiled oysters came with toast and this satisfying gravy sauce that reminder me of French onion soup! They had the best hush puppies I have tried. The Mac and Cheese was solid. My drank was very well made! Would recommend!

I've had Joyce on my list for sometime now and I finally made it down there this week and let me tell you, this is now one of my favorite restaurants in the city now!! Everything was amazing. Just incredible!

SOUL FOOD - I came to Joyce on a whim when I visiting LA and it was truly a cute find in DTLA!! It's right by a Whole Foods so there is free parking nearby !! I sat by the bar and had some shrimp and collard greens and a drink ! Everything tasted good just smaller portions !! They service was good . There were other patrons ! It was a cute vibe and look forward to coming back soon .

This place was super cute. It's a great date or special occasion spot! The service was fantastic, and we felt very well taken care of. Here's what we ordered and loved: - Raw Bar: Peruvian Scallops were delicious; Colossal Shrimp were good but not truly "Colossal" - Nashville hot fried catfish - best choice we made! so good. - Edisto Island Cornbread - MUST TRY and hear me out ... add a dash of the green hot sauce. You're welcome! Mocktails - "Smoke and Mirrors" was super refreshing and "Gussied up" tasted like an espresso martini! Now, if you grew up eating soul food, like me, I do have some notes. - the Sunday Greens are just ok. They needed a little more seasoning unfortunately even after we tried adding a little salt. - seafood gumbo - similar to the greens, there was some flavor missing there unfortunately. Might give the greens another try, but think I'd try another dish over the gumbo next time. They still get 5 from me and I will definitely be back to try this one again!!

Brilliant interior design and great collab with showcasing artist live weekly showcasing. However, despite the witty menu, the food was lackluster. Attended this eatery for the live showcase, great atmosphere but the service wasn't spectacular. Not attentive and the food was something I could've made better at home. The best thing I ate was the cornbread, everything else including the drinks was bland. Needs a new chef and serving staff. The host was the best service the entire event. I'd probably return just for the corn bread and the n/a beer only. Would not recommend the food unless you're hungry. Toilet is located next to kitchen. All in all, I like the inclusion and atmosphere.

I've visited Joyce several times, but I was a bit surprised to see how long it's been, since I really liked the place. I invariably combine my visits here with a staycation in the area, and that was the case this time also. So I came for dinner and lunch on consecutive days. Joyce serves a seafood-forward coastal Southern menu. Its proprietors are Prince and Athena Riley and is named after Prince's mother. The original chef was Sammy Monsour from North Carolina, who I met in the past. The current chef (whose name I didn't catch) comes from Post and Beam, a now-closed soul food restaurant. The menu is largely the same as I remember, although the prawn and oyster perloo I enjoyed in the past is no longer offered. However, it was nice to see shrimp and grits, a fave go-to of mine, on the dinner menu as well as the brunch menu. I'd say both the lunch and dinner menus are more extensive. For dinner, I ordered the crab claw dip salad and the shrimp and grits. The dip was very nice and refreshing, topped with celery leaves and served with Joyce's signature cajun-fried saltines. The shrimp and grits were also great. I did notice the menu listed a fish veloute as an ingredient; this used to be a lobster veloute. I ordered the beignets for dessert. These were better than I remembered. Before, they were called pate au choux beignets and were on the heavy side, dense. Now they are much airier. They come witch dulce de leche and raspberry dipping sauces, I asked only for the raspberry, and it was nicely tart. There are more non-alcoholic beverage options now. My Olivia Spritz, a non-alcoholic Aperol spritz, was quite nice. My lunch order was a shrimp cocktail and the Nashville hot fried catfish plate. the shrimp cocktail is priced per shrimp and comes with a chunky creole cocktail sauce. Delish, doesn't have the horseradish kick of a usual cocktail sauce. The fried catfish I've had before on the dinner menu, where it's served with fried dill pickles and red remoulade. At lunch, you get non-fried pickles, a slaw and a side of fries or a salad, plus the remoulade. I asked the server if the serving size of fish is the same and he said yes, yet the lunch price is $1 less. I noticed, however, that I was charged the dinner price. Regardless, the fish was hot temperature-wise but not really spicy hot, which I wasn't upset about. The corneal crust was light. They used to have a banana custard pie, now they have a banana pudding that was very nice. Service was fine, although I must say they seemed short-staffed for both meals. I came at opening hours (11:30 am and 5:00 pm), and at lunch there was one woman who was prepping the restaurant, then became the hostess, then donned an apron and became the server and bartender. She handles the situation quite well but I was glad I came early. At dinner, the hostess turned out to be someone from HR. There was one server, and he too was experienced and fine. Overall still a fine place for Southern food. I'd like to do their brunch menu again someday.

