The pot stickers, according to my husband were very good. I'm not an onion lover and these had green and white onions in them. There was no sauce to dip them in so he used the soy sauce that was on table. The garlic green beans were delicious. There was plenty to share. I could taste the garlic and a little something sweet. Perfectly cooked. The popcorn chicken was different. They had a slight heat to them. Kinda dry but not dry. Hard to describe. And again, nothing to dip them in. We're saucy people. First and foremost the portions are big! It was just my mom and I. We definitely over ordered, but everything is absolutely delicious! It came out pretty fast as well. My favorite was the scallion pancake, it was flakey and perfectly oniony. The egg drop soup was so comforting as well, it has tomato in it which was odd to me but it wasn't bad. My family is really happy they found Joyee. In the Target shopping center, there is plenty of parking to be had. They have great food. We have tried a variety of dishes, including: *Wonton in Spicy Oil: This is my favorite dish. Lots of spicy flavorful goodness in a soup like concoction filled with wontons. It is about medium spicy, which means that everyone in my group can take the heat. *Chicken Wings: Excellent wings. Tasty with the right amount of spices mixed it. Just a tad oily, but still very tasty. *Shrimp & Pork Shumai: Love shumai, and Joyee does not disappoint. These are tasty, and since I am the only one that does shrimp I get to have the entire order. Love the food and service is typically quick and friendly. There is plenty of seating within the restaurant and have always found a table for our 6+ group. There menu's are also nice and big with pictures that show you what you are getting. Makes it that much easier to order. Ok, since my first visit I introduced my office to Joyee and we've been back 3x since and ordered a ton of food. Nikki has been an amazing server each time we've been in. Not every dish is 5 stars, but the overall experience is for me. Great house tea. You do need to order rice bowls in addition to your dishes. We can usually split a bowl between 2 of us. On our last trip we had: Cucumber salad - huge portion and very refreshing Seafood Wonton soup - again a huge portion (plenty for 4 of us to share) with a good amount of wontons and veggies Mapo tofu - asked for it mild and it was, but still felt the ma La tingling Bamboo and shredded pork - good but not my favorite Scallion pancake - total winner, crispy and delicious Dumplings - I think we had shrimp and pork this time. I get everyone has bad days but out of all my times eating here and taking food to go I have never had such bad service as I did today. The lady who was upfront working the counter today should not be up there if her bad attitude is going to be directed towards customers. On top of being told to not call to place an order and to do it online instead she then only gave me one hot sauce and one soy sauce for an order of chow mein, beef broccoli, and white rice. She informed me that they do not give those condiments out unless I was purchasing dumplings. That has never been the case before and it wasn't that way last week when I placed the exact to go order and got plenty of those condiments when I asked. Came here on a week day around 3pm so I can't really speak on how busy this place gets cause it was unsurprisingly empty at this time. I originally felt like the food was kinda pricey but quickly changed my tune when it arrived to the table and I saw how huge the portions are. We got the pork XLB, pork pot stickers, scallion pancakes, eggplant entree, and fish balls. Everything tasted amaaaaazing but my favorite by far is the eggplant. The sauce is addicting. The flavor of the XLB is good, but the wrapper was a bit too thick and didn't hold together on some. Hand down, best place for a quick and delicious meal. Almost every dish on the menu can be shared with three people. Got here right before 7 PM. All the tables were filled but the wait was not long, maybe less than 10 minutes. As soon as you order, the dishes will start to come out one by one. I would say this dine place is very authentic, all the plates taste as it should be. However the walnut shrimp was on the sweet side and their chili oil wasn't spicy at all. The beef chow fun noodles were super soft with lots of beef. The half order duck was cooked to perfection with the right amount sweet and saltiness to it. You can taste the smokiness from the wok on the fried rice. Overall, I recommend! Very simple and clean decor inside. They also have the perfect togo boxes that separates your food. The chicken was very tender and juicy, and the mapo tofu had just the right amount of spice and flavor! It was perfect. So happy to have found this place and definitely plan to order from here often. We ordered a pork and green onion steamed bun and a scallion pancake to go, grabbing them as snacks before our trip to Legoland. Unfortunately, we didn't take any photos because the moment we walked into the restaurant, it gave us a bad impression. The waitress, knowing we had ordered to go, told us to wait on the side. Not to mention that we had a young child who cannot sit still for long, especially when hungry. So, we decided to wait outside in their outdoor area. However, the waitress noticed it, came out, and informed us that if we sat there, they would have to charge a service fee or something similar. It felt like they were asking for a service fee or tips, but there was no actual service provided. If this is a policy for the restaurant, at the very least, the staff should deliver such messages to customers in a better manner. That was our first bad experience there. We still wanted to give the food a try because we believe everything has its good and bad. Unfortunately, the food was not impressive either--it was greasy and oily. I wouldn't order the shumai again, but the soup dumplings are worth a reorder. They were the right thickness so they didn't fall apart when you picked them up with your chopsticks and soup spoon. But if you order the soup dumplings, make sure to eat them while they're hot, as they become a little gelatinous when they cool down and not so appetizing. The other items were pretty standard, but nothing too special about them. However, it had a pleasant savory umami scallion flavor, something that some restaurants lack (like in Michigan, which is I know, an arbitrary comparison, but still). The Spicy Crispy Chicken was too salty and garlicky and did not have enough chili oil. This dish typically has a lot of toastiness from enough chili oil that pairs well with the slight sweetness of the dish. The scallion flavor here was good, though. My fiancé and I were very excited to try this place as we loveeeee dumplings. We sat down and immediately saw the automatic 15% "service charge" that goes with all dine in orders. I have never ever seen a service charge that was more than 5% at most. We thought this was pretty ridiculous because we had not tasted the food before or experienced the quality of the service. As soon as we said actually we are gonna get a takeout order, the cashier and the servers demeanor changed. They probably realized we saw the fee. Besides a ridiculous service charge, the quality of the food was nowhere near what I was hoping for. We did have a takeout order but we still thought the quality could have been immensely improved. The soup dumplings were all stuck together making all the soup fall out of the dumpling. The chicken was mediocre and the wontons lacked flavor. We got a few other items but nothing of note. Spacious seating, lots of food options, but bummed the flat rice noodles didn't make it in for one of the items I looked forward to. I'm elated that Joyee decided to expand to North County! We have limited options for good Chinese food in NCSD so as soon as they opened, hubby and I went to try it out. Nice layout and a good amount of seating. The condiment tray is on each table. Only wish they had the Chinese yellow mustard, but chili oil did the trick too. We tried 5 different dishes. My faves were the cucumber salad, shrimp/pork shumai and surprisingly the chow mein. The chow mein noodle was thicker than I had expected (like a skinny udon noodle) but the flavor was there and tasted good. The XLB is okay, I would rate it the same as Kung Fu noodles in Vista. And BBQ buns were good. I like the menu here as they have quite a few dishes I will want to try in the future. Also, for people that love chicken feet, it's on the menu! My dad loves this dish so I'll get it to go in the future and update if yay or nay. The price per portion is fantastic deal. We left satisfied and had a lot of leftovers for lunch the next day. I was curious what "soup dumplings" were after watching a show called "DEAR Edward" so I search where I can get some and Joyee dumpling house popped up so we decided to try it out. I am soo happy we did. This spot is amazing! Inside ambiance is super cool, welcoming. Service is so professional, quick, and personable, you can tell they want you to feel at home and not rushed to eat. This place is very popular!!
