My god daughter and I went out for Thai food tonight....both of us hungry and not wanting to travel far, we decided on Erawan. To be fair, I have to say that I have not eaten there before. She likes spicy food, and I don't but I know that restaurants will adjust the heat level based on the customer's request. I ordered Drunken Noodles with crab, and she ordered Sweet and Sour with Chicken. We split an appetizer of fried wonton stuffed with chicken and shrimp. The food was beautifully presented. The fried wonton was without seasoning of any kind and was as bland as could be. Both of our dishes were inedible. Again, they lacked seasoning and the crab in my dish was clearly not fresh...possibly canned. Her chicken was rubbery and the only thing that saved her was the fact that the jasmine rice was tasty. We left at least three-quarters of our food on the platter, finished our beverages and left. I will not return. That was $36 wasted. read more

Had an excellent experience tonight! Customer service was very tentative and the food was delicious! I ordered pad Thai chicken and spicy tofu for an appetizer! Me and my husband eat Thai food pretty frequently and this is by far favorite spot! To be 100% honest I wouldn't say this is the best Thai I've ever had but it's pretty dang close and what keeps us coming is the women that help us! I ordered 3 dishes last night to go, spicy chicken wings, deep fried whole fish and boat noodle. We had the wings and fish for dinner last night we were a little disappointed as the sauce was to sweet, that's with ordering Thai spice level 4. The fish and wings had the same sauce. Tonight I prepared the boat noodle for my husband and whoever knows him, knows he is a noodle soup person, and if he can't finish a bowl of noodle soup that's saying a lot. Our first time here for lunch. We've been trying to find awesome curry in Sac and have been unsuccessful for almost a year now. This place has delicious curry! Thick, delicious, perfect curry sauces. They have the best Tom Ka Gai soup I've had in Sacramento. The service was fast and they didn't shoo us out after we had finished our meal. They can make dishes gluten free to accommodate your celiac disease. I was so happy they knew what gluten was! It's a really good homestyle Thai restaurant and it's good for large groups. On Saturday, 6/2/18 our group of ten was seated comfortably about 4:30 pm. I was impressed with my order of papaya salad prepared Lao style. My husband enjoyed his fried shrimp with steamed white rice and papaya salad but not the chicken satay because of the turmeric seasoning. Oh...where to begin? First of all, the name change? That was a bit confusing. What happened to Erawan? At least our WAZE app seemed to know about the change and directed us to JP's. But, we sat in the lot for a few minutes trying to figure out if we were at the right place because we had looked it up beforehand and the online menu listed plenty of options for my fussy vegan husband. Sure enough, the menus inside said "Erawan" - so we were relieved that we were at the right place. However, it was an entirely different menu from the online menu and said nothing about vegan options. When my husband, Mr. Vegan, asked about vegan options the waitress had no idea what he was talking about. Another waitress came out and explained that their" canned curry sauce" has fish sauce. CANNED???? Ugh! I don't go to restaurants to eat canned sauces that I can heat up myself at home. Apparently, when they serve vegan meals they use a canned mushroom sauce (Ugh x 2), but they were out. They recommended my husband order the one dish on their special menu, but later came out and said that it wasn't vegan, either. Then moments later a different waiter, who apparently didn't get the memo, brings it to our table. Then, when we point out that it's not vegan - they eventually take the dish away. By that time, we wanted to leave, but we had some papaya salad, which was pretty good. Finally, they stir fried some veggies and added a peanut sauce, which was their dipping sauce, the kind you have with satay, and it was much too sweet for an entire meal. They didn't even cut it with soy sauce. I could have been more creative at home. I had the Thai basil chicken, which the menu says has basil, bell peppers, and bamboo shoots. It's my standard order to measure Thai restaurants. However, it came out with those veggies, plus green beans, zucchini and more, which was okay, but the chicken was so small and unsubstantial that it was basically chewy, ground meat. Quite unremarkable. Our main waitress kept wanting to clear our plates before we were done - and copped an attitude when we asked her to just leave them. Mr. Vegan was pouring the remains of the citrusy papaya salad onto his veggies to try to cut the too sweet peanut sauce. For all of the hassles - we were still charged full prices - and given no reason to ever come back. And we won't. There are plenty of other great Thai restaurants around Sacramento, and I will be asking all of them if they use CANNED sauces before we go. read more

First time I was there the pad Thai and boat noodle was really good but the next week I go again The boat noodles broth was water down. The broth don't have much flavor like the first time. I also ordered a pad thai to go for my husband it was too dry not enough sauce. Eat in or to go the food needs to be consistencies. The place is nice, the vibe is nice, the waitresses were super nice, but the food was not good. I know Thai curry is sweet but everything was literally doused in sugar. Pad thai, drunken noodle, tom Kha soup, EVEN MY CHICKEN LARB. LARB is not I repeat not supposed to be sweet. They don't even have real thai pepper there. It's dried pepper flakes. This restaurant took over for Erawan; we had such great food at Erawan, the expectations were very high for JP Thai. Sadly, some of the dishes took a hit: one being the panang curry. The lack of fresh ingredients/preparation was evident. Some of the other dishes still work OK, but my favorite slid down hill. Another is the chicken skewer appetizer: the marinade does not seem to be as flavorful or penetrating (lack of time in the marinade?). I order a both spicy papaya salad and red curry. Papaya was too sweet and it wasn't that spicy. I ask for 3 wedge lime for the salad and then it was ok but the sugar was still there. The red curry looks like yellow curry instead and it was sweet too.. Overall, ok but not the best. Not sure if I would return. However services was great. read more

I love this place! It is always quiet, clean, and inviting. The staff here are super welcoming and give you as much time as you need. The food has never is boring or untasted. They have great vegetarian options and I would highly recommend for anyone that's in town for a nice meal. I give it four stars because they don't have a ton of drink options. read more

My daughter and I had a late lunch date here. It is soo good. You would never guess how beautiful it in inside from the outside. Red curry chicken was amazing, just be careful of the lemon grass, I don't think you are supposed to eat it, it's very strong and fiberous. I can not believe how much chicken fried rice one little girl can eat! from her! We came I at 2:00pm not realizing they close at 2:30 before opening up later for dinner. That wasn't a problem though.
