Homeless camp across from the restaurant
Della N.

If I could give this place zero stars, I probably would due to the food not being good at all. I ordered the ribs and black bean sauce with fried rice and It tasted like it had been cooked in the morning and warmed up. The texture of the rice was spongy and appeared to have been re-cooked or warmed up several times after sitting out for some time. the black bean sauce Had a spoiled aftertaste or maybe it was the ribs but either way I spit it out. There is no way that the reviews on this location are legit. I never like to give a bad review, but this is not an area that I would normally eat or food that I would say has a rating of four stars or better. The restaurant was also very hot with no air conditioner and only fans running. This was a waste of money and my time since I wanted to have Chinese food on my visit back to Sacramento. I would not consider this restaurant if you're looking for a good Chinese food in the area.

Kung pao chicken- not great.
Clarissa B.

I ordered the kung pao chicken lunch meal. It was ok at best. It was essentially chicken, veggies and peanuts tossed in oil and chili powder. It was spicy, and the flavor was ok, but the quality wasn't great. I didn't know it was in a bar, and I had my doubts when I pulled up. My instincts were correct. The manager was nice, but the food wasn't good enough to make a return.

Nice little spot in the cuts for a beer and prawns

Place is original. Yeah, plastic knives and forks, so what, place is nice and cozy. Located in the auburn road cuts off El Camino....Friendly vibes and a lot of character. Take your buddies and dine in. Thanks John, you're a real one.

Price reflects quality. The meat quality is about a 7/10. Nevertheless, my meal was quite delicious. The setting of the bar was a little off putting but it reminded me of a friendly neighborhood bar where if you spent more than 10 minutes you'd definitely get acquainted with one of the locals. The owner John is nice. My order was prepared wrong & they fixed it in about 3 minutes. Go for the house chow mein. Incredibly flavorful with delicious vibrant veggies and 3 meats. Updated menu pics & my meal.

Had lunch today and stopped here. Mom and I were quite impressed with our meals. Mom had the spareribs with the fried rice and I had the garlic chicken with veggies with chow mein. The sauces were delicious.

Not much to look at from the outside. A little bar like in the inside. Best sweet and sour chicken I have had in a long time. No regrets!

Good portions, classic style and taste. Great for lunch if you need a good meal and they're reasonably priced.

The food here is soooooo good!! I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and we…read morefinally came here for dinner. Everything we ordered was very flavorful! The service was quick and efficient. The place was modern and clean. We would definitely come back again.

The seafood chow mien had lots of shrimp and squid. It wasn't oily and had good flavor. The shrimp…read moreand squid were cooked perfectly as they were not over cooked and the squid was very tender. The wonton soup had a lot of wonton that were filled with meat and were yummy. There was also an adequate amount of vegetables in the soup. The broth was clear and flavorful. The honey garlic spareribs were sweet and scrumptious. There were even fried whole cloves of garlic which complimented the spareribs well. The batter on the spareribs was not too thick and was crispy even though it was coated with sauce. Service was adequate as the workers refilled water and offered a plastic cup for my child. I noticed there was an emergency exit, however there were chairs blocking the door and the door was locked shut with a metal bar going across. The illuminated exit sign above the door was misleading as this door would not be suitable as an emergency exit. If there were an emergency it would be hazardous for everyone in the restaurant to leave through the front door in a chaotic scramble that would result in additional injuries/death.

The honey shrimp is the best thing here. I come back time after time. It is perfectly seasoned,…read morecrispy, and tender. The sauce is sweet, savory, and thick. It's fresh every time. Everything else is alright.

While I was…read morewaiting, 3 other people ordered the fish as well, and it gets good reviews here on Yelp, so I made the trip to Mack Rd at night once again. The good - my order was prepared quickly, and the amount of fish was very generous. The fish was tasty and spicy. The house chow mein that I also ordered had decent (read below) flavor. The bad - the salt and pepper fish had a great batter, but I feel they're battered too much, and the actual fish piece inside is tiny. My house chow mein didn't have a single shrimp in it. Lots of beef, which was good, but the char smell from the beef was the only thing you could taste on the noodles. It's almost like the chef cooked the noodles on whatever the beef was cooked on. The noodles we had ordered from here a month ago had very good flavor, but not a one note beef flavor. There was a lot of beef and chicken in the house chow mein, but zero shrimp means the cook either forgot or they didn't have them and thought it would be ok to add more beef. Either way, I paid extra for my selection, and didn't get it. Am I Pissy? Yes. Am I honest? Also a Yes. 3 stars this trip, probably my last.

Okay sooo I really thought my friend was exaggerating when she said this place easily eat another…read morewell known dumpling franchise for her...but uh she proved me wrong pretty easily. We went by on a Sunday around 12:30 and were able to join the yelp wait list as we parked and get a table for 3 easily. Fair warning if you are a larger group and come at peak times, join the waitlist early or be ready to wait a bit! The interior is bright, lively with a ton of bright light and decorations. There is a good amt of seating but let me tell you, it fills up FAST. The menu is EXPANSIVE with tons of options for omnivores and vegetarians alike. I will admit the impossible siu mai grabbed my attention pretty fast because I had never seen a vegetarian siu mai before sooo we had to order it. My friends shared the pork xlbs and we got the garlic green beans and the garlic noodles to share as well! Honestly, it was like being in a flow state between the garlic noodz and the green beans alone; highkey could eat multiple plates of just those two back to back to back l o l The siu mai was also delish but the other two dishes were somehow better. The soy/vinegar and chili oil they give for dipping is so good and hits that perfect note between salty/tangy/spicy. Prices are fair for the quality and I would love to go back and try more of their vegetarian options! I appreciate that this a spot that both vegetarians and their omnivore friends can go~ Have to go back to try their desserts including the egg tarts that sold out!

I always come here for the curry beef stew chow fun but they sold out of fun, so rice it is. I must've come at the right time because the restaurant was just clearing out of the early diners, the restaurant was packed. Its been so bad the past decade that we decided to give it another chance. Different management, different chefs, different everything basically. The fried flounder was so fried that I could not separate the bones, not only that, you could barely get any meat out of it. Our table had nine people and they only provided 6 buns with our peking duck. I thought they didn't have enough steamer space and was going to bring more but nope. The shrimp in their salted egg pumpkin and shrimp dishes was overcooked and their deep fried pig intestines were extremely stinky. Their portion sizes downsized like crazy and it's so bad that we didn't even finish any of the dishes. The best dish was a stir fry cauliflower dish that I could make at home. It was supposed to come with pork, but I only saw itty bitty pieces of meat. The service was also super bad and slow. I was eating their fried rice and bit on a piece of broken yellow plastic with multiple sharp points. Prior to that, I was feeding my toddler the rice so THANKFULLY it didn't go to him. When we told the server, which was an older lady with glasses and bangs, she's like oh... then she took it to the kitchen and pretended that nothing had ever happened when she came back out. Shes been there for years, and I remember seeing her when we were regulars. I wasn't expecting anything, except for some accountability. I used to love this place so it's pretty sad to see how much it went downhill.... This business needs to be scrapped. The current 3 stars is giving them too much credit and it must have been due to when they used to be good, in the past.
