I whole heartedly would never even consider another moving company. First off, their price was the lowest per hour out of the 5 quotes I received this time around. As if that wasn't a deal maker, they also assigned a four-man team instead of two or three like the others (which was laughable). Add in the FREE plastic tubs given to us 2 weeks before the move (easily saving $150+ to use those rent-able tubs, but these we could keep as long as we needed)... PLUS all the 5 star reviews. I mean, this is a no brainer people. So all of that sounds good on paper, but these guys actually were the best I've ever encountered. They showed up a little early to assess our apartment, then immediately began loading, very quickly and efficiently. Nothing was damaged, and they truly went above and beyond to position our stuff into our new house. We have a very large and expensive canvas painting and they knew specifically how to handle it. Everything last minute was wrapped and packaged well with their tape and significant amounts of bubble wrap-- all free of charge. Beforehand, John was outstanding in his response time and even delivered more bins to me once I requested. Seriously, he bent over backwards for us by not requiring us to pick up the bins, but delivering them himself, and at specific times that worked with our schedules. Also, every expense was detailed and there were NO surprises. Customer service was just top notch. Again, this is a no-brainer. I would never understand why anyone would use anyone else. In fact, we are using them again to move my husband's art studio to our basement. I recommend them so highly. read more

Yesterday I moved to a new apartment about 20 minutes away from my old one in Brooklyn. The move was, dare I say, easy? (Knock on wood that nothing goes wrong to balance that out.) JP Moving made everything stress free. Again, seriously. Their bins are $2 each with a $10 delivery/pickup fee. Use them. You get to skip the tape and the folding of boxes and the carrying of boxes and your valuables don't break. Their estimate is 20-25 bins for a 1BR, but we needed more like 30. Round up. The day of the move their dispatcher John stays in touch via text and checks in on everyone's progress. Our move came in below JP's estimate by almost 2 hours! This means my move was UNDER budget. The movers have a giant truck that will hold everything, blankets, etc. and for an extra fee, boxes for your TV and lamps (our lamp broke in the box, but it was an old, cheap lamp.) They will care more about your IKEA furniture than you do. There was an option to pay with a credit card, which I've never had before with movers. If you've got more stuff than will fit in a "man with a van," I highly recommend JP. A++ read more

