Went here for breakfast, and I was skeptical. I'm not a breakfast person but hubby LOVES breakfast. We travel in our RV so we are "outsiders" and sometimes the service reflects that. But not here. Welcomed in, our waitress was great. Breakfast was ok for me (as good as it gets for me) and great for hubby. He loved it. I guess they are famous for their fresh made cinnamon rolls. We saw them on the counter and couldn't resist. Got two to go. We should have gotten one because they were huge! And quite delicious. I highly recommend J's Prairie Rose. Hands down they serve the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. We shared one as a starter and boy I'm glad we did!! The food is fairly priced and decent serving sizes too. We had a 20-25 minute wait for a party of four. It's a small place but worth the wait to try it! We arrived to eat breakfast before 11:00 am. We sat at the table and our waitress took our order for drinks. Then I saw someone wiping the daily breakfast special off the whiteboard minutes before 11:00. I asked the waitress why the special was being wiped off the whiteboard. She said that the "griddle" part of the breakfast menu stopped at 11:00 (pancakes- waffles etc). Being a couple of minutes before 11:00 & because (i) we sat approximately 10 minutes before 11:00 and (ii) she took our drink order before 11:00, I would have thought we could order pancakes. NO Breakfast allowed from the griddle !! We ordered a hamburger and some eggs and left disappointed. The hash browns were out of the freezer. Very yummy locals breakfast and brunch spot. Everyone knows everyone in this small but cute cafe. I had to go with my cafe favourite and had the chicken fried steak and eggs. Loved everything about my meal and even got the hash browns well done. Loved the sourdough toast with butter. My son had his go to biscuits and gravy. The gravy was full of sausage pieces and the biscuit was soft and moist. He thought there might have been a little to much pepper on the hash browns. Just off the main street through Laramie, this cozy little diner was a gem! Called ahead to ensure they would cook hash-browns with no butter and no oil and they would. We ordered a bowl of Oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins. A very large bowl and a good textured rolled oat (thick old fashioned kind) made this a hearty meal by itself. I would have liked to have had some fresh fruit with this but didn't see it on the menu but would definitely order this again. We also ordered a side of hash browns with no oil/butter - just steamed - with some diced veggies (onions, green peppers) and they were good as well. The wait staff was friendly and quick. Delicious and friendly. Called as we left our camp site in Cheyenne and they said they'd have it ready to go when we arrived. There was a lack of mask wearing and social distancing by patrons and it's a small place but you can sit outside on the little town outdoor area at the end of the street. Being my last day in Wyoming before heading back to California I wanted to try a local breakfast place. It was between J's or Perkins. I decided with J's since it felt more like a local spot. I had a yummy omelet and all of my friends got variations of breakfast burritos which were so big they struggled to finish. It probably doesn't help that they started off with cinnamon rolls, but who can resist! The ones at J's Prairie Rose are equal parts enormous and delicious.
