Walked into J's Burgers, and even though its a small place there is quite a bit of seating. Its a basic simple menu but that means those are the items they specialize in. Boyfriend & I got a double cheeseburger and their chicken sandwich. (We split them so we could try two things at once). The burger was juicy and flavorful. The chicken sandwich comes with avocado and had great flavors. The fries were hand cut and awesome. Prices were great! Will definitely go back again. read more

This restaurant had no sign on the front door requiring a mask to be required. Two customers were inside without wear masks. I do not understand I do believe there is a state mandate requiring masks to be worn inside all business. I will not be eating here since they do not enforce this mandate. read more

Great burger, guy at the counter didnt realize I was trying to create a BleederBurger(extra patty, extra cheese, extra spicy) aside the assumed language barrier. I will definitely be coming back. Hot, juicy burger, with shoestring fries seasoned to perfection. The strawberry milkshake(say what you wish) was at the perfect middle point between milk and ice cream. read more

Came here due to Yelp reviews and wanted to support local businesses while in Paso Robles. The place didn't disappoint . The burgers were fresh and the garlic fries that we ordered was a bomb! I had J's burgers in Paso for the first time a couple weeks ago and I have had them twice a week since! The burgers are cooked fresh to order and they almost have a BBQ'd flavor to them, charbroiled maybe. I will say that I only get my burgers bunless and for anyone out there who is a fan of In n Out protein style, I kinds like these better. I think this is why I am such a fan! I have had the fries and they are okay, kinda standard. The onion rings and milkshakes are good. I haven't tried much else but they usually have a daily special combo up an the board. Overall, I really like the burgers and the atmosphere is just a nice place to grab a good burger. read more

Plenty of food at a good price. Simple menu. Next time I will try the salad which looked very good and had a choice of ingredients and dressings. Our group had cheeseburgers and fries and chicken strip. I went back and had the salad. It was very good. Too half home to my son who also said he liked it. read more

Sadly disappointed. Burger is just ok. Standard thin frozen meat patty cooked on fire grill ...not alot of taste gave it a 2 for the brioxhe type bun and just ok fries. Didn't wish to finish it. Not for foodies. read more

I was passing through town and saw an in n out, I always like to read yelp reviews for Mom and pop spots, when I saw the ratings and photos I was sold. This place has a Solid burger, I got the double cheese burger combo with the garlic fries, 5 stars for the burger 2 stars for the garlic fries however the regular fries are definitely 5 star worthy, if I didn't live so far I would definitely be back. read more

WoW this place does have the best burger in town and possibly in SLO. I ordered the cheeseburger combo with garlic fries and what a delicious combo, fries are cooked to order. The menu is small and simple the way a burger place should be. Definitely a must try when in Paso Robles when in the mood for a burger. read more

We used to eat here often. The staff is very unfriendly. The gals that take your order never smile or make you feel welcomed. They make you feel as if your imposing on them. I ordered the chicken salad which I have many times. Always pretty nice except I hate iceberg lettuce. One time and only one time it was made with romaine which was a huge improvement. Anyhow the topping are normally laid out nicely. Corn all together then black beans on another section nicely placed just like all the other toppings. Then the chicken on top. We ordered to go this time. The salad looked like they threw it in the air and everything landed wherever. Very disappointing! She never asked what dressing I would like when we placed our order. My husband only likes tomatoes and pickles on his burger. The ONE slice of tomatoe was paper thin. Very disappointed in what used to be good quality. He said this time it wasn't much different then Jack in the Box. The girl never asked my husband what kind of dressing I wanted. He figured I told her and it was in the bag. Good thing we came home with it. Or I'd have a dry salad. I hope this was a one time experience. Except the unfriendliness is mostly consistent. That's why I don't tip them. If they learned to say hello and thank you and smiled that might change things. Customer service is very important for any business, even a burger joint. Used to be the best burger joint in town. We both enjoyed our burgers, and shared an order of fries (which was so large that we were unable to finish it). Service was fast and friendly. Visiting from LA. I liked that the bun and fries for my burger wasn't the typical cheap stuff you normally find at diners and burger joints. The Fries didn't taste frozen and the bun tasted like real bread and not some dry sponge. Good food for a good price. Easy to order on Yelp and was ready when I got there. Portions are big, I would come again. read more

