Takeout review only. First time to try JP since moving to the area. The outside doesn't look great (but has good reviews), so I decided to just do takeout. Order was ready in about 20 minutes. The inside is bright, clean and open with mainly booths and tables along the wall. I'll probably dine in next visit because it seemed like a nice, casual and welcoming vibe inside. The food was fantastic. We ordered the pineapple fried rice ($19) that comes with chicken, shrimp, pineapple, peanuts, and a few veggies. It also contained raisins, which I'm not a fan of in savory dishes, but it was so good, I forgot about picking them out. We had the chicken tom kha soup ($16) that was so fragrant and flavorful. Delicious and nicely balanced flavors from the lemon grass and coconut milk. I got the pad thai with shrimp ($17). So good. Not too sweet and the chili I added to it was a perfect complement. The portions were big, making it a great value with plenty of leftovers. I've found my new neighborhood Thai place! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

JP Thai is my go to Thai place because of their authentic Thai flavors and that they're close to home. We're always greeted by a friendly smile each time we're there and the service is great. We're checked in during and after our meal. The food dishes are packed with that sweet and savory flavors and so good, no matter what you order. But during lunch time my go to are: phad Thai and the phad kee mao. Something about the wide noodles, I just can't get enough of. The portions are perfect or I sometimes take it to go. You'll have to stop by and check it out for yourself.

Great flavors, great service, and ambiance! Went here for lunch meet up with my pal, Mike H...and we had a perfect afternoon lunch. The beef larb salad was #3 of 4 level spicy and it was quite tasty yet had a kick that wasnt overly over the too hot...just a good kick to compliment the lovely flavors or the larb dish. The Pad See Ew was also good. The stuffed chicken was good, too! Perfect spot for a relaxing lunch

Revisited recently to dine in, and as always, left happy. The portion sizes and quality of food is just so good. We got Angel wings, pad Thai, drunken noodles, and avocado green curry. The Angel wings were hot and stuffed, pad Thai incredibly flavorful, avocado green curry was tasty with lots of avocado and drunken noodles not too spicy. I do think I prefer pad see ew over drunken noodles solely because there is more flavor in the pad see ew, but was still content. We chatted with Pramrika (sp?) a worker/owner?? and she was telling us that they make three of the sauces and jalapeños in house! We loved the jalapeños so much we ordered a small container and finished it in a few days lol. Next time we come back we will order the larger container.

I've been going to JP Thai for some time now. Food is consistently good. Have tried a variety of dishes and they all smack. Service is super friendly and kind. Always greeted with a smile. Patient and attentive. Can't say enough about the ladies that serve. They have Thailand inspired decor, and 2 TVs playing food shows featuring Thai cuisine. Everyone I've come here with enjoy's their meal.

Came here for dinner with little brother . This place has plenty of parking , inside the restaurant is a bit dim and dark. We order the golden bag, chicken green avacado curry and seafood combo Thai basil with fried eggs. The staff here is friendly and quick with our drinks . Appetizer came out quick and hot. The golden bag was nothing special , you definitely have to put the dipping sauce , it brings out the flavor . chicken green avacado curry was interesting and taste like a surprise playground in your mouth , but not in good way. My favorite was the seafood combo Thai basil with fried eggs. This one was the most savory , the fish was delicious and there was Only 2 prawns and 2 mussel . I wished it had more mussels. . I took the rest of my leftover vegetables and cook salmon and place it on top of the veggies. It was much better The service was excellent

Came here for dinner on friday around 6-6:30. It was pretty empty but some other parties came and they had a gooood amount of to go orders. I got the beef rad na. All the food came out in like 10-15 minutes. Overall most of the food was pretty good. I think the proportion for mine was pretty good, maybe because of the gravy tho? The drunken noodles looked pretty small compared to other dishes and was pretty oily. I also tried the prawn silver noodles, came with 5 big shrimps and was pretty good. We also got the mango sticky rice. It was reallll small or smaller than i expected lol but pretty good. Condense milk was diff? More watery or liquidy than normal condensed milk i think but still good. Overall pretty good, pricing not too bad and service is good, they r very friendly and nice.

