From the moment we stepped in, the staff made us feel like family. They're friendly, attentive, and genuinely seem to enjoy making sure guests have a great time. It's the kind of hospitality that's becoming rare these days, and it made our visit feel special. The atmosphere is outstanding -- a perfect blend of modern design with a fun Hawaiian Island twist. Everywhere you look, there are touches that make you feel like you're stepping into a pub on the islands, not just a local spot in the Sierra foothills. They absolutely nailed their goal of giving guests a taste and feel of the Tropics the moment you walk through the doors. We loved the food (full of bright, delicious flavors), and the rotating craft beer lineup is impressive. Whether you're here for a meal, the game, or just to unwind, it's an excellent experience from start to finish. Tropics Island Grill & Ale House is truly an experience unlike anywhere else -- a little slice of the islands right here in Camino. Highly recommended! Mahalo Nui Loa!

I went to get a Lobster roll + whoopie pie (nothing else) and the total was $35! It IS delicious. Still thought it was worth it. It IS lobster, you can't expect it to be cheap like chicken or beef. Just be ware of that price hike. I know they have expenses to pay. I think this product is best in middle & upper class markets. Second thing is the worker wasn't proficient in English, so we went back and forth on Google Translate trying to understand each other for simple words like 'Cole slaw', 'on the side' & 'salad'. It was a frustrating experience plus a waste of company time! Time =$$! I would go back again when I am planning on spending that much. It IS the ONLY place I can find that sells Lobster rolls. Even Red Lobster only sells it during their Lobster fest. Just gotta have the Google Translate ready to go lol

It's hard to want to return to your food truck, pay $25, and then still be hungry.

Whitecaps is a must if you are staying in the area!…read more Quite possibly the best pizza in all of Tahoe. We've tried many places over the years and Whitecaps is ultimately the spot we always go to. It's super busy, so definitely recommend coming early or planning your visit on a weekday. On a Saturday night, it took about 30 minutes for a table, so we sat at the bar instead. The service was good, though the food did take a while to come out. The Sopressata pizza with honey drizzle was amazing and probably the highlight of our most recent dinner. They have a ton of options on the menu though, if you're not feeling pizza. I've heard amazing things about the meatball sandwich, which we plan to get on our next visit.

It was the hottest time of the day and the whole patio had no cover at all so we asked if they could provide covering. The man was like "no, we can't do anything, sit under the sun with your dog or leave" and left. We opt to place a takeout order and eat somewhere else instead. But when we asked for utensils and other supplies, the cashier lady that placed our order was visibly annoyed and unwilling. We ordered Detroit style pizza, it was 80 percent crust. They left the pizza in the box without handing it to us after the pizza was cooked.

My millennial heart was overjoyed with the shop's musical choices and decor elements, with several references to TMNT, Jurassic Park, Pokémon, and other popular 90's kid references scattered everywhere (even in the bathroom). My wife and I will definitely be back (probably consistently now) and we're looking forward to trying their sister pizza shop in midtown.

We recently made a very last-minute visit to R Town Pizza, and I'm really glad we did! I had only…read moretried it once before, but this was my first time actually going in and ordering a full meal. We ordered the RoboCop pizza, the spinach artichoke dip with toasted rounds instead of chips, JoJo potatoes, and a single slice pizza for my daughter. Everything was honestly so good. The service was great too, and everyone there was really friendly. We ended up sitting outside because it was such a nice day, although it did feel a little stuffy inside. If you sit outside, you order inside first and then head out to your table, so anytime we needed something like napkins or ketchup, we just had to pop back in and ask. It honestly wasn't a big deal though because everyone was so nice. The atmosphere inside was fun too -- there were pinball machines and TVs everywhere. Everything felt fresh and welcoming, and I really enjoyed sitting outside. The single slice for kids is such a great idea. My daughter's slice came as a little corner piece served in its own mini skillet with the toppings she picked. It felt like the perfect little personal pizza for a kid. The RoboCop pizza was delicious. I loved the crispy toasted cheese edges, and the toppings were amazing. It had a little spicy kick to it, but not overwhelming at all -- just perfect. I also added ricotta because I love ricotta on pizza, and it made it even better. The JoJo potatoes were great too, but the real star for me was the spinach artichoke dip. I order spinach artichoke dip pretty much everywhere I go, and this one was seriously one of my favorites. Getting it with the toasted rounds instead of chips was definitely the move. Honestly, I could've just eaten that and been happy. The only downside for me was the pricing. The food is absolutely delicious, but the pizzas are definitely pricey. In my opinion, around $21 for a four-corner and $42 for an eight-corner pizza feels a little crazy. That said, the quality and flavor were really good. Overall, I would definitely go back. It's more of a splurge/treat-yourself kind of pizza spot for us rather than an every-week place, but it was super tasty and worth trying.
