We got pickup from Juliana's this week for the first time in a long time. We got a half white pizza, half Margherita, with sausage and onions. The total was $41 which was a little surprising. I like Juliana's, but I don't love it. And to be fair, I've only ever gotten takeout. Maybe next time I'll commit to dining in. read more

This was my first trip to NY and one of the first things I knew I wanted to try was a really good NY pizza. We weren't planning to come here, but happened to be across the road enjoying some late morning coffee when our friend pointed this place out as being one of the most popular for great tasting pizza......so, we went ahead and joined the line outside till they opened their doors. We were not going to dine in and ordered a half and half pizza to go.....half White (mozzarella and garlic) and half Margherita (tomato, mozzarella and basil) personal sized pizza.....which was big enough just for the four of us to try. Got in line right before they opened and it did not disappoint. I do think that if you are looking for a traditional NY slice, this is not it, but only because it is elevated and its not supposed to be a walking slice. We ordered a margherita pie and it was great. I had a beer - I dont remember what it was (probably an IPA) but it was cold and refreshing! Service was great. We were really excited to try this place out after reading all of the glowing reviews. We ordered the Margherita pizza. The flavor on top of the pie was really delicious (sweet, herb-y, fresh), however, the "char" on the bottom detracted from the overall pizza for me. The burnt taste was overpowering. We brought this up to management and they mentioned that this is just how pizzas are made here (due to the extremely hot wood fired oven). That said, they were courteous enough to give us a small discount on our bill. If you like a good char, you may still enjoy this pizza! If you're sensitive to "burnt" flavours, maybe reconsider. We ended up here after the rudeness of the pizza place next door. The staff here were so much friendlier and welcoming. There was a queue set up outside the door and the manager greeted each group and asked how many in the group to get them queued up. Once we were seated, someone immediately came over and took our drink order and food order. Service was quick and the overall ambiance was much more lively and energetic than that other place. It was loud and welcoming, conversations going on at tables all over the place. I highly recommend it. It is New York, so prices are on the higher side, but the pizza was amazing. Tucked in DUMBO, this place had a short line at 11:30am on a weekday and my party of 3 waited about 5 minutes in the scorching heat. It was worth it. We had to go classic and got the Margherita Pizza with half of the pizza with sausage. It was... the best pizza I've had (that is not a Chicago pizza - sorry! I love Chicago pizza!). The tomato sauce was from another dimension, it tasted so fresh and I could TASTE the tomatoes. Can I give 3.5 stars? The pizza here was good. I don't know if I'd necessarily go out of my way for it, but it's a decent spot if you're in Dumbo and are craving a pie. Don't order the Caesar salad. No wonder the place is always has an insane queue, jam-packed with tourists, and often has hurried service because they're so busy and are spoiled by having near-constant stream of patrons. So you'd think the pizza quality would suffer because of quick turnovers and popularity - but you'd be wrong! Am not a pizza person but if it's Juliana's- i won't definitely say no. The crust is always perfectly cooked, never burnt, always thin and airy and a bit chewy just the way i like it. The ingredients are impeccable- from the sauce, to the cheese up to its toppings. If you're wondering whether to try Grimaldi's next door, i can say unequivocally that Juliana's pizza tastes better. It's frankly not even close. I usually get the Margherita with roasted red peppers and pair it with siphon bottle seltzer (and a take away, of course). The only inconvenience that I encountered was some slight misunderstanding amongst staff. A local referred me to Julianna's. He said it is the best pizza in the city. I stopped by for dinner an hour before closing. I was seated right away and given a menu. The inside is dimly lit. I ordered a white pizza and added mushrooms. The pizza came out within 20 minutes. The local was right. This is the best pizza restaurant. The dough is perfect. The mozzarella, garlic, and mushrooms complemented each other so well. You can taste the quality and freshness in each bite. I told myself I was going to eat half my pizza and save the other half for tomorrow. I accidentally never stopped eating, and the pizza never made it safely to my home. They also have fresh grated cheese, crushed red pepper, and hot sauce available for your pizza. Definitely ask for the fresh grated cheese. The customer service was also great. We also ordered cheesecake, and the cheesecake flavor was nothing special, but the that cheesecake was THICK. Texture wise, it's probably the thickest cheesecake I've ever had which I liked a lot. I went to Juliana's for lunch today. I've eaten here before but never alone. So , this time I ordered the personal pizza, expecting a smaller version of the pizza I've enjoyed here before. I ate one piece and wrapped up the rest to show my girlfriend but I ended up just throwing it in the trash. With a $30 price tag you should do better. You lost me as a customer. My New Yorker friend took us here for lunch. We were pretty famished after walking across the Brooklyn Bridge and this place is a short walk away in DUMBO. Most likely people didn't know about the history of Juliana's. The line did move quickly and we got a table near the kitchen. Pretty cool as we got to see them making the pizzas. We shared a salad and a large pizza. We had the special pizza (#1 -- mozza, scamorza affumicata, pancetta and scallions) and a mix salad. The salad was refreshing and cuts the saltiness of the pizza. My friend said it was usually not so salty. But the pancetta on the pizza was saltier than usual. Good thing the crust was delicious and that helped to tone down the saltiness. I always love white pizza and this place does a good job. It was delicious even without the toppings. Just simple crust brushed with olive oil. It got really busy with a longer line outside when we left around 2 pm. The only drawback about this place is that it would be hard to eat here alone as the pizzas are mostly medium and large sizes. Only the classics (4 options) have a personal size. Besides pizzas and salads, there are 2 choices for pasta. Do not come here with picky eaters. Another special mention is the egg cream drink.