I've visited JP Thai twice now and have really enjoyed it. I came first with a friend and then returned with my husband for lunch. Both times we were greeted so warmly. My favorite items are definitely the basil Thai fried rice and the drunken noodles - the "wok hay" (taste of the wok / aromatic stir fry flavor) is soo good and is the main reason I want to keep coming back. The red curry and Thai iced teas were also good but not standouts compared to the other items. The restaurant interior is nicely decorated with some videos of Thai food playing on the TV. The service is wonderful and both times I visited, there were a few other tables occupied with a steady stream of takeout orders being picked up. I plan to visit many more times in the near future!

My client took me to lunch here today. I got the Thai Eggplant with tofu. It was delicious! Our server was really nice. The level of spice was perfect for me. The decor is aged and a little kitschy, but my client told me it used to be a pizza place - that explains some of the light fixtures! It's a solid 4-stars for sure currently. I'm going to take my husband back and try a couple more dishes to see if they warrant 5!

Eh. Ordered a few items and everything seemed to be old. The drunken noodles and fried rice shared the same exact sauce (I'm sure) and too much of it, should I say. They just doused it on and called it a day. One of the dish that I ordered was salty and bitter at the same time. Eck! The decor is cute and despite the outside appearance, inside was fairly clean. Who knows, I probably just came at a bad time but this is my honest review. Also, I'd like to add that while dining here, the TV station was set to Travel Channel, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and dude was eating raw cow testicles and some other gross food. JP Thai is one of the best Thai food restaurants I have had the pleasure to visit in Sacramento (frequently). I think ithe price is incredibly reasonable. Love the food here! My usual order is pad Thai (with added eggplant, very delicious), drunken noodles (with added eggplant, yes we love eggplant ), chicken satay, and silver noodle salad. Their food always impresses me and the staff is nice and welcoming!! I have never had a complaint about this restaurant, 5 star service/food always! read more

This is the best Thai food I've had in a long time! My family and I had the angel wings, chicken avocado green curry, rad nah, and seafood delight. All were very good, but a word of caution- if you ask for mild, it may still be a bit spicy. It wasn't so spicy I couldn't eat it, but I hope it doesn't aggravate my acid reflux later. Kudos to them though for the food still having good flavor AND being a little spicy. I've eaten at plenty at Thai places that are good at making their food spicy, but forget to make it flavorful, which is one of my pet peeves. Service was also really good and they serve your cold drinks with the straw paper shaped into a rose. I definitely will return here the next time I come back to Sac! read more

My service was great and most of the food good. Pad Thai was great, papaya salad tasty but really soggy but the wings weren't up to par. They were dry and overly sauced so I couldn't eat them unfortunately. read more

Saw this place on Yelp ads while I was looking for a nearby Thai spot. Pleasantly surprised by the elaborate interior decor. Ornate wood paneling in the ROUND restaurant and Thai murals with colorful chandeliers on the ceiling. The service was very pleasant and the Tom Kha hit the spot. It's kind of in a deserted area across from the Municipal airport but it's a worthy eating spot if you're in the area. Would come back again to try more of their food. read more

10/10 would highly recommend. This was my second time ordering from JP Thai. Ordering online was easy & they had my food ready to go on time. I ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken, Pad See Ew, and an Iced Tea. In addition to being delicious, the portion sizes are generous. Upon arrival for pickup, the hostess greeted me warmly, remembered the details of my order to ensure that everything was correct, & thanked me for ordering from the restaurant. I was sad because I thought there were no good Thai places in Sac, so it was such a relief fo find. This place is better than the watered down restaurants in downtown. I love JP because they are KIND and welcoming and their food is BOMB. Im vegetarian and I always get the cashew nut lunch special Their thai eggplant dish is delish as well. I've brought multiple people here and they all love it too. Pro tip: get their lunch special for a decent portion at a good price. read more

