The tortas here are very good. I did feel the menu was limited. I was looking for something with rice and beans but they do not have combination plates on the menu. I ordered the torta cubano and it was very good. The salsa that they provide with their tortas tastes fresh and has a good kick to it. The place came to spotlight after it appeared on LA Eaters "one of the best breakfast burritos" in town. Their breakfast burritos are special, no doubt on that. But end of the day there are no shortage of good food places in Los Angeles. It's a food city. I am going to this places for long time. I am happy but never felt this is a once in a lifetime place to eat. Very run down and full of attitudes. Last week on Friday when I went for $2 special tostadas, first time I had to deal with the owner. Very rude and said we don't have $2 tostadas as we are not doing it after lockdown. Understand. But whatever I asked, he goes "signed price doesn't exist anymore after lockdown". I also understand if you have to restructure the price elements of your menu after the COVID loss. But why you have to advertise something that is no longer a reality? The guy was very rude said "take it or leave it", " do you want to purchase or not"? Like racism, rudeness is also a social disease that we need to address. I understand customers can be a pain sometime (or maybe most of the time) but you are in restaurant business so more customer oriented attitude, empathy and patience is not much to ask for. You knew the deal of hospitality and food business. When I complained this behavior to the regular cashier of the store, he goes, he is the owner, this is what it is. To #LAEater or any reviewer, please don't only share the best "food" info with your audience but the best "food experience" info with us. I understand if Covid has taken a toll on your business and I am extremely sad that so many local businesses are suffering for that but that doesn't give you any right to behave this crappy with your customer. Again, lack of empathy and rudeness is a social problem like racism, and it's growing. We all need to act together. This behaviour from the owner has left a very bad taste in my mouth and I am not going back. You can say who cares? That's right. This kind of "who cares" attitude transform into a social cancer that called rudeness. This is my personal opinion. Pretty cool spot on York Ave. The breakfast burrito with Machaca was pretty good. The machaca was juicy, a little chewy but good. The overall burrito was balanced that none of the ingredients like the potato,onion or cheese were overpowering one another. I was hoping for a spicier sauce but the chipotle and tomatillo sauce had a good flavor too them. I'm happy to see that this place is still around. Definitely a staple in the neighborhood. The tortas are always delicious and the sauce they give with them is addicting. This place is BONKERS! Hidden gem in Highland Park. While in search for a raspado (shaved ice with flavored syrup) and a elote (corn on the cob with mayo, powder cheese, powder chili and mayo) we came across this location. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, and lots of selections(too many, I felt overwhelmed). Can't wait to go back and try their other items. I must say, service was a bit slow but well WORTH the WAIT. There is sitting inside and outside. If you decide to sit inside, be careful there is a step up. Overall this place is 10 and if you have gotten this far on my review, don't think twice. Because they are simply authentic and taste delicious. I haven't been here since last year because I'm Far away. So, after I left I couldn't believe how packed the place was, though half of the people appear to be high school students or maybe early college students, probably from nearby.