First time hiring a legit moving company rather than counting on CL or friends and am SO glad I did! From when I requested a quote to dropping off the last box, the folks at JP were courteous, prompt and responsive. I moved ~10 blocks within Brooklyn and the move took around 4 hours which is exactly what they had estimated. There were no hidden costs or anything. Bins: Nikki was great in scheduling the bins to be delivered and picked up prior to and after our move was finished. Note: they only pick up/drop off on Tues and Sat. At $2.50 a bin (and $12 delivery/pickup charge), it saved us the hassle of scouring for and buying boxes. Communication: John was awesome. He followed up 2 days before the move to let us know that we were still on schedule. He texted the morning of to let us know that they were on their way and also midway through to make sure everything was going well! Amazing. Movers: Matt and team were great and fast. They wrapped/boxed up our tv, mirrors, tables and taped up all the drawers. Nothing broke! Fantastic!! They take credit card too which was great! We ended up tipping $10 per person per hour. EVER. the bottom line: John gave the most thorough estimate, provided me with an arsenal of bins, a 4 man crew and huge truck, his guys finished the job with two drop-off locations in 2.5 hours. also I have a lot of stuff. in fact, they were so quick it left me extra money I had budgeted, I was able to tip out the team generously. I work 7 days and 90+ hours a week. It is the holidays. I haven't moved in years. This should have been an arduous and stressful experience but this company made it a breeze. Their rates are great, especially for such an efficient and thorough team (zero breakage, so much care taken in wrapping and boxing my valuables.) The movers were professional, and even though I have so much stuff (some of which they demonstrated feats of inhuman strength) they never complained or dragged ass or maneuvered my belongings inefficiently. He and his company are such good communicators via text and email, but never overbearing. They even rented bins (far cheaper and larger than jugglebox) and let me keep them for a month after the move while I unpacked. I came to this company via yelp based on their reviews and the super thorough estimate. I even turned down other estimates from companies my local friends had used and liked. It is no accident this moving company has so many 5 star reviews! They did a great job helping me move from downtown Manhattan to uptown, even coordinating an extra stop to pick up a bed. They were extremely organized and efficient. They kept me updated via text msg when the movers were on their way and went they got to the new place. Incredible service! The fiance and I were in a bind and on short notice had to move. The last time I tried to move with me and 1 other person, it took the entire day. (8am to 10pm). Due to this, we knew we had to break down and hire some movers. Thus starts the search. Craiglist ads? No thanks. I decided to check the reviews on Yelp and had narrowed it down to JP and another mover. I chose JP because they were licensed and from the reviews seemed more no nonsense and professional. Juan kept in regular contact with me even texting me the morning of to keep me updated. The movers showed up a few minutes early and got right down to business. I made the mistake of not completely breaking down my furniture, but they did it for me and fast. Due to this, it added 45 mins to the estimate cost, so I ended up paying more in the end, but considering it was all said and done in less than 5 hours, I can't complain. As a co-worker told me, you would never regret the money you spend to have someone move you if they do a good job as opposed to doing it yourself. He was absolutely right. The guys thoroughly wrapped and secured everything to protect my furniture and things. They broke it all down and put it all back together as if nothing had changed. Even with the mayhem of the cable guys doing installation at the same time, and having to carry my couch to the 4th floor when it didn't fit in the elevator, they didn't even blink an eye about it. I would highly recommend these guys in a heartbeat and my fiance kept going on about how amazing they were, saying the service was top notch. Calling to book was a breeze and was quick. I had a return phone call and a quote within 30 minutes of contacting their office on a Saturday afternoon for a Sunday morning move. They were informative and communicated well with me about who my foreman would be, times, insurance and rates. I completely fudged up the time the storage facility would be open, they were punctual and I was panicked! My job was estimated at 3.5 hours and already I was going to cut into that time. Josh called me right away and was so sympathetic to my "move day stress". He told me he would lower the fee while the movers waited AN HOUR AND A HALF for the storage unit to open! They were super efficient with taping things up and wrapping anything that looked like it may become unsteady enroute. They worked so QUICKLY! literally no breaks...just a constant stream of moving! Unloading a 1 bedroom apartment sized storage unit from beginning to securing in their super large truck and driving off to the final location took 45 minutes exactly! 45minutes!!! BRUH!!! (Do you know how many hours it took my friends and I to jigsaw puzzle those items into the unit....bruh*) They reached my new place smoothly and began unloading. Placed everything where I needed it. They were quick, careful and efficient! I couldn't have had a smoother move! It ended up being a little over initially quoted even with the extra 1.5 hours! But still under budget for me! They all kept in contact with me throughout the process. They were friendly and not once did I see anyone take a break (I wouldn't have been bothered!) hard workers with SENSATIONAL customer service! These guys were remarkable. We've used other movers, unhappily, and gotten quotes from others, also unhappily. But if we ever move again they'll be our first call. Why I liked them: - Gave us a detailed quote breaking down all the costs, so no hidden charges - Prompt, friendly customer service - On the day of our move, we got a text confirmation letting us know they were en route and who our crew would be--totally kept us in the loop - Cheerful, friendly crew--unlike our last movers, who were sullen, these guys seemed to almost be having a good time (if such a thing is possible with such a labor-intensive job!) - Incredibly efficient in moving & packing, and did a great job packing our delicates - Moved stuff (including a huge sofa) down three flights of stairs and up six, without complaint, and then moved the sofa down six again when it didn't fit in the new apartment And best of all came in under the quoted price, and were accurate to the 15-minute increment in terms of how much time they charged us for--3.75 hrs instead of 4! But in an industry rife with scary stories about dishonest companies that charge more than estimated and hold peoples' belongings "hostage" I think it's important to call out the good guys. JP Urban is one of the best moving companies I've ever hired - and I have had Six professional moves in NYC. They showed up on time at 8:00 am with four guys and had an assembly line approach that kept things moving quickly. They finished before noon. Shortly after I posted my review, John from JP Urban Moving called to talk through my experience with the company. John, without hesitation, admitted that my initial on-site estimate was incredibly inaccurate and agreed that costs for packing materials were not made entirely clear to me in the beginning. He offered (again without being prompted) to give me credit for the cost of the packing materials they used, and credit for up to 1.5 hours of labor because the move took that much longer than the initial estimate. In the end, I was very happy that he was able to resolve my situation in such a friendly manner. I am impressed with the high level of customer service that I experienced, and even though my first time moving with this company didn't start off on the best foot, I think that they provide such great service and would consider using them again in the future. read more

I got the packing and delivery service and they did a fantastic job. I moved in NY 5 times and they were by far the best. It was done in two intense days but really well organized and thoughtful. The crew was very nice and experienced. In addition, although they were very careful, my bed got a visible indentation which I identified a few days after they left but they immediately volunteered to take care or fixing it at no additional cost which I enormously appreciated. I am sorry it took me over a month to write this review. I was busy recovering from the extremely traumatic TWO moves we had to endure over the course of 3 weeks. Here's the short of it... Hubby and I found our dream apt in W Chelsea (a famous, old, storied building, I will let you figure it out). We hired JP Urban for the move based on their excellent reputation and their immediately being "on it" with the communication. We also had them pack us. They were awesome, fast, careful and lovely to be around. Ok, so they moved us into this supposedly wonderful building and there was a very chemically smell in the apt. We figured it was paint, it would be ok in a few days. Not the case. Everyone got very ill in the apt. Although we had COMPLETELY unpacked over the course of 4 days, we had to move again. My doctor insisted. She said the apt was toxic after examining me. Called the wonderful folks at JP Urban and explained, through tears, what had just happened and asked if they could soon move us again. First, John (he is so wonderful) had true empathy for the situation and sounded really sad for us. He made us feel much better by reassuring us that this actually does happen more than you'd think, and that they would fully pack and move us the minute we found another place to live. After a week, we found our new and non-toxic apt. JP Urban rocked it out and made this horrible situation as painless as possible. I could not recommend them more highly. JP Urban exceeded expectations! Best moving experience I've had in the NYC area. Besides being careful with our things and efficient, they handled an issue with our couch like real pros. The couch didn't fit in the elevator and they ended up having to carry it up 222 steps. It wasn't easy to navigate and certainly wasn't something they expected to do. No complaints about it, and when they finished, they said "good thing you have a light couch". We were charged a surcharge for the stairs, which was disclosed in advance, and which seemed more than reasonable for the added work. Would absolutely use them again for our next move. read more