    Açaí bowl at breakfast

I've been to Bottega Louie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and dinner was definitely the standout for me. Breakfast was alright, but the espresso tonic was easily my favorite part. Dinner was great overall. The carbonara was good, but a little too rich and heavy for my taste--more of a personal preference than a knock on the dish itself. My only real gripe with the space is the acoustics. It gets very loud and echoey, which can make it a bit overwhelming when it's busy. Otherwise, I've had a good experience there.

Cornbread 9/10, delicious I just thought the butter was salted heavily.

Our first time here and I fear we messed up by coming for lunch service. I really wanted to try the shrimp and grits. The drinks were good. The Mac n cheese is the best thing we tried. Skip the catfish or just ask for it without the "Nashville hot" element, it wasn't reminiscent at all.

Delicious eats. I forgot to take a picture of the Mac & Cheese and the Rotisserie Hen.

My husband and I went for an early dinner and we loved the food. We were greeted by a friendly host who sat us down right away. We were given a carafe of water and limes while we looked at the menu. We ordered a lot of dishes to share and take home. Everything was seriously delicious. The cornbread is a must! The reason I knock it down 1 starts is because everything is pricey for the portion size.

always a nice experience at Joyce especially during happy hour! we came on a weekday evening and it was very quiet which was a plus. i loved the $10 margaritas, you can't go wrong with the price & surprisingly they were still strong! we accidentally dropped a drink but shoutout to Ares who was super nice enough to replace it! she made our whole experience so much better and we left very LIT.

    Nashville Hot Fried Catfish Plate
    Tricia ..

I recently visited Joyce DTLA with my family and, unfortunately, left disappointed. I'll start with the cornbread. It had good flavor, but it was very thin, and the whipped butter/cream served on the side was extremely salty, which took away from the overall taste. I'd rate it a 6/10. The menu is also very limited. The main dishes were the gumbo, the "60-hour marinated" Veef short ribs (assuming that's not a typo), the Nashville hot fried catfish, and the Submerged Snapper. The Nashville hot fried catfish was the biggest disappointment. Based on photos I'd seen, I expected it to come with fries and regular pickles. Instead, mine came with only a few very thin fried pickles. The fish itself wasn't fried crispy--it was soft and gooey inside, had a strong fishy taste, and wasn't flaky. The Nashville hot seasoning wasn't spicy at all. I'd give it a 2/10. I ordered a side of mac & cheese, which was decent but nothing memorable--about 6/10. Someone in our party ordered the snapper, and the presentation was shocking. The fish was submerged in what looked like several inches of dark broth or liquid. It honestly reminded me of The LA River, and I've never seen snapper served that way. It looked so unappetizing that I had no desire to taste it, so I can't comment on the flavor. The service was just okay. Our server was polite, but nearly every request or question was met with "no," to the point that we started jokingly answering for him ourselves. They also serve water in very tiny glasses, which was a little odd. The décor is nice, but overall I'd rate my experience 3/10. Sadly, I won't be returning. There are several other Southern-style restaurants I'd choose before coming back to Joyce DTLA.

    Short rib

Are here for the first time. Really loved the food service and the vibe. Came on a Friday night and was a great place for a date. I had short rib. My chick had duck confit and ceviche appetizer. All of the food was really good. Crystal our server was really sweet and accommodated our rushed schedule. Highly recommend this place