I would have gladly given them four (maybe even five) stars for the quality and quantity of their food however, the girl at the register could not have been more disengaged..... almost to the point of being rude. In fact, I almost turned around and walked out after placing my order. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I expect star treatment (far from it) but please, make me believe that you have the slightest interest in your job and the customer..... ugh. Again, the burger was awesome and the garlic fries are the real deal. Just hope that the girl at the register has moved to the grill or even better, at a job that's away from the public. Sorry to the management for being tough but you've got stiff competition..... remind your employees of it. read more

We stopped here for a quick dinner on our way to San Simeon. The menu was easy to peruse, the prices were fair, and they had outdoor seating which we love. The sauce on the burgers was stellar and we had our food within ten minutes. Highly recommend! read more

After what felt like the longest day we ended the night here. I went on to Yelp per usual lol and this spot was close to our hotel. Its small and we drove past it the first time but it was late and it was opened so we went in. The place didn't appear super clean but it was not dirty more so like a family owned small diner nothing fancy. The girl that took our order was nice and didn't rush us to order and answered questions we had. We decided to just eat there and the tables and chairs were clean. For it being after 8 the little restaurant got pretty full with families. I got the western burger and my fiance got the double cheeseburger. I did not like the bread it got soggy fast and before I knew it I didn't have a bottom bun. The taste was of wheat bread which is fine but I wasn't expecting that taste. I love burgers and try them everywhere I go so this one even as hungry as I was did not impress me. I did like their fries and their ranch was delicious. I do go to Paso often and I will try their cheeseburger next time. read more

Burgers were pretty good. Food seemed homemade and not pre-frozen. Selection of food was simple: burgers, chicken strips and salads. Garlic fries were pretty good also with a decent flavor, but also had homemade fries and onion rings. Food was made to order and served fast. Overall was a good choice for out-of-towners or locals. read more

The portions are huge here. Check before ordering or you will end up with way too much food. I ordered a salad but it was better suited for multiple people vs. a single person. The burgers were also large and we ordered a small side of fries - also more than enough to share with the table. The seating inside was ok but there were large bugs flying in/out because the doors were open. We ended up sitting outside at the tables. read more

Well another hamburger stand. but it's more than that. it is so very nice people making hamburgers and fries and a few sandwiches and I've got to say their hamburger is quite satisfying. You don't need a double burger a single is planning unless you're really planning to bulk out. the fries are nice and it's reasonably clean. Was craving a good cheeseburger on a drive and Yelp had this at a four star so we stopped. I'd call J's Western cheeseburger just average. The single patty was kind of thin (but wide), I couldn't detect any onion ring on top and it had no cheese melting over the sides either. The sauce was ok, but too much shredded lettuce. My SO had a combo and her fries were good. The hotdog was good but make sure you order it with the bacon add-on, it really helped this kinda standard dog. read more

The chicken avocado sandwich is satisfying and flavorful. My relatives who live around here love this place. I hope they bring me back here again! Good Mom & Pop burger places are the best. I'm only docking them a star because I didn't want J's special sauce on my sandwich & they put it on anyway. But, honestly, it enhanced the the sandwich so maybe I should give them 5 stars. In fact, I've been working in the area for the last four days, and I've stopped in for a mocha three of those four mornings. That's how good it is. The staff deserves just as much praise as the coffee. Every barista I've interacted with has been friendly, welcoming, and consistently on point. They genuinely make you feel appreciated and are a huge asset to this coffee shop. If you're anywhere nearby and love a great mocha, do yourself a favor and stop by H. Cheval Coffee. You won't be disappointed.

