Food did not taste fresh at all. Would not recommend. I would rather eat panda express

Located in a not so nice area, lots of homeless encampments and abandoned cars. Inside is pretty run down, dirty looking and very cluttered. It's on odd combination of restaurant and dive bar as they have dart boards and a ping pong table but very minimal table seating. When I came, they were having a dart tournament in the main "dining" area so not sure if they moved tables but there was only like 3 tables other than bar seating. The owner was great though, super nice and funny. Based on the above observations, I was hesitant to order food, but I was starving and went for it. I got the general chicken plate with chicken chow mein. Food was prepared fairly quickly. General chicken looked a little different than what I've normally seen, it was bright orange/reddish like sweet and sour chicken with no veggies and the chow mein looked green. I'm fairly certain the general chicken was in fact sweet and sour chicken with a chili powder mixed in for the spiciness as some pieces were sweet with no spice and others had some kind of powder on them that made it spicy. But honestly, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The chow mein had no flavor at all though so lots of soy sauce was needed. They unfortunately do not have spicy mustard. Overall, if you can deal with the looks of the surrounding area and the clutter of inside, it's a decent price for mediocre Chinese food. read more

I didn't even get to taste the food, the man behind the bar was very rude. It was 10:15 am and he kept stating that he just opened it'll be a minute. He kept asking me was I ready and I kept telling him. Yes I'm ready. Very poor customer service if you open at 10 AM you should be ready to accept orders definitely 15 minutes after you open. There's about six cars parked at the establishment with only one handicap park available yet there was only two employees in the establishment. Never ever will I go here again read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I probably would due to the food not being good at all. I ordered the ribs and black bean sauce with fried rice and It tasted like it had been cooked in the morning and warmed up. The texture of the rice was spongy and appeared to have been re-cooked or warmed up several times after sitting out for some time. the black bean sauce Had a spoiled aftertaste or maybe it was the ribs but either way I spit it out. There is no way that the reviews on this location are legit. I never like to give a bad review, but this is not an area that I would normally eat or food that I would say has a rating of four stars or better. The restaurant was also very hot with no air conditioner and only fans running. This was a waste of money and my time since I wanted to have Chinese food on my visit back to Sacramento. I ordered the kung pao chicken lunch meal. It was ok at best. It was essentially chicken, veggies and peanuts tossed in oil and chili powder. It was spicy, and the flavor was ok, but the quality wasn't great. I didn't know it was in a bar, and I had my doubts when I pulled up. My instincts were correct. The manager was nice, but the food wasn't good enough to make a return. read more

Price reflects quality. The meat quality is about a 7/10. Nevertheless, my meal was quite delicious. The setting of the bar was a little off putting but it reminded me of a friendly neighborhood bar where if you spent more than 10 minutes you'd definitely get acquainted with one of the locals. The owner John is nice. My order was prepared wrong & they fixed it in about 3 minutes. Go for the house chow mein. Incredibly flavorful with delicious vibrant veggies and 3 meats. I decided to try some Chinese for this evening because I love Chinese food. I ordered the crab ragoon or as specified on the menu crab cream cheese, and an order of chicken and broccoli combo with chicken fried rice. The meal presentation was great. The food was hot and looked well put together. I was taken aback with cash only but that's not a problem. My sister order the same meal as I, however she got an order off egg rolls ( which were huge I might add). However, the food lacked quality taste wise. Although,my sister enjoyed the crab cream cheese, I however, felt it could have been a tad bit sweeter. The red sauce did make up for it but I like the cream cheese a bit sweeter. The chicken and broccoli tasted way too salty due to the overwhelming amount of soy sauce. The fried rice was bit mushy and could have been fried a little longer. I love Chinese food, however the meal lacked tastefulness. Subsequently, the egg rolls would have tasted good as well if the ginger root wasn't overpowering the other ingredients inside. I may try something else on the menu because there is a wide variety of options but I'm not sure because I am very particular with my Chinese food. read more

Loved the Mongolian Beef and the crab and cream cheese wontons. The beef was flavorful and tender, the onions were cooked perfectly. The sweet and sour sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and sour and just the right consistency, not so thin and runny as others, so it clung to the wontons. Also loved the atmosphere equal parts sport bar and Chinese restaurant. It would be a great place to hand out after work. The service was great, the man who took care of us was very friendly and accommodating. read more

Living in north Sacramento, I'm always looking for good Chinese place so I don't have to drive downtown. This is not the place. I got the chow mein with pan fried noodles, Hong Kong style. The noodles were like thick, fried, raw spaghetti noodles. It was awful. To make it worse they charged me an extra 2 bucks for the pan fry. To the owner; next time someone comes in looking for Hong Kong style chow mein, just tell them you don't have it. read more

I have to say this is one of the best whole in the wall places I've ever been to! The owner, John is pretty awesome! I like spicy food, and his guy whipped up the spiciest Kung pao chicken I've ever had! And not only was it spicy hot, but it was delicious! This neighborhood joint is easy to find, though the main door is unmarked. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman at the bar who turned out to be the owner. After setting me up with a menu he returned to his game of liar's drive with a couple other patrons. He kept one eye on me & one eye on the game so I didn't feel overlooked. I ordered cashew chicken, orange chicken, & broccoli beef for carry-out... make sure you bring cash! I enjoyed observing the dice game & some casual banter while waiting for the food to cook. I felt like I fit right in with the rest of them. While driving back with the food, the smell overtook my car & my mouth was watering. I love neighborhood joints. And let's face it this is the land of glitz and these little hole in the walls are hard to find. This place is a keeper. Drinks are affordable. Food is great. It was hot inside when I went by myself one day but it was also summer time. Not sure if they have AC or not. Didn't seem like it. That won't stop me from going again tho. This is an example of some folks trying to improve the ratings for the owner. I felt compelled to give a review. Overall, the food was less than advertised. Plastic plates, forks etc set the stage for the ambience. This would be a great place for a quick beer without anyone coming to look for you. Cash only, so be prepared to bring it or pay dearly at their in-house ATM machine. The owner is a nice guy so I gave an extra star on my rating.