It's a nice, small restaurant with friendly servers and good food with portions that aren't too much or too little. LOVE!!!!... their drunken noodles. It's because of their drunken noodles that I try it at other Thai places and nothing has come close. read more

Love love love this place! The food, people, and atmosphere are so authentic. I have had several different items and loved everyone of them! We were in Thailand last year and the people were beyond friendly; the staff and the atmosphere at JP Thai make me feel like I'm back on vacation! They also carry Chang, an amazing beer that's hard to find! The neighborhood is a little odd, but the restaurant is well worth the trip! read more

We had a very unfortunate experience that hopefully won't cause any health issues. We ordered garlic shrimp and they gave us way undercooked shrimp (please see pics included). Pretty much raw shrimp. I had to spit mine out while dining. My wife ate some of hers. Not happy at all with this experience especially when it can be harmful now or later down the road in regards to parasites. We told the waitress and she offered to bring it back and have it cooked some more. We said no and pretty much our appetite was gone and fear of getting sick took place. read more

My God sister introduced me to this place... It was delicious. The pineapple rice... Omgoodness... Sweet and savory There were a couple of other dishes she got as well, not sure of the name s one had veggies with a peanut sauce. I don't really like peanut butter but after eating that I pulled the jar out of the cabinet and went to town... There was also a green curry soup that was so creamy with a nice level of to it. I am allergic to a lot of food... This was definitely worth the risk. I can't wait to try other items. Oh and she was a little late getting there because of my cripple self and they waited. The food and service at JP Thai Kitchen is great! Nice sized portions and yummy curry dishes. They have lunch specials (or at least they did prior to COVID) that give you a generous amount of food. I have gotten food to-go since the pandemic. Great quality and the server is always super sweet and polite. And...rice is included with their curry. Great place if your near the Executive Airport. read more

The service was great and the server was really nice. The prices were decent. I ordered the boat noodle. I have a high tolerance for salt so the broth was ok for me but for people who don't eat as much salt or like to add condiments into the broth, it can be salty. The portion was on the smaller side. My husband had the curry noodle and it was on the bland side. Definitely not kao poon. read more

My friends and I had dinner at JP Thai Kitchen last Friday and we were really impressed! It was quiet for a Friday night. The lighting was a bit dim but it was relaxing. Our server was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often. I ordered my usual when I eat Thai food - Drunken Noodles with chicken and eggplant. This is the best drunken noodles out of all the Thai restaurants I've visited! Spicy, full of flavor, and the noodles were made just right. The prices here are a little above average. I don't mind though because the food was really delicious. read more

Wow! I got the pad Thai with no meat vegetarian style. Delicious!! I was not expecting it to taste this great. I'm happily surprised. My carnivorous husband is happy with his two. Overall, I'm so happy we decided to get our dinner here! Perfect for vegetarians and meat eaters alike! Plus when I called in the order the lady was so kind and sweet. Her customer service made me feel at ease when ordering on he phone as she read everything back to me so I knew my order was accurate. read more

JP Thai was always a good local Thai option, but they seem to have stepped up their game amid Covid. The food is consistently delicious, unlike some other spots in town that are hit or miss. We enjoy all of their vegetarian options, but especially their pad Thai and drunken noodles. Yum!! read more

A hidden gem in So. Sacramento. Why their parking lot isn't full is beyond me. The service and food was very very good. Appetizers Chicken Satay and Shrimp, plus Crying Tiger makes your taste buds tingle just right. Glad hubby and I decided to try this place on a whim. Restaurant was very clean, tables nicely spaced to provide some private conversation. Music soothing and decor makes you feel like you are somewhere exotic. We will definitely be regulars here. read more