And my niece ordered a pineapple drink Which she loved. The complimentary cornbread could've used a lot more seasoning. But my food was yummy. The catfish was soft and I could taste the mealiness grit of the cornmeal. The Black Eyed Peas were flavorful as were the greens. The dressing aka stuffing was forgettable but I'm a Stovetop fan tbh. I am going to return to try their liver, but I think that's made only once a week. The price was average. I actually called over the phone maybe three times to ask questions and the staff was extremely professional and polite. The level of authenticity can be felt the moment you walk in. Every patron of the restaurant can be seen expressively enjoying their food. All the food is insanely filling so prepare to take home leftovers. * Beef Links 10/10: A massive, spicy beef sausage on top of a soft & fresh slice of white bread. It can't get any better. It stayed hot throughout my meal & was appreciated so much. That is f***g good. * Cornbread muffins 10/10: DELICIOUSLY served as an appetizer before your meal comes out. Comes fresh & hot with a side of sweet/cinnamon butter. It's perfect. * 8 Pc Wings 10/10: Seriously the best wings I've ever had in my life. Soul food restaurants know exactly how to coat the wings so that they become insanely crispy when fried. That aside, the Hot Honey seasoning was especially flavorful & mouthwatering. *Mac n Cheese 9/10: This is my style Mac. Not too ooey-gooey wet but just a perfect amount of cheese & roux. One point off because it has a smokey taste which just isn't my preference. * Candied Yams 11/10: MY GAWWWD. I'm in heaven. My friend told me he likes drinking it with Hennessy, so l we had to test that theory afterward. I can confirm it was a good combo. The restaurant itself had a nice, relaxed ambiance and I really enjoyed the food. My only issue was the wait, it was way longer than expected, and I'm still not really sure what caused it. Unfortunately, that was enough for me to knock off a star. Still, the food itself was worth trying, especially if you're craving some comforting soul food. I'd come back, hopefully with a shorter wait next time. 8/10

I needed a calming outdoors Patio to decompress after a long Labor Day at work so I decided to pop into Georgias and try their Southern Salmon which I have being itching to Tango with as a Foodie for a Hot Minute ;0) Carlos was my first point of Contact and he was so great and welcoming me back with spirited enthusiasm and reassuring me that he would be with me shortly after I told him I wanted to sit outside on the Patio! I was able to easily browse the Georgia's Menu online and all the gorgeously tantalizing Photography was so helpful in assisting me to choose my dinner and appetizers for the evening! I started off with a small cup of Jambalaya and told Carlos I wanted to try the Southern Salmon for Dinner which is served with a delicious honey glaze and their Signature House Mashed potatoes! Carlos affirmed that the Southern Salmon was an excellent choice and one of his personal favorites and happily informed me Georgia's was serving Strawberry Sangria for the Season so I added a glass along with my Hot Lemon Tea for the evening ;0) Carlos made sure to get my Cornbread and Hot Tea started for me right away and courteously offered to pace my appetizer and entree the way I liked to fully enjoy every bite! I also appreciated how Carlos helped talk me through a difficult situation I was stressing out with and gave reasonable high value feedback on the most stylishly entertaining way ;0) Carlos adds such a Luxurious Leadership Finesse to the Georgia's Team Roster along with Evan!! I appreciate them both so much for really going out of their way to help me comfortable, at ease, and thoroughly nourished with Great Friendship every time I drop in. Josiah delivered my food and offered me my To Go boxes and I really appreciated his genuinely kind and uplifting Hospitality too! Thank you Josiah for reminding us that the warm and fun conversations we get to have with our Community is the best parts of our jobs and I look forward to trying the Blackened Catfish that Josiah recommended for my next visit! Laura the Cook also added a lot of colorful and riquisima hospitality to my experiencing by laughing and conversing with me in Spanish Fuego while she was eating outside beside me on her break :0) The Eastvale Georgia's Team is so incredible when it comes to maintaining highly refined Consistency in both food and Service! Thank you for taking the time to hire high quality Brand Ambassadors who really care about giving us lots of reasons to come back and decompress in the best Southern Cuisine Escape in town!

Georgia's Soul Food Restaurant - Eastvale, California…read more Georgia's isn't the best soul food I've had, but it's certainly not the worst. Overall, I'd describe it as average. I gave it 4 stars because the service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the food was served properly and presented well. Those details matter and contributed positively to the experience. That said, the food itself didn't quite measure up to the soul food restaurants I've enjoyed in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Soul food is a competitive niche, and there are some outstanding establishments in Southern California that set a very high standard. If you're in the area and craving soul food, Georgia's is a decent option, but I wouldn't consider it a destination restaurant.