I had initially contacted if they were available for my move at the end of the month(I think everyone and their grandmother was moving because everyone was booked!). My fiance and I decided to go with JP based on their price quote, availability and reviews, and I'm glad we did. Juan answered all of my questions over the phone prior to the move. Sometimes I had a hard time getting him on the phone, but that was probably because I called during lunch. Even though we scheduled an afternoon move, they called that morning to let us know that the were available about 3 hours ahead of time. We scrambled a bit, but we ended up making it work. Their clock started as soon as we met up with them outside our old apartment, as we were trying to set up a few things at the new one. The 4 men crew worked insanely fast wrapping and packing everything. I couldn't believe how quick everything was on the truck. When we got to the new apartment, it didn't take them long to unload everything, and they were very careful. I don't think anything was damaged, but it was definitely worth the piece of mind opting for the additional insurance just in case. When the crew finished, all packing materials they used to wrap the furniture with were taken away (ie, they didn't leave a mess behind). The move ended up taking about the same amount of time as originally quoted by Juan. We decided to tip each man $10 per hour of the move. They definitely deserved it! Excellent service all around. Fair price. We moved a 2 bedroom apartment (walk-ups on both ends) and was assigned 5 guys (don't take less than 5 for 2 bedroom!). They arrived on time and finished early. They packed things insanely well and fast. I really like that the team worked well together and everyone knew what they had to do. No confusion or stress. Tips: 1. We checked out our street parking. Coordinated for the truck to arrive as soon as sanitation truck went by so that there would be no issue with parking. The farther they have to park from location, longer the move would take. 2. To ensure accurate quote, we included pictures of big and unusual items (eg. industrial sewing machine, 2 big air conditioners, huge Ikea closet, heavy cabinet) on their quote forms. 3. Book early! These movers were amazing! Moving usually sucks but they were such pros. The prices were about 2/3rds what I was being quoted elsewhere and were communicated transparently (they are also transparent in indicating what a standard but optional tip would be). I expected our move would take all day since we were moving in together from two apartments, but they completed the move in 4.5 hours. I can't understate how impressed we were with them -- each member of the crew was fast, thorough, and the entire operation was a well-oiled machine. I don't know how they do it but it's almost like every guy on the crew had been through a moving ninja bootcamp. We were moving into a ground floor apartment with winding stairs and narrow doors and it's a bit of a miracle that they managed to move everything in. All our furniture arrived in pristine condition and nothing in the apartment was scuffed up. It was definitely worth it. These guys were, dare I say it, heroes...and let me tell you why. I used Miguel's team and they were swift and efficient and courteous in every way anyone could want but where they went above and beyond was completely delivering on an extraordinary request I had. I had grown a tiny maple tree into a two story giant on my terrace. It had a 42 inch base and took four men simply to lift it. These guys were undaunted and were willing to cut off fifteen feet of branches, wrap the tree up, and dig out several inches of direct so that the base could fit through the doorway (I hadn't even thought of that.) Rather than being abandoned, my beloved tree now lives a borough away, albeit with a haircut. An AMAZING job in every way. Hire them! read more

My wife and I used JP Urban Moving for our move in May 2018, and we could not have had a better experience. JP Urban Moving went above and beyond in the following ways: --We had absolutely no damage to any of our furniture or belongings. They did an incredible job wrapping all of our furniture and disassembling/reassembling it. Not a scratch! My wife and I recently got married and so we had a lot of fragile wedding gifts to transport. The movers packed fragile items with care and paid attention to "fragile" labels. That we had no damage was incredible. --The team lead by Miguel was professional, kind, and worked incredibly efficiently. After several stressful days packing, we were exhausted and had things left to pack. The moment the movers arrived, the movers swooped in and took our packing over the finish line. It was amazing. They also were willing to use our leftover boxes and materials before they started to use theirs, saving us money.) They also made it easier to settle into our new apartment. Just used these guys on Saturday and it was such a great experience. They showed up right on time, were so polite and careful with my stuff and were completely finished in 2 hours (including the drive from Queens to Manhattan!)