When I came here last night for dinner I was amazed by the service! The waiters are very chatty and always serve you with a smile. The food comes out in about 10-15 minutes. My favorites have been the pad thai, yellow curry, papaya salad, and an eggplant dish (that I cannot remember the name of). I would definitely recommend the papaya salad. It's bright, sour flavors really pair well with all the saucy dishes. My papaya salad was a level one spice which was the perfect for my low spice tolerance but it can range from 1-4. Every dish I've tried are all extremely flavorful and great to eat with plenty of rice. To drink, I had a thai tea which was so sweet and delicious and quickly refilled after I chugged it down! To finish off, I had the sticky rice which was the perfect end to my meal. I will definitely eat here again. Highly recommend! read more

Wonderful pork drunken noodles, pad thai, and curries. Probably my favorite Thai restaurant in Sacramento. JP Thai also makes what I consider the best chicken satay and peanut sauce in town. Also try the golden bags, they are addictive! read more

I drove by this place all the time so decided to go here for lunch on Saturday. It's slow as usual. As we walked in, there wasn't any customer. The smell was odd as well as the music. The place is dark and uncomfortable. Not sure why but I got bad headache as soon as I walked in. The flood wasn't as clean as expected. As we sat down, I spotted two plates were dirty. I really think if they can change out the lighting, more customers will come. Food was good but in small portion which is normal for Thai food. Anyway, wish them well but I am not consider going bad. read more

They have pickled mustard greens, pickled long beans, bamboo shoots, roasted soy bean, roasted peanuts, scallions, cilantro, and hot sauces. - A1 Guilin Rice Noodle: the noodle was very soft (but a bit too soft for me). The meat pieces were tender and good. The crackling pork pieces were super crispy and gave a nice texture to the dish. - A10 Braised Pork Dry Tossed Noodle: the curly noodle was firmer type than A1 and had a bit of chew (which was similar to instant noodle) and I prefer this. The braised pork was flavorful and delicious! - B11 Preserved Duck Egg with Tofu: the tofu was soft and was a good combo with the preserved duck egg. The egg itself didn't have very strong taste so it was very pleasant. The spicy sauce was mild for me but the overall dish was good. - C1 Old Gui Lin Boba Milk Tea (less sugar): good and milky. We also had some dumplings such as Hargow , it was not good , looks and tasted like the ones i buy from the freezer at an Asian grocery store. The edges were dry and hard it seems like it's put in the microwave. I did asked the young lady if the hargow were microwave , she stated it was steamed . She did offer to bring us something else to replace. We opted for the korean mondu , it's at least soft and comes out warm . I honestly wouldn't come back when I am in the area again. I can't see myself spending $ for low quality dumplings.

Every dish we ordered was delicious and the food was not overly salty. When we asked for to go boxes they packed up our food for us instead of us doing it ourselves. The service was attentive. They did forget to bring water for us one time. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to this place again to try more of their dishes!

We love love love and deeply miss going to jp thai kitchen. The food is incredible, the flavors are spot on. The portions are great, the owners and staff are so friendly, we felt like family going there. The problem is we moved a state away. The Thai restaurant in our town doesn't understand flavor, not authentic, not like JP Thai. So go ahead, tell them Jason sent you and he says hello. Make sure you order the pumpkin curry, the tom yum soup, the basil chicken, garlic and black pepper beef, and of course the pad Thai. You will not be sorry. You will be crying tears of joy for the most flavorful Thai food in the states. I cannot wait for a trip back to Sac just to eat at JP THAI KITCHEN!!! read more

Basil fried rice and drunken noodle are my favorite dishes. Their curry is a little bit lighter than other Thai places but its still pretty good. They also have items that aren't common at thai restaurants such a sweet and sour dish. I ordered it thinking it would be battered and deep fried chicken stir fried with vegetables pineapple and a sweet and sour sauce. It was not. Still pretty tasty. Seating area is very nice and clean.