I truly hope that this place can figure it out because the food is very good but the consistency is horrible. I've been here a dozen times or so and not once have we ever gotten our order and everything was correct. My wife is lactose intolerant so naturally she orders a "Hamburger" and explains she can't have cheese. Needless to say it comes with cheese every time. Then she orders the chicken sandwich and asks does it have cheese on it? The lady says no yet when it comes it had cheese. We've also often times added bacon and/or avocado and not gotten either one. I often wonder if the owner knows that every order that comes out has to be made twice. I can only guess the amount of waste that comes out of here. Imagine the income lost by having to make all orders twice. Like I said when I started my review the food is delicious and I enjoy it, which is why I keep coming back, but I foresee if they don't figure this out, they won't be around for long which would be a shame since it's a good burger and fries for a great price once they get the order correct. read more

Ok......my husband and I normally love this place and we never have any problems...BUT TODAY WAS A DIFFERENT STORY...where to begin... 1. The Blonde haired girl with the maroon sweatshirt taking our order was Very helpful! 3. The Dark haired girl with the cream colored sweatshirt with maroon lettering calling the orders to the cooks, She needs some help with her Customer Service skills! 4. Ordered our food & it took 25 minutes to get! Mind you, I was 2nd in line & there was only 3 others in the place at the time. 5. When my husband was on his 3rd bite, he found a hair in his burger! 6. He went up to the cashier, she was on the phone, so he told the dark haired girl what happened & she all she said was "Sorry." REALLY!!! THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY! WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE! 7. I'd just try to make sure to get there before 1 PM - last time, we learned, we made it accidentally *just* in time for their breakfast menu, which not only means you can get a fried chicken sandwich with a fried egg, clearly making it better, but it's also several dollars *cheaper*. For 9 bucks with fries - compared to 14 for the dinner version - that's probably *cheaper* than the average fast food chicken stop, separate from the fast that it was about a thousand times tastier. Though, while the vibe of this place is very much fast food, the food *itself* isn't fast food - it took exactly as long as you'd expect, given they're making everything fresh to order, but not any longer than that. (I didn't have any complaints about the speed, but it isn't Burger King.) Anyway, we figured since they had two breakfast items (the sandwich and a breakfast burrito) and there were two of us, we'd split both of them, which I wouldn't recommend as much. The breakfast burrito was by no means bad, but it was a bit floppier and not quite as filling - great chicken obviously, being the same chicken, but we agreed, we'd had way better breakfast burritos. The breakfast chicken sandwich was absolutely bomb, though. Only minor complaint, their drinks are all super sugary, and a little pricey at $4 for fountain soda - but at least it's a more premium brand of soda... still probably more than your daily sugar per cup, but at least it *is* sugar, not high fructose corn syrup. It does feel like they're missing out by not having a license to sell beer, though. That sandwich would go *really* well with a craft beer.

The prices were surprisingly high for this area--honestly more in line with what you'd expect in a bigger city like LA. It immediately set a higher expectation for the food. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich with garlic fries. The fries were crispy, but there was barely any actual garlic--just a faint hint of garlic oil. When I think of garlic fries, I expect to see and taste real garlic, not just a suggestion of it. The tri-tip sandwich was the biggest disappointment. It came with only two very thin slices of meat--more like deli cuts than a hearty tri-tip portion--along with arugula and a spread that didn't really complement the sandwich. The flavors just didn't come together. To make matters worse, the root beer was flat, and while the waitress was kind, drink refills were minimal--basically once when we sat down and once when we were finished. For $22 per sandwich, the value just isn't there. For what we spent as a group, we could have had a much better meal elsewhere--honestly even in places like Pebble Beach. I understand businesses have overhead, but pricing needs to match both the quality and the local customer base. The people who live and work here year-round are the ones who will sustain the business, especially during slower seasons. Unfortunately, based on this experience, it'll be a while before I return.
