Found this on Yelp while searching for a breakfast place close to the airport & Stephen King's house. We were limited on time so called ahead to ask about the wait. We were told it wasn't bad at the moment so headed over there. We were seated quickly & the food came out fast. It was wonderful & the service was very friendly. We recommend the eggs (scrambled & over easy), bacon, sausage, omelet, biscuits & blueberry pancakes. The biscuits were the best we've ever had! This is my second venture to Judy's for breakfast and bloodys after a night of excessive drinking and waking up with a desert for a tongue and headache that feels like no amount of acetaminophen could repair. After more than 45 minutes of searching for a brunch place that serves alcohol, it appears that Judy's is the only place where you can sooth your sorrows with an alcoholic beverage of your choosing between the hours of 9 am and 11 am on Saturday. +1 star for that alone! Yuck! We were visiting Bangor for a concert during the week and this is the place we ended up for breakfast. We eat all organic/cagefree/pasture raised etc etc at home but we loooovvve a greasy spoon diner. This place was recommended for us to visit for breakfast. The woman and the hotel gave us a few different place and then said "if you want to drive a little bit, Judy's has the BEST food". Emphasis on BESSST. I should've known better than to take advice from someone carrying a ramen noodle soup package at 10 pm. Here was an overwhelming smell of lemony Lysol/chemical smell upon entering. This threw me off immediately. How can I eat he BEST food while smelling chemicals?! Our server came over and we could barely understand her. We placed our order and she brought me over some gross coffee. It wasn't old, didn't smell weird or anything just was the worst brew I've had in a while. My big plate of food came out with my husbands omelet and sausages. The sausages must've came out of a deep freezer section of the grocery store, my scrambled eggs were burnt, my pancake was heavy and dense, they only had American cheese for the omelet (American cheese isn't even cheese, get some cheddar at least people!), my homefries were oily and if my dog were there I wouldn't have even given him my bacon. This is not the BEST! I ate the biscuit that came with it and my ten month old pushed everything away or just spit it out. We were super disappointed with this place. What was really annoying though was the fact there were drunks at the bar still drinking. They were loud and obnoxious. So if you want a bar atmosphere for breakfast, go here. People who know Bangor, and know Judy's, may think I'm crazy. Judy's has a reputation for being the breakfast spot most likely to get you knifed. Also a bar, the night crowd that patronizes this establishment is colorful in the scariest sense of the word. But the mid-morning weekend crowd is harmless, and the lore adds to the charm. After a rainy morning of unsuccessful yard saling, my husband and I decided to finally give Judy's a shot. The interior is dark and a little intimidating, but quickly becomes cozy. Our waitress was kind and efficient without seeming fake. The kitchen staff, visible from the sitting area, were a surly bunch, but they quickly whipped up one of the best breakfasts you'll find in Bangor. I filled up on one of Judy's famous omelettes, hash browns, toast and coffee. My husband had eggs, toast, bacon, and a muffin. All first-rate and free of pretension. First impression: divey bar that smelled like cigarettes. At first I thought I made a mistake coming in here. Ambience was a little sketch, and the clientele were all single males who looked like construction workers. But I didn't want to be rude, and sat down anyway. Nice lady came over (I'm assuming is Judy?) and took my order, told me about the breakfast special which was an omelette filled with sausage and cheese, plus coffee and toast. I got the house special (as advertised on a ten foot sign on the side of the building): Two eggs, home fries, bacon, toast, and coffee. Everything was really good. What a nice little joint we happened upon while in Bangor. First we caught the place at a bad time. The service was really slow, but honestly the charm of the employees really made up for it. The home made corn beef hash is out of this world, the home fries are nice and flavor, and the English muffins are toasted to perfection. It's a local hangout, and I can see why.
