Its been a while since I've been to Judy's, but all my memories are pleasant ones. The building is a remodeled Wendy's (I think), but the food is much more pleasing. Southern fare done well. Like I said, I've only been to Judy's a couple of times, but I will plan to go again soon and write more about the specifics on the menu. read more

Good food. Good service. It was a Saturday evening and the football crowd was a little loud. Nice to have a local place close to the house.

The staff audibly says, "Ughhh! Hold on!" while taking phone orders. Staff was rude and snippy upon pickup.

This is one of my favorite comfort food spots! Always great! Chicken and Dumplings are my favorite!

Not a big fan of Judy's. Food is ok but certainly nothing special and is overpriced for what you get. If you want good home cooking I'd recommend Neighbors or Big Time Diner. Both are in the same price range but much tastier (and with less hassle) than Judy's. It's packed at lunchtime but for the life of me I can't see why. read more

We were sent to Judy's by a local. Thanks to him and thanks to Judy's for a great lunch.We were in Mobile due to the loss of a friend. The brightest moment we had was our lunch at Judy's before leaving town. Three of the 4 of us are or were in the past chefs. Between us we have over 60 years experience.The food and the service far surpassed anything you have ever heard about Southern hospitality. Ms.Johnson our server was a breath of fresh air.She was sweeter than the sweet tea she served. Everyone in Judy's was gracious.Our plates consisted of poor boys ,chicken fried steak,multiple vegetables and yes mac and cheese!The food and service impressed to say the least ! Judy's place is going to be added to the rotation of places we eat at before our monthly organization meetings. We stopped in with a group of 6 for a couple of beers and some food. The restaurant isn't huge, it looks like it was an old pizza hut sized place. There is a huge parking lot, clean restrooms, but the tables are really close together. The menu boasts most staples of Southern Cuisine. Judy's has one of the hugest country fried steaks I have ever seen. Fried to perfection and smothered with white gravy, served with two sides from fries to collards or mashed potatoes. Also ordered at the table we had fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers and a chicken sandwich which looked phenomenal. The food did take a while to get to us, this seemed odd considering that its mostly fried small plate stuff. When it did arrive it was well cooked and very good. The restaurant has a full bar but no draft beer! Before you get too upset, they have a decent beer selection and all patrons who order a beer get a coozie to go with it! The beers are cold and the mixed drinks, according to those that had them, were very well done! Our server was very attentive and served drinks and took orders in a timely manner. Our split checks were 100 percent correct and she can't help how long the kitchen takes. The total bill for my meal of 3 beers, a diet coke and a chicken finger plate was like 20 bucks. All in all nothing negative to say, just wish it was not so cramped and I wish the food had been just a little faster. Like I said we will be back and look forward to many more fun times at Judy's place. read more

We had lunch here today. My husband and I both had hamburger steak with gravy and onions, and Mac/cheese. I had turnip greens and he had rice and gravy. The food was good, but we were a little disappointed that it did not seem to be anything exceptional, as the reviews had led us to expect. Would definitely go there again, however. I've dined here a handful times. The idea of good country food makes you want to eat there, but once the food hits the table, regret sits in. Quality food takes quality time to fix, anyone with common sense knows this. Please stop rushing the food out the table. 3 out of 5 times and the food has been questionable. Pink chicken isn't done. Fabulous meal. They were slam-packed at 12:30 on a Monday. (Good sign). Don't expect a "fancy" meal here, but they put out a high-quality plate lunch for the money. Hubby and I had been given a good review for Judy's some years ago and just never seemed to be in that area of Mobile at lunch time. Today was finally the right time, so we decided to check it out. It's a bit dark inside, and a little crowded, but we were able to sit right down. Our waitress explained the menu choices and quickly brought our drinks. I ordered the Smothered Chicken Breast with White Gravy, turnip greens and a side salad (for $1.00 more) with Mexican cornbread. Gary ordered Chicken and Dumplings, mac and cheese and his favorite, large white limas with cornbread. We were hungry, thankfully, because the food she brought out was enough for 4 people! It was all delicious, too, and we put away as much as we could, with leftovers going home in the cooler. I'd say it was definitely a place we will visit again, and recommend to anyone looking for a good lunch spot! read more

The mashed potatoes were HORRIBLE! I asked if they were real or instant and was told they were half real and half instant. They were all instant and the worst tasting instant potatoes I've ever eaten. If you love mashed potatoes DO NOT order this dish. Judy this dish is an embarrassment to your restaurant please change to real potatoes or take this dish off your menu. The pork chops were good but the highlight of my lunch were the "large white lime beans" that I was raised to call "butter beans." The service was good and quick. read more

We have eaten a Judy's on a regular basis, even when it was across the street from its present location. The food has always been good , no complaints. However, we are starting to see a pattern of lack of enough servers at lunch time. It is at times, taking 20 minutes before our order is taken and another 25 min before food is served and that has been just ordering the lunch special which has typically been cooked and ready to serve. I also see food taken to the wrong tables on every visit. Come on Judy hire some help, your food is too good to sacrifice customers. read more

The best food in Mobile! The kitchen is open during lunch and dinner but is closed in between. It's a bar all day, but it's nonsmoking until after lunch. My parents and I go there so often that all of the employees know us by name and they start on our drinks the moment they see us walk in the door. :) read more

We had heard about this locally owned place that served home cooking at it's best, so we tried it for lunch. We waited for our waitress to take our order, even though we arrived at 11 and it wasn't very crowded yet. Our waitress was chatting with some of the regulars at the other tables. We did finally order, and then we waited, and waited and waited. After about 25 minutes the waitress stopped by and seemed surprised that we didn't have our food. She offered to go check on our order, after she cleaned a nearby table. When our food did arrive, it was luke warm and just so-so. Our dinner at Judy's was delicious. Service was very prompt and gracious. We had the Alfredo with chicken, blackened fish, loaded potatoes, and onion rings. If you are looking for GOOD Southern food, this is the place. I've eaten there numerous times and have never been disappointed! My favorite is the hamburger steak with onions and gravy. They had to have started with about a pound of meat as one would feed two hungry people. The sides are fantastic, but as usual, I have a favorite. The Southern style macaroni and cheese is to DIE for!! All of the veggies are fantastic. The Mexican Cornbread is probably the best I've ever had. Service is great although during the busiest hours, you might have to wait a few minutes for a table. It's a small café by day and a honky tonk by night. Haven't tried the night side, but the café is OUTSTANDING and that's a rating I don't give very often !! read more
